Congrats, Louisiana, on realizing that the only way to rid yourself of the feculent corruption was to free yourself from the liars who kept returning it upon you. Hopefully, the rest of this nation can learn your lesson before November 2008.

I don’t share Mr. Jindal’s political views, but if he’s able to clean up the mess that is New Orleans, and also turn LA around as a state, I’ll sure as hell give him mad respect. He’s pretty young, and if he’s successful in LA, I bet we’ll see him in a bid for the White House down the road some day. Race seems to matter less and less every year, and I’ve noticed attitudes change since I’ve been alive(I’m the first in my family born post Jim Crow), so that’s a beautiful thing.

There will always be racist pieces of trash in our society, but they are in the minority. People like Jindal don’t pay attention to labels and refuse to be victimized. Good for him.

Hope the media finally get off the obsession with race.

To be accurate: To the best of my recollection, I remember learning in school ~40 years ago or so that the Indians of India are Caucasians (part of the Indo-European, or Indo-Iranian group), that had originally come out of Eurasia/Central Asia.

Yes, many of them can be rather dark -as dark as “Africans”.

So?

Tiger Woods is mostly Oriental (“Asian” – ‘course, the term “Asian” raises the question of what exactly the Iranians, Pakistanis, Indians, Turkish peoples, and Afghanis are, does it not?); and is actually more “white” than “black”.

So what?

It should not be made an issue.

Tiger himself has referred to his raical makeup as “Cablinasian”, in order to show the silliness of pigeoholing him into a racial group; and has asked that he be considered as a man, not as a representative of an ethnic or racial group.

Ever seen how light some folks of African heritage are?

Ever seen how some “Asians” (Orientals) are quite dark; and on the other hand that many have a skin tone exactly matching that of very many Caucasians?

Ever notice just how dark many people of Mediterranean heritage (as is my heritage) can get?

Again, I’ll say, “So what?”

To state the very obvious: We are all so overwhelmingly more alike than we are different.
