Crush Rush: Now they want to censure him?
Democrat Rep. Mark Udall is spearheading the resolution condemning Rush Limbaugh. It apparently has 19 co-sponsors now.
Meantime, Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar has started a censure bandwagon:
Sen. Ken Salazar dove further into the Rush Limbaugh brouhaha today, saying he’d support censuring the conservative radio talk-show host for his use of the words “phony soldiers.”
During a conference call with reporters, Salazar, a Colorado Democrat, said he’d support censure if a vote were taken. None is planned currently in the Senate.
“Rush Limbaugh owes an apology,” Salazar said. “He owes an apology to the men and women in uniform who are doing the duty that the commander in chief has asked them to do.”
Guess he’s trying to get back into the nutroots’ good graces after signing onto the resolution condemning MoveOn.
The Daily Sentinel also points out that Salazar’s brother is helping track phony soldiers.
Salazar last month denounced MoveOn.org for an advertisement it placed in The New York Times calling the American commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, “Betray-us.”
Ken Salazar voted for a resolution criticizing MoveOn.org for its ad, but other than his vote, Salazar “didn’t register much righteous indignation,” said Dick Wadhams, chairman of the Colorado Republican Party.
His brother, meantime, U.S. Rep. John Salazar, D-Colo., is working to establish a database of soldiers who have earned military honors so that people who falsely claim to hold medals can be prosecuted under the Stolen Valor Act, which John Salazar authored.
ABC News recently broadcast a report on phony soldiers, including MacBeth.
“Is Salazar going to vote to censure ABC News?” Wadhams said.

Ever wanted a small taste of what it must have felt like to live in the Soviet Union? Bon apetite comrades!
Shhhhh, Be vewy vewy qwiet…..
Let them have at it and I hope the Republicans put a rider on it condemning Murtha and Reid and Clark and Kerry and Rangel for their hateful rhetoric about the troops…..sit back relax and watch the parade….the donkeys are about to make asses of themselves….yet again.
I’m no constitutional scholar, but isn’t “censure” something these people do to their own, and not to private citizens?
I’m trying to think of any other instance in which either house of Congress censured a private citizen, and I’m coming up blank.
Why have the data base if there were not so many phony soldiers, the vast majority seem to be Dems. Another one found today. Rather sad case actually.

H.Res 706 2 OCT… what a waste of effort
http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c110:8:./temp/~c110Q6bB1u::
The other thought that comes to mind is that an arm of the government formally censuring a private citizen for exercising the right to free expression waltzes right up to the line of behavior that the First Amendment was spcecifically written for.
Buffoons.
Wow.
Say something they don’t like will get you censured. Who’s next? You, Michelle? Ann Coulter? Thomas Sowell? Phyllis Schlafly?
What conservative can they get next? Because clearly their agenda is to get back in the moonbat/nutroot graces by silencing every conservative they can.
This is nothing less than back-door introduction of the (Un)Fairness Doctrine.
Welcome to communism, everyone. All hail the Democratic party line or face the consequences.
They are aware that their censuring him will have absolutely zero effect on him, right?
I mean, they do know that…
Tell me they know that…
Also, the Senate can’t say anything about Murtha. They aren’t allowed to talk about a member of the other part of the legislative branch, if I recall correctly.
First paragraph of the Senate letter to Clear Channel:
Throw the bums out!!!
Buffoons works, but it isnt what I’m saying in my office outloud.
I recommend that the time spent on this Limbaugh censure measure be deducted from the paychecks of every congressperson viting “aye.”
I keep saying the left is more worried about O’Reilly, Limbaugh, etc than Bin Laden and Zawahiri. This is insane.
Our enemies plot to kill us, and liberal legislators worry about a fellow talking on the radio.
Respectfully,
eric

I suppose it would be of no surprise to anyone that I hate Rush and all he stands for.
But he has a right to talk. I know it’s public airwaves and everything…but this is crazy. Crazy! Congress should stay away from censuring people who are speaking freely, the way the First Amendment intended.
