The enormity of the military conflict in Iraq was spelled out in the simplest of all admissions tonight:
Among all of the leading Democratic candidates for president, none was willing to commit to a promise in a campaign debate that all of the U.S. combat forces deployed in Iraq will be gone by 2013, the end of the next president’s term in office.
“It’s hard to project four years from now,” said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, at the start of a debate of the Democratic candidates in Hanover, N.H.
“”It is very difficult to know what we’re going to be inheriting,” said Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, who has vowed that if President Bush has not ended the war in Iraq by the time the next president takes office, “I will.’’
“”I cannot make that commitment,” said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, answering the question posed in a televised debate in the state that will hold the first of the presidential primary elections in January.
‘What I heard tonight was, even at the end of their terms the war will not end,” said Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico, promising to bring the troops home as president.
“”It’s important for candidates for president to tell the American people not just what they want to hear, but what they need to hear,” Obama said.

The moonbats are back again in Washington this weekend for another anti-war, surrender-now rally. They’ve been amassing a week-long “Encampment” in front of Congress.
Perhaps they should move it in front of the DNC.

Yes. His testimony…and our troops’ blood, toil, tears and sweat.
Americans don’t like to lose wars, and given the successes that Petraeus has generated, more Americans see an opportunity to persevere in Iraq. Leading Democrats realize now that running as the party of defeat when we continue to gain ground may sound good in the primaries, but will be disastrous in the general election
Maybe that White Flag wasn’t such a terrific prop after all, eh?

It’s very possible that the Sociocrat National Convention will be a repeat of the 68 convention. The ‘Lose The War Now’ crowd in 68 gave a show. This time we’ll have it on HDTV with surround sound. Interesting that the ones in 68 that were tear gassed and jailed are now running the Democrap Party.

I don’t know who the donkey presidential candidates think they’re fooling – the moonbat defeatists who make up their base are going to be bursting blood veins in their temples after this latest shuffle… and given all that the Dems have tried so far to smear the military and lose the war, anybody who thinks they won’t resume those efforts with gusto if they gain the White House is smoking something peculiar.
You could be right – at least, I hope you are. The poll numbers for Republicans at the moment remain terrible; but if the Democrats fracture over the war and
EvitaHillary gets Hsu’s financial shenanigans tied around her ankles, then maybe we can avoid a Perfect Storm (Dems in charge of both houses of Congress and the presidency) after the next election.No, it is just not complete without the hammer, sickle, star and cresset moon.

I’ve had my caffeine this morning but it doesn’t help any more! Too old I guess. Even with all the MSM blather about 80% of Americans want this to stop, etc. etc. these Benedict Arnolds are coming to the realization that these lies are not flying. So these creeps stick their finger in the wind to see which way it is blowing and put out pronouncements with a sail hoping to catch a breeze. Shallow, empty vessels all.
So typical of the liberal politcians:Create a controversy where none exists,make empty promises to their lemmings,and after the money is raised and their followers are completely blinded-backpedal,because they didn’t believe their own words.
The Hilldebeast’s health-care plan is another example.When she was first b****,it was “affordable”,now it’s “mandatory”.Since when is affordable synonamous with”mandatory”? These people are the personification of the old liberal tenet”If you can’t blind them with brilliance,baffle them with bulls***”.
No,they haven’t changed their minds or have a change of heart or any other b.s. they might claim,they all knew all along what pulling out would mean,they just want to get elected.
Every time I hear these candidates say they will “end the war” as if it’s like picking up the football and going home, I can imagine Mackmood Aaackmadinajad with that silly little grin on his face. The term”useful idiots” comes to mind.
But it goes so well with their yellow backs, and lilly-colored livers…
I want to bring another aspect to this argument about the war. I supported a very strong response to 9/11. I supported the initial efforts in Iraq. But it seems that over the last two years that we are not making progress and there does not seem to be a readily definable goal for the military or our nation. Bush seems to desire to bring “democracy” to the Middle East. Yet it is readily apparent that they have no idea as to what this is and with the multiple factions daily trying to kill each other I doubt this is a realistic goal. For that matter, is our own country a democracy? We certainly can vote but our leaders are clearly not listening to what we desire as the path for our nation to take. I was big in the rebirth of the Republican party in the early 80′s. But that party has more in common with the Dems than with the Goldwater ideas that we desired at that time. Now we have both parties trying to socialize my business and enslave me (physicians).
I could probably take they stupidity in Washington with the management of Iraq and the “war on terror” (which seems to be more of a war on law-abiding citizens like me). But look at the expense. They now want to spend an additonal $240 billion. This at a time when our economy is coming apart. We have an economic situation that is similar if not worse than the one in 1929. Bush and the Fed have been able to have both deflatin and inflation in the same setting. Our government is spending at a rate that is unheard of and the dollar is in free fall.
We need to come home. We need to regroup and determine what our goals are as a nation and stop the hemorrage of money. I want to think about myself and what is good for my family and not what Iraq and the rest of the world needs.
So, their choices are Kucinich, Dodd and Richardson. I hope they pick Dennis, he’ll be more fun to watch.

