Fairness Doctrine Watch: The Crush Rush Democrats’ agenda; Wesley Clark crusades to kick Rush off of Armed Forces Radio; Update: Daily Kos wants in on the action!
Update Midnight: Poor Daily Kos is feeling left out of the Rush-bashing action. Kos promotes VoteVets.org diatribe to the front page.
Lonewacko has advice on how to fight back.
Another target.
Update 8:35pm Eastern. Backdoor restoration of the Fairness Doctrine, take two: Wesley Clark ramps up the nutroots’ campaign to kick Rush Limbaugh off of Armed Forces Radio:
It’s time to put real pressure on Rush Limbaugh. His show is broadcast on Armed Forces Radio, and this time we are going to go straight to the lifeblood of Rush’s show — Congress. Congress has the power to remove Rush Limbaugh from Armed Forces Radio, and it won’t be as easy for elected officials to ignore our call.
Clark’s PAC is leading the organizing campaign:
Today, I am asking you to join 13,793 other Americans and email Congress urging them to take Rush Limbaugh off Armed Forces Radio.
Last week, Rush Limbaugh labeled American servicemembers who support an end to the war in Iraq “phony soldiers.”
We’re going directly to Congress to take him off the Armed Forces Radio airwaves. Elected officials in Congress have the power to prevent Limbaugh from using taxpayers’ money to disrespect and censure the voices of our soldiers.
Join us and hold Rush Limbaugh accountable for his offensive and outrageous comments — tell your member of Congress to Dump Rush From Armed Forces Radio today!
These people are fighting dirty. They are focused. They are unhinged.
Watch from the sidelines or get your head in the game.

Backdoor restoration of the Fairness Doctrine. That’s what I said the anti-Rush campaign is really about. The Hill underscores the point in a piece filed tonight:
House Republicans are threatening to launch a discharge petition on legislation that would ensure the future prosperity of conservative radio talk-show hosts but is expected to face opposition from Democratic leaders. On Monday evening, Republicans filed a rule with the House Rules Committee laying the groundwork for a petition that would force action on protecting radio from government regulation later this fall.
The move comes at a time when Democrats have launched a coordinated attack on conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, accusing him of disparaging American troops critical of the Iraq war as “phony soldiers.”
Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) has said broadcasters should be required to give listeners both sides of political issues so voters can make informed decisions.
Conservatives fear that forcing stations to make equal time for liberal talk radio would cut into profits so severely that radio executives would choose to scale back on conservative programming to avoid rising costs and interference from the government.
Republicans’ concern has grown as Democrats have waged a battle against Limbaugh in recent days. On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) sent a letter to the chief executive of Clear Channel Communications, Mark Mays, calling on him to denounce Limbaugh’s remarks.
The Baltimore Sun’s Swamp blog has the list of the 41 Crush Rush Democrats (also posted over at Dingy Harry’s website):

Allahpundit salutes the 10 Dems who refused to put their names on the letter.
The Swamp also has a copy of Clear Channel’s reply. A snippet:
I’ll believe Harry Reid cares about the First Amendment when he condemns MoveOn.org for stomping on the free speech rights of the CafePress shop owners who stood up for Gen. Petraeus and satirized the MoveOn goons.
Waiting…

Next on the counter-offensive to-do list:
“If anyone ever doubted that there is enmity between Democrats and American talk radio, they need look no further than the personal attacks leveled on Rush Limbaugh on the floor of the Senate,” said Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), the sponsor of legislation shielding broadcasters from government interference. “I thought it astonishing that members of the U.S. Senate would engage in repeated and distorted personal attacks on a private citizen. It gives evidence of a level of frustration with conservative talk radio that is very troubling to anyone who cherishes the medium.”
Pence, a former professional talk radio host, and Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.), a radio station owner, on Monday sent letters to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman John Dingell (D-Mich.) demanding a vote on the Broadcaster Freedom Act.

