All hail “Bare Trees,” and other Peter Green and Bob Welch era contributions.

(But as with other acts, can you hear “Don’t Stop” from “Rumours” without thinking of Clinton/Gore ‘92? And why does Hannity use bumper music like “Dreams” or Henley’s blatantly anti-Reagan screed “The End of The Innocence.” Someone needs to school him on that…)

(”Cathedral” for me is among CSN’s
“later” stuff. Bought it ’cause my new bride & I figured we’d check out their 1st? “comeback”. Yep, I remember it was called their “comeback” in 1977. Oh, well….)

Anyway, I feel so much of the music from the mid 60s to the early 70s was terrific.
It’s among the few good things, if not best, only good thing, that came out of the disastrous 60s.

(Civil rights was moving along steadily in the 50s – from what I’ve read by the always excellent Thomas Sowell.)

I “came of age” with Buffalo Springfield, Cream, Hendrix, CSN and CSN&Y (first few albums only), Neil Young (first few albums only), Motown when it sounded like Motown, Derrick & the Dominos, Zeppelin, Who;
and a host of bands who started out sounding terrific, but then became what they became, such as Santana, Steppenwolf, Jethro Tull, Moody Blues, Traffic (not “Winwood” and not the mid-90s reunion album), Aerosmith, and Steve Miller Band, to name some.

‘Course, there’s also the one-hit and few-hit wonders.

I manage to enjoy the excellent music and the memories they evoke, while separating my mind from the cultural and societal disaster the 60s ushered in; and from the imbecilic statements of burnt-out clowns.

Fools like David Crosby yet again prove the wisdom of Lincoln’s saying, “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.”

I would probably count CSN among my favorite acts of my adolescence and young adulthood, but it’s getting harder and harder to motivate myself to pull out those CDs when songs like Graham Nash’s “Cathedral” (”so many people have died in the name of Christ that I can’t believe it all”) c.1977 are drowned out in emotional impact for me now by the works of artists like Casting Crowns and Jeremy Camp. It is the truest example to me of how someone in the public eye espousing their anti-American, anti-military sentiment has ruined my taste for music I used to love. This interview sums it all up.

Couldn’t watch the vid–couldn’t stand CSNorY when they were popular.Certainly not intrested in anything he’d have to say now.Don’t understand the point of putting these out of touch people on any TV program.Most people are too young to know who David Crosby is ,and those of us who are old enough to know him don’t care.

I have just had an epiphany. I am going to start my OWN blog and name it “Don’t Drink the Bong Water!” I will reference all the stupid and lame comments and thoughts of our illustrious “entertainers”. Both past and present.
