Freezer burn: Revisiting the case of Democrat Rep. William “Cold Cash” Jefferson

Photoshop via Suitably Flip: Break out the Bribe-Loc baggies again!
Giving credit where credit is due, the Washington Post does a good job covering the latest on the William “Cold Cash” Jefferson case. The culture of corruption is alive and well:
Before searching Rep. William J. Jefferson’s New Orleans home in August 2005, FBI agents confronted him with a video that showed him accepting $100,000 from a government informant, according to a prosecution document filed yesterday in federal court in Alexandria.
Afterward, the Louisiana Democrat sank back into a couch in his living room and “with total dejection remarked ‘what a waste,’ ” according to the government account, which did not elaborate on his comment.
Jefferson then “questioned how his reputation could survive” and expressed concern whether the search warrant affidavit could be permanently sealed to keep the information from being made public, according to the document.
Meanwhile, on the same day, FBI agents found $90,000 of the $100,000 in marked bills in Jefferson’s freezer at his Capitol Hill home. The government alleged that Jefferson took the money from a Virginia businesswoman who was working as an informant, to bribe a Nigerian official in a business deal.
The pretrial document provides a glimpse into the public corruption investigation’s early months. It was among 14 answers filed yesterday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Alexandria in response to motions filed this month by Jefferson’s lawyers.
Yep. On top of everything else, the corruptocrat tried to solicit the feds’ advice on how to suppress the facts from the tax-paying public.
And the demands from Democrats for this crapweasel to step down are…where?

There are several reasons why he isn’t being asked to step down. First, his “stance” wasn’t wide enough. Second, when shown the video, he tapped his foot 4 times which gives him a pass. Third, there was no nod from the “Justice Brothers” so everything is cool man, cool, especially the cash in the freezer.
Anyone say why the wheelsofjustice are going so slowly in this case?
Speaking of lying crapweasels that need to step down Larry Craig better be back in Idaho Monday looking for a new job! Governor Butch Otter already has his replacement picked out and it will not be pretty for the toe tapper if he doesn’t resign. Too bad liberals don’t see a problem with high crimes and misdemeanors perpetrated in their ranks. They almost wear it as a badge of honor (to bad they have none).
Where are the justice brothers on this one? If the golves fit you must NOT aquit!!!!!!!!!
I can only surmise that the majority of Mr. William Jefferson’s constituents and fellow Democrats in the House feel the only thing he did wrong was get caught.
I see no outrage or calls for his resignation. Their silence speaks volumes.
Ms. Pelosi would be wise to remember the old adage that when she points her finger at the Republican “culture of corruption” three fingers are pointing back at her and her fellow Democrats.
Actualy, the real question IS why is this taking so long?
He got caught red handed, why has this not had a court date?
And, where is the ethics commitee?
Here are some reasons:
1. He’s a liberal Demoncrap.
2. He’s Black.
3. Those that should care are afraid of making waves with those testy libs.
4. Most DO NOT care because they have to stick together…most are unethical as we all know.
5. He has the goods on others, so playing by the gangsta rules – is in full force.

This is as open and shut as a case can get. Therefore, I predict the outcome to be a wrist slap, followed by a re-election.
In all seriousness, this shows how low the repubs have sunk. They should be shouting night and day about crap like this, Hsu, et al, but…?

I expect you are right, except for the “slammer” part. We all know tht you have a “get out of jail free” card, if you are a Democrat and black.
Jus’ sayin.
You beat me to it, Gayle. It’s all quite simple. He’s a liberal black democrat. Instant pass. It all shows what is wrong with our politicians and why I can’t stand the “me first, party second, country third” Congress.
You mean next week?
nah, he’ll be teaching ETHICS to future leaders of America on how NOT TO GET CAUGHT…
item :
# 1) Dont leave cash in your fridge.
# 2) Ask how to keep it private BEFORE you get caught.
# 3) learn more about those pesky marked bills.
#4) maybe try printing?
#5) Those post Clinton FBI folk are REAL cops.
Oh yeah, when he said “What a waste”…what he meant?????
.
He only spent 10 grand.
Yes. He will teach Ethics, Political Science and American History.