Dan Riehl dares Harry Reid to ask the troops who they’d rather listen to:
Let them vote – a show by you, or Limbaugh’s program. It won’t be the first time you were humiliated when people had a say in the matter.

grrrrrrr, What a digusting, transparent piece of garbage Reid is.
Looks like a who’s who list of sellouts for the United States of America. A lot of names on that list look familiar as they are always for more gun control on law abiding gun owners, less immigration reform so that we can pay taxes to subsidize non-citizens for the great cause of mankind in a utopian dream world, and consistently undermining the troops at any cost.
It’s a shame that these twits even get into politics and are running our country. God help us all from them.
In PROTEST to the FERRY BOAT PILOT – we should send Sen. Harkin a roll of LIFESAVERS & flood his office. Harkin calling into question Rush’s love of the soldiers….what next.
Washington, D.C. Address
731 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510-1502
It is akin to the heads of lettuce to Chertoff….
Again, the two headed monster Boxer/Feinstein makes the list.
What a Shocker!
This has got my blood boiling. Where are the Republican candidates for President? What about Newt? I want to hear uproar over this from elected representatives.
They won’t vote to condemn the smear against General Petraeus, but they’ll for the smear against Rush.
Truly pathetic.
This is unbelievable — the man didn’t say what they claim he did; the darn transcript is available.
What in the world is wrong with these people? America, awake? Hello? How did we vote such nitwits into power?
We can only hope Harry’s ridiculous antics have given him enough exposure that the people of Nevada will do to him what the people of South Dakota were smart enough to do to Tom Daschle.
Ditto that. The disgusting 41, I vote They be removed.
Hey Senators! America is keeping track of you losers! wake up!
I sense a tidal wave of angry, fed-up e-mails, faxes and phone calls coming to the halls of Congress and it’s coming soon – like starting – NOW….
I will be doing my part – as well as contacting my 2 Democrat Senators who did NOT attach their names to this list and thank them for not doing so.
Crush Rush? I think not.
How about we ‘Bury Harry’ with a flood of support for the Maha-Rushie!
I have never felt comfortable with Mr. (Gen) Clark. He appeared to be an egocentric as* and thank God he wasn’t given more responsibility within the Armed Forces. That he would attempt to have Mr Limbaugh thrown off AFR is a signal event which justifies those of us with a “Low Places” view of his character.
So, let’s say that the Dems manage to get Rush off the air. They can congratulate themselves, “one conservative down.” How many more conservatives must they off before they have an equal amount of conservatives and liberals on the air to complete their diabolical fairness doctrine plans?
…
Ya, that’s what I thought. Perhaps, Harry Reid should re-think this one. At that pace it’ll be a very long time before he can take over the world. By the way, if Reid is the Brain, would Harkin be Pinky?
If the Dems want us to truly believe they have the soldiers interest above all else then they should go to them (the soldiers) and ask whether to keep Rush on the Armed Forces Network. They won’t do that because they’d lose again all around. I bet 90% of the men and women we have serving us greatly appreciate Rush to a very great extent. This is what the Dems fear. They are a minority, they know it, and they are showing it by their childess behavior. Soon they shall go away…..
Has anybody asked the military?? Rush is a favorite of the troops!!! This will back fire on the DEMs.
LOL the democrats stuck their foot in it and now they are up to their necks and can’t get out of it.
The are all captains on a sinking ship.
I really gotta remind myself – God’s in charge.
Can these people read? Or listen?
The old saying “none are so blind as those who will not see” is apt here.
A new term for intentionally misreading someone’s comment – “Reiding”
Is there any way where we can quickly set up a vote for troops around the world to choose on which radio stations they’d like to keep (and remove) just to show them snotty , defeatist Senators how wrong they are.
Blackfive? etc..
How?
I went to the WesPAC web site and “signed” the petition. I edited out the message they wanted me to sign and wrote:
Keep Rush Limbaugh on Armed Forces Radio!!
