Rush Limbaugh, phony soldiers, and the Left’s desperate need for its own “Betray Us” moment
Update: Rush vs. Dingy Harry.
Update: Moonbats continue to push to kick Rush off the Armed Forces Network. More here.
***
So, word is that the Democrats will introduce a House resolution Monday condemning Rush Limbaugh for his remarks about phony soldiers. Brian Maloney points out that ABC News aired a report on phony soldiers and Operation Stolen Valor two days before Rush made his remarks. Asks Maloney: “Given the overwhelming evidence to support Limbaugh’s contention that he really was talking about phony soldiers who have faked their service, how does the left justify continuing this fabrication?”
Here is what this phony fiasco is really all about: It’s about the MoveOn.org Democrats trying to save face in the aftermath of the disastrous “General Betray Us” smear. They want their own moment of righteous (or rather, lefteous) indignation, their own empty proof that they really, really, really do support the troops. They want to shift attention away from MoveOn.org, its bully tactics, and its thug brethren at Media Matters. They are making a pathetic attempt to equate the “Betray Us” attack–which was deliberately timed for publication and maximum p.r. damage to our military command when the world was watching our top general in Iraq testifying in Congress–with a radio talk show host’s ruminations about anti-war soldiers who have faked their military records/history.
Bottom-of-the-barrel desperation.
I have written and reported extensively on the Winter Soldier Syndrome phenomenon. It goes far beyond Jesse MacBeth, the faker busted by the blogosphere. As I wrote in August in my column on the Scott Thomas Beauchamp fiasco:
Ever since John Kerry sat in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and accused American soldiers of wantonly razing villages “in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan,” the Left has embraced a small cadre of self-loathing soldiers and soldier wannabes willing to sell their deadened souls for the anti-war cause.
Think Jimmy Massey, the unhinged Marine who falsely accused his unit of engaging in mass genocide against Iraqis.
Think Jesse MacBeth and Micah Wright, anti-war Army Rangers who weren’t Army Rangers.
Think Josh Lansdale, the anti-war Army medic who attacked former GOP Sen. Jim Talent by spinning a bogus health care tale swallowed whole by Dem Sen. Claire McCaskill, Gen. Wesley Clark and the far Left VoteVets.org crew.
Think Amorita Randall, the NYTimes-championed former naval construction worker who told the Times magazine that she served in Iraq, was in a Humvee that blew up, and was raped twice while serving in the Navy–but, in fact, had never served in Iraq.
Winter Soldier Syndrome will only be cured when the costs of slandering the troops outweigh the benefits. Exposing Scott Thomas Beauchamp and his brethren matters because the truth matters. The honor of the military matters. The credibility of the media matters.
Think it doesn’t make a difference? Imagine where Sen. John Kerry would be now if the Internet had been around in 1971.
Instead of confronting the problem, MoveOn.org/MediaMatters Democrats are preparing to shoot the messenger.
The reported sponsor of the resolution is Democrat Rep. Mark Udall. He’s running for Senate in Colorado. Yes, he’s trying to win a Senate seat by running against Rush Limbaugh. The Colorado Index has the text of his proposed resolution:
110TH CONGRESS
1ST SESSION H. CON. RES.
Honoring all Americans serving in the Armed Forces of the United States and condemning the attack by broadcaster Rush Limbaugh on the integrity and professionalism of some of those Americans.IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Mr. UDALL of Colorado submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on
CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Honoring all Americans serving in the Armed Forces of the United States and condemning the attack by broadcaster Rush Limbaugh on the integrity and professionalism of some of those Americans.
Whereas on September 26, 2007, the broadcaster Rush Limbaugh told a nationwide radio audience that members of the Armed Forces who have expressed disagreement with current policies of the United States regarding military activities in Iraq are ”phony soldiers”; and
Whereas such a description constitutes an unwarranted slur on the integrity and professionalism of members of the Armed Forces who exercise their constitutional right to express their opinions regarding public policy in a manner consistent with good order and
discipline: Now, therefore, be itResolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring),
SECTION 1. Congress makes the following findings:
(1) Americans serving in the United States Armed Forces have volunteered for such service and have not been drafted for that purpose.
(2) Those who serve in the Armed Forces deserve the respect of all Americans for their willingness to undertake that service.
(3) Those who serve in the Armed Forces do not relinquish their constitutional right to express their opinions regarding public policy in a manner consistent with good order and discipline.
