Not even a good shot at diversion, DK, but as far back as I can recall the “Great Tavis Smiley Debates” has never been of any importance to anyone, especially viewers. They could’ve run another pledge drive and gotten more watchers.

Now as for outright avoidance you have to consider the Democrats confessed abject terror at just the thought of an unscripted Q&A at a Fox News debate.