Then I hit the “send” button. Try it! See what happens. It would be funny if we all changed the message to support Rush on the WesPAC site.
Anyways, Rush’s show today was great. He did a great job defending himself.
This is not my daddy’s Democratic party. I wonder how Clark can climb out of this hole if he become a vice-presidential candidate. I hate to be a parrot, but this trully is pathetic.
Also, see Radio Angels.
http://soldiersangels.org/index.php?page=radio-angels
Back in the early 90’s I was stationed in Korea and the big controversy for Armed Forces Radio was that all three hours of Rush were not carried.
No, I don’t think that’s valid, they may just change the message back and use your name.
We’ve got the list with their names. We go to their web pages and melt them down
I’m rather unimpressed with the dimminicrats faux outrage. Pot. Kettle. Give ‘em heck, Rush!
LOL! it’s kind of funny, I got to http://reid.senate.gov/email_form.cfm and it says HTTP 404 not found. I guess the demoncraps had it shut down so we wouldn’t melt their system.
You can always send a fax… Even if they run out of paper, they should print when the paper is reloaded, right?
The idiot dems are losing their minds. They are like children throwing a hissy fit when they don’t get their way. What they want is failure in Iraq and if things improve much more their heads are going to explode.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, I give you for your partisan enjoyment, that most subversive of items…
THE FIRST AMENDMENT.
CONGRESS shall make no law… abridiging the freedom of speech…
Consider, CONGRESS… CONGRESS shall make no law….
And what is happening now…. CONGRESS is trying to abridge the freedom of speech of a private citizen.
Who are the fascists now, Kos????????

Change the heading to “Keep Rush Limbaugh on Armed Forces Radio!!” and click on the link above to send your feelings to
And here’s my main body that I included if you wish to cut and paste.
–cut and paste—cut and paste—-
Rush Limbaugh has been an indispensable and supremely patriotic supporter of our American troops through his 19 years on his radio show. It was the troops who written to the Armed Forces Radio asking to include Rush Limbaugh into their radio program. Imagine that!
It’s a fact.
The “phony soldier” was in reference to Jessie MacBeth pretending to be a war hero (a la Harkin’s) and hence deserved the title “phony soldier,” noting the fact that he only lasted 40 days in boot camp before getting kicked out.
The “phony soldiers” bit are all about these people who, as lying soldiers, will lie about themselves as a soldier by exaggerating their ranks, lie about the atrocities committed, or lie about being in a country never having visited before.
Keep Rush Limbaugh on Armed Forces Radio!!
Thank you for your consideration and patriotism.
This is not governing; this is controlling. It is also about manipulating the outcome. People like Reid are scary because they are in positions of power (and control), and will stop at nothing to achieve the outcome they desire. Those without decency and integrity are in charge. No wonder they have to bribe their constituents to vote for them; they are unable to offer anything else, such as character, decency, and integrity.
Harry, Tom and the rest of the 39 stooges who signed this stupid letter,
Do you not realize that Rush’s comments were on the RADIO and that today those comments can be found on his WEBSITE which is on the INTERNET. You can read the transcripts or for those of you who wrestle with reading, you can listen to them. It’s very clear that Rush is talking about Jessie MacBeth and those like him. Give a listen. Do you think that the American public is so stupid that they wont check it out themselves and see that you’ve made the whole thing up? Despite the Main Street Media’s support of this lie and their pushing of it as truth we all have ears, most of us can read and thus we see clearly what a load it all is. Of all the things to go after Rush on being anti-military is absolutely the dumbest.
Fairness doctrine, my behind. You folks are either stupid, crazy, or both.
Best wishes from someone not represented by any of you, fortunately.
cnsrvativ1st
Understand, the lefts propaganda machine cannot work when other people attempt to tellus the truth. With out propagand the socialists cannot win! The sources of truth MUST be stopped! MUST BE STOPPED! Watch and be ready the real ‘freedom of speech’ war has not yet begun. Our lefties are on the move, private slogan: “socialism now”. The time is here folks, remember this post and call me a fool in 2011 if I am not PROVEN correct.
