What goes around comes around. I am enraged by the lack of respect being shown to our military personnel, especially those who make the ultimate sacrifice.
Yes , somethings should transcend political statements and this one. God Bless our brave soldiers and their families everywhere.
I had no idea how despicable this group’s tactics are. If Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder was my father, my brother, my son, my cousin, or even a dear friend…I honestly don’t know how I would react if this happened right in front of me. Mr. Snyder is a much better man than I am.
Another group of people who should be dragged into the street, tortured, then left to rot.
When I finish boot, and AIT, and go active…
When I ship over seas, and should I die there, in service to my country…
I intend to leave money set aside to hire goons to beat the crap out of these bastards if they show up to my funeral.

Protesting at a funeral is an enormous intrusion. These gutless jerks should be protesting the living - but, then again, those soldiers might fight back.

I second Jade’s post. Thank you sir. I hope the father in the story gets every penny that church has and every dollar Soros has for an extra token. Then all the money the dems raise to run for President. Our troops deserve the very best.

In all seriousness folks, don’t thank me. At least not the just yet. Thank those currently in uniform, be they cops, firefighters, Army, Navy, Marines or Airforce.
Until I’m standing in formation on graduation day, I’m just a wanna-be.
These people are one of the two reasons I ride with the Patriot Guard Riders. The other is to show honor and respect for the heroes who gave their all so that we may live free.
Their vile and contemptuous behavior is repugnent and unacceptable. They dishonor my God and I believe that one day they will be banished to a special place in Hell. They are evil. They are not Christians.
They make me sick. They may one day cause me to suffer my first criminal arrest because I am afraid that I will not be able to stand idly by while they disrespect the friends and family of our fallen heroes.
Having attended a military funeral of a brave Marine that was blown up by an IED in Iraq, I am surprised by the restraint of those attending the funerals also attended by these people. I am surprised that it hasn’t come to blows by now.
Had I seen these protesters at the funeral I attended, I would have become violent. Then, I have not been trained to exhibit restraint in the face of the enemy.

When I saw the word “riders” (Patriot Riders) I thought horses and riders. Wouldn’t it be great if Motorcylists and horsemen and horsewomen from across the nation could organize and stand for our troops.
Perhaps it could start at West Point, since the Academy still has an equestrian team.

swj, if I can do it, you can do it. Volunteer to carry the SAW as much as you can, especially on ruck marches. Best way to feel ‘hoo-ah’ that I know of, at least in basic.
Back on topic, Fred and his crazy nutjobs were at a military funeral here in my town. They were outnumbered and kept away by the Patriot Riders. God bless the military, our fallen heroes, and the Patriot Riders! I usually am able to control my vitriol, but if Fred would have aimed just a little bit better when he pulled the trigger to kill himself, we wouldn’t be having this problem right now.
There isn’t anything remotely Christian about their antics. Disrupting the funeral service for one of our fallen in the name of homosexuality is beyond the pale.
I second everyone who said, they wouldn’t be able to restrain themselves. This is just too much. Let this man bury his child in peace.

Let’s see now….this “church” protesting Folsom Street Fair. Mob vs. mob. Sounds interesting. Can I put that on pay-per-view and make a few shekels out of it? Capitalist that I am, I’d certainly want to use a solid portion of the proceeds to fund the patriot riders.
In all seriousness, though, there is no place in the debate for jerks like this. Sin is sin is sin. Death is the by-product of sin. “Tolerance” of homosexuality on the part of this nation is not the problem, and this “pastor” is using a twisted application of Scripture to get his point across.
If he was really concerned about this nation, he would direct his efforts — and those in his congregation — to helping sinners overcome through the Savior’s grace and mercy.
I’ll shut up — for now.

Watergate persona turned evangelist Chuck Colson (also a former Marine officer) reminds us of how Protestant theologian John Calvin described soldiers:
… John Calvin called the soldier an “agent of God’s love” because “restraining evil out of love for neighbor is an imitation of God’s restraining evil out of love for His creatures.”
We are blessed that so many fine men and women are willing to wield the sword on our behalf in this country. But are we, in turn, willing to respect and honor those sacrificing for us? And if not, can we blame them if one day they decide to lay down their arms?
What kind of a world would this be if that happened? We would have a world where evil reigned unchecked by justice, and where the strong would be free to prey on the weak.
If we want them to continue to lay down their lives to protect us, then I say it is time for the politicians and the media to get a hold of themselves and give our troops the respect, honor, and support that they deserve.

I’m all for the freedom to protest, but stay outta range of the service of a soldier. Several people there might be armed, and might be having issues with self control.
Phelps and his gang go around calling themselves Christian and it gives real Christians a bad name. People like Phelps are who the media seeks out when it wants to do a story on “Fundamentalists”.
I saw Phelps’ two daughters on O’Reilly one night. All of his kids are lawyers and they are the only members of his church. Bill asked if he was going to Hell because he was a Catholic, and they both had this wild, demonic look in their eyes as if they relished the answer, Of course Bill, every body’s going to Hell except us. Honestly, those were her words.
I’m not even going to say that even though I disagree with them, I respect their right to say and do what they are saying and doing because I dont.
I wonder how in the last day they are going to be able to stand before the Great White Throne and justify their actions. Jesus never preached this sort of thing.
One of the two soldiers kidnapped, murdered, and mutilated in Iraq was from Madras, OR and the clowns from the questionable church were going to drop by and provide the same type of entertainment. Madras is just down the road about 20 miles from were my wife grew up. The authorities told them they could not and would not guarantee their safety if they showed at this soldiers funeral. The church group decided not to show up. The good folks in most of Eastern Oregon (outside of Bend) don’t suffer fools or traitors and these people would have simply disappeared somewhere in the Ochoco or Cascade Mountains. They have a history stemming from the “Wild West” days of the Prineville Vigilantes and the various sheep shooter associations that existed in most of Eastern Oregon and prefer to be left alone.
swj719AWG good luck in boot camp hope you make it to graduation. From my days in Survival School I highly recommend you quit smoking. You are going to need all the wind you can get to keep up with the youngsters running along side you.
Now if this group did this at Gitmo it would be declared torture by the left.

This is what we mean when we say that “moderate Muslims” need to speak up about the extremists acting in their name. Here we have a group taking a mainstream Christian belief (homosexuality is a sin) to an absurd and offensive extreme. Claiming to be Christian, they act on that extreme belief. And every true Christian on this blog denounces them for it.
You show me the moderate Muslim counterpart to Michelle Malkin and her commentors and I’ll re-think my support for Islamofacism Awareness Week.

The First Ammendment stops where hatred, bigotry and racism begin. These creeps crossed that line a long, long time ago, and do so in a way that perverts the true message of Christianity. They are just one step below that of Islamists. All that is missing is a body count, and I am sure they are probably working on that.
Fred Phelps and his family are, simply-put, a disgusting abomination before God and before all that is dignified. May his family and congregation hear his desperate cries of anguish as he is carried off to eternal damnation–may that time come soon.