(Although, people over here didn’t seem to mind when Congress did something similar to the MoveOn “Betray-us” ad. Hopefully now people will see why I was so upset that Congress passed that bogus piece of junk.)
The Dems better hope they have enough Lifeboats.
If we have to explain this to you again Rusty, you’ll never understand…
Rusty:
Congress didn’t attempt to Censure MoveOn.org. They created a resolution of support for General Petraeus in response to MoveOn.org.
Here it is:
MoveOn.org is not named – not ‘defamed’ – not anything. Only the actions that they took are described.
Hardly the same or even close to singling out a solitary US Citizen for Congressional Censure for statements he NEVER MADE.
The LibDemocRats are all for diversity…in everything but thought and speech.
You guy’s, shhh, keep it down they might hear you.
So, Rusty – what would you call the people who lie about their service, have never served and pretend to, and then try to use those lies for political and monetary gain?
“Phony soldiers” works pretty well for me.
That you can’t tell the difference between smear attacks (read: MoveOn’s “Betray Us” ad and this censure of Limbaugh) and out-of-context grasping at straws is a very, very sad statement.
pubscout –
Liberals ARE for diversity.
You can be white and liberal
You can be black and liberal
You can be asian and liberal
You can be native american and liberal
You can be heterosexual and liberal
You can be gay and liberal
You can be young and liberal
You can be old and liberal
They accept the views of anyone ( who is liberal ), so don’t say they’re not open-minded and accepting of diversity!
Trying – to – turn – sarcasm – off
These people are breathtakingly stupid. They’re stuck in a hole and they continue to shovel out dirt. They have been playing Americans for stupid for so long, they no longer think that there’s a line they can’t cross. This attack on Rush is dumber than the MoveOn ad. They didn’t learn their lesson with that one so let’s hope that they’re stupid enough to keep this up on a regular basis.
The only thing that trumps their stupidity is their hypocrisy.
“Liberalism is a Mental Disorder”
Michael Savage
Michael Savage is going through a similar situation with the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, condemning comments he made in an attempt to get him off the air. Savage stated yesterday correctly that Media Matters are staging dry runs against Rush and himself…probing, seeing how far they can go in silencing conservative voices. They will then learn from their mistakes, modify, and try again and again.
Here is some juicy coverage of Michael Savage just telling it like it is from Media Matters themselves.
Queen:
When ABC News says it – it’s factual reporting.
When Rush says it – it’s a smear.
Liberal Studies 101, Room 147, see y’all there!
( Sorry, I’m a bit punchy today )
Congress has no teeth on this one. Their “censure” is a violation of the First Ammendment. Read it and weep Dhimmicarps.
Congress cannot “censure” a private citizen. Limbaugh can however sue private citizens who serve in elective office and misuse the powers of their office for political gain.
Limbaugh is free to say whatever falls within FCC guidelines on the public airwaves.
And the facts of his statements about “phony soldiers” do not fit the censure action.
It is going to fail anyway.
What is absolutely cool about all of this chicanery is 1) Hillary has been connected- in her own words- as a start-up sponsor of MoveOn and MediaMatters; 2) Murtha, Durbin, and others in Congress who have denigrated our troops are now going to be drug back through this muck and exposed for having said *verifiably* bad things about US troops; and, 3) the Left has been slapped upside the head with the opposite effects of their MoveOn.org ad because now the DhimmiCarps are going out of their way to support the troops (can’t get em out before 2013 and how about them troops, aint they spayshul?)
This has backfired on the Left. And it is only going to snowball to the point that Hillary’s blue dress gets caught in the downhill slide in all of this surrogate media machine mess, making her distance herself from the fringe even further than she wants to be.
Next, the fringe Left is going to get behind a fringe Candidate that will eat Hillary’s projected margin of victory in 08. They will stand on their “principles” and lose the White House they never had.
8 more years! 8 more years! 8 more years!
This gets better by the day.
Wow! Has Iraq just fallen out of the MSM these days!