Yet another person whom elects just to throw Gen. Petreaus report out the window disregarding it entirely and covering their ears.
That is the other problem with this world – we have ours let them get theirs (democracy in this case).
America has always led the way for freedom and democracy. We want people to be free and to participate in free world trade. When we ignore dictators – they ALWAYS, without exception, become a bigger problem not just with their neighbors, but the rest of the world as well.
The other problem is fast food. We Americans are lazy and want everything now (even if we have to pay $3000 for a stupid game). So, Iraq has been freed from a horrible dictator who was the biggest murder of Muslims in the world but they are slow in getting their act together. We had a civil war well after the 13 colonies were established and we did not come together as a nation until much later (and I question that we are together as a nation now but that is a different rabbit trail). Since America’s “invasion”, the women are more free and the people have voted (even the women). Progress is being made but Americans think it should be instant. Since, after a few years, they are not up and running like a well oiled (no pun intended) machine – pull out.
That is very short sighted and will have been the poorest example of how to establish a democracy that could ever be shown to the world.
No, we should stay the course and the people of Iraq will be better for it and so will America.

Then you’d better think about what ‘defeat’ for America in Iraq would bring to your doorstep, and to the lives of your family members.
This is not something that can be walked away from without it bringing murderous Islamic extremists here.
My city, Stockton, had a antiwar protest the other day. Yep. A whole 10 people were there.
I saw evidence of Petraeus Derangement Syndrome replacing standard BDS, in a sign that said “Generals Lie, Soldiers Die”. And of course, the more mundane “Honk to bring our troops home”.
Because we all know that honking brings troops home. It took all my willpower not to stop and ‘discuss’ the issue with them. But then I noticed they were all around an age that would have put them in their early 20′s during the Vietnam war. . .and it made a little more sense.
Democrats make promises they never intend to carry out. Sounds like the making of a third party to me.
Don’t want our great-granddaughters wearing burqas or losing their heads. The military knows their mission and deserve your support. God bless them all!

#33 Awwww…do you need more sand in your sandbox? Grow up. When the Dems give us socialized medicine, the good physician will not have much quality time left for his family or $$$ leftover from taxes. My sister has been in the medical field for many years in a large midwest city. She said the next step is translators required for every doctor’s office. That’s not a joke. This is serious.
This OIF vet is doing his best not to let this happen either by speaking up on campus and letting my liberal college professors know that VETS are the most dangerous people in the world:
Vets are what they are afraid of because:
a) We are smart enough to get into college withOUT preferences.
b) Seen more of the world in 3 years than most of them have ever seen in their entire lifetime.
c) We are opinionated that comes from a character built through struggle and facing nightmares that the protected will never know.
d) We have people who believe in our mission and have supported us in ways we can never repay.
e) We think for ourselves and don’t need a professors talking points to sound intelligent to the sheep. (Thanks Dr. Mike Adams)
f) We make our voices heard by blogging,and sending letters to the editors of our local newspapers.
and g) MM, and people on this blog make it all worth while to do our best to tick off a liberal professor!
