The nerve of Geraldo Rivera
This man has some nerve. Here he is, the insane man who threatened to, you know, spit on me, last night, complaining that the “extremes” on both sides of the political debate are guilty of “coarsening the debate.” Thanks to Allahpundit for clipping the unstomach-able clip:
“Coarsening the debate.”
Un. Freaking. Believable.

Do as I say, not as I do. Typical of a liberal to boss us around like we’re a bunch of know-nothing pipsqueaks. Why does Fox continue to shred their credibility with this phony?
I think having Geraldo does hurt Fox’s credibility. I stayed away from Fox for a long time because all I knew about them was they had Geraldo. It wasn’t until I stumbled across the O’Reilly Factor while channel surfing that I began to realize what else they had.
Is it just me our does anyone else get this image in their head when they see Geraldo?
Geraldo?
I wonder when his contract is up? If Jerry’s contract is near completion it could be easier to wait for that then to try and can his useless mustache.
I remember when Fox announced he was coming to the network. I wanted to know who slipped what into their coffee.
Geraldo really needs to go back to interviewing skinheads and other ilks. His lack of credibility belongs in the ‘Jerry Springer’ crowd, not on FoxNews.
I even have to quetion all his views these days.
Not that I’m holding my breath but, when is his book on MS-13 coming out????

I don’t believe anything Geraldo has to say. He is a sensationalist and nothing more. Geraldo debating real issues, now that’s comedy!
Heraldo’s a HasBeen who needs desperately to be seen as a media force. He’s actually pitiable.
Right after he apologizes to Michelle…face to face, like a real man.
Michelle,
It’s one thing for someone to threaten to spit on a colleague, but to compare The Mustached One to Rosie O’Donnell? How could you sink to such depths?! Let’s keep it civil here.
What else would you expect from an arrogant jerk like him. I, also, turn the channel when I see him. He has to talk the loudest & the most to make sure he dominates the conversation. He should move to cnn with Rick Sanchez - they could call their show “The Latin Shuffle”.
I’ve written to FNC to let them know I do not watch any show starring Geraldo Rivera. When he is on as a commentator on other’s shows I turn the sound down until he is gone.
He has no value as a commentator and I suspect any ‘reportage’ he is involved in.
Typical of a lefty: agree with MY positions, or your “coarsening the debate.”
Perhaps the debate NEEDS to be coarsened, Mr. Rivera, otherwise the moonbats and liberal extremists would run roughshod over the rest of us…like they don’t try to do that, anyway.
Since when is it a crime to defend one’s positions passionately?
I watched that segment last night, and it was typical Geraldo…blustering, shouting, making no sense.
It was difficult to watch.
Jerry is a flaming, odious pile of hypocrisy. Nothing more needs to be said.
Michelle — when are you going to be back on Papa Bear’s(*) show to debate KP on Mondays??? We miss you!
(*) Yes, I know that’s the term Stephen Colbert coined to mock O’Reilly - but I think it’s funny in an innocuous way, so Papa Bear it is!
At times I feel like Rip Van Winkle after waking up from a 20 year sleep. When did Geraldo enter main stream journalism? I remember him as the chair tossing (or more accurately receiving), idiotic, blowhard king of Trash TV. Then seemingly out of no where, legitimate networks appear to be giving him faux respectability. What the heck happened while I was sleeping??? The only thing missing is the chair
“Coarsness” thy name is Geraldo!
Normally someone of his ilk would be called a buffoon. Someone else called him a spitoon and that is probably a more correct definition.
I agree with CharlieT…when did “we” start taking Geraldo seriously?
hey pb, watch how you throw ‘we’ out there.
He has always come across to me as about as trustworthy as a used car salesman or worst yet a really slimy defense lawyer. As soon as he comes on Fox News the TV goes off or the channel changes in our house.
I watched his performance last night.
I thought for certain he was going to hit Sean.
He is definitely a loose tongued cannon.
What a wimp he is to be so dramatic, like can he NOT have a civil conversation without showing his hate?
He needs meds asap.
I think at some point in time Geraldo jumped in one of those brain eating amoeba lakes.
I put it in quotes to denote the fact that almost all posters here don’t count in that assessment. I wouldn’t slander you like that, AJ.
I never took him seriously and I never will.
I appreciate that.
AJ, you have such a way with words.
LOL!
