At camp, around the campfire, my Dad used to tell us a story which went as follows:

“It was late at night on the coast of Spain. Four men were sitting around a campfire. One spoke up, he said ‘Alphonse, tell us story!” So Alphonse told them a story, ‘It was late at night on the coast of Spain. Three men were sitting around a campfire, one spoke up and said, ‘Alphonse, tell us a story!’ So Alphonse spoke up and ‘It was late at night on the coast of Spain, two men were sitting around a campfire. One spoke up and said, ‘Alphonse, tell us a story. So Alphonse told them a story …”

I never understood that story until now.

Never make camp when there’s an Alphonse around.</blockquote>

Wise man, your dad is. That story is a keeper. Thank you.

And thank you to MM for posting this story - insuring that Shiri's life will continue to be celebrated by many who did not have the good fortune of crossing paths with her in this life.

Shiri and other victims of religious violence will not be forgotten to the sands of time.
I agree with the other posts, that until America faces up, identifies the enemy that is knocking at the gate, then we will have alot more "Shiri's" of our own (close to three thousand on 9/11).
May her soul rest in peace...

Sigh. Ah, how sad. Another tragedy (using liberal vocabulary that won't acknowledge the existence of evil). Another dignified protest. A shake of the head, and, "Well, whaddya gonna do?"

Is there anyone else out there who is saying that maybe, just maybe, after the 28-year Iranian war against America, including hostages, the Beirut bombing in 1983 that killed 241 servicepeople, the Khobar Towers bombing, and many dead soldiers in the Iraqi war - maybe, just maybe, it's time for us to fight back?

Nah, my bad. Just go back to sleep, America. Whatever possessed FDR to declare war on Japan and Germany just because they declared war on us? No, let's talk sports instead.

How low have we sunk compared with our forefathers that we are unwilling to lob a pebble into Iran in response to the hundreds of Americans they've murdered?
