For some people, the thought of the Iranian President going to ground zero wasn’t just controversial, it was a personal insult. Roman Kent is a holocaust survivor. Jim Riches’ son, a firefighter, was killed on 9/11. “We feel what happened at 9/11or in the concentration camps all days of our life it does not leave me for a day,” Kent said. On Thursday, CBS 2 HD followed both men as they tried to get someone from the Iranian Mission to the United Nations to talk to them about President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit. At the building’s front desk, the men were told by an official, “I’ve given the info to the Iranian Mission and they’ll call you in a few moments.” Someone from the mission called back, saying she would try to set up an appointment.
“They told me they would call me back,” Riches said.

Update 3:20pm Eastern 9/20. Ken Timmerman sends word that his organization, Foundation for Democracy in Iran, is organizing with David Bossie of Citizens United, to counter-protest at Ground Zero. They are chartering buses from Washington, D.C.:

Update 2:45pm Eastern 9/20. Columbia U. urged to cancel Ahmadinejad speech.
Columbia University was urged on Thursday to withdraw a speaking invitation to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who will be in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
New York City Council speaker Christine Quinn wrote to the university urging them to cancel Ahmadinejad’s planned speech
on Monday, which is part of Columbia’s World Leaders Forum. “Ahmadinejad is a Holocaust denier,” she wrote.
On Wednesday New York police said Ahmadinejad, who has called for Israel to be wiped off the map, had been denied a request to visit the World Trade Center site of the September 11 attacks during his visit.
Quinn said universities should be a forum for a healthy exchange of differing ideas, but that there were limits.

I think every Senator and Representative ought to be asked to state they will stand in his way as well.”

Despite the NYPD’s rejection, the Iranian nutjob still plans to visit Ground Zero. And he’ll have Secret Service protection! WABC reports:
Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad requested to visit Ground Zero during an upcoming trip to New York. That request was rejected Wednesday. But a source tells Eyewitness News that the decision may not stop him.
A law enforcement source says the Iranian mission to the United Nations has informed the Secret Service that the Iranian president intends to visit Ground Zero Monday at 10 a.m.
The source says regardless of the NYPD’s rejection of the request for a Ground Zero tour, Iran’s president and his entourage will be accompanied by a Secret Service protective detail, a detail provided to all heads of state when they visit the United States.
Anyone in NYC know how to apply for a permit to organize a counter-protest to defend Ground Zero? Is it too late?
Looks like a job for a freedom/anti-jihad coalition. Shout out to the Eagles, Jewish groups, the Free Muslims Coalition, 9/11 Families, the United America Commitee, American Congress For Truth, and more.

I think he wants some propaganda tape to take home with him. What do terrorist do, they manipulate the Media. His proposed visit to Ground Zero, isn’t for “American Citizens” consumption. It is for International and Domestic consumption. This guy isn’t that popular in his own country of Iran. If you think about it, he makes a trip to Ground Zero and takes the video home and doctors and spins it ten ways to Sunday. Well he still has his Columbia visit, he can use it for his propaganda. Our Media does not cover what these “FOLKS” are up to very well. I would like to know things like, how this plays to the International community and his own Country. I believe he is trying to show that Iran is so strong and the US is so weak, look he can use our own freedoms against us. This is how he operates, Leopards don’t change their spots. He will have to be satisfied with making Patsys out of “Columbia University” He won’t be the first.
Amazing that Columbia U is letting this load speak there. Not surprising, just amazing.
These Universities bring in these oppressive leaders and representatives from questionable organizations to speak to these students – but how many would welcome, say, the Pope?
What if Jesus reappeared on earth – would they welcome him to speak? Probably not – or if they did – would he be subject to hecklers from the student organizations?

I asked the president of CU why he needs to hear this guys ideas. Doess he feel it would be necessary in the interest of Free Speech to sit in the lion’s cage at feeding time just to try and understand why the lion was hungry enough to eat him.
We know everything we need to know about this evil murderer. He is killing Americans every day and CU ought to be locked down permanently. Send their president to Iran if he has such a need to understand this clown.

I thought it was Ray Kelly who first spoke of the request. Bloomberg said in response to Kelly’s statement that the city would not support the visit. Maybe I missed a statement by Bloomberg on this.
Regarding Chamberlain. In that analogy Ahmadinejad = Hitler. It wasn’t long ago that Saddam = Hitler. Every Internet startup I read about promises to be the next eBay or MySpace. They are similar in several ways except in eventual market cap.

Rats! We just lost our F-16 squadron this year due to BRAC, but I still have an F-15C Eagle squadron for a couple of years before they move on. See what I can do, I still know a couple of guys in the Tanker world wouldn’t be that hard to workout the logistics on. One KC-10 and a flight of 4 F-15Cs be better than going to Combat Archer for live fire exercises and a lot more fun for the pilots.

One thing I like about being at the AFB in the middle of nowhere Idaho, I get to see Eagles fly everyday I come to work.
In work and lurk mode, checking off headset for now will come back on when I get home.
Where I live, in West Tennessee, I frequently have a formation of Blackhawk or Apache choppers fly right over the house, low enough for window shaking. Just yesterday, an Apache executed a long, sweeping bank turn right on top of me, no higher than 5-600ft. I love seeing that! I’m not sure if they are from Ft.Campbell (101st Screaming Eagles) or an Army National Guard airstation nearby. Maybe both. That is the sound of freedom. Take that San Fran Nan.
Sometimes I get my own U.S. Army airshow right at home. This is what I get to see from my yard:
AH-64 Apache
UH-60 Blackhawk
CH-47D Chinook
These are in various combinations. A couple of months ago, 3 Chinooks, 2 Blackhawks and 2 Apaches went right over the house, in formation, 500ft. SW to NE. That rumbled the whole neighborhood!
I’m glad I don’t live in Naggin’ Nancy’s district or there would have been stinky hippie types protesting it.

Did any of you follow that 60 Minutes link and read what he said in the interview? Among all Ahmadinejad’s usual lies, here’s the important quote for us to really think about:

Oh, yes, he’ll be paying his respects to Americans all right. He’s obviously chomping at the bit for the opportunity to spew filth about “root causes” from his lying piehole right at the site that is the heart of our sorrow and rage toward him and his Muslim hate-faith.
Even on 9/11 itself I was not filled with the desperate urge to come to New York that I feel today. On that sad day that I’ll never be able to forget, I knew that the best I could do to help was kneel where I was and pray. Today I am filled with such revulsion for this personification of evil that I wish with all my heart that I could be in New York to join others like myself to physically prevent him from coming anywhere near Ground Zero with his intent of poisoning the air we breathe and assaulting our ears and our reason with his hell-stench words.
In my heart I cry with the impotence that geographic distance imposes and beg as many of you as possible to stand up for those of us who can’t be there — stand up with an incredible strength of numbers to show this desecrater that we will not take his crap anymore!!
We American citizens may not be able to prevent him from speaking at the UN, but we can and should show him what we think of him by preventing his incursion into any other part of New York and most especially never to come near Ground Zero.

Folks, I have been SHOCKED to discover today that many folks DO NOT REMEMBER, or possibly NEVER KNEW that this character is PHOTOGRAPHED with our Iranian Embassy hostages in a manner that displays HIS KEY LEADERSHIP POSITION in invading the Embassy and taking our Embassy people hostage, and in murdering some of the people there. That there are photographs and key witnesses that prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt.
That was 444 DAYS!
Those are the kind of charges with NO STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS on them, and the charges are common to all nations who have and host Embassies!
There is no excuse for tolerating his presence here – or for tolerating any politicians who do so.