Propaganda cannot stand up to truth. allrsn 10-2-07
I hope that sruck a bone, I hope you thought of our children! Please pay very close attention to what is going on; think back, remember the last 15 years or so. Think of the current events, and apply to the future. The time for socialists IS NOW.
What do you do? You’re a Democrat, you already own the media as far as TV goes but you can’t seem to grab hold of talk radio. Do you take a hint and realize you can’t own everything? Nope, you attack and attack again until no one can hear a word except your own. The left can’t handle Rush, Rush speaks truth and reveals the lefts’ lunacy. This is just sad proof that they are desperate for total control, otherwise, how can they spread their propaganda?
shimauma2
If you use the following address you will get Reid’s e-mail form.
http://reid.senate.gov/contact/email_form.cfm
Easy Solution………
To all troops out there —- if the Congress succeeds in pulling Rush Limbaugh off of AFRS, boycott each and every sponsor that buys time on AFRS.
They are not as stupid as they appear. They do not care that their accusations are false (they know they are), they are simply trying to muzzle a conservative. The means matter not to them, it’s the ends that matter. They know many Americans only hear the soundbites, and hope they will vote based on that.
The MSM will not explain Rush’s comments in context because they are complicit. Have any played them on air? Printed transcripts? No, the crowd that cheered at the Seattle paper, and their comrades will do nothing that might interfere with the left’s attempts to censor the right.
If the socialists succeeds in killing freedom of speech, we are history, FREEDOM is dead. WE CANNOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN!!!!!!!
The CEO of Clear Channel responds Reid. Kudos Mr. Mays! Kudos!!
Mark Mays, CEO Clear Channel
His letter is linked to the above link.
atually one did, name starts with a s, I think on msnbc, scarboro yes scarboro playd it correct
They actually air real commercials on AFN/AFRS? All we got when my dad was stationed overseas were the “PSAs” about operational security and not leaving tools on the flight line and such… It was a HUGE deal when a “real” commercial accidently got left in the broadcast…
PS – Carole, just FYI, Harkin ferried planes, not boats. But not in combat. Not that the truth matters to him.
Though maybe he flew air cover for John Kerry when Nixon sent them on a secret mission to Cambodia in 1968 – before Nixon was President. Yeah, that’s it!
The thing many of you seem to have missed here is that the caller that Rush was talking to was commenting on a story by Brian Ross and Charlie Gibson that aired on ABC almost 2 full days before the call to Rush … ABC News used the phrase “phony soldiers” in their story and not a word was said … only when Rush repeated the phrase did it become an issue .. and what else do you call someone that washed out of Boot Camp and then tried to make himself out to be a military hero to make money off his tales … “phony” is a lot nicer than many other terms I would apply to those individuals …
Note to Wesley Clark – please look up “irrelevant” in the dictionary.
That is true, I heard it live.
This is what I changed the msg to on the ga4.org:
Last week, Rush Limbaugh called Americans who were never servicemembers and who make false claims “phony soldiers.”
Rush Limbaugh’s show is aired on Armed Forces Radio, which is funded by taxpayers’ dollars. I remember in my time overseas, his show was very popular, if not the most popular.
Individuals like Wesley Clark are falsifying accounts, or at best are negligent of the facts.
As a member of Congress, you can prevent lying politicians from further disrespecting and censoring the voices of anyone on the military airwaves.
Please Dump liars From Congress – to clean up that warren of political wind testing worms and dishonest pundits is something that will be done if you do not police yourselves. There was little outcry about the Petraeus ad, and then there is a manufactured tempest about a ‘taken out of context’ comment. Have you noticed that Congress has lower ratings than Bush? The assumption that Americans are stupid and do not notice is disgraceful and must end.