For all of those Colorado Republicans who voted for Ken Salazar instead of Pete Coors, you get what you paid for. Moderate my a**.
Too bad his brother John isn’t the Senator instead. He’s a much more reasonable person and truly represents his district.
As for Mark Udall, he isn’t usually such a moonbat. I would think that he would have at least read the complete transcript. Maybe all of those Boulder moonbats are getting to him, or maybe he’s courting them for his upcoming Senate run. What a disappointment.
After some of the letters and emails I have sent to my Representative and Senators they might want to add me to the list.
You know you are over the target when the flak gets heavier.
Can elected officials be censored?
As my children and I observe yet another Demo-drama unfold (as Aaron Spelling is alive and well and channeling through some our illustrious elected officials) it saddens and yet comforts me that even my six and eight year old can discern that the liberals involved are “untrustworthy, liars, and really bad for this country.” We openly discuss the reality of politics- I must be diligent before my children are indoctrinated/brain-washed by our school system – compliments of Robert Byrd, teachers unions, and the good ole’ boy network WV Democrats. If they are so transparent to a six and eight year old, I can only hold out hope – for their sake and their future- that the majority of voters do as well. Be afraid, be very afraid…there are bogey-men (and woman) lurking in the U.S. Capitol boys and girls…
Hmmm….lower death counts…..surge working….
Just wait, bear… there’ll be a suicide bomb or roadside ied soon and the MSM will spend 3 days talking it up like it’s the ONLY thing that has been happening there.
Gayle: Yes.
Generally, Congressional censures are for their own members, Presidents or judges. Also some appointed government officials as well.
Reminds me of a sign on my wall: “Thought for the day: if stupidity were a life-threatening disease the only problem America would have would be where to put all the dead bodies.”
The vast majority of Americans will never hear the things you mention. What they will see this afternoon on their tv’s instead is Bush Vetoes bill for Health care for Children
Brittany joy riding in Malibu
Mudslide in CA
Questions remain about Blackwater.
There just isn’t room in the nightly newscast for you know news. I am glad my cable company carries BBC America, if it wasn’t for them I would never hear about the slaughter in Burma, the murders in Thailand of Buddhists by the Muslims, the latest Palestinian attack on Israeli villages, etc. I know BBC gets a bad rap for the crap they do in Britain but as far at least bringing real news stories they do present them and don’t fill up time with celebrity gossip.
Let them try to censure Limbaugh. The GOP should introduce the censure measure for them. My prediction is that the 41 Senators that signed the letter to Clear Channel will filibuster the censure vote rather than see it receive less than a majority of votes.
Bring it to a vote and shut up or moveon already.
They have to make Rush a Senator to censure him. I say that would be worth it alone. Rush would really shake the place up.
Greenbay makes a strong point actually. Although anyone could read between the lines and see that their was a Senate resolution regarding the MoveOn ad, it wasn’t nearly as ridiculous as Congress trying to censure an individual. I don’t think Congress should be touching this with a 10-foot-pole.
Rush is right. The democrat party has been taken over by Stalinists.
Censuring a private citizen? What happens if Hillary wins the presidency? Off to the gulag with him?
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
And do everything you can to prevent the dims from winning in ‘08.
Unbelievable.
While they’re at it, why don’t they add John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, John Murtha, Barak Obama and that nitwit reporter who called the volunteer soldiers “mercenaries”? Those and others said things 100 times worse with NO other meaning than what came out of their mouths.
The obviously believe the collective IQ of the American people is 3. Hate to break the news to them, but the people see through this, which is why Congress’ approval rating is lower than rat scat in an outhouse.
At this point, everything else wrong with the world has apparently been solved. These clowns are wasting more time and money over a tempest in a teapot than 300 union employees leaning on their shovels.
ARRRGH! Enough already. Get back to work or resign!
Jerks!
You know, I think it might be appropriate to lock down the Capital building and rename it The Washington DC Institute for the politically insane.
The Capital can be seen in the distance from my office building. If I stick my head out of a window I can hear their howling all the way from Alexandria, and the moon is not even out yet.