(4) The dedication and honor of Americans serving in the Armed Forces should not be impugned because of their exercise of such right.
SEC. 2. Congress –
(1) recognizes the service of all members of the Armed Forces serving in good standing and with honor to defend the United States, and the personal sacrifices made by them and their families;
(2) commits to judge the merits of the opinions of members of the Armed Forces regarding the policies of the United States, including those related to military actions in Iraq, without prejudice or personal bias, including refraining from unwarranted personal attacks;
(3) condemns in the strongest possible terms the personal attacks made by the broadcaster Rush Limbaugh impugning the integrity and professionalism of Americans serving in the Armed Forces who have expressed opinions regarding military actions in Iraq;
(4) honors all members of the Armed Forces and civilian personnel serving in harm’s way, as well as their families; and
(5) pledges to debate any supplemental funding request or any policy decisions regarding the war in Iraq with the solemn respect and the commitment to integrity that the sacrifices of these members of the Armed Forces and civilian personnel deserve
Like the “Betray Us” ad, this, too, will ultimately backfire.
As my post yesterday about MoveOn.org’s attempt to squelch criticism by t-shirt and bumper sticker sellers at Cafe Press underscored, the unhinged Left is beginning to alienate its own base with its any-means-necessary tactics.
You can only shoot yourself in the foot so many times…

Glenn Reynolds spells it out: “…the intent is to limit the ability of people like Limbaugh or O’Reilly to drive stories in the mainstream news as we get closer to the election. Expect more of this, with more targets.”
Yes. In other words: A backdoor restoration of the Fairness Doctrine.

Never surprises me any longer how low the this scum will sink to benefit themselves, while announcing their true beliefs…”to hell with America.”
So, the congress tables the bill to fund the war until January knowing full well that the money is desperately needed for spare parts and winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqis and Afghans but can find the time for this nonsense.
Disgusting.
I question Democrat Rep. Mark Udall’s patriotism and his sanity.
I must disagree. The caller Rush was talking to was not referring to Jesse MacBeth, he referred to “the real soldiers” who “want to be over in Iraq”. This of course implies that “the phony soldiers” do NOT want to be in Iraq. Context only hurts the cause here.
There are numerous examples of Rush referring to anti-war soldiers in this fashion. Another example of Rush’s idea of a phony…Paul Hackett joined “to pad his resume”; he was a “staff puke” simply because he came back and opposed the war.

These Dems are on drugs. My God! Do you think they have anything better to do? Like real legislation? I listen to Rush everyday and if you know anything about him it is his appreciation for our military. The ‘Left’ attacks he and others but look the other way with their comments and actions…..look at San Francisco, Seattle, Portland…..loons. I’ve had enough of this mess. Pray for 2008.
Ummm, out of the mouth of Rush:
http://influencepeddler.blogspot.com/2007/09/limbaugh-on-solid-ground-on-phony.html
Let them bring it on! It just calls attention to the fact that they don’t need facts. To liberals facts do not matter. Now what will happen is that more people will go to either Rush’s sight or You tube and see for themselves. More people have looked into MoveOn and Soros than before they ran the “Betray us” disgrace. Let the truth come out and it is amazing what happens,…..FREEDOM happens.
Michelle says, “You can only shoot yourself in the foot so many times…” Rush would answer, “They are pointing the gun a little higher.”
Udall is an idiot. I feel absolutely no support from any democrap as a family member that has waited three times for my husband to come home. I know he feels absolutely no love from these people either. In fact over the last 3 years, we have lost all respect for those with a D behind their names. I cannot fathom ever voting for one again unless there is a massive swing and they suddenly become conservative and truly support the troops and not this endless stream of garbage that comes from their pie holes.
Yeah, they’re trying to get around the Betray us thing. Too bad they won’t even though they’ll have their minions at the MSM and other places to try and help them out.
Their stupid resolution about the ad was telling. Here that stupid cow HIllary didn’t vote for the resolution that condemned moveon but did for the one that honored the Winter Soldier, John Kerry who was running in an election unlike the good General who was smeared because they didn’t like what he had to say. It’s really a willing suspension of disbelief isn’t it what these democraps do.
“Hey, I know, let’s push a story that says Rush Limbaugh hates the military. Then they’ll think we love the military.”
Retards.
