The real story:
Air America radio host Randi Rhodes is temporarily off the air, but claims she was brutally attacked near her Manhattan apartment are bogus, her lawyer and a police source said today.
Fellow host Jon Elliott claimed on the liberal radio network that Rhodes had been mugged while walking her dog, Simon, on Sunday night. Elliot, who said Rhodes lost several teeth in the attack, waxed about a possible conspiracy.
“Is this an attempt by the right-wing, hate machine to silence one of our own?” he asked on the air, according to Talking Radio, a blog. “Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we’re winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?”
A police source said Rhodes never filed a report and never claimed to be the victim of a mugging. Cops from Manhattan’s 17th Precinct called her attorney, who told them Rhodes was not a victim of a crime, the source said.
Rhodes’ lawyer told the Daily News she was injured in a fall while walking her dog. He said she’s not sure what happened, and only knows that she fell down and is in a lot of pain. The lawyer said Rhodes expects to be back on the air Thursday. He stressed there is no indication she was targeted or that she was the victim of a “hate crime.”
The nutroots are sorely disappointed. But the truth isn’t likely to stop them from believing that it’s the Reich-wing’s fault.

Newsday: Talk show host apologizes for faulty report of NYC mugging…
Air America released a statement saying that “the reports of a presumed hate crime are unfounded.” Elliott followed that up with a retraction.
“I shouldn’t have speculated based on hearsay that Randi Rhodes had been mugged and that it may have been an attack from a right wing hate machine. I apologize for jumping to conclusions based on an emotional reaction,” he said in a written statement.

I can see why the VRWC would resort to physical attack to silence Rhodes. With her radio show reaching an audience that easily numbers in the dozens she’s a real threat.
If an Air America host falls in the city and no one was listening anyway, has she been silenced?

I was disappointed by this story. From the headline I thought it was about Ozzy’s dead guitar player. That would have been interesting. Who cares about a liberal talk show host?

it sounds like par for the course, and certainly faking an attack upon yourself is not good for the rep, however Michelle, I have to take issue with something here. You assert that now their rep is at the levels of NY Times stock, well frankly their rep was there years ago, and this only reinforces it.
You guys are giving them far too much credit. For the AA guy to even come up with that conspiricy means he has a long arm span, for that was an immense reach. Then, to go and read those comments, to see just how far these idiots went with this conspiricy and just how easily it was believed…wow. Just how many COnservatives do you guys know that go around mugging people anyway? I’d venture to say not many, otherwise Hillary wouldn’t be trying to get felons and people in prison the right to vote.
However, now that the truth came out, there is not a single Lib to be found on the message board. Not a single one. Seems they are completely terrified of the truth and their innate ability to never admit fault or admit they are wrong has sent them scurrying like cockroaches now that the light has come on.
However, once againe, they parade forth with their calls and incitements to violence towards any Conservative. They sit there, decrying this alledged violent act, then spend their time being guilty of everything they are complaining about.
Let’s just imagine for a moment what would happen if Michelle, Rush, Ann or Sean had come on the air, claimed that a Conservative radio host had been attacked by some wild, crazed Liberal in an effort to silence them. What do you think would happen to them? How many protests, cals for their termination and riots in Muslim lands would go on?
Now, what do you think will happen to this idiot who made this claim of violence against some nobody radio host on a failed Liberal network? That’s right, absolutely nothing. There will be no statements on the floor of the Senate, no letters to the parent company calling for his ouster, no one throwing him under the bus…instead they will sit there and blame the Right for making them say what they said.

One thing I found fascinating was the level of profanity used by the visitors to the liberal sites (I don’t make it a habit to lurk on their sites, always feel like a need a shower afterward). Being a retired Air Force Senior NCO I do freely admit to knowing and using a few obscenities in my time on planet earth, but all I can say is WOW!!! I am so glad most conservative sites do not endorse this type of behavior. It just shows the irrational level of emotion overriding the ability for critical thinking armed with facts.

One of my talents is to see things differently than anyone else, so here’s my thought on the whole “tinfoil hat” theory:
If the tinfoil is supposed to keep out frequencies that affect brainwaves, wouldn’t it keep the brainwaves IN?

In all seriousness, if she was mugged, the perp should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. No Grace Kelly myself, I understand being klutzy (I once sprained my ankle walking down the hallway at work…that’s it, just walking), and it sucks to fall in a public place and get hurt.

From my experience in law enforcement the most likely scenario is she was involved in domestic violence in her own or someone elses apartment. Whether a male or female lover is not known. The truth will come out sooner or later as there is too much scrutiny to hide it. The next likely cause was being intoxicated on alcohol or drugs. why else make up a phony story? Michelle we love you. Rush Limbaugh referenced you positively today on his program in the same light as himself of being blamed by the loons of the left for some reason, I believe over the SCHIP issue. Re: Hate crimes. Some states, I believe, list political affiliation as a protected class for hate crime purposes, but not New York. The attorney’s use of that term as inaccurate at best, misleading at worst.
But, boy, it sure is stupid to throw out reckless speculation about possible motivations to an incident, isn’t it? Could turn out to be totally wrong, and then you just end up looking silly and/or like a conspiracy nut.

In the Columbia incident people started speculating that it may be some kind of inside job after the administration there began acting in a very suspicious manner. Another liberal joke. Have you ever noticed that libs cannot write/speak properly? Seems every time I read their posts, it’s always full of cursing. It shows that they cannot form proper adjectives or put their thoughts properly down. It shows to me their ignorance. They are either poorly educated or they try to impress me with that language. It only shows to me that they cannot express themselves so they use cursing. Such people I’ve learned to ignore and walk away.

I went on Kos and read more about this and honestly, On My Soapbox is correct; I’ve never seen such language as that on this site or on any other “conservative” sites. It’s frightening really. I used to teach in the public schools and while I’ll admit to typing too fast and not hitting the “preview” key a few times, I do know how to speak correctly and write correctly. When I used to grade some of my US History papers I would add grammar suggestions, etc., well I got called on the carpet for it and was told I was not an English teacher and that correcting grammar was not my job. It appears these “Kos Kids” were not well served by their teachers while in school, be they public or private.

I certainly appreciate the lack of profanity here and at other conservative sites. It’s a welcome change from every liberal site I’ve ever visited. It’s a necessary evil, visting these sleazy sites to better understand who we’re dealing with. I agree with the person who mentioned feeling the need to shower after visiting these liberal sites.

Accidentally found this creep on the radio one Saturday afternoon and she was harping about how the American fighter and Israel had combined to MURDER MILLIONS of innocent muslims over the years. I would not wish anything bad on her but, could it be karma kicking in after all of her ugly, hate filled, oliver stone/john carpenter styled treasonous lying over the years ? It’s kinda like when my 11 year old said he’d call the cops if I touched him. Well, all I can say is, I’m still here, and yes, he did get “touched”. Sometimes justice is unavoidable.

Their rants do support what I’ve found for a long time: the more one has to use cursing, profanity, bathroom words, scatological references, etc; invariably the less meaningful what one has to say is.
Besides in debates and conversation, this obtains in the arts.
Must good art be pornographic?
Must comedians curse, or depend on sexual illustrations (not having the ability to suggest innuendos or double entendres, which are by far more amusing and clever)?
Got news for them: if their material were actually funny, it wouln’t have to be sexually explicit, nor full of scatological terms, etc, etc.
How much of today’s “comedy” is actually as clever and hilarious as the best of Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, The Stooges (with Curly, ‘course), Laurel & Hardy, Bill Cosby, or Bob Newhart?
