Boxer amendment would block immigration enforcement in order to count illegal aliens for 2010 Census, boost Democrat seats

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 8, 2007 03:33 PM

Well, lookee what California Sen. Barbara Boxer is up to now (click for full-size):

boxeramendment.jpg

The rub:

boxeramendment003.jpg
Boxer’s amendment, SA 3246, is attached to the current spending bill up on the Senate floor. So, why is Boxer so interested in blocking aggressive immigration enforcement leading up to the 2010 Census?

Hint, hint:

U.S. states with large numbers of undocumented immigrants could receive additional seats in Congress after the 2010 census is conducted.

A University of Connecticut study concluded Arizona, Texas and Florida could all see their House delegations increase due to rising populations that include sizable numbers of illegal immigrants.

Although they can’t vote, such aliens are included in the census. The San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News predicted Tuesday the pending 2010 headcount could be the subject of a political fight as Democrats and Republicans jockey for position before House seats are reallocated.

The Connecticut study also predicted California and New Jersey would likely keep their current number of seats while states with fewer immigrants, including New York, Illinois and Ohio, will lose a seat or two.

Where do your senators stand?

Full view of the public? Been eating too many smoked turkey legs?

Bro, the public will not be made aware of this unless the bloggers (thanks Michelle) blog it. Then, the people who really care about what is going on will have to imform themselves.

The MSM will not come within a thousand feet of this one. Besides, Brittney is fighting for her children and Dave made Paris cry.

The two party system in America is splitting into international socialists (liberal progressive Democrats aka communists) and laissez faire social capitalists (Tax and spend Republicans. I know - a contradiction in terms). Unfortunately, the folks who really want a democratic constitutional republic are increasingly in the minority.

Boxer, Clinton, Obama just want to push their international socialist/communist “it takes a village” agenda a bit quicker but regardless the trends are toward a socialistic republic over the next few decades. America will be Europeanized. Don’t get too upset when the unemployment rates are double digit and there is little discretionary income to buy a better house or better car. Oh, let’s not forget, you won’t really be able to start a business to better yourself as it will be just too darned expensive and there will be a blizzard of regulations.

The problem is that most illegals will not respond to the census takers questions because they fear they will be turned in and deported … as a result the census takers “estimate” the number of people in those residences as if they had gotten real answers …

Personally I see no reason to give a hoot how many illegals are not properly counted …

The reason for the census being accurate is so that it can be used as a basis to allow for realignment of the number of representatives in the house for legal citizen voters …

Since the illegals aren’t supposed to be able to vote they should have no bearing on the numbers used to reapportion the seats in Congress …

no right to vote = no right to representation …

Don’t let these libs reward the sanctuary cities and states for breaking the law by giving them more votes in the Congress …

I also see that they HAVE stopped enforcing agressively in several previous census taking years…. Nice to know…

At a time when we’re stepping up our enforcement - we should now ‘draw down’ so we can accurately count the numbers of illegals here…

Here’s a solution - assign the task of census taking to ICE - kill 2 birds with one stone.

I believe our immigration problems will only get worse unless we work together to resolve them. Be assured that I will continue to fight to improve our immigration system in a manner that strengthens our border security, protects American workers, and reduces illegal immigration. Barbara Boxer

Tuesday Greetings Mrs. Malkin and loyal community. Thank you Mrs. Malkin for your eagle-eyed attention to the nefarious initiatives of our junior Senator from California. Always if I would point out the ill-doings of senators from other states, I must be mindful of the plank in California’s own eye. As I have noted before with the machinations of Sen. Dick Durbin, the term “gerrymander” entered the American political lexicon almost 200 years ago through the tortured political districting done then in Massachusetts. Even then career politicians wanted to select their voters by whatever means possible, rather than themselves be subject to the unfettered purview of the electorate. If one is mindful that multiterm Senators Barbara Boxer and Dick Durbin and like-minded colleagues are loyal to themselves and their political connections, and not at all to our country, then their intent to build their optimum voter base through wholesale importation from abroad can be understood. Much appreciate the persistent efforts of Mrs. Malkin and various members of her loyal community in calling public attention to these maneuvers in the shade.

We are told the illegals come up here to take/do jobs that we Americans won’t do. We are also told that the crops will go rotting in the fields unless we open the borders. Drive past a Home Depot and you can hire an illegal for $100/day plus transportation and lunch. The crop picking job is now the job that the Americans AND the illegals will not do.

Article I, Section 2 of the US Constitution outlines the Census, and it does not (sadly) limit its application to citizens:

Representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several states which may be included within this union, according to their respective numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole number of free persons, including those bound to service for a term of years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons. The actual Enumeration shall be made within three years after the first meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent term of ten years, in such manner as they shall by law direct.

So, interesting to note that non-citizens should count as no more than 3/5 … so every 5 million illegals would count as only 3 million = still substantial. Now, last time around, there was all sorts of talk about “extrapolating” the numbers of those who weren’t really counted (homeless, those out of the country, etc), so how much do we bet that process would get expanded? Also, wouldn’t this simply give the INS a nice list of unregistered aliens, with names and addresses? Seems like this is just bad on every possible level. That being the case, most illegals wouldn’t want to be counted and the liberals would holler even louder to be allowed to “extrapolate” their state’s numbers, based of course simply on their own greed for power.

The answer for California: Arnold for the Senate.

Mngirl… Arnold is rhino and almost as bad as Boxer and Feinstein. We need someone like the California State Senator Tom McClintock. He’s California’s only true conservative.