More on Udall’s reasoning for the anti-Rush resolution: a need to get back in the good graces of his liberal/left/moonbat constituency in Colorado–and they aren’t buying Udall’s “meaningless” resolution.
The manufactured outrage needs to end. All of it makes mockery of the war.
The antics of a goose as it hears the salt and pepper shaker prepping it for the fire.
Wait til the public gets a whiff of Hillary’s health care plan and all the other garbage the DhimmiCraps are peddling as presidential candidates.
All the Soros money and DhimmiCrap leadership council nonsense is not going to salvage a party that is stuck in the 1960s. $5000 per baby born in the USA?!?!?!?!?!?!
If they tangle with Limbaugh they will come up short. There are so many ways to attack these 3 legged dogs.
Why does Congress even introduce any of this stupid “legislation”? Does a piece of paper saying “we don’t like this” have any legal power? It’s a waste of taxpayer dollars and politicians’ time. (Oh, and it drives up the amount of fossil fuels that need to be burned to power the lights in the Capitol building.
)
Symbolism over substance, people. All the libs are doing is giving Rush plenty more stuff to talk (and laugh) about. I’ve gotta make sure to listen to his show tomorrow!
These guys live in an alternate reality…

Lefty Smear Machine Gunning For Armed Forces Radio

A thousand pardons if you’ve already addressed this.
Well they better check out what Radio Equalizer has to say first
Jesse MacBeth is a phony and never earned the right to call himself a soldier; you only earn that right upon completion of Basic Training, which MacBeth did not. Scott Thomas Beauchamp is a sorry excuse for a soldier who falsely claimed to have been to war, witnessed atrocities, and been there in Iraq when soldiers verbally abused a female disfigured by an IED explosion. Congressman Murtha, a former Marine, is finally being called to task for slandering Marines when he said they had, “killed innocent civilians in cold blood.” None of them speaks for the brave men and women still in this fight who remain committed to victory.
If you want to hear an example of one of hundreds of thousands of real soldiers still in the fight, listen here.
The libs favorite sport is spotting deadbeats, the few that professional soldiers spent 90% of their times herding or processing for discharge.

Trying to make something out of nothing in order to make white flag Dems look good. Wow, what a plan for a Congress with its popularity at an all time low. Who came up with this gem of an idea? What a bunch of mental midgets.
Last week, Congressional resolutions to condemn a seditious group that purchased a libelous ad in a newspaper was considered “a waste of time” and soundly derided by various “progressive” groups and media figures.
This week, a Congressional resolution to condemn a radio talk show host for a remark taken out of context is excitedly touted by various “progressive” groups and media figures.
Is it really too much to expect a soupcon of consistency from these loons from week to week?
Folks, I hope you’re all pinging Udall or other complicit ilk on this farce! If they can’t read Rush’s website to get the truth, they sure aren’t bothering to check our comments here.
I don’t think these folks are in an alternate reality at all; I think they memorized the Soviet playbook a few decades back and still think it’ll work for them. There IS no reality! (Spoon, whatever…)
Honestly though; alternate reality, or deliberate crazy-making endless falsehoods; how does our nation recover from this plague? Can it?
While researching a letter to my Congressional delegation urging against Rep. Udall’s motion, I came across this:
An excerpt from “Courting the Abyss: Free Speech and the Liberal Tradition” by John Durham Peters at:
http://www.press.uchicago.edu/Misc/Chicago/662748.html
Although a bit rich for me (I had to look up some of the words), I found it a very interesting description of what might be going on with the Left, MoveOn, moonbats, etc.

Are House is made up of morons, our Senate of arrogant nitwits. Maccas all. Ask a liberal what it means, because no one else knows.
One of the problems is even some conservatives took Soros’ Media Matters word as fact because they hadn’t heard that part where Rush, in specific, immediately cited Macbeth as his case in point. They just had the butchered Media Matters version to go by and jumped the gun.
Even Rick went for the trap play of “Limbaugh attacks US troops” at his site:
LIMBAUGH IS A GOOSE
Keep Your Eye On The DREAM
This smudge Rush thing is a distraction from concentrating our attention and forces away from DREAM and its weasely open borders ilk as they slip under our radar.

I smell the death throes of Leftinistra losers.
Let’s just assume that Rush did do a bad. So what? The Leftinistra do it ALL the time EVERY stinking day.
What’s the difference? The difference is NOTHING.