Thank you for your consideration.
Clark must be trying to get back into the Presidential race – maybe as a VP candidate. He should run with Edwards. They could comb each others hair…
I have no clue what you mean by that, but the rest of your post is right on. (0pps I did not me that to sound like move on, i swear I did not!)
I think the world must be coming to an end. Neither of my Senators – Feingold and Kohl – signed the letter.
I. Cannot. Believe. It.
The WesPac site, with their canned msg asking Congress to can Rush.
Yep it worked! Rocking. Thanks Much Right On!
Frankj/FredT 2008
I’ve thought for a long time W.Clark was taking marching orders from the far left, Soros et.al. but,he does have to be so obvious? Whenever I see Clark on TV he reminds me of a deer in the headlights.
wanna lose you freedom of speech? wanna live by only propaganda? wanna be a socialist? lay down and sleep!
If not, stand up and be heard!!! NOW
Just about now would be a great time for Rupert Murdock to purchase NBC.
Why am I not surprised that my senators, Mikulski and Cardin, support this partisan attack on Rush?
IIRC it was the troops who asked to hear Rush on Armed Forces Radio. Now these traitors want to support the troops by taking something they asked for away from them?
It’s Just Pathetic.
What I want to know is where are all the self righteous little constitutionalists out there who ordinarily troop around the web screaming about all the rights they’ve lost in this country?
This isn’t George W. Bush or his administration bringing the weight of government intimidation against a private individual, it’s the democratic majority of the congress.
So…Hillary would not sign on to speak out against the anti-American, seditious group that tells her what to do yet she will sign on for the lie spread against Rush?
Yeah…she is JUST the person I want as Commander in Chief while fighting against the “Religion of Peace”
Wow…13,700 Americans…out of 300,000,000. Yeah, they really have that “majority” thing working for them. however could Congress ignore such a tidal wave of upset Americans.
Well, since those 13,000+ people are NOT the ones to listen to AFR, why doesn’t all these oh-so-concerned Liberals and Democrats actually go to the people who do? Why are they so afraid to ask the men and women in the Armed Forces if they want Rush to be pulled off the airwaves? In fact, why don’t they ask them their opinion of Rush, what he said and how he thinks about them and treats them?
Oh yeah…because they would have to admit how very, very wrong they are and that the Military loves Rush and does not want him removed. After all, they are the ones that got him placed there anyway.
What business is it of any of these civilians as to what and who is on the AFR? None, that’s what. Nothing like people not invilved telling people who are what they can and can’t listen to or do. Then again, if they didn’t, there would be no Democrat party.
BTW, Macsmind points out that Congress doesn’t actually have the power to strip Rush from Armed Forces radio. It’s not in their charter.
All these principled demicritters signing on to condemn the little Mr. Limbaugh, hypocrites each and every one. They sat mute when Reid, Pelosi, Kennedy, Murtha and scores of other reprobates disparaged and demoralized our troops declaring the war lost. It sickens me to see these clowns parading themselves before the cameras, like horses trotting in all their finery, but in reality they are the fetid, stinking piles of excrement left behind by said horses. These headless horsemen of no virtue, they make me sick.
What I really love, is how the Left has consistently claimed that Rush is “irrelavant” and a nobody. However, for the little nobody they claim he is, they sure spend a great deal of time, words, effort and money to repeatedly try to bring him down, disparrage him, refute him, and get him removed from the airwaves.
This has been going on for almost 20 years. Do they really, honestly believe that after all this time, anyone will honestly believe what they say now, let alone have him removed from the airwaves? Did they honestly think that Clear Channel was going to do ANYTHING to Rush…their biggest money maker just because they said so and without any proof of their claims? Is this not further proof of their megolomania and paranoia all rolled into one?
United Socialist State of America
…………Washington…………
……….press release………..
……….Dec. 7, 2019…………
The Glorious People’s Revolutionary Congress has finally rid our worker’s minds of the detestable capitalist running dog, Rush Limbaugh, enemy of the people.
