Bloomberg to escort Iranian nutjob to Ground Zero? Update: Poll time – Where do you want to send Ahmadinejad? Update: NYC backs off amid confusion; Update: Columbia U. will host him

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 19, 2007 03:18 PM

Update: Wow. I was just joking about the campus visit in my poll. And now this:

Also today, the president of Columbia University, Lee C. Bollinger, announced that Mr. Ahmadinejad would speak at the university on Monday.

I’m sure he’ll get a warmer welcome than Columbia gave the Minutemen.

Update: Request denied.

Oh, holy hell. The NYSun reports:

In a move that has stunned New York, the Bloomberg administration is in discussions to escort the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to ground zero during his visit to New York next week, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said today.

The Iranian mission to the U.N. made the request to the New York City Police Department and the Secret Service, who will jointly oversee security during the president’s two-day visit. Mr. Ahmadinejad is scheduled to arrive September 24 to speak to the U.N. General Assembly as the Security Council decides whether to increase sanctions against Iran for its uranium enrichment program.

Mr. Kelly said the NYPD and Secret Service were in discussions with the Iranian mission about the logistics for the possible visit, and whether it will take place at all. He said Mr. Ahmadinejad would not be allowed to descend into the pit for safety reasons related to ongoing construction there.

“There has been some interest expressed in his visiting the area,” Mr. Kelly said. “It’s something that we are prepared to handle if in fact it does happen.”

Mr. Kelly said that Mr. Ahmadinejad had not indicated why he wants to visit the site of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Contact Nanny (or should it be Ninny, now?) Bloomberg here.

Poll time: Where should Ahmadinejad be escorted next?

Where should Ahmadinejad be escorted next?
The U.S. Holocaust Museum
Guantanamo Bay
Any college campus…there’s a faculty position waiting for him, for sure
Berkeley
Jimmy Carter’s estate

Allahpundit’s outrage-o-meter: White hot:

[I]f Bush and Rice let him go down there, especially in the wake of Petraeus and Crocker reporting the threat Iran poses to American soldiers in Iraq, you have no idea how grave the political fallout will be. Consider this an alert from the grassroots early warning system. You ignored the warning we gave you this summer about the amnesty bill. For your sake, don’t ignore this one.

Via Stephen Spruiell, here’s Mitt Romney’s letter to the U.N. asking that Ahmadinejad’s invitation to address the General Assembly be rescinded.

I certainly don’t want to send anyone to Hell or anything like that, but I must concur that it is outrageous that Bloomberg is allowing someone representing a country like Iran to visit Ground Zero.

I often make a big fuss about gay rights and women’s rights in these comments. Well, it would be mighty hypocritical of me to support gays and women and then turn a blind eye to Iran, wouldn’t it? Their human rights record is deplorable and unacceptable.

I love diplomacy. I’m a typical liberal dove. But diplomacy with Iran is impossible until they make a good faith effort to improve their human rights record and insist upon a dialogue that doesn’t involve wacky Holocaust denials (and forcing Ahmadinejad to visit the Holocaust museum is brilliant) and insane anti-American rhetoric.

    I’m not holding my breath.

All great suggestions. As for caliber, I would favor 25mm.

He could have a “guided tour”, courtesy of the Air Force. We’ll call it “a day in the life of a JDAM”. He can fly with one of our Strike Eagles. Only he’ll be strapped to the wing, and we can precisely drop him on Hugo Chavez’s house, since they’re such great friends, from 30,000ft. At Mach 2.5.

    Whatcha think of that idea?

I’ll bet a few of NY’s finest and bravest will be there to greet him if he tries.

PS, Is it just me, or does the picture of him shown on the front of this blog look like he is placing what appears to be a dinner napkin on his head?

(New York – WABC, September 19, 2007) – Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad requested to visit Ground Zero during an upcoming trip to New York. That request was rejected Wednesday. But a source tells Eyewitness News that the decision may not stop him.

A law enforcement source says the Iranian mission to the United Nations has informed the Secret Service that the Iranian president intends to visit Ground Zero Monday at 10 a.m.

Does anyone else find it interesting that they seem to be going out of their way to let everyone know the exact time and place of where Ahmadinejad is going to be during his trip? Its like they are trying to tip off all the crazys (insert adjective here) out there so that they can go vigilantly on his sorry butt.

Every single New Yorker impacted by the deaths of friends of family should block this man’s view. The photo op he will send to Iran is beyond an insult.
Although none of my friends died there, if I lived anywhere near NYC I would show up to protest this animal with cloven hooves.

    Do not let him through.

Crash his bath time and toss a toaster in…fry his monkey butt.

See if he makes the same face as when he smiles.

Or better yet, we could force feed him 2 gallons of my patented “Bear Mush”….by thunder! he’d twist himself inside out.

Then there is the Tijuana Option: stuff him in a sack filled with Durango scorpions and drag him from the bumper.

I think Mayor Bloom FREAKING BERG needs to have his head examined.

About the UN: Before we send it packing we withdraw every dime of its funding. Prostitution is illegal.

Did ya hear the one about the terrorists in St. Louis who got out after serving 5 months for procuring a land mine and heavy machine gun from an FBI operative?

And the one where CAIR and the ACLU are suing the FBI over surveillance of alleged terrorists?

NutJob’s visit to NYC is a slap- but these other two are downright dangerous.

    Yikes.

Of course Columbia will more than welcome a terrorist, Holocaust denier and advocator of the destruction of Israel. Their type of guy. Now if he was a Republican conservative, he would be protested, shouted down so he couldn’t speak and maybe have a pie thrown at him. Those people at Columbia sure have their priorities straight.

I clicked on a link to the NY Times and was reading comments from the people who actually read that rag and was stunned at the number of people who thought this despot should be allowed to visit Ground Zero. Their reasons were unbelievable. It made me sick.

There is a great media/publicity trap at work in all of this. Marxist operatives in this country (such as Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky) have beaten home the point that US capitalists always find an enemy to turn on, and use their demonizing powers of propaganda to do so in order to keep the nation at war with somebody.

So here is NutJob being looked at as some kind of powerless man of a backward nation that has no bad intentions toward the US. So much of what the left reads is sympathetic to Iran as this mysterious, spiritualist nation of people with a “great culture” (when in effect many exiles and emigrants say that the mulla-ocracy there has destroyed so much of the culture by its dictatorial barbarism.

So no matter what is said about NutJob by the informed (Petraeus, et al), the press and our resident quislings take the opposite view on the basis of their brainwashed skulls- from all the way back in elementary school in the 1980s when this bullcrap made it into the schools through the young liberal teachers who came of age under Jimmuh Carter and his peanut brain.

But I don’t believe this is any kind of majority in this country. It is a group that will lose its mind when the talking stops and hell’s fury is unleashed.

The worse the craziness and immorality of the left before the shooting stops- the worse, the harder the fall. Look at what happened to Weimar Germany as the left leaning elites didnt take Hitler seriously.

And AJ, it’s not rationale. Just a prediction. I would so, SO much rather he be arrested, tried, and convicted before being put to death.

We have a process. We should follow it before we kill him.