If you want to fire someone nowdays you need to amass a paper trail to justify the firing. But you never talk about firing the person while creating the trail. That would look too much like you were setting them up.
We heard Democrats talking about reviving the “fairness” doctrine a couple months ago, but since the fake scandals with O’Reilly & Rush they haven’t breated a word about it.
The Lefties have intentionally backed off talking about the doctrine and are instead creating a MSM “paper trail” of right-of-center radio talk show hosts to justify censoring them some time in the future.
Will they censure ABC, for coining the term ?
They have all lost their freakin’ minds! Congress does not censure a private citizen!! It’s a special punishment reserved for their own:
The last time the Senate censured anyone was over 17 years ago. Good Lord! Can we send them all back to United States Government 101???
Congress is jumping on the Bush anti-freedom bandwagon now.
Apples & oranges, Rusty.
I think the main objection here isn’t to Congress expressing disapproval, it’s to the fact that they are knowingly lying about what he said.
The MoveOn ad unambiguously called General Petraeus a traitor and a liar. Calling them on that is honest and the right thing to do.
Limbaugh was clearly referring to literal phony-soldiers when he said “phony soldiers”. The Democrats are deceitfully claiming that he’s referring to all soldiers who oppose the war as “phony”. Their outrage at this is a transparent effort to show they support the troops, the same troops that they’ve spent forty years calling murderers, idiots and baby-killers.
Amen ACHefty, amen brotha. What a colossal waste of time and taxpayer money.
Rush is big, phony blowhard IMHO, but he’s free to say whatever the hell he wants within in the confines of FCC regs. Love him, hate him, listen to him, don’t listen to him, I don’t care and Congress shouldn’t care either. For crying out loud! BTW, my guess is that Rush is loving this, and this whole non-event only helps his ratings and bottom line.
Big ups to a few of you for some of the most over the top hyperbole I’ve seen in a thread in quite some time. Wow, “governmentdrone”, I realize that you were making use of exaggeration to make some sort of point, but you may want to go ahead and Wikipedia “Stalinism”. Ya gotta be kidding me.
What James Felix said + 1
governmentdrone – don’t you know! We conservatives already have a gulag. Ted Nugent runs it up in Michigan. We ship commie enviro-wacko peta lovin’ wardchurchill suckups there when we can Shanghi them. They are kept in rooms wallpapered with George Bush and Dick Cheney picures; have to eat meat; sleep in red, white, and blue sheets; listen to conservative talk radio 24/7; attend indoctination classes from Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham, and personality reorientation from Michael Savage and Mark Levin.
PS: For Libs and Moonbats – the above is what’s called a joke,
hyperboleoops sorry that one’s too hard…how ’bout…intentional exaggeration. DO NOT try to go to Michigan and confront Ted.I think you’re half-right on this, I think they’ve backed off not to create a paper trail (because, let’s face it, they don’t have the patience for that) but to do a “back door” introduction of the (Un)Fairness Doctrine since their last attempt was a spectacular failure.
They’re hoping to have us wake up one day to Air America on every station while Limbaugh, Savage, Sykes and other hosts sit in the unemployment line.
So this begs the question: what are they afraid of?
Clearly, it can’t be “hate speech” because all they have to do is look at the Daily Kos and other lefty sites to see REAL hate speech, so that leads me to the logical conclusion that what they’re afraid of is the TRUTH.
And their afraid if people hear the conservative side of an argument, they’ll agree with it, and liberals can’t allow that diversity of thought to take place!
If they weren’t, they’d be willing to let conservative hosts do their thing, but they are hysterically trying to shut conservative talk radio down.
Freedom of speech is only ok for the libs. We aren’t allowed to speek our minds.
Oooops!…Dick Cheney
picurespictures;Augustine, body of post, pretty damn funny. The PS, not so much.
queen, as a sort of neutral observer, it looks to me like the right rules the talk radio roost and the left rules the blogosphere roost, and as a result, the right lobs grenades at the lefty websites and the left lobs them back at the right radio shows. All in the name of political commentary and punditry as entertainment. Hard to take any of it seriously to be honest, especially if you don’t have a dog in the fight.