This is another Leftinistra non-issue issue.
Congressman Mark Udall (D-CO) can add my name to that Congressional resolution; Jesse MacBeth is a phony soldier. He will not add it for his resolution is about shutting down the loud voices that expose the phony patriots at Media Matters and those who hate real soldiers at MoveOn.org.
While it might improve his thinking, I wonder if Rep. Udall would let a ‘brain surgeon’ operate on him after flunking out six weeks into medical school?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t Limbaugh and O’Reilly have some of the highest-rated programs on radio and television, respectively?
And what’s Congress’ approval rating right now? Oh, that’s right, about 11 percent.
These people are idiots. The longer they keep this up, the better the GOP’s chances of winning in November.
Liberals and Democrats can be their own worst enemy.

The most ethical Congress in history is still reaching for a new record low approval rating. These fake soldiers that can’t produce a DD 214 with an “Honorable Discharge” are the darlings of the left. Under the UCMJ providing a false official statement is a crime and it should be for these useful idiots that were not even fit to serve. Congress should be worrying more about passing appropriation bills instead of wasting time on this BS.
Unfortunately that is not how the average run of the mill American views the Limbaugh thing and the O’Reilly thing. Unfortunately, the average run of the mill American is uninformed and can only hold opinions within what the mainstream media tells them.
They are like sheep, and since the mainstream media is portraying the Limbaugh and O’Reilly smears as gospel truth most Americans don’t see this as a smear campaign. You have to remember….. A person is smart, but people are dumb.
As a veteran, I sent my letter to Rep Udall asking him to propose a resolution increasing the penalties to these phony soldiers.
Jimmy Massey, Jesse MacBeth, Micah Wright, Josh Lansdale and Amorita Randall … a sobering list of 21st Century John Kerry wannabes.
What bothers me even more about this list is that these individuals are just the ones that made a big enough splash that we heard about them and got the opportunity to challenge their stories and expose them as liars.
It makes me wonder how many more of these liars are out there poisoning the waters with the public that have not been exposed for what they are because they have not sought the MSM spotlight.
There were many liars like Kerry after Viet Nam as well but they didn’t get the notoriety and exposure that he did.
I know they exist now because a couple of months ago during a business trip I encountered one during a long layover at an airport when I decided to have a drink and something to eat.
An army PFC (looked to be early 20s) was rather loudly enthralling a small group of young people about his age with a stream of tales of the Iraq War.
I finally decided I’d heard enough and approached the group. I asked a couple of questions like where he was from, what units he had served with, and where and when all this stuff he was talking about had taken place.
His answers convinced me immediately he was lying and full of it.
He got very quiet when I very calmly said I thought he was lying about all of it and he had probably never even been to Iraq. The look on his face left no doubt that I was correct.
He got rather defensive as I took apart the statements that I had overheard one by one, but it was easy to trap him in conflicts with what he had said. For instance, some of the places he claimed he had been are in very different parts of the country, not even remotely close to one another geographically, and not part of a single US combat group’s area of responsibility.
I then explained to him that my personal policy when I cross paths with our military personnel in airports and restaurants is that I buy them a drink or pay for their meal to show my appreciation for all they are doing to protect us. I told him that his obvious lies to others about the war and his own actions had just excluded him from consideration. I then turned and went back to my own table.
He never finished his drink and quickly left the airport bar/grill without another word.
If I managed to silence just one like those mentioned in the MSM I feel it was worth the effort.

Now you know the real purpose of those “Bourqahs” …
I think it funny that more people are tuned into Rush than the Democratic Party. Losers all the way. When Congress has to go after an individual who disagrees with their perspective (template) THEY GO OUT AND TRY TO DESTROY HIM. SOUNDS LIKE SOUND POLITICIS TO ME.
If you think the Treason Media and fascist Democrats are going to suffer a backlash for their constant smears and lies, then you haven’t been paying attention to what memes have gained traction with the ignorant mall denizens.
I happened to catch a bit of the reptilian Bill Maher’s show from last Friday night and on his all-liberal panel - Rahm Emmanuel, Michael Eric Dyson, Pete Hamill - the brought up the smears about O’Reilly’s supposedly racist comments and proceeded to thrash him as being so typical of the ignorant, redneck, racism that animates 110% of the GOP membership. (They also said that the Civil Rights Act purged the Dems of all their racists who fled for the comfy white sheets of the GOP.) Nevermind that anyone who heard it or saw Juan Williams stick up for Bill knew that the charges were bogus, Bill and Co. either didn’t know that they were repeating lies or didn’t care. I’m not sure which is worse: ignorance of the facts or choosing to smear someone as a racist because to do otherwise would get them cross looks while partying at the Viper Room.
