Stark’s comments demonstrate what a shame it is when first cousins marry.
What amazes me is that the KOS Sacks continue to cry that they Dems were for SCHIP and the Republicans were against it. I guess the subtlety of favoring something in its present form versus wildly expanding the program is lost on these people.

O/T — Shattered Glass, the movie about Stephen Glass’ serial fabrications in 27 of 41 of his articles published in The New Republic, is playing now on Independent Film Channel and will replay again at 1:15 a.m. Coincidentally, my wife rented it and we watched it last night (no baseball).
It is stunning how TNR has learned nothing. The DVD included commentary by the director and by Chuck Lane, who replaced Michael Kelly as editor. Most of the commentary dealt with how the movie script was pieced together from actual events and transcripts of recorded conversations. Considering how painful it must have been for Lane who confronted and fired Glass, they went to great lengths to detail the sources for everything and to describe amalgams of events and characters.
It doesn’t present a very flattering picture of TNR then, and given its history and the lessons that should have been learned, even less flattering today. Interestingly, one of the checks that broke down was that Glass had a romantic relationship with a co-worker who had approval authority over his work and he built similar, non-romantic relationships with other fact checkers.

I don’t think a shower, enema or peroxide bath can eradicate the stench and vileness of the DailyMess crowd. Like small children exploring their bodily functions, these excrement-spreading ninnies revel in their mess, gleefully manipulating matter to cover every square inch of territory so they can stand back and proudly admire their puerile work.
I follow a lot of blogs as some of you know and one thing I have been picking up from the far left over the last month is their rabid hate for what they see as lack of progress by the Dems (and thus probably part of the reason they are polling near 11%).
Some are openly speculating that they kissed up to the nutroots to jump start funding and votes and volunteers to gain the majority but now feel that since the dems are picking up K street money they feel that the dems will say thank you very much and don’t let the screen door hit you on the way out.

I am having serious doubts that liberals/progressives are even capable of feeling shame anymore. They just don’t seem to know right from wrong as Congressman Stark so outrageously demonstrated in his outburst. They have justified themselves for so long that they believe their own lies. No guilt. No shame. No remorse. No problem. Yet, they promise to have the most ethical congress ever! And they wonder why they are mocked, made fun of, scorned, and just flat out laughed at. The sad thing is that they will indeed reap the whirlwind because they have sown the wind. One blogger called that principle “blow back”. The liberals are indeed going to experience a severe blow back. And as they say in Texas, “it ain’t gonna be none too nice.”

What’s so pathetic about today’s vote is the stunning inability of the Stupid Party to properly articulate a response to the Dems time-tested “it’s for the CHILDREN” BS. The pathetic White House and GOP leadership came out and spewed the platitudes about the need to “work together” with the Dems who have no interest in showing the slightest comity with them.
Here’s what they SHOULD be saying, but are too spineless, feckless and worthless to say: “President Bush and the Republicans in Congress want to help America’s truly needy children get health insurance coverage, but the Democrats decided that it was more important to balloon the size of government and take another step toward placing the world’s finest health care system under the control of lawyers and politicians, not patients and doctors. To stand idly by and allow partisan power plays to interfere with helping those in need would be wrong. We hope the Democrats will take this opportunity to set aside their designs on power and start working in a bipartisan fashion to help the children and not their special interest cronies.”

Augustine, DirkBelig (and others). You are correct, they are mostly a group of self interested politicians. They call themselves Republicans because even though they are first interested in power (instead of the good of country), they still find the other party repulsive (thankfully). RINO does in fact accurately describe far far too many of them. Many have no governing philosophy other than only do what I have to so I can stay in office.
Term limits would help as it would ?force? them to have an agenda bigger than staying in office.
A known tactic of people who want to expand government is to follow this route:
1. Demand a large budget increase; then
2. When the opposition proposes a smaller increase, call it a “budget cut.”
Real chutzpah adds a third step, which is to claim that your opponents want to “kill the program” or deny some essential service to “The Children”(TM).
Stark showing up on KOS for some high-fives is no surprise; as Michelle and others have observed in different ways, the inmates are running the asylum that the Democrat Party has become.
Another aspect of Stark’s unprofessionalism and boorishness - and how the left has either said nothing or embraced him - is how when they get together the conversation of lefties so often turns to who or what makes them angry, or who or what they hate.
Not just “disagree with” or “have a different opinion from.” Hate. Of all the things they could share as a community, that they choose anger and hatred says something.

Today in the Augusta Chronicle there was a letter to the editor by some Kooky Kos Kid saying that it’s a terrible thing for parents to raise their children and then tell them joining the military is a good thing and then to go off and kill innocents and how they hate the children as well for their SCHIP votes. These people frighten me because they also have children. Anyway, they haven’t grown up and live in a Sesame Street world. I did call Stark’s office this morning in DC. Took a few tries as it was busy and they were not pleasant but not too rude either and also told me that they had other calls to take as they told someone else here yesterday.
Again, the language of these people is truly sad.

Democrats swept the last election;
Self-identified Democrats have increased to around 35% of the population while self-indentified Republicans have fallen to around 28%;
Almost 70% of all money raised for the 2008 election has gone to Democrats;
The vast majority of pundits, pollsters, and oddsmakers predict not only a Democratic takeover of the White House but also gains in the House and Senate.
So if your statement is true it would also hold true that the moderate left is the center of the country and the moderate right is on the far right fringe of the country.

This begs a question. I have seen these vile, hate filled remarks towards conservatives many times in many blogs and comment sections and it makes me wonder, where do the people who spew this stuff work?
1) Are they in jobs where all they are only in contact with are like minded people and have no idea how disgusting this sounds.
2) Are they in jobs where they are in contact with conservatives and are actually sitting there seething with hatred but bite their tongues so they don’t lose their jobs?
3) Are they in jobs where they are in contact with a small number of conservatives but the conservatives don’t speak up due to being small in number.
Is there another alternative I am missing?

Can you enlighten us at to the lies about the Frosts? Were they not already on SCHIP? Did they not own all those vehicles? Did they not live in that house? Did they not own that commercial property?
Since I prefer to make judgement on correct facts, which parts were lies? I understand that there were some discrepancies in the income of the family and I believe that the discrepancy was pointed out on this site (otherwise I wouldn’t know about it). But since they were already on SCHIP under the current guidelines, they must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
So can you please give us the correct information?
Reid, Harkin, Boxer, Kennedy etc, fill in the blank with the name of most any member of the Democratic Party of Pathological Behavior and you will get the same hateful vacuous bile as presented by Stark.

Sure. The original McConnell email said that they paid 20k for each one of their kids for school for one. The email made hints that their $45k income wasn’t believeable.
That false email rang in the echo chamber here and at freeper type sites, and the widly speculative “icwhatudo” post magically appeared, and then MM’s drive by past the Frosts house, in her poor attempt at journalism.
All the speculation here was brought into being by that McConnell email.

McConnel’s aide was summarizing what the blogosphere had found out. The Freeper posted his info on 10/6. The email wasn’t sent to the press until 10/11.
