Yep James, but you have to admit lgm makes a great troll!

And I, once again, applaud lgm for NOT starting his comments by bashing our hostess!

I said this:

I don’t think anyone here has ever equated Bush hatred with America hatred. What does make us think you hate America is your cheerleading for its enemies and the flawless predictability with which you take the side of her opposition.

lgm, you responded with this:

This site and its relatives often claim that people push global warming as a way to slow down US economic growth and make Americans worse off. I don’t think Krugman ever cheerled for Al Qaeda or Saddam

1) I didn't mention Krugman, I was talking about you.

2) Whether or not you think the sacrifice would be worthwhile, you cannot reasonably dispute that adoption of Gore's wish list would slow US economic growth and make Americans worse off.

3) Nothing in your answer does anything to support your orignal assertion, which was that people here equate hatred of President Bush with hatred of America. Indeed, considering the extreme distaste with which many of us view him that's a really bizarre and illogical thing to believe.

And so, again, you display the extreme difficulty you have in forming, explaining and defending a rationally constructed point of view.

lgm said: Bjorn Lomborg is not a physical scientist

And GORE is?

How about Lord Monckton of Brenchley who has challenged GORE to a debate and GORE refuses? Why? What does GORE fear from a debate on GW? Facts? You betcha!

Your GOD on GW is a joke.

I think Albert Einstein said it best: "Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of truth and knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods."

lgm,
You conveniently argue from generalizations. It's easier...you can actually do it and not even know what you're talking about.

This thread has many points to comment on, but here are just a few:

The fact that fewer than half of published scientists actually endorse man-made global warming, yet he claims there’s a “scientific consensus”?

I would love the sourcing on this. As far as I know, there is exactly one top level climate modeler who does not believe in global warming -- Kerry Emanuel at MIT. Bjorn Lomborg is not a physical scientist, but an economist. His stuff is debunked all over the web (google debunk lomborg for a sample).

I don’t think anyone here has ever equated Bush hatred with America hatred. What does make us think you hate America is your cheerleading for its enemies and the flawless predictability with which you take the side of her opposition.

No lgm, we are not being told why we think Gore is a doofus. We are being told what HE thinks we feel.

We agree: Krugman's opinion of of why you "hate" (disagree with) Gore may not be your actual reason. Krugman would be better off arguing about global warming than trying to psycho-analyze you.

I’d love to see a list of these “wise people”. Let me say ahead of time that an organization that gives a peace prize to the father of modern terrorism does not qualify.

You know the list, groups that you normally would trust until their opinions differ from yours -- the National Academy of Sciences, the Geophysical Union, the Nobel Prize committee, ...

"Now they want to eliminate the EC. They win, EC ok, they lose, EC not ok. Am I missing something?"

Spot on! Liberals have starnge concepts about the EC as well as free speech (Say anything you want as long as I agree.) and taxes (More taxes as long as I don't have to pay them).

With so many conflicts with reason, I still wonder if one has to be mentally imbalanced to be a liberal or if being a faithful liberal makes one mentally unbalanced.

Bjorn Lomborg, who is a scientist. (His view on Global Warming is, he doesn't dispute it, but thinks we're better served by simply adapting to it rather than trying to prevent it.)

Gore told the world in his Academy Award-winning movie to expect 20-foot sea-level rises over this century. He ignores the findings of his Nobel co-winners, who conclude that sea levels will rise between only a half-foot and two feet over this century, with their best expectation being about one foot. That's similar to what the world experienced over the past 150 years.

Likewise, Gore agonizes over the accelerated melting of ice in Greenland and what it means for the planet, but overlooks the IPCC's conclusion that, if sustained, the current rate of melting would add just 3 inches to the sea-level rise by the end of the century. Gore also takes no notice of research showing that Greenland's temperatures were higher in 1941 than they are today.

The politician-turned-moviemaker loses sleep over a predicted rise in heat-related deaths. There's another side of the story that's inconvenient to mention: rising temperatures will reduce the number of cold spells, which are a much bigger killer than heat. The best study shows that by 2050, heat will claim 400,000 more lives, but 1.8 million fewer will die because of cold. Indeed, according to the first complete survey of the economic effects of climate change for the world, global warming will actually save lives.

Also go over to Power and Control blog and follow M. Simon's links on Climate Science. He's concluded that the Climate Scientists are cooking the books, based on the article he's linked to.
Errors covertly corrected by the I.P.C.C. after publication and Uncorrected Errors by Al Gore
By
Lord Monckton of Brenchley
March 2007

By far the most damning evidence of all that global warming is caused by leftist politicians.

From the report:

Gore says 48 Nobel-laureate scientists accused President Bush of distorting science, but omits that the scientists were members of a political group set up to promote a Democrat presidential candidate. (Page 9 just above "References")

Help me here, people. I seem to recall that none of the democrats were unhappy with the Electoral College when Slick Willie won twice with less than 45% of the popular vote. Now they want to eliminate the EC. They win, EC ok, they lose, EC not ok. Am I missing something?

No, you're not.

I recall that in 2000, shortly before their "October Surprise" DWI revelation and when Bush was clearly leading in the opinion polls, that it was the Democrats who were gaming different electoral college scenarios to overcome the popular vote.

They only changed their tune when the anticipated election-night circumstances reversed themselves. Then all of a sudden it was, "Hey, hey, ho, ho, the electoral college has got to go."

Again, we are dealing with people for whom everything is a tactical exercise aimed at making other people change their lifestyles to the "correct" liberal model. That's how their 1960s-1970s Chicken Little prognostications about "The Coming Ice Age" could so effortlessly morph into present-day fear-mongering about "Global Warming" - and how they're coming to argue lately that "Global Warming" is going to cause "The Coming Ice Age."

What gets these people out of bed in the morning isn't the sound of an alarm clock, but rather the hope that today - maybe today - the American people will finally let themselves be dictated to by their "superiors" on the left.

Help me here, people. I seem to recall that none of the democrats were unhappy with the Electoral College when Slick Willie won twice with less than 45% of the popular vote. Now they want to eliminate the EC. They win, EC ok, they lose, EC not ok. Am I missing something?

No, you’re not.