As MC 900 Ft. Jesus once rapped, “The truth is out of style.” Do you think the Treason Media is going to defend Rush in its reporting of this resolution? HA!!! They’re going to report that a resolution condemning Rush passed the House for his portraying anti-war vets as phonies. Then Kos and HuffPo and Media Matters and Crooks and Liars and Talking Points Memo will feed the info to their sheeple who will then flood Digg with posts to promote stories that repeat the slanderous meme to the front page and fill the comments with more of the same. Last Friday, the Rush thing was a top story at Digg and the first post was to the effect that anyone who listens to Rush is an enemy of the Constitution.
He had well over 100 kudos for that sentence.
What used to be called sedition has been redefined as patriotism. Free speech is reserved for only certain people and views. And with the megaphone the Treason Media provides, the general spinelessness of the Stupid Party, and the ignorance of the public more attuned to “Dancing with the Stars” than monks dying in Burma and Truth dying at home, these memes will not only take hold, they will become established as the new Truth and that will pretty much be that.
Yes
For one thing, they would never have been able to bury the true nature of his original discharge.
Oh, and lest I forget…
“terrig”…Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you.
There’s the heart of the matter - when will we get tired of letting them suffer NO REPURCUSSIONS for their damage, no matter how much damage they do???
I’m way beyond fed up. Way way way beyond it! No time in history did a healthy community tolerate the presence among themselves of a group as destructive as these Liberals.
Where on EARTH did regular folks ever get the idea they have an obligation to put up with this garbage??? For what earthly reason????
It ain’t a heavenly reason - you didn’t learn this “tolerance” from God, you don’t see it in Heaven!
“lefteous indignation”
HAHA! Perfect new phrase!
We talk about Islamofascism all the time, well we need to begin talking about Liberal Fascism as well, because the individuals that make up the elite of Liberalism are nothing but Fascists. Both points of view are our enemies and must be defeated by whatever means are required.
The Left won’t be happy until we’re all marching lock-step with them to Hilary’s coronation. Rush has proven to be a major obstacle to their goal, and they want to take him out. Hang tough, El Rushbo!
Your tax dollars at waste….
LMAO feebiebabe. Hit it right on the head.
The left wing is full of Stalinists, and this is further proof.
On the other hand, I believe that most conservatives wanted Air America to keep talking because it was (is) the best way defeat bad ideas. Get them out there, let’s hear the arguments on both sides and decide.
What a joke the resolution proposed by Udall is! He singles out Rush Limbaugh for comments made on air, but doesn’t call out MoveOn.org for it’s portrayal of General Patreus as a traitor in the NYTimes ad? It doesn’t call out the City of San Francisco for not allowing Marines to shoot a commercial in their streets?
If anyone’s a phony it’s Udall.
Was at a counter-protest talking to an OIF vet, his pro OIF comments where very good, we saw a couple guys in the anti-war protest wearing “Iraqi Vet for peace” tee-shirts and asked them where they served. Surprise! they didn’t. It’s more pervasice than imagined.
If only Al Gore had invented it earlier….;-)
Rush is a political entertainer, not a liar, he offers a point of view from a conservative perspective; is that why they try and cover his show with their lies. it won’t work with me. I truly detest The Leftest Democratic party as it stands today I will continue to be informed and vote conservatively where possible.
Why do people pay attention to what the left produces?
It seems to me that the left is grasping for anything that screams, hypocrit, racist, inhumane, cruelty, etc…me thinks they are afraid of the truth, hmmm…
The upside of this controversy is that the Leftist “Rushophobia” is proof that he is very effective as a spokeman for the Right Wing.
Cheers, Ronbo
As a retired Army Colonel and former military judge, I saw my share of “phony soldiers,” usually sitting across the bench from me at the defense table. I saw them for the pathetic wannabe heroes that they portrayed, but at least their day of judgment had come. Now, as I have grown older, I pity them more than despise them. That is until these fakes try to besmirch the valor and sacrifice of true soldiers; then all of the disgust that I had earlier felt comes rushing (no pun intended) back. Just as Dante had different levels of hell, there are different levels of disgust. Below the fakes are the America hating liberals and their organizations who try to disguise their loathing of the American soldier by fronting these frauds. And now, thanks to politicians like Udall, I have come to discover a lower level of disgust (didn’t think it possible).