Morning all … not sorry to say that I missed this “performance” … was at the ball game instead … but my opinion of the original crapweasel has not changed in 20 odd years … I put him in the same bag of journalistic trash as Jerry Springer … just waiting for someone to take that trash out … not even worth my time as it continues to be the same old tired crap out of their mouths … the old adage about leopards and tigers can’t change their respective spots and stripes totally applies here … he is well on his way to disappearing from sight … again … I can hardly wait
Giving really slimy defense lawyers a bad name?
Hi DL! Haven’t seen you around lately.
I do not put Gerald in the same league as Springer. Jerry seems to be a nice guy and his show is what it is. He doesn’t attack or spit on people. We just watch his guests perform. They sign an agreement to make fools of themselves, soooooo.
Gerald on the other hand should be respectable of all hosts and guests.
FOX has a different standard than Jerry’s.
When Jerry retires, Gerald would be the best candidate since he’d take everything personally and get into fights with all the men! haha!
That would be fun to watch!
Any time I see Geraldo Rivera, I keep thinking of his ovver-hyped “Al Capone’s Vault” special. Any credibility he may have had died that evening on live television.
Vic, he should have stayed in that vault, wouldn’t you agree?
Liberals lowered the bar many years ago. The only thing that upsets them about the coarsness of the debate is that conservatives are fighting back. Thanks to the new media their lies are no longer accepted as gospel.
Can we just tie Geraldo to the helm of his sailboat and point him east?
So Geraldo thinks Rush should just “apologize” and all this would stop. Let me see if I understand this…Rush apologizes for something he didn’t do - the left wing lunatics post front page headlines that Rush Limbaugh has admitted his guilt - Harry and Nancy are horrified that JQ Public are being so misled - ahhhh… the Fairness Doctrine has to be implemented!
hi gayle … morning aj …
How about we replace Leonardo DiCaprio on the bow of the Titanic with GR? …
Gilbert Grape and Geraldo, hmmm, something strangely in common there.
…..good morning.
I’d be banned from MM.com if I said what I want to say about that slimebucket, so I’ll refrain.
Geraldo is himself the epitome of coarseness. He sometimes rises to low-class but is mostly a no-class arrogant jerk. That’s the nicest thing I can say about him.
Anytime he’s on, I turn him off. And if he irritates me enough I send a note to Fox telling them I just switched channels so as not to ruin my day:
yourcomments@foxnews.com
It’s a sad commentary on the state of television that someone like him can succeed by being such a low-life.
I think I will design a TV remote with GR’s image on the mute button … I am sure I could sell millions of them …
Is it a ball or a strike? Is it fair or foul? Imagine life where no one called it like it is. By giving any ground to this debate to liberal thinking shows that some people don’t have the guts to stand for truth.
He is the Jar-Jar Binks of FOX News
He stated on the show he never listened to Rush said so really has no reason to comment on this story. You would think that when they discuss a subject like this the people involved might actually do a little research before hand.
Liberal Arrogance Principle #1: Never let issues get in the way of personal attacks. You could be cornered into reading, researching, considering a different point of view than ours and thereby becoming more tolerant and understanding. In addition, it will save you the time and energy of formulating a position and having to debate an issue. It just so tedious. Beside the politics of personal destruction makes for better TV.
Is he still on TV? I wish I knew what he added to the debate that was more substantive than Rush Limbaugh.
Anyway, it’s just more mustache - nothing to see here.
“Faux News Alert”
Geraldo Rivera missing!
Last seen sailing east,
After 5 minutes Coast Gaurd calls off search. film at 11:00
aj … OT … sorry about your angels buddy … better luck tomorrow night …
Geraldo comes on, I change the channel. I can’t stand the sound of his voice much less attempt to listen to what he has to say. It’s just not worth the rise of my blood pressure.
thanks
Apparently neither of us was happy with the ballgames last night aj.
Hopefully, both teams come back roaring.
OT-
It aint over till the fat lady sings but if we lose Friday she’ll be in the stands warmin up. La la La La Laaaaa la laaaaa.
Fox has to understand that this man does not reflect well on the network. However, like most organizations, the bottom line is money. Until advertisers start complaining that people are not buying their products because of his presence on Fox, nothing will be done.
The man is a journalistic joke and everyone knows it but Fox!
gotta go play in the traffic … catch up with everyone a little later …
“Both sides are corsening the debate”
Yeah, ‘cuz Geraldo’s a centrist ya know.
Pointing out their phony soldiers (which is true BTW) is coarsening the debate? At the risk of violating Godwin’s law, Goebbels would be proud.
