San Fran Marine ban: Traffic chief is “ashamed”

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 26, 2007 05:11 PM

Following up on the post I did a few days ago about the Marines being spurned from San Francisco, here’s John Gibson’s interview with the city traffic chief, a Marine himself with a son on his third tour of duty in Iraq, who’s “ashamed” of what San Fran has done.

Would that SF Mayor Gavin Newsom express even an ounce of that shame.

…Film Commission Executive Director Stefanie Coyote would only allow the Marine’s production crew to film on California Street if there were no Marines in the picture. They wound up filming the empty street and will have to superimpose the Marines later.

    Ain’t that sumthin?!

“Traffic control was the issue“excuse (fixed that for ya’),”explained Stefanie Coyote.”

Anyone living in San Francisco should be ashamed.

Given SF’s recent history with the military, I can’t believe the Navy is still willing to have fleet week there.
Why don’t they let all of those Sailors and Marines spend their few and hard earned dollars in a city that appreciates them for who they are and what they do?

As for SF, it can slide off into the bay for all I care about it.

Walter, I am also wondering why in the world the Navy continues to patronize the “City by the Bay”, with their fleet week-families coming to visit and spending bucks, military personnel out and about spending bucks, etc. I just wonder why the Navy continues to have their Fleet Week in that city.
I refuse to go there ever again and have even spent more money to avoid flying into their airport to change planes.
Again, I do have to wonder what the Navy is thinking. Is there anyone that knows anyone who could address this that is a in the inner ring of the Pentagon?

Perhaps they should have just filmed it without requesting permission.

Then when the City complained they could have just shrugged their shoulders and said:

“We don’t ask - don’t tell. That’s our policy. Thank Bill Clinton.”

On the other hand, I can see why San Francisco would deny their request - seeing as they have to keep the streets open for things like oversize groups of bicyclists who terrorize drivers, gay pride parades, and other such important issues.

    ( sarcasm off )

I wonder if those smug San Franciscans realize that the freedom they enjoy, the safety and security they feel, is a direct result of the actions of those Marines, and Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen.

Those who served before and serve now have made the United States the most dangerous place in the world for any nation to attack. It is well known that attacks on American soil would be answered by those very same Marines that San Francisco spits on, and that’s enough of a deterrent for all but the maddest of madmen!

They know they’ll never find themselves under attack, fleeing enemy bombs, or diving for cover, and they dare refuse Marines the right to stand on “their” bridge? They should kiss the ground that any Marine walks upon, and thank him for preserving their right to be a dirty, dope-smoking, commie, hippie JERK!

Makes me honestly wonder how their minds work. How do they rationalize that type of abhorrent treatment of their own -honorable- military while enjoying the safe, free and happy life provided by the supreme sacrifices of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen?

    Incredible.

Come to the Carolinas. We love the military here. We buy them dinner at our restaurants, give them discounts at the store, and shake their hands at the mall even though we’ve never met them before.

As for SF, I haven’t been there since 1970 on the way home from Vietnam and I don’t intend to go back any time soon. The pols in that city are a bunch of losers who don’t deserve the freedoms that our military bought with their blood.

I’m sure there are some decent folks living in the area and I feel sorry for them. I don’t know how they put up with all the BS.

The SFPD Captain is a great guy and he and his son are true Americn heroes.

The solution to the problem is simple: challenge Stephanie Coyote’s authority to make an executive decision on a matter that is vital to our national security-recruiting.

As Film Commissioner, this decision does not fall within her administrative purview- simply because it is a government matter related to national defense.

But does the US government have the political will to nail these loons? Somewhere in the Pentagon there is a Clintonista cabal that is letting this happen.

Time to clean house and send them packing. We are at war. Let them sue the government. We have a war to fight.

And while they are at it, nail Peter Coyote and Stephanie Coyote for income tax “irregularities”.

Lotsa ways to get your way in government if you have the juevos rancheros to go for it.

Yoo-hoo! Anybody home?!?!?!?!?! Is this thing on?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    America sleeps.

Another way around the Gay Mafia running the SFO Board of Stupefiers is to use conservative media operatives to write a few stories on Diane Feinstein’s trail of pork on defense contracts and earmarks. And raise the question as to why “her City” is anti-military when she is pro-military when it comes to hubby bubby’s business affairs.

10 to 1 she’d be on the horn to her Boy Mayor Gavin Newsome to let the film get made.

Heat. Applied properly and the job gets done. Washington appears to be a little light on want to on this one.

Is it just me or does anybody else feel just a little put off by the lead “whine” over Coyote’s decision?

That was not an empowered response. Was that the only guy involved on the oppposing side? Why does that get the lead in all of this?

W-H-U-S-S. And why emit such a weak response AND trot your son out. Was that supposed to make Stephanie change her pea-wit mind over this.

Why are we reacting to this situation instead of crafting a power-based response that leaves the SFO Film Commissioner standing as if she has more clout than the OPOTUS?

React. React. React. Lose to these losers everytime.

A City Council is no match for the POTUS or the Pentagon or the Department of State, Treasury or Justice.

Can we please have some leadership, Mr. Bush?

You are the Commander in Chief. Pull the plug on the City’s roads and bridges. Grind the City machine to a halt. Newsome would cave in one hour.

Please. Think. Then do something to rectify the situation and put the Board of Stupefiers out of business for interfering in matters of National Security.

The question was: If the Presidential election were held today, who would you vote for?
    6 persons answered:
    3 went for Obama
    1 went for Kucinich
1 said it was too early to have developed an informed choice
1 said they were all crooks and liars so none deserved a vote.

Personal experience shows it goes downhill from there
