No Newt for prez
McCain-Feingold gets in the way of Newt Gingrich’s presidential aspirations.
Looks like he’s got his hands full with “American Solutions.”
More here.

I didn’t expect him to run, but I do like him. He’s a good fiction writer too.
Our loss.
Yeah, the system we have for selecting our leader is poor. A true leader would not want to go through the ridiculous process to get elected. It isn’t about ideas anymore. It is about money and lying and corruption.
That’s why we get to a situation where Clinton (one of the most corrupt politicians in Washington) is the ‘front runner’.
I saw Air Force One yesterday doing touch and goes at our little airport here for some unannounced reason. That would be the only incentive I would have for running. Just give me the plane and you can have everything else. Wow it was majestic at full throttle (for the go around) just above my head!
Newt still has good ideas and he’ll be prominent in the debates anyway.
Newt screwed up his term as Speaker his Contract With America was great…then he became a Green Weenie.
Also his speech delivery is aweful…
He’d have had my vote. Agree with #3 above: the way we choose a president rules out anyone who would dare speak the truth/ speak his mind. Sound bites, baby…
Somehow I doubt the same rational would stop a Dhimmi from running—-Oops,my bad-I forgot Dhimmis aren’t subject to the same campaign restictions as Republicans.
I think Newt will make a great Vice President. Do not give up on him yet:)
I have to agree with #3 as well.
Everyone have a great day
No smarter man in politics.
And no worse candidate for President.
He would better serve as senior adviser to the President. Secretary of State or Ambassador to the U.N. He has a great sense of priorities as relates to OUR national security and the rest of the world. He is also a great historian. The next administration would be remiss not to use him in a major way.
He is a great conservative strategist, but I think he has too much baggage to run for President. If a true conservative candidate was smart he would take a lot of advice from Newt.

Newt was the conservative, the only conservative. All Repubs have tons of baggage, real or not, does not matter who they may be.
Newt was our best and possibly only chance to beat the socialists.
What a loss!
Newt is not interested in VP or any other position.
He will advise, that is all.
My god 4 to 8 more years of garbage politics. Will we survive another 8 years??????
What a loss to freedom!
I fear for our children
A Pleasant surprise to read how many other readers respect Newt. He seems to have come a long way from his days in Congress. Enjoy reading and hearing him more and more. He would be a valuable resource for any adminstration, Dem or Repub.
Not surprised, but disappointed regardless.
He is the best man for the job from all candidates I have seen.
Just pray for our country. We are getting ready for the ride of our lives.
Maybe 2012?
The real reason Gingrich can’t get into the race is that not that many people like him. The only reason he made noise about getting in is that not that many people like any of the Republican candidates.
Without Newt, the present line-up of conservatives running have left me without a candidate. Who ever declares they’ll close the border, enforce our immigration laws without opening the floodgate, protect American jobs, and learn how to balance a budget may qualify. I do not believe the vote last November that placed the liberals in charge had anything to do with the war, but more to do with the illegal alien issue. Conservatives are more than fed up with the pandering from those they placed in office.
damn
I like him..he’s smarter than any of the other candidates by a long shot IMO.
Of course he said dumb things while speaker like, “young children might be better off in an orphants home than in a drug house with an addicted, prostitute mother, no dad and a sleazy pimp that drops in every now and then.
I like him, and he certainly would have enhanced the debates, which have become tedious and repetitive IMHO. But had he won, which I doubt he could have given that he was polling so low (Fred Thompson polled alot higher when he was unannounced), the media would have hammered him in a way we’ve never seen before (esp. since it’d be against Hildog).
However, make no mistake, his prescence will still be felt.
I was at a wedding welcome party on Friday, chatting with a cousin who was a fellow conservative about 2008. We both had agreed he just might be the guy. Smart, solid as a rock, bullish in debates, impenetrable from liberal attacks…he would laugh them off. Saturday at the wedding, first thing he said was ‘Newt’s a no go’…I was like wth? He was JUST talking about how if the people wanted him enough, he would find no way to refuse the call of the people. (Hmm, now where have I heard that before…) Two days later he’s scratching? Well… alrighty then!!