All radio devices will be jammed from 12-3pm est, by emergency decree from Her Excellency, Mother-in-Chief Clinton.
As we all know, the people’s enemy Limbaugh ordered his deranged capitalist extremist followers to assassinate our Dear Leader, beloved by all who work for a better village.
For the sake of our Union, and the children, Her Excellency has personally issued a warrant for the arrest of the people’s greatest enemy, on charges of un-socialist patriotism, promoting capitalist greed, and speaking when not spoken to by Her Excellency. All crimes under the Mother-in-Chief Act of 2016, punishable by imprisonment without trial, and immersion in the defining national song of our Socialist Paradise, “I am Woman”.
If any of our beloved Federal Internal Security Department personnel should see Mr. Limbaugh as he runs like a dog from the people’s justice, shoot to kill. This is the most dangerous man left in our Worker’s Paradise, and he must be liquidated, for the children.
Given all the success the last few years of Her Excellency’s Capitalist Eradication Program, arresting for the people such nefarious charcters as Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Newt Gingrich, and Niel Cavuto, we cannot risk an incomplete purge.
Rumors persist that Michelle Malkin and the mysterious figure known only as MKH have escaped our dragnet and have linked up with the wanted felon Mark Levin, possibly to assist the people’s enemy Limbaugh in his flight from the Mother’s justice. They are believed to be hiding from social justice in the ungoverned border region of New Hampshire.
We are currently searching the forests for the illegal immigrant Mark Steyn for interrogation. We believe he has informations we need to locate all of these enemies of Socialist Progress, so they may face the justice of the children, by the Mother.
Her Excellency Commands the Revolution for the Children
It worked!!
I went to WesPAC web site, filled out the e-mail form with “Keep Rush on Armed Forces Radio!” then sent it off…and it worked!
I got an e-mail acknowledgement from John Shadegg’s office (Arizona Congressman where I live) and in the subject line it said, “Keep Rush on Armed Forces Radio!” Cool!!
I bet Shaddegg was shocked to see the subject line on that e-mail from WesPAC.
Try it and see what happens…..
I also received a “thank you” e-mail from Wesley Clark, but I replied that we should keep Rush on Armed Forces Radio!!
Gentlefolk,
Armed Forces radio carries no commercial broadcasting, no hope there.
Mr Mays of Clear Channel did respond, but I personally found it a bit milquetoast. There are grounds to condemn the Senate, but his letter was as flowery and sweet as they come.
Yesterday one of our number commented that these people can be shamed. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be entirely the case.
Face it people: we’ve been whining about Socialists but these people are Marxists going on Stalinists. We are facing a crisis folks.
Harkin is a phony military hero.
Republicans take on Islamic terrorists, Democrats take on conservative talk radio hosts. Someone has their priorities askew.
clark will join media matters &move on real soon.very funny brian 72
Rush may be pulling off what may come to be known as the biggest political rope-a-dope in the history of mass media…the Dems are just punking themselves for all to see
Mrs. Malkin and Mr. Moran: Thanks for the privilege of commenting on one of America’s premiere political blogs. BB is right on the money. The Soros crew smells metaphorical blood. This will only get worse folks. Much, much worse.
Well if the looney bin libs can’t win fairly, then they have to shut up the competition.
Those that want to shut up the conservative media, good luck.
Their tender baby bottom egos need a good stroking.
I guess that exempts KOS huh?
What narcissist brats – so transparent it’s laughable.
Rush will go away when he’s good and ready. Just sit back and enjoy your cigar, Rush!
He’s a force to be reckoned with, so bring it on Reidy.
Rush was very positive about this latest conflict on his show yesterday and welcomes the battle saying to the effect that support of the troops is his face card with a 20 year plus well documented record.
