Paso Robles post office update: Soldier photo tribute restored
You know my “What the hell?” story of the day earlier this afternoon?
Well, the decision has been reversed:
Photos of military personnel were back up on the wall at the Paso Robles Post Office on Monday morning, under the order of the deputy postmaster general.
The post office received the news Monday morning that they could replace the photos, clerks there said.
Good.

I’m glad to see they did the right thing. Now, how long will it take the nutroots to blame the L.A. fires on President Bush? Arnold just ordered the gaurd to the front of the line, so you know we’re going to get “they couldn’t fight the fire because they didn’t have enough gaurd members do to the war.”
Dollar says before night time.
Outstanding.
Great job Michelle! (I would bet this is because of all the attention this story received)
For a change!
Now if we can just get the congress to do the same thing i.e. the obvious!
Okay, I take back all the mean stuff I said about Paso Robles and the USPS. You guys kick ass!!!!
Soap is keeping his dollar!
Keep shining that spotlight Michelle!
Somewhere a troop hating Moonbat is crying
Why am I smiling so much at that thought ?
The USPS response to my email earlier today.
The soldiers’ photos are back in place at the Paso Robles Post Office.
We understand that the Postal Service occupies a unique position in most communities and so when there’s a great expression of support for taking an action, we think it prudent to relax our guidelines and meet the overwhelming wish of the community.
The U.S. Postal Service has a long history of supporting our men and women in the military. Many Post Offices across the country are named after fallen soldiers. We have publicly honored veterans through the issuance of many commemorative postage stamps over the years. Currently, the Purple Heart stamp is available honoring those who have served and sacrificed for our nation.

Thank God.
If it’s a woman, I love her. If not, he Rocks!
It never ceases to amaze me that one ignorant and discontented liberal can create such chaos. This is the problem with political correctness. ( Just look at Georgia. Because of environmentalist wackos and their concern over some supposedly endangered mussel, the State is literally running out of water.)
Ah, somebody must have found the common sense. Too often it’s neglected, misplaced or completely freaking ignored. Today it’s more uncommon than common, sadly.
There is absolutely no reason one ignorant and discontented conservative with some time on his hands could not gum up the works of the socialist machine just as well.
And just imagine what a well-informed, pleasant, and determined conservative could accomplish?
If one conservative “complains”, the complaint is ignored. If one liberal “complains”, the complaint is “rectified”.
It takes more than one conservative to kick out political correctness, even then it doesn’t always work. Liberals do not understand there is no right not to be offended.
Bunches
Paso was such a very nice little town when I worked there for about 2 + years. Now it also is controlled by the enemy with in. very sad to hear.
I bet is the anti-war nut who complained was not even from the area and was just passing through and stopped there.
Glad the reversed it.
Ohhhh they replaced the photos, good, glad to see common sense prevail.
Hooray !
..but scary and sad that such pictures would ever be taken down.
PC is for cowards, spineless fools and libwals.
Oh. Wait. They are one in the same.
Sorry.
My bad.
Isn’t the post office where they post photos of the FBI’s 10 most wanted? (I could be wrong on that, maybe its the local police department?)
The Deputy General has a good point, lots of new post offices being named after Soldiers. What do the moonbats do then, buy their stamps at the bank?
abinitioinfinitum–
Paso Robles is still a great little town and it’s in one of the nicest parts of California. It’s getting a little winey and pricey as rich folks retire there from Silicon Valley and LA, but I’d actually recommend it as a great stop for anyone coming out to the west coast. This incident aside (which you’ll note was quickly corrected), it’s not too moonbatty and is california in a good way–relaxed, pleasant, classy.
If you like wine but aren’t super pretentious about it, it’s a great place to do drive around and do some tasting. The scenery’s nice, and you’re not far from Hearst Castle and Big Sur. There’s a pretty good barbecue place in town off the 101 as well–nothing that I would encourage a visitng Texan or Okie to stop for but manna from heaven if you are marooned out here.
I have visited the “central coast” several times. One of the most pro USA / proud displays of our military / respect for US service men is at the Tobin James winery outside of El Paso De Los Robles (Paso Robles)on 46 east. Don’t be fooled, this is a conservative California stronghold. God bless SLO County!
There are a lot of veterans working for the USPS. I’m sure they let the morons in the district office know exactly what they thought of that idiotic decision. Let’s see….. a loss of “productivity” vs one pissed off moonbat? I guarantee the moonbat will lose.
Hey, you America haters. What is it about NEVER AGAIN do you not understand?
There are a lot more of us America Lovers that will stand againt you as you have seen in this matter.
You are not going to win this time around. Get that through your thick skulls
The person who made the complaint and the person who specifically ordered the signs taken down should be identified.
The “light of day” is the best disenfectant there is for the American-hating left among us.
The cure for “political correctness” is transparency, especially when those who practice it do it in the dark of night.
Our troops deserve so much more than this. However, I am glad to see that we are holding the line here at home. Plenty more to do but this goes in the win column!
A sensible guideline, really. Ban it all, and then relax then ban for those items the local community greatly supports.
A USPS policy that doesn’t make my mind hurt. I’m shocked!
I can’t even believe this was an issue to begin with! But I’m thrilled they reversed it and the town so overwhelmingly demanded it.
Wonderful! We must remember that, in any large bureaucracy, someone will over-react to complaints. I do, however, agree that liberal, PC complaints seem to get immediate action but, that is because federal employees are subjected to large amounts of PC propaganda. . . errr, training.
Fox and Friends picked up on this one this morning and reported that the post office did indeed put the photos back up after the community complained that they were taken down. I guess the community is allowed to post community-based stuff in the post office and this qualitified under THAT regulation.

You are so very wrong. Paso Robles is a very patriotic town that supports its local military installations and the troops that live there.
You should put the blame on the ONE idiot that complained and the moron(s) at the Post Office and not blame an entire area.
My understanding is that it wasn’t the local post office that caved to the liberal (and again to the overwhelming backlash from the rest of us), it was the higher ups.
As they say, the closer to Washington one gets, the further detached one is from the rest of the country (and reality it seems).
Way to go folks, we won one.

I got the same e-mail message from my complaint. And I was not kind in my comments. Not foul but not kind.
Yeah, and it’s really bad when it takes beating your fists on the table, stomping your feet, and screaming at the top of your lungs just to muster up a little common sense!
Great News. It’s good to hear that someone in government has seen fit to do what is RIGHT instead of what is Politically Correct.aj,good call on the deputy postmaster general–what a rarity- a beaurocrat with a spine. We sure could use a Kevin McCarthy here in Murthaland. The weasel(Murtha)didn’t even have the Malkins to vote for or against censuring Pete Stark Raving Mad.
Thank God they came to their senses. I almost swore off Paso Robles wine!
Warning to all those who “loath the military” - CA is the “sleeping giant” and there are those who have been silent but will be silent no more.