I’m not a big Rush fan, but this whole “scandal” and the people behind it and fueling it are pathological in their hypocrisy.
Man, I hate it when you barrister’s are right. Touche’ dakine.
‘Phoney Soldiers’ = men and women who never served and are lying to the agenda-driven press, but liberals, cannot grasp the ‘phoney’.
Is it any wonder, since they also cannot grasp ‘illegal’ as in ‘illegal alien’?
Queenie, you said:
I disagree. The Left has infinite patience. Look how long Hillary has waited, and how much she has put up with to become president. Look at how many times they will attack smokers or gun owners or the death penalty until they get the exactly right combinations of justices, lawyers & legislators to get what they want.
It took them decades to defeat the tobacco industry. They took over colleges slowly and deliberatly. They’ve been pounding the “global warming/global cooling” drum for decades.
They are willing to wait, they are willing to be patient. They know that they need “precident” before they invoke something as un-American as a “fairness” doctrine. So they bide their time and build up that precident in the minds of American over years and years. They started this attack years ago by making up the crime of “hate speech.” They slowly got Americans to accept the idea that certain forms of speech aren’t protected by the First Amendment. Now they just need to (slowly) convince a majority of the American populace that what Rush & Co. are doing is “hate speech.” Then the First Amendment no longer applies to them.
Twenty years ago no one would have imagined that states would being to legalize gay marriage. No one except the activists that worked day and night in the judicial, educational, entertainment and legislative systems in America to see their dreams come true. And now it has.
Lefties realized way back in the early part of the 20th Century that up-front Socialism doesn’t work in America. They don’t kill American rights and traditions outright, they kill them by a thousand cuts.
The logic of the Congress is so, cl-ass
backwards. Any fool can see that they are only helping his popularity and emboldening him. Fools like Rush should be dismissed and ignored on Capital Hill, not causing hours of wasted paper, floor time, and $$$. This behaviour is such tit for tat high school garbage.
Just was at Drudge now Lizzy Edwards is jumping on Rush. Attacking Rush’s draft deferment, suggesting it’s fake. Then stating Rush denigrating our troops because they expressing their opinions. What tripe and lies she spews. This is why I left the Dimwitted party long long time ago. Total asses, they will sell this country to the highest bidder. Makes me want to throw up!
re: #12 tony the tiger
You are so right. I have a couple more convoluted statements from that letter:
There, fixed that one.
And then there’s…
I’ve got several problems with that one:
1) In the first place I seriously doubt those figures for the simple reason that so many of these types of polls (which favor the left’s view) have been shown to be purposely skewed.
2) I seriously doubt those figures for another simple reason that we have a totally voluntary military; I find it very hard to fathom that more of our soldiers would be against than for. If that were the case, why do our young people continue to sign up and others choose to re-enlist?
3) They are using extremely faulty logic. In their own words, “From this figure alone,” they make the “out-of-the-blue” assumption that, “it is clear that Mr. Limbaugh’s insult is directed at thousands of American service members.
These guys are off the planet! Would love to have been a fly on the wall when they received Mr. Mays’s response.
These Democraps think we just fell from a turnnip truck.
The more time they waste on this garbage, the less time they have to spend on crippling the economy and reducing the average standard of living back to 1850s levels in the name of “social justice” and “global warming.” I’m grateful to Rush for taking one for the team.
I’m sure they honestly believe Durbin, Reid, Murtha, Kerry, et al were supporting the troops with their slanderous comments.
I feel like I am either in the Twilight Zone or Stalin’s Soviet Union. Doesn’t the most ethical Congress in history have more to do than go after a private citizen’s 1st Amendment rights? At least it keeps them from passing any legislation to continue to do more harm to the country I guess.
Can a private citizen be Censured by the government?
Let me see, it says right here in the memoirs of Joe Stalin that,… of course they can. Citizens that disagree can also be ‘Hospitalized as insane’ by definition.