BTW, this is my first posting. Thanks, Michelle, for opening up the registration to your legion of admiring fans.
I’m not surprised by this, Dems have no shame. Maybe they should mention Rush’s Adopt a Soldier program in this resolution?
All,

This didn’t just start, Imus fans got a heads up last April. There is a list of targets, and Media Matters stated so back in April…they have one scalp in their belt. They are counting coup!! This is one of the reasons, I want Imus back on the Air. There needs to be a backlash..it’s only our Freedoms they are trying to save us from.

All roads lead back to the Fairness Doctrine, and who would benefit from the Fairness Doctrine? Not Americans that is for sure. I would like to know how, when it has already been found to be Unconstitutional, that it could be brought back? What part of not legal do some of the Democrats not understand?

Liberals hate America PERIOD. They can hide behind whatever they want, but they hate America and Americans. If we were overrun with flesh eating zombies like in Day of the Dead, they would have friends on the left.
Yes, unabashedly, I question their patriotism.
Rush has been a target many times before for things he never said or things that were taken out of context.
I told my conservative friends a year ago that if the Demoncrats take over Congress, they will go on a campaign of revenge against conservatives, doing anything they can to shut up talk radio and then from there, going after bloggers. It started in January with some lefty blogger trying to get Melanie Morgan and some other guy in San Francisco off the air based on edited tapes of their show. Then it was Don Imus. Last week it was Bill O’Reilly and now it’s Rush. Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity better be ready; they’re probably next.
This is consistent with the liberal decision-making flowchart:
Issue -> disagree -> get called out on it -> raise level of voice -> new media persists -> begin name-calling -> new media persists -> begin counter smear campaign in name of “fairness” or “freedom.”
Who in their right mind could argue with “freedom?”
Case in point: Bush’s veto of the SCHIP and Pelosi accusing the president of making the children “suffer.” You wouldn’t want children to suffer, would you? So how can you let the right continue to smear our troops and their sacrifice?
(Turn your head, here comes the Betray Us ad and the NYT discount)
Old Tanker - I believe there is a bridge burning point of no return where one turns on his country and thus undoes any good that person may have done. Benedict Arnold was one of Washington’s best generals and I’m sure Timothy McVeigh was a good soldier.
I sent this email to Representative Udall via his form, calling myself Jessie Macbeth:
See the contact information I’ve entered above? It’s fake. A lie. It’s phony information.
Jessie Macbeth is a phony soldier. He lied. He was found out. He eventually admitted he lied. So why perpetuate the lie by “condemning the attack by broadcaster Rush Limbaugh” via a resolution? Have you listened to the audio in context? Do you know anything about Jessie Macbeth?
The Democrats never cease to amaze. Read Kos or HuffPo (in small doses, lest they cause gastric distress) and you’ll find much that Udall & Co. would want to suppress if these sites didn’t walk the Party Line.
Treason in the pursuit of the Hillary Reign is no vice; free, rational dissent is no virtue.
BTW — I just got in on the open reg. To quote Mark Levin: thank me very much.
Welcome aboard, Charlie and thank you for your time in serving our country.
Priceless. Rush just apologized to the troops ON BEHALF OF John Kerry, Media Matters, and John Murtha, since he says they will never hear an apology from them. The MSM will go ape over that one.
Somebody needs to design some trophy’s or certificates to present to the conservative pundits each time they get singled by Media Matters or named Worst Person of the … by Uberdunce and other such nonsense. I would think being cited in an actual congressional resolution would be the highest award.
Maybe develop a points system like NASCAR has.
I mean come on let’s have some fun with this while pointing out the absolute absurdity of this stuff.
BTW Vote against all incumbents in 2008, regardless of party. We need people who can address the issues and problems of the 21st century in Washington, not those stuck in the 60’s time warp.
This is the most childish, silly and ridiculous Congress I have ever experienced( and I’ve been around a while). Can Congress be sued for defamation?
I do not think our First Amendment Right, can be nullified, just because a talk radio host, does not agree with commie/puke,al-Qeada loving democRATs.
