They have hit rock bottom, and begun to dig…
We haven’t seen a single stock crash like this since Martha got arrested.
In the basement and diggin for more.
Tell us NYT, what does whale crap look like?
Nothing like seeing the demise of the New York Slimes and Washington Com-Post. Hail Michelle Malkin!
Still they won’t change a thing in order to make a profit. That is socialism, they believe they are serving the common good, more important then making a profit…..well their version of serving the common good, not mine. I don’t need the NYT reporting their version of the truth (whatever they decided on today is the truth) remember Jayson Blair. NYT deciding my news consumtion, for my own good. I am a grown up, I will decide what is for my own good. Hint, it isn’t a subscription to the New York Times.
HA! Priceless!
The people have spoken…
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
NOT!
How long before they’re delisted?

Sir,
When you dig your way through to China, please sell all shares.
Thank you.
pwn3d
Just waiting for Soros to buy up all that stock…
Thanks,Michelle…for providing a great schadenfreude fix for the day
They can blame this on us (the internet) if they choose but it’s not for the reasons they think. The reason is because they are being more exposed in the crap untruths they print and are being called out on it. Same goes with these phony transparent Dems.
lol pb,
ya made me look it up.
They’re past digging. They’ve broken out the dynamite.
Looks a lot like the chart for Journal Communications, my local
birdcage liner(oops, can’t have any birds repeating those lies)fishwrap(durn, would waste the fish) paint-catcher.Now, it would seem to me, if I was chairman, that if you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting. Instead of continuing with the poor news reporting, I’d look to changing it, rather than complain. But libs use emotion to steer them, I use logic.
Maybe The Chicago Sun-Times will follow the NYT down the drain…
Nice to see the efficient market at work.
If I may quote my favorite online cartoon character: “New Paper, when it comes to disappointing, you never disappoint.”
This is what I said yesterday when NYT outed the NC jihadist.
On a lighter note ajmontana, if you had to look up pwn3d, then you sure are old, real old like… from baby boomers, may be older than that
Michelle using Bloomberg on her site….now there is no need for CNBC either!
Oh, the irony. The more the NYTs lurches towards the left, the faster the value of the company falls.
siva, 49, and not a gamer, sorry.
How’s the Media Matters stock doing?
/
Michelle, when you are you taking Hot Air public? I want some!
Wish the ad fees were a little less, though; however, thanks for the great traffic I got when I did.
I don’t know which class of company the Times falls under, but here are the delisting procedures (see section 802.01 for the “continued listing” criteria).
siva - 31 - and i had to look it up.
Armigerous #12:
Argh!!
You beat me to the punch!
Her goes, anyway:
To paraphrase Patrick Henry -
If this be Schadenfreude, make the most of it!
I’m surprised they are not saying “See. You want proof of the failing Bush economy that we have been trumpeting for so long? Just look at the price of our stock.”
Oh, the irony…
I think this is a combination of things. Of course the internet and news available from so many sources, ads sales moving to the internet, but socialist running a business has never been a good idea — I think the paper of record is so far to the left it has lost relevance with the majority of readers. Treasonist behavior should not be rewarded - I think it is finally coming to pass.
siva, 30, admittedly I had to look it up as well.
When we are done with the NYT - perhaps the Boston Globe Democrat will follow.
HerE goes, rather.
I, too, had to look up pwn3d.
BTW:
Hey, NYTimes: Couldn’t happen to nicer folks!
Buh-bye!
And, to think that I actually had subscribed to this paper during part of my senior year in high school (class of ‘70), thinking it was the intelligent, mature, sophisticated thing to do.
Oh, well….
Just had a terrible thought:
How long before the NY Times asks for a government bailout?!
Blowing national security secrets and kissing terrorist posteriors just doesn’t pay the bills like it used to, does it?
Ahhh, bite your tounge. OVER MY DEAD BODY.
AJ got pwn3d for not knowing what pwn3d meant!
Not to worry, I had to look it up a year or so ago. 47 and I havn’t aged a day since I am an empty nester.
Aj is the proud pop of a new teenager. I am going to pass along some white hair and save him some time!
I always wanted to “pwn3d” on a topic but, somehow, I forget - LOL. Four teen girls will do that to you!
Organizations like the NY Times and CNN will continue to run at a loss through the 2008 election cycle inorder to promote Hillary and run down her Republican challengers. They figure that her election will guarantee better access to the Presidency and better circulation or viewership. It is likely they will lose the bet on circulation or viewership but regardless they can comfort themselves in having done the right thing.