Have they checked their approval rating lately? I mean they’re less popular than Pres. Bush, and they’re wasting their time on a contrived controversy like this. I know they’re hoping to “get him” and destroy his credibility, and thus remove a big thorn in their side, but if you live in a glass house…
The aspect about this that makes me feel like I’m taking crazy pills the most is that by any honest reading of the transcripts for the whole week, RUSH NEVER SAID WHAT THEY THINK HE SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR SAYING!!! The Dems, at the behest of their Can’tMoveOn.Argh chainholders, are taking a pair of words so far out of context that people who cobble together positive-sounding ads for movies out of negative reviews would be aghast. Yet they press on in the face of the unambiguous truths as to what was meant secure in the knowledge that their cronies in the Treason Media won’t call them out on their BS.
When Al Sharpton’s lynch mobs got Imus taken off the air, no one cared about Don’s free speech rights and like it or not, Imus DID say what he said in the context that it was reported. It was a stupid thing to say, but he stepped in it like George Allen did with his career-ending outburst. Mel Gibson’s drunken ravings will be used against him forever, too, because he is a hated Catholic and not a Hollyweird liberal.
But while those people get hammered for actually saying something, they’re trying to crucify him for NOT saying something wrong. They are so desperate to marginalize him that they’re pulling this stunt when they are just one honest news report or two away from having it backfire exponentially.
But the greater loss is what Bill Bennett mentioned a day or two ago: By pursuing this fatwa against Rush, the Dems are shredding any possibility of polite discourse occurring and with a nation at war with a barbaric genocidal and Apocalyptic ideology, the refusal to talk to fellow countrymen only seals our doom further. It’s too bad that Dubya is one of those prissy-sissy Christians who turns the other cheek to everything. What the world needs now is a good strong Old Testament-flavored Christian (yeah, I know) who can kick some butt verbally in response to these sorts of slanders. The Dems dare called Dubya the most divisive President ever. Puh-leeze.
Bear, she’s still kicking herself for letting Al Gore invent the Internet!
Any attempt to censure a private citizen (i.e., someone NOT a member of the US House of Representatives) by Rep. Udall, is a violation of the Constitution, specifically advocating a Bill of Attainder. See Article 1, Section 9 of the Constitution.
The constitution specifically forbids the use of bill of attainders: “No bill of attainder or ex post facto law shall be passed.” Which means that they cannot even be considered.
It is my hope that should Rep Udall attempt this, that the Republican leadership will enter a resolution to censor Udall for violating the Constitution, himself.
In fact, I believe that such behavior on the part of Udall to be worthy of expulsion from Congress.
Tammy Bruce nails it.
Come on folks,I love it when they do these stunts, anyone with a brain can see through it,they remind me of someone who goes in the woods and squats to do their business and then falls back in it.The more they try with this stuff the better it is for all of us.
I think they should censure Rush…….
He leaves radio, and runs for office.
There’s one caveat to that, docflash – it’s only better for us so long as we have people like MM, Rush, and a list of other conservative bloggers, talk show hosts, and Fox News to broadcast this stuff factually.
Goodness knows the MSM won’t, and how many people critically analyze the news? Not many – they take the drivel the MSM feeds them as gospel, and that’s dangerous.
They lie about what Limbaugh said, they waste the time of Congress promoting this lie for political purposes, they think William Jefferson is fine, they libelously accuse the troops of murdering civilians, they ironeously claim the war is lost for political purposes, they cheer the enemy. . . . But don’t accuse them of not being patriotic.

He usually waits for the dust to settle a bit – to make sure that he’s on the mark, then makes his statement; making sure to not have to apologize for wrong info., or intel. That’s what Dems hate about him – “Can’t he ever say he was wrong?” I think the Prez will come out about this soon. It won’t be what the press conference is about – but he’ll use that opportunity to weigh in.
Did they borrow this language from the U.N.?
Idiots.

I wonder if she’d share the kicking duties with some of the outraged American public.
I wonder how much Bill and Hill were planning to make on the sale of 3Com to the Chinese Military?
