Sounds like one of my pet peeves: an administrative policy being used as a substitute for clear thinking.

Not to say that policies are necessarily ridiculous, but when you let bureaucratic hacks and lawyers into the policy-making process, there is little or no check on their pettifogging micromanagement of the lives, behaviors and activities of the people subject to their dictates.

One need only look at “zero tolerance” as an excuse for suspending squirtgun-drawing kindergarteners to see where it can go.

just got a call from a friend who w*rks in Paso Robles:

they were told today that the pictures could be put back up.

When the issue came to the attention of the regional postal center, it asked that Paso Robles Postmaster Mike Milby and his staff remove the display because it violated a regulation against displays of nonpostal business material at any U.S. post office.

Well, since you cannot display non-postal business material at a Post Office, too bad we could not get pictures of the troops, slap a stamp on the back of them, mail them to that post office, and mark them “Postal Business Material, Please Display”

A stamp is postal business material, is it not?

The Postal Official along with the complainer needs to be publicly identified.

The Postal Official needs to be fired for disgracing the Postal Service. But, most of all he needs to be fired for the attempt to disgrace all those serving in the Military and their families.

Also, he needs to be denied employment at any level of Government. If he wants to be an AMERICA HATER then let him work for one of the AMERICA HATING orgainzations.

It was fine during WWII……

This local post office used to have a wall with pictures of local soldiers on it. Not any longer.

But a spokesperson for the United States Post Office says regulations specify that only official postal announcements and other government notices can…

Okay. I can see keeping the criminal pictures up as they are from a Government agency. The pictures of missing children are usually not from government agencies so no matter how you look at their logic (or regulations), that are still full of whale sized crud!

I wonder if that post office has a wanted picture of OBL up or not. I think the USPS should make stamps out of the soldiers. Then we could mail all the nutroots a letter with that stamp.

Not only does my local post office have pictures drawn and colored by the local school children up (changed for each change in holiday/season), but we also have a community bullitin board with announcements and ads (along with the wanted posters).

No complaints though. But then again, I live in Wyoming (not going to say which town since there may be a D.C. bureaurat(Not a typo) reading this.

And we like it just as it is.

Wouldn’t it be great for a bunch of patriots to bring photos of local soldiers serving in Iraq to that wrongheaded post office, post them on that bulletin board, and demand that they be arrested for doing so. Let’s fill up the jails with patriots until the stupidity of this treasonous policy is refuted.

I hate anti-war protestors, I really do. I hate their psueopatriotism because they say they’re very patriotic because they diss the troops who are sheeple, or killers, or whatever adjective they have come up with. I question their sanity and their patriotism. I smell a rat as well.
Again, I can’t stress this enough-I despise the anti-war left, I question their patriotism and wish they’d all move to Cuba.
