DREAM Act update

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 24, 2007 02:21 PM

My liveblogging post is here for those who missed it.

Thanks to all who lit up the Capitol switchboard and beat back another shamnesty attempt. Stay vigilant. They’re relentless.

Here’s the roll.

And thanks to reader Greg for today’s shamnesty photoshop of the day:

    Omsb - great line.

MM - thank you dear lady for helping us keep vigilant on these elected turn coats. I follow a lot of blogs and can tell you with no reservations, this site and HotAir is the most current about critical issues and how we can get involved. Every day or so I’m happy to tell someone that is discussing a story or headline that I saw it days ago…& they should log on the two sites as well.

    Thank GOD!

And many thanks to Michelle, and everyone who called/faxed and emailed.
Here is the crapweasel GOP list:
    Bennett- Utah
    Brownback- Kansas (good-bye!)
    Coleman-MN
    Collins- ME
Craig- ID (Mr. Wide Stance) Please exit
    Hagel-NE
    Hatch-Utah
    Hutchinson- TX
    Lott- Mississippi
    Lugar- IN
    Martinez-FL
    Snowe- ME

Many of their YEA votes were expected, as they are the RINO’s of the Senate. McCain did not vote.

Hatch helped cook up the DREAM Act so he and Bennett are no surprise for Utah.

Mel “Amnesty” Martinez is no surprise for Florida (say good-bye, Mel, and thank you for leaving the GOP chair).

Snow, Brownback, Collins,Coleman, Hagel and Lugar are no surprise. I am a little surprised at Hutchinson.

Toupee Lott has shown his true colors for amnesty and the people of Mississipi will not forget this. I thought I read on NumbersUSA that he was against the Dream Act??? So the focus was on Sen. Cochran of Miss who voted against this travesty.

I feel sure they will try again. So keep calling, folks, and don’t let your guard down. And keep praying that our country will survive the Democrats!

Zippy_Slug - rumors are rampant in TX about running Kay Bailey for governor. Get those e-mails out to her office and also the Texas Republican Committee that you’ll not ever again support her, nor anyone she endorses, due to her lack in judgement. Granted, Cornyn has his own agenda and I’m not trusting him either.

The MSM keeps talking about the Dems out fund-raising the Repubs. It hasn’t dawned on those idiots at the Repubs National Committee that people have closed their wallets due to their support of the Bush amnesty and now the rogues that voted yea for this. Conservatives are quiet and for the most part don’t kick up a lot of fuss. Time we proved them wrong.

The cloture tally on DREAM was bad news. Only 36 Rs voted against cloture. It takes 41 to stop the bill, of course. This means the fate of the DREAM Act is up to the Ds who voted No on cloture, and other Ds who might vote No if the heat is on, but voted Yes today.
PLEASE don’t forget to raise the roof with Ds on amnesty, no matter how they voted today.
As to the Rs, some of today’s No votes were from pro-amnesty Senators (Specter), or soft votes. So, while the result was good, the tally composition was bad. Durbin will be happily planning his next run at a huge amnesty that will raise tuitions for everybody; discriminate against non-illegal students; create a new multibillion dollar spending program; pull in huge numbers of relatives; and — probably worst of all — establish a NEW magnet for mass illegal border crossing.

Here is what the Senate GOP has learned from the amnesty catastrophe earlier this year: nothing, zero, zip, nada, zilchmo, zed, nil. Viz:
If you take today’s DREAM Act cloture tally (36 Rs voting NO) and remove obvious RINOs, squishes, and soft votes, the GOP anti-amnesty tally is what it was before the public exploded over Bush-Kennedy Shamnesty: about 30 GOP Senators want a border. Nothing has changed. Unbelievable.
So, as of today, well above one-half the Senate, including appx 1/3 of Rs, is pro-amnesty, stone deaf, in hock to big business and/or PC media, and couldn’t care less what the public demands: “Border first. Fix the border. Crack down on employers. Now. No amnesty. No reward for law-breaking.”

I could tell from the email response I got from KBH that she would probably dissapoint me with her vote and she did. She doesn’t deserve to be our senator or govenor. I wrote her the first time the comprehensive amnesty bill came up and told her I would never vote for anyone that supported any type of amnesty for illegal aliens. I will not vote for her for any office. I will email her tomorrow to tell her that and will also write Cornyn and thank him for his vote even though I don’t fully trust him either. It is a disgrace that we have such spineless and self-serving politicians. I always tell the people I know how our politicians vote and try to get them involved. It is sad to see so many of my fellow Americans complacencent about what goes on in Washington.