Big stuff- breaking news.
Salazar’s my senator. I contacted his office yesterday asking him to stop raggin’ on Rush and starting condemning the phony soldiers instead. Guess he’s not going to take my advise.
TMoney …
Some of those amongst the “phony” list did serve but then embellished their service records as having been decorated heroes and/or lied about what they did and where they were at and what they saw such as Scott Beauchamp
I wonder if this country is headed towards civil war.
Yes, I mean a real civil war with guns in the streets, assassinations, bombing, burning, raping, looting and armies moving across the land…
Seriously folks we have some white hot hatred coming from the Left that reminds me of the hatred the Old South directed at the North just prior to the last civil war…This is a nation divided and compromise seems impossible. When compromise becomes impossible what remains? Violence.
So what’s next? Will the 2008 elections be a repeat of the elections of 1860? Will the election of a Republican president light the fire of civil war?
Cheers, Ronbo
BITE YOUR TONGUE!
He’s much more effective right where he is!!!

you are so on the mark. They are very patient. I think all these attacks on Rush just shows how desperate and stupid they are. It boggles my mind to think our elected officials don’t have the smarts my 11 year old has.
Outside of the voice of the bloggers, I’m looking for that one Republican with the stones to make serious noise over this and the other stupid Senator tricks. The opposition are a bunch of collective weenies. Or, there simply is no opposition anymore in Congress.
IMO, all of the nonsense we see from today’s Dems was started by the nutcase Howard Dean during his presidential run in 2003. What role does he have in this and other ploys….thoughts?
And, have you ever thought what John Adams or Thomas Jefferson would have to say about today’s political situation?
Soon we’ll hear about Hillary’s 82 combat missions over Nam.
You knew she was a man before she caught the shrapnel.
RONBO:
You had the guts to say it, but I’ve been thinking the same thing. I just got back from the gym, and I was thinking the exact same thing while working out…weird. Not really like THE CIVIL WAR, but something close. Maybe I’m smellin something like the 1960s, with the cynicism and hostility.
I hope I’m wrong, and I’m surely over reacting, but I’ve never seen politics this ugly and divided. I’ve never seen so much hostility and irrationality from both sides of the aisle.
I’m a democrat and a moderate, but I dislike Hillary, and can’t stand the current Congress. On some issues like national security, welfare, and immigration I’m conservative. On others like civil rights(gays included), health care, and foreign affairs I’m pretty liberal for whatever those corny labels are worth. Mostly I loathe hypocrisy and intolerance
I have strong opinions on issues, but I don’t believe in at us/them mentality. I give props when necessary, and I condemn when necessary, regardless of political sides involved I’m sane and rational, and I work with a lot of right wing republicans, who are also sane and rational. Most of America is good, and can disagree without being belligerent, hateful and violent.
But something is in the air. You can hear it on tv/radio. There are psychos on the left and the right. I don’t know what side people are on politically when a simple Youtube video or sports article is followed by the most racist, sexist, homophobic, and just generally vile language. There is a lot of hate out there, and the airwaves, internet, and certainly the government are just fueling the fire.
Thanks for the excellent comment to my comment,Buck!
Rush Limbaugh has been around for 20 years and whether you agree or disagree with him or not, he is a pretty decent and honorable guy whose remarks on things political are made with logic, reason and are always fact checked with care.
So why is Rush being raked over the coals by the Left at this particular time and on the basis of a lie so easily exposed? My opinion is that the Left is going after Rush simply in blind anger directed at a Rightist Media figure who has scored so many good points against the opposition team and who they see as the Spokesman for the conservative movement in America.
As I review the many articles and comments made by Leftists in the Media and on the Blogs, I’ve formed the opinion they not only want Rush censored and/or run off the air — They want Rush dead just as the Left wishes Bush, Cheney, Rove, Libby etc. were dead. They want them dead and gone not for their vices and failures, but for their virtues and success.
