You are wrong. All the 1979 Embassay hostages have said that it is was Ahmadinejad who was the ring leader and supervised the torture of our citizens.

Here is a Russian newspaper published photo that proves it but I am sure you will say it proves nothing.

"Perhaps the most damning evidence against Ahmadinejad with regard to the hostage-taking came from Bani-Sadr, Iran's president during the early days of the Khomeini revolution."

"He has adamantly affirmed Ahmadinejad was one of the kidnappers who held 52 Americans for 444 days. He said the former student leader was in the embassy throughout the hostage crisis."

"Ayatollah Khomeini's deputy, Ayatollah Khamenei, demanded of him a constant report on what is happening in the embassy," he said."

"When told Ahmadinejad denied the accusation, Bani-Sadr laughed."

"What do you want?" he said. "That he should not deny it? I was president, and I know the details, and I am telling you for sure that he was there, though his role was not organizational. He was the chief reporter to Khamenei."

"Sadr added that Ahmadinejad initially opposed the hostage-taking but changed his mind once Khomeini gave his support."

"At least six former American hostages agree the president of Iran played a key role in interrogating and abusing them."

BTW, I am curious, are you an American?

On September 24th, 2007 at 1:26 pm, sausage said:

1) (There is a New York Times article about his Israel comments - but I don’t expect you to read it as we all know the NYT is PURE EVIL!!! etc)

From the article you cited:

"All official translations of Mr. Ahmadinejad's statement, including a description of it on his Web site (www.president.ir/eng/), refer to wiping Israel away. "

"So did Iran's president call for Israel to be wiped off the map? It certainly seems so. Did that amount to a call for war? That remains an open question."

So what definitive proof do you have to bolster YOUR argument from that article?

2) Because we all know American weapons have certainly never killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in Iraq.

HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS? Each time that number has been mentioned, it has been contradicted.

And - why do you seem to claim that the US is the major cause of death to civilians when the insurgents and Al Qaida are the primary perpetrators of the use of car bombs and the main cause of civilian deaths and injuries?

3) Who should decide what countries can have nuclear power or weapons?

Would you have allowed Adolph Hitler's Germany to have nuclear weapons?

Who should decide or at least have a say is the United States / NATO / United Nations - with the US as, historically, the greatest force for freedom in the world.

4) No proof he was one of the hostage takers in 1979

Several of the hostages themselves have identified him as one of their captors.

LOVE the fact people are branding him a terrorist! I mean, that makes perfect sense…. anyone who is against us - TERRORIST!!!

Poor Ahmadinejad, he's so misunderstood. He didn't mean destroy Israel. It was just a figure of speech. And he would never allow weapons into Iraq... to be used on American troops... It must be some kind of mistake. Oh, and his nuclear ambitions are for peaceful purposes. And no, he couldn't have been one of the hostage takers in 1979... that's just crazy talk.
Mean ol' conservatives... you should be ashamed of yourself... labeling him as a terrorist.

He lead an asasination team into Viena where they killed a Kurdish leader, Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou.

The relevant quote:

"Charges against Ahmadinejad have been handed over to the public prosecutor's office, according to Interior Ministry spokesman Rudolf Gollia."

Keep in mind those charges where filed in 2005
