Just when you thought Al Gore’s head couldn’t get any bigger, Part II

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 11, 2007 02:07 PM

Update 9:50am Eastern 10/12. While envirozealots celebrate the Goracle’s coronation, Jim Hoft notes that University of Illinois has just reported that ice cap growth in the Antarctic is at its highest level in recorded history.

And Allahpundit says: “Look on the bright side: after Arafat, Carter, and Iranian marionette Mohammed ElBaradei, the award couldn’t possibly be more degraded.”

Har.

The Czech president speaks some truly inconvenient truths:

Czech President Vaclav Klaus, a rare vocal global- warming sceptic among heads of state, is “somewhat surprised” that former US vice president Al Gore received the Nobel Peace Prize, the president’s spokesman Petr Hajek said in a statement.

“The relationship between his activities and world peace is unclear and indistinct,” the statement said. “It rather seems that Gore’s doubting of basic cornerstones of the current civilization does not contribute to peace.”

Klaus said in a recent speech that environmentalists’ efforts to halt global warming “fatally endanger our freedom and prosperity.”

The Czech president publicly expresses doubt on what scientists, including those participating in the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, also this year’s Nobel Peace Prize laureate, deem very likely - that global warming is caused by humans.

He also said that rising temperatures may not matter enough for governments to throw funds at halting the process.

In a newspaper interview earlier this year, Klaus said that only Al Gore, and not a sane person, would say that mankind is ruining the planet.

Update 8:58am Eastern 10/12. And so it has come to pass

Former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change jointly won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Friday for their efforts to spread awareness of man-made climate change and to lay the foundations for fighting it.

Gore, who won an Academy Award earlier this year for his film on global warming, “An Inconvenient Truth,” had been widely tipped to win the prize.

He said that global warming was not a political issue but a worldwide crisis.

“We face a true planetary emergency. … It is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity,” he said. “It is also our greatest opportunity to lift global consciousness to a higher level.”

The win is also likely add further fuel to a burgeoning movement in the United States for Gore to run for president in 2008, which he has so far said he does not plan to do.

The Nobel Peace Prize citation is here, extolling the IPCC and Gore “for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.”

PJM round-up here.

Flashback…Al Gore: An Inconvenient Story…

***

10/11 2:07pm.

I noted the Nobel Prize buzz around Al Gore last month.

Well, the Big Reveal will take place on Friday, and Gore has canceled on a Babs Boxer fundraiser to travel overseas for the announcement. (Update: Or not? HT - HAHeadlines)

No doubt he’s already purchased carbon offsets for the trip…if he does indeed win the prize.

Don’t forget: You can offset his offsets here!

Isn’t this whole global warming thing an elevation of man’s place in the universe? Man is so powerful he can change the temperature on the earth. Yeah right. In fact, he’s so powerful he can even change it without even knowing he’s doing it. I AlGore will fix it for you though.

The Nobel Peace Prize is “supposed” to be awarded for someone who constributed to the peace of the world. How can Gore win because of what he is saying about global warming? Global warming seems more of a science. Even that the science is flawed. In my opinion, the Nobel Prize Committee should have never nominated him for the prize in the first place. Rush should have won the prize not Gore.

I have to agree with cR that we can’t predict the technological future. A friend of mine predicts that it will be 50 years before fuel cells become cost effective. Still, this takes nothing away from Ertl, who by far got his science research more exact than Gore.

What? Like the prize committee was going to pick Irena Sendler anyway? What did she do that was so great? Save 2500 Jewish kids from the Nazis in Poland? They probably just grew up be Zionist Oppressors anyway. I mean….Gore made a movie.

And so what if the Nazis sentinced her to death for helping the children? Al Gore stood up to… ummm… the oil companies or… somebody.

Democratic Sen. Edward M. Kennedy underwent surgery Friday after doctors discovered a partially blocked artery in his neck during an examination of his back, which was injured in a 1964 airplane crash.

Kennedy, 75, underwent the hourlong procedure on his left carotid artery at Massachusetts General Hospital, his office announced. The operation, performed by Dr. Richard Cambria, the hospital’s chief of vascular surgery, was completed without complications, and the veteran senator from Massachusetts was expected to be released in several days.

All partisanship aside………..we are praying for Senator Kennedy and his family.

    Big Al wins another one.

I think the Nobel Peace prize should go to Marcus Luttrell (of Lone Survivor fame) and his 3 dead Navy Seal teammates for almost single handedly removing an entire Taliban army.

A Taliban elimination would go a lot further to promoting World Peace than An Inconvenient Truth.

Notice that global warming has yet to generate any Nobel science prizes.

For next year, I would like to nominate two German scientists, Gerhard Gerlich & Ralf D. Tscheuschner, for the Nobel Science Prize, for their paper:

Falsification Of The Atmospheric CO2 Greenhouse Effects Within The Frame Of Physics

in which, without any funding from any oil company, they logically, scientficially, and conclusively DISPROVED the “Greenhouse Gas” theory.

I urge anyone and everyone to run your search engines to find this paper and start verifying it.

    Michelle,
I have e-mailed the PDF document to you. Please check your e-mail for the following message:

I am just beside myself. I learned of this when I took my daughter to her high school this morning listening to Laura Ingrahm. I was just sick and livid.

This is just another way of the Left to say, “See? Look what you could have had. Instead of a warmonger like Bush, you could have had this man of peace.”

The Left’s reinventing of Gore has been one of the great mysteries of the American political wars. It has been one of the most disgusting, dishonest…I can’t say enough. But to turn their backs on people who are true instruments of peace for this hoax is something truly unforgivable. To actually reward him for his Stalinistic bullying and hypocritical lifestyle is also unforgivable. They could have rewarded the Polish/American woman who helped Jewish children in WWII, but that would mean that they were not anti-Jew. What about the man working to fight AIDS in Africa? What about the 180 others…even Oprah…who were far more deserving of this award that Algore.

And to listen to the Libs in the media this morning has truly been horrendous. So many of them saying, “No one was more deserving of this award”, well that just shows you were they really put their peace thoughts and efforts. Forget those fighting to end war and hunger. They are not deserving of the award. Give it to the guy who flew there in a hurr and brought his entourage in SUV’s.

    God but I am disgusted.

If you want to ask the Nobel Committee yourself just what they were thinking in tawarding this liar the award and committing this attrocity then go to this site. You can ask them until the 15th of this month. Apparently they are allowing questions. Flood them and tell them just how you feel. Maybe in the future they will stop politicizing this award and return to giving it to true workers for peace.