Personally, I think the Democommies have opened a can of worms on this deal and they will be forced in the end to eat every last worm in the can by the RW Blogsohere, AM Talk Radio and public opinion
Here is what I sent to Reid on his website:
Are you out of your mind? I’m a 19 year Air Force veteran and Rush has NEVER given my (sic) any reason to think he was anti-military. I’ve seen the transcript and still believe that. You need to either a) throw the crack pipe away or b) read the transcript.
I shudder when I think of the likes of you in control of the Congress… much less the Presidency.
end quote.
Kevlaur
GOD BLESS SENATOR JON KYL, the first GOP lawmaker to show some freakin’ GUTS:
Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl responded to the charge, becoming the first Republican lawmaker to support the radio host publicly.
“It’s troubling that some Democrats have taken a comment by Rush Limbaugh about “phony soldiers” totally out of context in order to find some moral equivalence to get them off the hook for refusing to condemn the MoveOn.org ‘Petraeus’ ad,” he said. “The only thing phony about this is the contrived controversy.”
heres the link: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,298999,00.html
General Clark, that oh so brave General. Free speech forget about it. The truth, forget about it. Be afraid of the Left.
I hope our greedy, free spending non-conservative Republican representatives are proud of themselves for getting voted out of the majority and putting us all in this predicament. I lay the blame entirely at their feet. The future doesn’t look bright.
I’ve been thinking about this entire fiasco: the attempt to hush Rush. The old fairness doctrine was applied to the broadcast spectrum and nowhwere else. The justification (and the only way it could possibly pass consititutional muster) was because the PUBLIC owned the radio frequencies, and that these frequencies were limited by both treaty and physics, that it would be good public policy to require radio and TV stations to provide equal time to opposing viewpoints, even though it actually resulted in station owners putting neither viewpoint over the air in most markets.
Today is much different. Internet radio and webcasts, satellite and cable, and optical fiber networks ARE BEYOND THE PERVIEW OF CONGRESS TO REGULATE.
Responding vigorously to this attack is the best thing that can be done. Fighting tooth and nail to prevent a new “Fairness Doctrine” is essential for liberty.
But even if they get past the House and Senate (where it can be filibustered), they have to have the President sign it or have a vetoproof majority — which they don’t and won’t ever have — to make it the law of the land.
I would recommend to Rush Limbaugh that he respond as appropriate to the current criticism, including the nonsense attempt to get him off of Armed Forces Radio (also beyond Congress’s ability to regulate) — he can defend himself ably — and consider a Plan B if, by some chance, they do enact the Fairness Doctrine,
Plan B could be to put it on Satellite radio and “screw you” to Congress. Or it could be internet webcast/broadcast directly from his home base. (I listen to him on occassion over WISN’s streaming audio, but this would not be available under the Fairness Doctrine).
Whatever Plan B turns out to be, his listners will follow him, this without a doubt.
And if necessary, he and one radio station owner COULD thumb their noses at the new “Fairness Doctrine” and invite a court challenge. I bet the courts would strike it down as unconstitutional, given today’s technology and many choices of communication.
In other words, this is just a skirmish in an important battle. It is a battle that we will eventually win. So, let’s expose this as the power-grab it is, but keep in mind that losing this skirmish, is NOT losing the war.
My 2 cents.
This is damage control, plain and simple.
The BetrayUs ad hurt the demoncrats, and they knew it. So how do they get the spotlight turned somewhere else?
Rush will do quite nicely. And the fact is, it has worked. Rush can’t sit idly by and be smeared, so he is up in arms. The MSM has all of the fodder they need to paint him – unjustly, but since when did that stop the MSM? – negatively.
Remember, Reid doesn’t have to win you over. You’re already far smarter than the imbeciles who actually support men like this. The terrifying thought is that he only has to win over a small percentage of people “on the fence.”
And, given the fact that he’s running the Senate, it’s clear that his lies are effective often enough to put him there.
I don’t fear scum – and I don’t use that word loosely – like Harry Reid. I fear the people who carelessly vote his party in.
