US Park Police confirm: Vietnam Veterans War memorial was vandalized
We brought you our video report on the defaced Vietnam Veterans War memorial last week. Now, the Park Police confirm this afternoon:
The unidentified substance that was found splashed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial earlier this month was the result of vandalism, the U.S. Park Police said today.
Sgt. Robert Lachance, a spokesman for the Park Police, said the investigation into the incident is continuing, but the detective on the case had ruled it an act of vandalism. Lachance said he could provide no more details because the probe is still underway.
The oily substance was first reported to police the evening of Sept. 7, National Park Service officials have said. Dark blotches were found along a stone curb at the base of the memorial for most of its length, and at least two of the wall’s panels appeared to have had something splashed on them.
Park Service officials said they did not know what the substance was, and at first said it was unclear if it was the result of vandalism or some kind of accident.
Park Service spokesman Bill Line said today that maintenance and preservation crews were still working to remove the stains and marks, but were proceeding with caution to avoid further damage. He said the crews were trying to avoid pushing any residue into cracks or grout in the stone.
“We’re purposefully going to take our time,” he said.
Line said it could take another week or more to clean, but officials remain confident they can remove all the stains.
Here’s our report in case you missed it:
FYI, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone providing information leading to arrest and conviction in the case.

What is wrong with these people?
Is this what you wanted St. Cindy? Maybe your sons headstone is next by some lib hate-monger? Or are they giving you ‘moral authority privileges?
.
Sad sad day, again.
Yes, this IS what Sheehan wanted.
Thanks for the heads up on this Michelle. It sickens me that someone could do this.
According to the ACLU, this sacrelige (sp?) would probably be a free speech issue.
To real Americans, it should be one for which we pull out all the stops.
Find. Them. All.
I missed it. Did Cindy break down and get a headstone for her son? What was place on it - here lies my dead son who died for nothing?
A good man dead for sure. He was there for me and I will forget his mother but not the price he paid.
That’s one reward I would gladly forfeit or re-donate.
Sad Day Indeed !!!
We should all write our representatives and senators to get quality video cameras installed if they are not there already and as far as I know, no cameras are present. I might be wrong because it’s been awhile since I’ve been by there.
Lock them up and throw away the key.
I personally did not need the park service to tell me it was vandalism and I am sure all your readers did not either. I am sick of these leaders of our country treating us like children who cannot handle the truth. They better wake up because we are awake and we will be heard and we are not a silent majority any longer and we will not put up with this seditious crap anymore.
Used to be a time when people respected what was sacred to others.
Why vandalize the symbol of a previous war because you don’t agree with what is currently going on?
These people have no sense of right and wrong anymore.
Where is the outrage, the links on CNN, MSNBC, FOX?
You will not see outrage in the mainstream because this behavior is accepted by the left.
No justice, no peace
(thought it be nice to say that for a change)
OldGuy53:
It appears that anything not connected to Islam is not worth respecting or protecting anymore. The MSM would be all over this is it was a Muslim site. As for right and wrong, for most people today that only applies to what they think other people should do. They feel entitled to do whatever they want (deface public propert, vandalize private property, drive 50 mph through a school zone, steal, cheat, whatever).
I heard and read about this last week. Hope it gets to at least Fox News.
“Semper Fi”
Thanks MM
I thought the Vietnam Memorial was one war memorial the Hate America crowd actually liked because of all the names showing how many young kids were killed by Evil America’s imperialism. Sure they loathe the surviving soldiers, but the dead ones were their cause celebre.
Nothing is sacred to them.
Except Gaia, I suppose.
Michelle, you called it as vandalism a week ago. Good eyes.
Exactly right Oldguy. Now, in this age of stolen elections (by the dems) and radical islam, the old ways are just a memory now.
My family and I are disgusted with these children. This country is quickly reaching a tipping point when we will have to rise up and retake this country from the small minority of fascist and their MSM enablers. Never in our history have I seen this type of behavior toward war memorials dedicated to those that gave the last full measure to protect our freedoms.
It took ‘em a WEEK after you figured it out to figure it out themselves? Your tax dollars at rest, folks. And I do not say that lightly; I worked for the gummint for 30 years.
If they have the majority on their side, as they claim, why don’t they publicize the photos of the perps and celebrate them as their heroes?
Guess we all know the real answer to THAT.
Still, it would be s well to have their phots widely distribued, when someone DOES discover who they are!
Ditto the clods in Chinatown who keep “tagging” that beautiful mural, too!
Very nice. Because the whole truth is, WITHOUT JUSTICE THERE IS NO HEALING!
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Same Park Servide that is in charge of the Flight 93 Memorial TRIBUTE TO ISLAMOFASCIST TERRORISTS, and doesn’t want to hear from angry Americans who donated for a memorial tribute to the Flight 93 passengers and crews SALUTE TO AMERICAN HEROES who took down the islamofascist terrorists!
And has been shutting down their contact sites from the Flight 93 Committee to the National Park Service to the Interior Dept - to stop angry Americans from telling them to CHANGE THAT DESIGN FROM A RED CRESCENT oriented towards MECCA.
Treating us like CHILDREN? or like SERFS!
I haven’t watched Fox News steadily all day - but when I did, their focus was on OJ and Sally Field, et al.
I didn’t even hear from them that the EAGLES GATHERED in DC this last weekend! Not personally, anyway. Not saying they did not cover it - but of the several times I flipped over there, it was all celebrity gossip!
And they are supposedly RIGHTWING-SLANTED?????? SO LOL!
But isn’t OJ more important ;)?
SO it will effectively cost us $5,000 to sting those responsible up ourselves?
Bet that 5 grand is more to make sure the guilty party (or parties) actually make it into police custody…
heheheheh Oh, SURE!
LOL! Vision of a large pack of hound dogs setting up a TREMENDOUS huge howl, leashes all atangle, men and dogs all tripping over eachother, as the fresh, aromatic scent of Red Herring suddenly crosses the trail of the prey the dogs were originally on….
Oh, Yeah. OJ is…real meat.
This YEAR IS INDEED a good time to remember the importance of the CHARACTER of the man who will be selecting new “JUDGES”.
But the Vets have waited longer for Justice than he has.
I’m very …disappointed… in Fox
“News”Celebrity Gossip. They say that in Mexico, Mexico flag-burners don’t make it to police custody, even though Mexico flag-burning is a felony with a Death Penalty.