I also change the channel when Geraldo appears on-screen.
Here’s my two-cents worth:
Geraldo is not worthy to shine Michelle Malkin’s shoes, much less sit across the table from her. He’s an open-borders hysterical racist twit with a Juris Doctor. Maybe a prescription for Valium would help.
The debate has always been coarse Geraldo. Go back and look how people spoke of Washington and Lincoln. Politics is a blood sport. In other countries they kill each other to run the country, here we vote. Be thankful.
But if you spit on Michelle, I’ll swell your eye up like Popeye!
I’m another one who turns the channel when he’s on. Last night I missed this because when I saw him I turned back to “Ghost Hunters” on Sci-Fi. Sorry all, not a fan of professional sports anymore. I did watch the clip and while it seemed unbelievable with his “Rush should apologize” comment, I wondered why I was surprised. It’s ridiculous.
Fasternu, I use to give my students assignments researching the press of the days of Washington, Adams, Jefferson, & Lincoln. Like Geraldo, they lived in the moment and had no clue what the press was like in the “good old days”. Geraldo is a disgrace though and I will continue to turn the channel when that mustache comes on.
Old curandera woman: “When the moon is full and the marijuana plants grow tall, the were-coyote Geraldo shall stalk the earth! Cackle, cackle, cackle.”
Take Geraldo seriously?
Three words:
Al Capone’s Vault.
Bwahahahahahahahaaaaaa.
Geraldo is living proof of why trolls should not be fed.
What’s this “we”, white man?
As a Star Wars fan, I know exactly what you mean by this.
All,
Speaking of the Left for some reason there is some infighting going on in the Smear Orgs. Somebody’s trying to cover Hillary Clinton’s behind? I know this isn’t directly Geraldo Rivera but when I think Left…well.
Rick, See Dubya, have you read this one? Is there a meltdown going on with these Clinton Political Arms?
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2007/10/03/did-media-matters-just-call-hillary-liar
terrig
Here are some political cartoons from early America. Geraldo can’t see past the shadow his enormous moustachioed head casts.
Andrew Johnson
Lincoln as a monkey issuing the Emancipation proclomation.
More
What a moron.
Well we should understand Geraldo is not and never has been a news reporter. He is a paparazi minion. That is why he quickly becomes irrational rather than detached when any real news hits the press. Personally I think it is best to let the dog lie, if you know what I mean.
This guy is a big mouth moron going way back to the OJ trial. I won’t watch him, I hit the clicker when he comes on any FNC program. I can’t believe this guy attacks any viewers to Fox. Most libbers don’t watch Fox. I think most of the FNC views must find this guy a blow hard.
I would like to get this guy off from Fox. I guess I’ll write a letter to Roger Ailes. Let’s all write letters to get rid of this idiot!
Geraldo had no business on that segment. I was watching live, and was glad to see Monica Crowley back on FNC again. She’s, easy on the eyes, very smart and a good debater. But El Mustachio did not have any working understanding of what was said by either side of this issue.
He said “I don’t believe anything Rush Limbaugh says, I don’t believe anything MoveOn says. What did Rush say? Why couldn’t he just say I’m sorry and be done with it?” He had no idea what the actual debate was, and only seemed to want to appear “above the fray” himself. No suprise there, it’s always about him in his mind.
Why they keep turning to the Macho Mustachioed One for things like this I’ll never understand. Go down the list of liberal talking point vending machines FNC usually has on to debate the “right” side, and any one would have been better than him. Anybody who was actually familiar with this, anybody but Mr.Spittoon.
Geraldo does hurt FOX from my viewpoint. Ever since the ’spit in her face’ segment I turn FOX off completely on any program and/or any segment that now includes that assbite Rivera. I saw he was to come on last night on one of my fav’s (Hannity & that other guy), and I turned it off. I also turn him off on O’Reilly. I also refuse to watch his weekend garbage show. Poor Laurie Dhue. How did she get mixed in with that moron?
Geraldo is as Wil-E-Coyote put it - Supra Genius.
How about finding Al Capone’s vaults Geraldo? What a fantastic reporter.
The last time I watched that guy brag about himself being in Iraq I decided to change the channel because there was nothing to listen to any further from him. Hey look at me! I’m Geraldo. Pfft. What a twit.
MM, we miss you on the BOR show, a voice of sanity backed with facts and not full of emotion like KP. I would so look forward to watching when you were going to be on.
I’m curious why is it your no longer seen on his program…were you taking too much of his spotlit, he is a bit arrogant?