We’ve got pleny of obliviots on both sides of the aisle, it’s true, but it’s certainly not a 50/50 split.
I’ve always had a pretty solid virtual-test for telling me whether a person is worth shaking hands with or not, and it is this: would I let this person babysit my 6 year old child? (when I had one, but the thought still counts).
Ted Kennedy, Bill and Hillary, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Feinstein, Kerry, Edwards…? No, I wouldn’t. And that’s not hyperbole. I literally wouldn’t leave these people alone with my children. And Harry Reid? I wouldn’t leave him alone in my dining room. He, Barney Frank, Weiner, Menendez, Corzine, and others of their ilk would steal the plates, even if they were paper.
These people are contemptible. The people who vote for them are fools (at best).
I wonder if Wes Clark is working at the Carter Center. His brain seems to work like Jimmy’s brain. Just think, this guy was in charge of our EU command.
There is nothing that Dingy Harry and his liberal Dems can do to Rush except drive more conservatives to listen to Rush. Have you ever seen Dingy smile or tell a joke? That guy is the slimiest, as is his whole family of lobbyist sons.
It just frustrates the heck out of me that Pres. Bush and the Republican party’s stupidity and incompetence on management of Iraq, spending, and immigration has given the dems such a big opening to win in ‘08 and force their socialist agenda on us.

Nice post and reminds me of George Orwell’s book 1984, the Youtube video that had comrade hillary speaking to the drones and a very athletically inclined young lady throwing a hammer against the “machine”.
The frightening thing is that I can see that happening and almost everyone of us on this blog (trolls excluded) would be rounded up and sent for “reeducation” training.
In the words of that great 1984 movie “Red Dawn”-Wooolllverrines!
gunslingerpartriot if she-who-must-not-be-named does win I have no doubt she has such a plan (to protect the children). I have a feeling I will be joining the 2nd American Revolutionary War with you. We have plenty of young people at my AFB that listen to talk radio especially Rush. Those of use in or that have been in the Military know there are many restrictions on our Constitutional freedoms because we are Government Property, but to pull Rush off the air at AFRTS would start an uprising that I doubt the chain of command could control. Most GIs do not trust the Democrats and have very little respect for the MSM because anything they say will be taken out of context much like this whole fake controversy. These 41 traitors have outed themselves on more than one occasion, when will the laws be enforce to prevent them from continuing to aid and comfort the enemies of America.
The hypocrisy is breathtaking. Sean Hannity showed a montage of clips from the Dem traitors last night. Kerry and Murtha calling our troops murderers, Reid saying the war is lost and Clinton bragging about her involvement in Media Matters…
The guy Rush was referring to, is a convicted “phoney soldier”. This is a non-story. Were it not for the astonishing stupidity of some Americans, all of the traitors in Congress would be thrown out of office.
This is going to backfire the same way the MoveOn ad did. This American is sick of the games they’re playing while the country is in desparate need of leadership. With their historic low approval rating, you would think that they would be trying to improve that rather than setting a new record.
It is also an insult to the troops. These Dems know that the military votes about 80% Republican and that the 20% or so who vote Democrat are mostly social conservatives.
To knock Rush off the Armed Forces Radio is to get rid of one of the few people in the media that the military has access to on TV or radio who actually supports their mission and values.
Democrats hate the military but can’t openly say it. This censoring of Rush is a reflection of it.
This is starting to get rediculous now. I guess those in Congress have no important legislation to work on now.
The offices of most Senators and Representatives have made it fairly simple to email them. Go to the site of the individual Congress Person and there should be an ‘email me’ link, there is on all 3 of mine. Fill out the form and send. A suggested email follows or you can write your own more personal version.
What do you know Barack Obama does have time to vote for something…
My senators are on the list, surprise, surprise. At least I’ll get a non-response response from Lautenberg. I haven’t heard back from Menendez on any topic.
Gabe- spot on.