It’s a vast right-wing conspiracy!!!
What goes around comes around. The Times might have to modify its philosophy of “All the news that fits we print.”
I laugh when I receive the solicitation for subscription in the mail…like I would ever do something stupid like subscribe to the NY Times…Ha!
No offense granite.
That chart is signalling a triple bottom, a very bearish indicator. Kind of like John McCain’s poll numbers.
30 pcs of silver:
None taken.
After all, I was only 16.
What did I know?
Finally a good news story for the week, Sweet Justice!

We live and we learn…well some of us do.
How long before St. Albert condemns the NYT for contributing to global warming via the deforestation of South America, all for the cause of wasting paper nobody buys anymore?
Another thought:
Any bets on if and when George Soros props up the NYT?
Well, you know what they say about rock bottom, right?. You have to admit you have a problem before you can move on to recovery. Problem is, it usually takes a mature adult to be able to do that.
/sarc off
I fear the polarity.
However, aj still has the use of his thumbs.
They are being watched now, by both the Exchange and the SEC.
When they hit $5.00 a share, they’ll get a nice letter reminding them of the listing requirements. When they hit $1.00 a share they will get a relatively short period of time to get out of the basement.
Watch for some financial sleight of hand like a reverse stock split - you end up with less shares than you started with but with less shares out there the value of each share presumably increases.
I haven’t looked at their financials, but it does not sound like they have enough cash or capital yo buy back shares to try to boost the stock price.
I find it very ineresting that any other company experiencing such a drastic a decline in share prices would be battling multiple class action suits by now. I have not seen any against the NYT at this point, but I have not been specifically looking for those either.
I had a parrot, and used to use the NYT in the bottom of the cage. After a year of that, one day I came home from work and said to him, “Wow, where did all this bird poop come from?” and the bird suddenly said, “It’s Bush’s fault, it’s Bush’s fault.” I figured it was the NYT’s fault, so I did the right thing. I gave the NYT the bird.
Implosion… this is clearly an inside job!
Maybe a conservitive could buy the NYT and make it an honest paper again.
I bid $2.00. I know it is a lot but it is a bail out bid!
Any rumors of the death of the NYT are just that rumors.
The reason is that even if the drive the stock into the cellar, there are enough big pocket people who want it for the megaphone for their usage.
If the stock totally tanks, they will take the paper private if necessary.
They throw much more each year into lobbying, political groups and organizations and will not let the Times die.
If they take it private, then they can do full page adds without having to pay for them at all.
Nope it will live on in some form or another.
Even if the DOJ grew a pair and ended up running them out of business, a clone would show up to fill the gap.
I have even seen speculation that is exactly what is occurring.
Some are driving the price of the stock down to make it less costly to take it private.
Standing in a ditch holding the shovel…
CommentGuy:
I would bet you are on to something.
siva - 65 and I did NOT have to look it up!
Watch yer mouth, young’n.
That is hilarious!!! A classic, if I ever saw one!
Stock price in the crapper.Good time to buy…I doubt it.Goodby New York Crimes, you’ll be missed….NOT.
HAHAHAHAHAHA….Die NYT…DIE….but wait, what will I put in the bottom of my bird cages?…damn it…there is a use for that rag after all..maybe they can start a weekly?…that way I’d get to continue getting free bird poop paper from my liberal neighbors…
Hey once it hits the bottom, how about this group buy up the stock, fire the management and make MM the CEO?
I predict a profit within at least 18 months..Who knows-maybe buyout the USA Today in the process?
GSP
Maybe Moveon.org can buy all the full page adds and change the name of the paper to “The Time To Moveon New York”.
Well the subscriptionss are certainly down but what shape are the Ads for the NYT. No business can go on forever like this at a loss. I wonder if the Editors even realize why no reader wants to read so much negative stuff all the time about our nation.
I wonder how low it will have to get before they actually get a clue as to why this is happening. Zero? Probably. They are clueless.
The NYT has been doing the work of our terrorist enemies from the beginning. So overriding is their hatred for Pres. Bush that nothing else in life matters beyond his destruction. Watching the NYT slide toward oblivion has heartened me and revived my belief in the overall decency and intelligence of the American people. Now if only they will complete the last act. Keller, Rich, Dowd et. al. all hold hands and leap from the roof of what has been your place of work.
Couldn’t happen to a more worthy rag.