Lefteous indignation, indeed. I just got off the phone with Rep. Udall’s office and told his office fellow that if Rep. Udall is so bloody concerned about the Armed Forces’ integrity being besmirched, perhaps he should bring a proposal to intensify the punishment for ‘phony soldiers’.
I also find in unspeakably humorous that ABC used the same word, ‘phony’, to describe these wannabes on their broadcast 2 days before Mr. Limbaugh referred to phony soldiers. I anticipate some certain House members with egg on their faces, if/when this atrocity ever gets a vote.
P.S. Thanks, Michelle, for opening up the registration!
Forgot this in my earlier post—it does show how much they are afraid of him. In a way it’s a round about compliment.
But the Lefties over at Kos and HuffPo that are saying that they don’t support the troops because the mission is so evil…that the Dems are cool with.
And…They are comfortable with a guy complicit in the killing of U.S. troops (AmJay) comming and saying his peace on our soil because it’s important to hear all sides, but Rush they have a problem with.
And…From Lenin on down, Lefties will always stifle free speech.
*If the actual results of their failed policies are reported people may begin to understand the difference between “what seems to be the right thing to do” and what actually is the right thing to do.
*They are awash in contradicions “support the troops but not the war” etc… and can’t stand to have those pointed out.
*They see their opposition not as “mistaken” but as evil, uneducated, greedy and just plain mean. They are so zelously convinced that their own motives are pure and that they are fighting on the side of “good” then anything that they do (even if it goes against their own basic principles) is, by extension, also good. It’s kind of like the Spanish Inquisition (bet you weren’t expecting that).
Purple, one of my husband’s former CO’s was McVeigh’s Company Commander during Desert Storm. He said that when he saw him on tv after being arrested, that you could have knocked him over with a feather. He said that he was an outstanding Soldier but that his actions afterwords did not. It’s the same thing with Murtha, every Marine I know says that he is a “former Marine” and one of them said that he was at the Capitol Concert on Memorial Day weekend and when Murtha stood up beaming from ear to ear when the Marine Corps Hymm was played. Luckily he said his wife held on to him with a death grip and he didn’t do what he wanted to do.
I spent the morning on the horn with my representatives in Congress from the Commonwealth of VA and called Udall’s office (everyone must be, it took 3 hours to get something other than a busy signal in DC), as well as the usual suspects of Reid, Schummer, Clinton and Byah (sp?) of IN. I got basically a okay, will tell the person you called. But that’s okay, at least I called.
Thank you Charlie for a difficult job and welcome to one of the best boards.
This is pathetic — Rush was quite clear in what he said; how can you have a resolution when it’s so obvious that this is a smear?
How low can these Dems go?
Yes, I’m still waiting for his full military record.
Welcome newbies, Michelle must have been sick of seeing some of our names over and over…
Glib, wasn’t that back when Al Gore was behind a mule on his father’s Tennessee farm? Too busy plowing to invent the ‘net. Oh wait, he lived in a posh hotel just outside DC while going to a super exclusive private school…
And back in the 70’s it was Global Cooling that science foresaw…
After living and breathing the web for so long I’m still surprised such blatant smears catch fire. We have to keep telling the truth so this lie doesn’t get set in stone.
Oh, and I should say, thanks Michelle for opening registration!
Now if only hotair would open theirs
First entry. Thanks, Michelle for your past work. I worried about you in Iraq and am glad you returned unharmed. Looking forward to joining this fray.
The only surprising and possibly interesting thing here is that democrat pols are taking a page from the GOP’s playbook of passing corny symbolic “we’re more patriotic than thou” legislation. Any sensible voter should be tired that pols on both sides waste taxpayer’s time with such stupid gestures.
A hearty welcome to all the newly registered commenters … you are joining a great group with a lot of open discussion ahead of you … enjoy
I guess I’m showing my age but I’ve been listening to him long enough recognize this as simply Rush’s normal schtick. I also happen to hold the title of soldier in very high regard, a title not just anyone deserves. However unpopular the opinion may be I actually do think certain actions (like those being described) may tend to make one less deserving of such a title. /shrug
4 types of soldiers:
1) a true soldier, a volunteer to defend this nation.
2) a true but angry soldier, one who honestly signed up to defend this nation but became turned bad.
3) a person who ‘volunteered’ under false pretenses - (Scott Beauchamp)
4) the Frauds - Jessie MacBeth et al.
