   The once harshest critic of UN, represented US and took it by storm. Unmindful of the fact he is meddling with two of the closest US allies,he even scuttled India’s plans when she was negotiating with Israel for arms purchase and when she was lobbying for THE SEAT in UN. There will always be mixed responses for his strong-arm tactics.

    What the rest of the world thinks about us. I think that is a legitimate concern. Let’s see, we cut and run in Vietnam despite winning every single major battle, leaving millions of people to die or suffer as a result of the ensuing chaos created by that power vacuum. We bullied Rhodesia under Carter to accepting a terrorist as their new leader, who has now ruled Zimbabwe to ruin (an inflation rate of over 7000% and a shift from a net food producer to a starving nation). Rather than putting a stop to Islamic fundamentalism in its infancy, we cowered from confronting the threat in 1979 and now have a global terror cooperative to deal with. In the first Gulf war, we convinced Iraqui citizens to stand up against Saddam promising our support to rid Iraq of Saddam, only to stop short of eliminating the problem then and there to deal with another day. They see a country that publically resolves to fight terror at every turn, yet supplicates itself to misguided politically correct practices that only strengthens and emboldens those that wish to destroy us. And now, after destabilizing Iraq, we are seriously considering pulling out of the region, forgetting that it took from 1776 to 1789 for our new nation to adopt a constitution.

    And we are concerned what the rest of the world thinks of us? They have to think that we cannot be counted on to keep our word and that our intervention only leads to genocide and larger problems in the end due to our lack of honor and resolve.

    Ironic that Bolton was one of those people who would restore that honor and resolve, and restore our reputation as a nation that did not cower before third world despots nor tremble before the threats of terror.

    We are a sovereign nation. We are the last, best hope for liberty in this world. We need to remember that, and remember what it took in terms of sacrifice and resolve to turn a puny collection of 13 small colonies into a force to be reckoned with as a champion for freedom and liberty.

    I do like the way the man thinks. He understands there are other people out there working tirelessly to wipe our country and with it Western Civilization from the map. His request that we look at national security issues along with domestic issues in the upcoming election is extremely sound advice. Too bad the Senate confirmation process has been reduced to the lowest common denominator. He is right that it will drive the most qualified people from seeking public service. I don’t think they could pay me enough to go through that vipers nest.

    Early in the Bush administration, the US was about to conclude negotiations with North Korea (Kim Jong Il) to further secure the Clinton agreements that would keep North Korea from building a nuclear weapon. The day before, Bolton publically insulted Kim Jong Il. The predictable result (which must have been the desired result) was North Korea pulling out of talks and restarting its nuclear program. As a direct result, they now have functioning nuclear weapons. Heckuvajob!

    It was the “Clinton agreements” that allowed the tiny tyrant to build his nuclear operation. We agreed, he didn’t. And they had functioning nuclear weapons before Clinton left office.

    Nork would have kept doing what they were doing regardless of any agreement and regardless of any statement made by anyone. It is seriously delusional to believe Kim would have honored any agreement that kept him from his nuclear goal. I for one have been to Korea and got a good first hand glimpse of what the North is like.

    The DMZ there is one of the THE most dangerous places on Earth. To them, the Korean War never ended (technically it did not), and they have been constantly preparing for the day when they finish the war against the South and the USA. They have tunnels that can transport entire batallions just waiting to break open to the South. Underground air bases, underground support bases, underground everything. North Korea is constantly ready for the call that will launch them into war and glory.

    Kim tells his people that he is a god, born on some sacred mountain. He wins any game he plays there, be it chess, soccer, or other game of skill, announcing it is his god like power that allows him to win over mere mortals. His people are starving, and dissent earns you a free trip to a reeducation camp - if you are lucky. And since he is a god, his people believe that any war with the US will be won by the North Koreans.

    I just cannot see how anyone who knows anything about North Korea would believe a word they said. After all, we are mere mortals and Kim is a god.
