No, lgm – she used an occasion that has NOTHING to do with politics to, once again, push a political opinion on those of us who really just wanted to see if Hugh Laurie was going to win for “House”.
I don’t give a rat’s behind what Field’s position on the war is, and I don’t want to hear it at 9:30 at night when the award show is running late as it is. Get up there, say thank you, and leave.
It really is a simple concept.
And it’s a naive, ignorant position to think that if mothers ruled the world there’d be no war. As a commenter over at the Hot Air site said:

Remember the imam who referred to women as “uncovered meat”? That comment was directed at the left and specifically Hollywood, where celebrities walk around in the bare minimum.
So Field’s “war is not the answer and mommies know that” diatribe fails on many levels.
Unless, of course, she’s willing to give up that Hollywood lifestyle for a burqua.

The Emmy’s were broadcast on Fox News? Uh, no. Also, the only reason anything was cut was the profanity as defined by the FCC, not the Fox channel. Ever watch the Simpsons or Family Guy? They air on the exact same channel and say far more “dangerous” things.
Here’s a newsflash: There is no grand conspiracy to silence the anti-war crowd. If Sally Field hadn’t used profanity you’d have heard every word.

A great comment on another thread wondered if while Field was raving about mothers ruling the world if she was also thinking about those lovely mothers who encourage their children to strap on explosives and go blow themselves up so they can kill innocent people for insane reasons. Field would have been better off if she had just said thank you and gotten off the stage.
From what AP says, it looks like they cut away due to the “Goddamn” in what followed.
How about the Palestinian woman who was elected to Hamas parliament after she managed to get three of her children to become “martyrs” for the jihad? She does want to rule the world, but that is not a world I would want myself or my children to live in.
These Hollywood celebrities always think that they have such a superiority that all of us just MUST follow along with their idiocy. After all, they are famous and they are brave to speak “truth to power” and this just makes it all truth and justice.
But in reality they are not brave at all in a country which has all of the freedoms of speech, etc protected. All it does is make them look like fools, like Sean Penn, etc. Let them go to Iran, North Korea, or Syria and speak up against the regimes there for freedom. Then they would be brave. And Sally Fields would perhaps realize that there are reasons to fight wars that go way beyond motherhood.
We all knew that somebody in Holly-Weird was going to make a fool out of themselves.
This and many other examples are why we no longer watch any Hollyweird award shows in our house. We also no longer go to the movie theater (except for very rare occasions) or watch much network TV either.

The Emmys weren’t on Fox News but on the regular Fox network. C’mon people act like you got a brain. If they hadn’t bleeped it the FCC would have fined them regardless of what network it was on. It is pretty sad when you can no longer bring events live anymore out of fear that somebody will open their mouth and insert their foot, normally up to the knee.
Firstly, everyone needs to STOP watching these people who do nothing but memorize dialog for TV, movies, sing and dance, etc…giving themselves awards excessively at innumerable award shows. Geez, we have the Oscars, tony’s, emmy’s, grammy’s, daytime emmys, golden globes, people’s choice, MTV, latin emmy’s, BET awards, writers guild of america awards, ad nauseum… These are millionaire marxist who are so far removed from reality, it isn’t even funny. Our son is in Afghanistan. My wife is not happy about it but she did not “send him off to be slaughtered”. She prays for his safety every day and is thankful he is doing something he believes in.

There is no show that I watch on network tv unless it is sports. I am very selective on what I watch on cable. I refuse to watch any program or movie with a leftist anti-American actor in it. Basically watch History Channel, reruns of the days when programs entertained and didn’t preach a political agenda and FOX News. I spend more of my spare time reading and on the computer than on tv. I seldom go to the movies. I refuse to contribute the pockets of those who enjoy their freedoms while hating the very people, our military, who ensure they have freedoms.
I wonder if Hollywood is aware that there are many, many people like me in the US. Sadly, I doubt that they care.
I’m pretty sure that Margaret Thatcher was a mother. Indira Ghandi, too. Golda Meir, anyone?

I’ve never heard Bush curse on camera, at least not on purpose. But he does have a way of flubbing lines. Sally Field gave a non-partisan opinion that war is bad. And expressed view that if mothers were in charge, more wars and wartime deaths could be avoided. That may be utopian, but it is not evil. Do you want equal time for the “war is good” lobby?

There are a number of things that need to be said about this. According to the lefty website, she was “censored” because Fox network and Fox News have the same “righty” agenda.
That is utterly ridiculous. The programs that they themselves cite as examples that use inappropriate language on Fox network (as bad or worse than the words used by Fields) are programs that are for all intents and purposes programs from the mind of leftist ideologs. “Family Guy” and “American Dad” are programs that essentially denigrate conservatism and our American heritage–in other words, they are completely left-wing fare. Their own examples disprove the “right-wing bias” arguement that they attempt to make.
Also, if someone wishes to watch these two leftist cartoons, then they generally know what sort of content is going to be on them. An awards presentation like the Emmeys is not the same thing at all. The personalities who are part of these programs are to use family-appropriate language, and those who receive awards are generally expected to follow suit. I wouldn’t call blotting out Fields’ “g-ddamned” rant censorship. I’d call it behaving responsibly.
What nonsense! “War is bad.” Left-wingers no doubt would rather that we all spoke German, and that Jews and other “subhumans” were rendered extinct rather than fight against Nazism and fascism. Dems used to know that you take action against such evils. I mean, who were in charge of the Executive office when we went to war in 1917 and 1941? (Or, for that matter who were in charge when we went to war in 1950 and 1964?)
As things stand now, German is becoming a dead language, since Germans are not having babies anymore, and they are allowing non-Germans (mostly North African and Middle Eastern Muslims) to take over the responsibility for paying for their Socialist society, since the German population is aging rapidly. The problem there is that these emigrants are using their Socialist welfare to further drain their system.
The entire European contenent is becoming a Muslim colony. Muslims are generally allowed complete license to communicate their intent to bring the entire world beneath a Sharia law caliphate, and Europe is certainly on the road to falling to this system. Europe, which used to be the seat of world power and enlightened culture is in peril of falling to a barbaric seventh century political system.
What should our response be to this threat? Are we to allow the same leftist ideology that is destroying Europe to crush he manhood of this nation, and just allow the wave of jihandist, fundamentalist Islamism that is shaking the world to simply wash over the whole of the civilized world? Is not our freedoms and liberties worth fighting for? Are not civilized enlightened culture and our very lives worth fighting for?
On the contrary–sometimes war is very, very GOOD.