3 & 4 should be put in prison.
I gave a shout out to my Rep. Congressman Lee Terry.
The libnuts are going to eventually run out of rope and patience from the few sane ones who are left in the dem party. After the smear campaign against O’Reilly Juan Williams has got to now realize his party has been taken over by the whack jobs.
It’s time to call Udalls office and play with his staff
Rush is calling out Reid on air.
I wonder if Reid will have the balls to appear on the Show? Reid is a spineless weasel.
I try to keep up with these things, but it still amazes me that the same people that cry about “their freedoms being infinged upon” are always the same ones wanting to take others freedoms away.
BTW, thank you for opening the registration up again, Michelle. I missed it the last time and was sad for days.
Rush has just called upon the “hack-politicians” (like senator Reid) to tell him to his face what was or wasn’t done on his program. “Have you no shame…?”
I have a feeling that hack-politician Reid is not going to take him up on this challenge. Really, it’s pathetic to listen to these mindless partisan socialists attack a mere radio talk show host in order to cover their own anti-American asses.
What’s worse is that they’re doing it with a story that’s obviously been fabricated. Just wondering if there’ll be any republicans who’ll put Reid and his ilk in their lowly (rightful) place.
I called Udall’s office to voice my concern over the proposed resolution. The staff weenie says his boss listened to the full audio of the Rush broadcast and concluded Rush was referring to all soldiers. The funny thing is the staff weenie admitted Rush was talking about the phoney Jesse MacBeth.
I wanted to reach thru the phone and wring the little punks neck…I’ll just have download and print udall’s mug for target practice to vent off my anger instead.
buckshot …
Reid, Pelosi, and all the rest of the DemoCraps are always going to be too busy with their friends at MoveOn, KOS, HuffPo, and Code Pinko to spend any meaningful time with El Rushbo … Heaven forbid that might mean having to face up to all of his BS positions …
by “HIS BS positions” I was referring to reid … not Rush … DUH!
Now that Reid has condemned Rush for squelching the free speech rights of military personnel, will he now encourage the uniformed folks to speak out, despite the tradition of a soldier staying silent on political matters?
Has he now unilaterally removed the shroud from these folks? I’d LOVE for the troops to give the defeatocrats a few pieces of their minds.
How ’bout it, Reid? Or is it the case that as Rush said, you are always careful to take on folks who can’t fight back?
I got your point DesertLover
What ticks me off is they spout lies and to a certain segment of American Society they become the gospel truth to be further disseminated among the leftard population at large.
BTW, Thanks Michelle for opening registration. I have been trying to get in for months!
I wholeheartily admire your determination to set things straight. We need more empowerment in this world, and it starts with just one person willing to raise their voice!
Senator Reid has called for Republicans in signing a letter to the EIB Network demanding Rush apologize.
http://conservativebelle.blogspot.com/2007/10/rush-limbaugh-apologizes.html
Michelle, Thank you so much for opening up the registration! Now I will get to enjoy interacting as well as reading.
Now on with the topic.
Ironic how the “phonies” want to speak with the same moral authority about the war as those service men and women who have really paid the price, yet must lie to get an audience. They are totally blind to the contradiction and the dichotomy between their thoughts and actions. I think there is a psychiatric diagnosis for that.
Hat Tip to Uncle Ralph on #22.
Great Read.
Does anyone have an update on how our brave Republican senators are reacting to this? So far I haven’t heard a word from any of them.
In a parallel universe, this sort of thing would totally backfire on the Dems, because the Republicans would condemn Harry Reid so loudly that the truth about Macbeth et al would become widely known. Even people who don’t follow politics would be outraged over the Democrats and their front groups having such total contempt for the military as to push these liars on the rest of us.
I say let them bring the bill. You know…give an idiot enough rope
Yes, yes it is. Seriously, in the rarefied air of the ivory towers where they got their leftist indoctrination, logical consistency was simply never a requirement.
You’d be surprised (unless you are familiar with how they’ve run the college campuses where they rule supreme crushing all dissent, then nothing would surprise you).
Woo hoo! First post! Thanks, Michelle.
I read that the House GOP has drawn up something commending Rush and his continuous support of the troops.
It just boggles the mind how these Dems can continue to operate like this, and the GOP, for the most part, has let them get away with it. GROW A PAIR AND FIGHT BACK.
