What the MSM considers link-worthy blogging on Ahmadinejad

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 25, 2007 04:47 PM

When last we looked in on the Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s bloggers, they were mocking the FBI’s attempts to track down two suspicious men on Seattle-area ferries by holding a haiku contest.

So, what do they link to today in the aftermath of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s appearance at Columbia University? Student newspaper accounts, perhaps? Nope. Photoblogging of the events in NYC? Nope. blog commentary round-ups? Nope. On-the-ground reports from the counterprotests? Nope.

Try: A gossip site contest asking readers whether Ahmadinejad is “Hot or Not.”

Seriously.

What else can you expect from the loons representing the MSM in the Seattle area? I really used to like the Puget Sound area in my younger days. Doubt if I will even go back for a visit, just can’t put up with the liberals and anarchists these days.

The PI is considered MSM? That’s giving the benefit of assuming circulation and readership isn’t it? :)

They’ve been kept afloat off some printing agreement via the Times for quite awhile now. Won’t break my heart when the ax finally falls. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of lefties.

Wondering whether a man who wants to wipe other countries off the map is “hot or not” is something I’d have expected to have seen debated in my high school newspaper days.

There seems to be a serious lack of adult supervision at the Seattle P-I.

I vote - NOT. He is NOT hot enough. Israel will fix that soon as a nuke is in his future. That is not hate speech, just what I think the future holds when Iran makes the mistake of not taking Israel seriously. How many times will people of this world underestimate what it takes and the price you pay for eliminating the Jews? I do not think you will see Israel go down without a fight and they have a great military.

MM, this post of yours is an example of what bloggers are calling nitpicking. You look at blogs from the other side, no matter how obscure or little read, find something you object to, then try to claim that this tars the entire side.

Can’t you see that the post is a joke? If Charlie Chaplin could make fun of Hitler, why can’t someone in Seattle make fun of Ahmadinejad?

Speaking of which, did you see that Ahmadinejad was a laughing stock at his speach at Columbia? He lost far more stature by going than he would have lost by being prevented from going. Free speach, even for Ahmadinejad, even for a lier like him, spreads the truth.

You may have a point, but with the PI much of what they support is so far left that it’s hard to know whether a particular effort on their part is serious or meant to be funny. They’ve kind of entered the realm of “you can’t make this stuff up.”

Perhaps (hopefully)he lost stature by allowing everyone to see him. Unfortunately, I think to much of the world he’s being played as ‘victim’ of the mean President of Columbia by saying mean things to the President of Iran.

    From the BBC link above:
Lee Bollinger’s behaviour toward his guest [Ahmadinejad] was simply so rude

Exactly Ann! Bollinger is going to be the epitome of the “ugly American” and Ahmedemijad got his “counting coup” moment. Badly played all the way around by Columbia, the Press Club and all others who legitimized him the last few days.