I saw this yesterday, and at the time thought Jerry and alan were totally speaking as one. When Alan made the comment that Rush was keeping the story going I almost thought he looked like Jerry. I guess the fact that the Senate took it up means that Rove/Rush had something to do with forcing the Senate to keep it going. Really quite pathetic.
I feel a little late joining the party, but Geraldo is a PHONEY Reporter. I change FOX anytime he comes on, even when he shows up on O’Riley. Bill should have called him on the carpet for wanting to spit on MM.
Geraldo lost his journalistic integrity quite a while ago, not that he had much.
I sat open mouthed and stunned on how he butchered a segment or Chris Benoit a while back with several mistatements.
Fox keeps him on for name value and ratings. “Maybe he’ll get in a screaming match with O’Reilly and Malkin, or get hit in the nose with a chair.” Geraldo is Fox’s version of Rosie or Flava Flav, you know just chaos for water cooler talk.
SPIT……..GERALDO……Geraldo ….Spit….Reminds me of something my Uncle told me a long time ago….He said “never spit in a man’s face unless his moustache is on fire”.
anybody smell smoke??
I watched this live last night, and can’t believe nobody asked GR if he had even (1) listened to the tape, or (2) read the entire transcript. He obviously had not. They had him addressing an incident based entirely on his own bias! And what’s with the snide “snot on his mustache” comment…has Rush Limbaugh ever sported a mustache? How long will Fox put up with this embarrassment?
Nothing will happen to get this guy off Fox unless we ALL write to Roger Ailes and demand that he be removed or we are NOT watching any Fox program when he is on.
Just talking about this situation will not do much to clip this guys wings. Also, I guess we can write to Hannity and O’ Reily and give them the same message. Action is needed, not just talk.
A simple yet reliable rule of thumb for someone like Geraldo Rivera is: Whatever he’s condemning in others, he’s hiding from himself.
You see, when he threatens to spit on Michelle, he’s just “reacting” to the “coarsening” of the debate; in fact, in his mind Michelle is the “coarsener,” so if anything it’s her fault that he made such a repulsive comment.
He’s just a victim of that wicked woman.
Yeah, that’s the ticket…
“I’m the King of My Mustache!”
As a Star Wars fan, I am insulted you would compare the two. Jar-Jar has a brain and was a leader that could be trusted. Geraldine-o was a traitor who gave away our troop positions to the enemy.
Jar-Jar: I spek
Geraldine-o: I spit
The Jerry Springer Show debuted in the fall of 1991. Geraldo started in 1987. The sleaze began in 1986 with Al Capone’s vault. Geraldo is the original sleaze-master.
I was stunned when Fox hired him. Hopefully, he will be gone soon.
What do you expect? Here is another Liberal who has spent his entire career pandering and doing his best to keep his ego over-inflated while at the same time remain as condescending as humanly possible. No other network wanted him any more, and after 9-11 he saw his chance. Pretending to become “reborn” following the attacks and masquerading as a Right leaning Moderate who saw the evils of his Liberal ways following the attacks, he finagled a job at Fox. Then came the start of the Iraq Invasion, where he thought he could pretend to be macho by imbedding himself and trying to portray himself as the “New SCUD Stud”. Well, this backfired when his true Liberal colors just could not be restrained very long and gave out American positions and troop movements and classified plans LIVE on TV for all the enemy to see, leading to his getting booted out of the country.
Why he was not brought up on charges, let alone fired on the spot by Fox still boggles my mind, and instead they have provided him with more and more opportunity to spread his own particular brand of anti-American hatred and Liberal bias. He is too egotistical to even realize what an absolute joke he appears to be to rational people, and I would be willing to bet that everyone in the halls and offices at Fox secretly laugh at him behind his back.
C’mon Michelle…you are there all the time. You can tell us…just what type of mocking things are done about him around their studios while he thinks people there worship him and actually care about what he thinks or says? We promise not to let him know…much.
Geraldo has a fixation with sexual perversion and blonde women…I knew I could no longer watch him when he flashed a “poorly obscured” OJ Simpson pranching around fully naked after having sex on some video he had found (and placed on national TV)…the image caught me off guard before I could look away; but the sin is all his! Now I watch out for the FOX NEWS primetime perve-hour with Geraldo.
Is the Geraldo feud the reason that Michelle has not appeared on the Factor for a few weeks?
If so, I hope BOR realizes that many of his viewers prefer Michelle segments to Geraldo segments.