First come the thoughts…Then come the deeds. I really do believe civil war waits in the wings. I hope 2008 is not 1860 redux, but for decades the seeds of civil war have been planted in this country, and like the Old South in 1860, the Leftist Establishment today is facing replacement by the Right. The lesson of history is that no ruling class goes down without a fight.
Cheers, Ronbo
Libs are trying to strengthen their “Fairness Doctrine” assault; in direct contradiction to the freedom of the press as instituted by the 1st Amendment. If they persist; conservative legislators need to forward that all media would need to follow this doctrine; of which we do not want either, but get the liberals to explain why only they are attacking talk radio? Any way you slice it; this should be easy for the SCOTUS to overturn.
Rush, I know what you are talking about. Those scumbags that may or may not have served in the military but actually never were in combat; a lot of troops never go to combat, even during a war. I came back from Desert Storm and heard the story of an Airman 1st Class that remained at his base at RAF Lakenheath, UK, during that war. He took leave shortly after everyone else returned; back to his home town, he got himself interviewed by the local news. He told them of his missions over Iraq, yanking and banking. It never happened and the Wing King at Lakenheath found out about it; needless to say, there was a hot reception waiting. These are the kind of people Rush is talking about; liars! There are folks who have served with honor and integrity, and are against the war. There is no disparaging of their character.
As much as I do not want to see it, Ronbo may very well be right. As bad as it would be, watching the death of America and freedom is far worse.
Not a revolution, but a restoration. The sacks of **** occupying our capital are the ones who have disobeyed the law and thrown out the Constitution. It is up to the citizens of America to preserve the nation and the RULE OF LAW.
“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
Ronbo & Buck, kudos on the discourse!…and Buck, my sincerest apologies, I sorely misjudged you.
Augustine:
No hard feelings. I apologize in return. I’m sure we’ll disagree on many things in the future and agree on others. We all just want the country to get on the right track and stay safe.
Now, I’m going to enjoy a weekend of football. All negative discourse is set aside when we’re cheering for the same team.
Buck…
Hear, Hear! You know sometimes we (conservatives) can get caught up in the hyperbole as well. We (conservatives) say we want civil discourse with opposing views, and I believe we do, but we’ve got to really be careful not to become what we (and I believe, you too) despise most. That is, morally backrupt irrational lunatics of any political persuasion who have lost sight of the country as a whole and will say or do anything to undermind the foundations of our Republic.
Cheers
No dakine, I wasn’t kidding you. And by the looks of some of the posters later in the day yesterday, I’m not the only one who thinks “Stalinists” isn’t over the top to describe the folks attempting to take over the American left today. I’ve lived for quite awhile, and believe me the MoveOn, Media Matters, Kos crowd (“It’s our party, we paid for it and we own it”) are far closer to the rulers of the old Soviet Union than they are to the likes of Truman, Kennedy and Humphrey. I’ve experienced them – have you?
BTW, “Wikipedia” = unreliable.
Careful dakine, your liberalism, err, progressiveism, is showing.
I said before, that I thought Obama was a straw man, this flag pin flap, proves it, in case he looked too moderate. Hillary Clinton gets elected we can change the name of the country to “The Socialist States of America”
Has anybody looked into Media Matters on the finance side? They describe themselves differently, then they behave. They behave like an arm of the Democrat Party, are they tax exempt? Is anyone looking into them are they transparent?
This is Tucker Carlson, on what is going on with Rush and Media Matters. I have been here before, when last April, Media Matters targeted Don Imus. Imus in the Morning, went off the air. Imus had many political people, from both partys on the Air. I think these Political Canidates, could have availed themselves to his format. I don’t think it is out of line to state that some of the second tier canidates, might have gotten some traction in the polls. Today Senator Hillary Clinton, is the front runner without any real challenger and Obama- The Straw Man, used up all the oxygen, for any of the other canidates, to get any “face time” on the MSM. Was this all pre arranged I believe so.

How about for once they do the jobs they were elected to do? How much of OUR taxpayer funded time are they wasting on this ridiculousness? Is the ONLY way they they think they can get a boost in approval ratings?
