Olbermann: MaglaGONG, MaglaGONG, MaglaGONG, nyah, nyah, nyah

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 25, 2007 11:59 AM

My maiden name is Maglalang.

The diversity-embracing nutroots just LOVE my last name.

They love to mock it, misspell it, and use it as some sort of debate-ending trump card.

B-b-b-b-but her name is “MAGLALANG!”

I thought this line of attack had played out. But nutroots-panderer and Johnny-come-lately Keith Olbermann, parroting Media Matters, has picked up the meme.

He can barely contain his glee at referring to me as “Michelle MaglaGONG Malkin.” That is his answer to my column arguing that Hillary ought to pay closer attention to limited English-proficient donors in Chinatown forking out big bucks on dishwashers’ salaries.

MaglaGONG, MaglaGONG, MaglaGONG, nyah, nyah, nyah:

Words fail.

***

Partial transcript:

Olbermann: Our winner, Michelle Malkin, self-destructing before our eyes. Questioning the propriety of donations to Senator Clinton’s campaign, writing they were from quote “dishwashers, cooks and other suspect Hillary campaign contributors in Chinatown, Flushing, The Bronx and Brooklyn who were limited-income, limited-English-proficient and smellier than stinky tofu.” Incredibly, she was not yet done: “If it’s ‘ethnic profiling’ to be extra-careful of Chinatown donors who can’t speak English…then “ethnic profiling” should be the standard procedure of every campaign.”

Olbermann: Oy. Michelle Malkin’s maiden name is MaglaGONG. She was born to Filipino parents in Philadelphia and what has evidently eluded her all these years is that she has been violently and viciously supporting a party which not only endorses ethnic profiling of people were born to Filipino parents in Philadelphia or Manila or Mars, but she has been supporting a party which includes most of the idiots in this country who would judge her entirely and exclusively on her appearance–Republicans–who would happily lump her in with the people in Chinatown, Flushing, the Bronx, and Brooklyn whom she has just so hatefully, moronically, ethnically slandered.

Olbermann: Michelle MaglaGONG Malkin, today’s worst person in the world.

Reminder from a close Olbermann watcher:

Olbermann’s been reprimanded by the ADL for his Nazi remarks, he’s compared Fox News to the Klan, he’s made “chicken and waffles” cracks about black athletes, and his staff once confused Opio Sokoni with Malik Shabazz when he was commenting on your segments with them. And I’m not even getting into all the anti-woman stuff for which he’s famous. This mispronunciation is part of a pattern. And since your maiden name is spelled correctly at Wikipedia and at NNDB, there’s really no excuse for getting it wrong. Maybe he mispronounced it on purpose.

MaglaGONG!!!!

Update Nov. 1: The MSNBC water-carriers over at TV Newser have linked this blog post, deriding it as a complaint about how my name was pronounced:

On her blog, author and conservative talking head Michelle Malkin corrects MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, not over the content of his commentary, but over his pronunciation…of her maiden name.

Read the entire post here for yourselves and watch the clip. I hope you are not as dense as the TV Newser Olbermann sucker-upper. The point is that Olbermann had no substantive response to my column on Hillary’s Chinatown funny money other than to mock my name like the impotent boob he is. That was the content of his criticism. Pathetic.

    Liberals like Olberman clearly have no argument, no real debate skills, and no ability to defend their positions.

    If they did, they wouldn’t resort to racial slurs and other pejoratives when debating with or talking about conservatives.

    For the party that is supposedly so “tolerant”, “diverse” and compassionate, and empowering for women, liberals are the FIRST to pull out the insults, the insinuations, and the words that would get any other person fired or shamed.

    And we all know their favorite targets are conservatives like MM or Clarence Thomas or women who are conservative. One of my local conservative bloggers, a woman, was just described – on a lefty blog – in one of the most disgusting ways, with a very disgusting word.

    Where’s the outrage? Where’s the Don Imus-like pandering and hysteria?

    Uh huh.

    I guess we’re all supposed to believe that Nothing’s Beneath Keith, as a monumental figure in The Unhinged Community, has neither seen nor heard about the multitude of stereotypical Asian whore/Filipino mail-order bride insults directed at Michelle from the lefty blogosphere.

    Those emails aren’t coming from Republicans, Keith — those are coming from liberal folk who — supposedly — think of any person with her distinctive Pacific Islander features as an equal in every respect. But when her contrary political and social views are made known, they turn on a dime, and out spews the filth about ping-pong balls, servicing sailors, and worse that can only come from persons who are only deluding themselves if they think they are truly tolerant.

    I am a black man whose views are overwhelmingly conservative. If you are a liberal, you wouldn’t guess that unless I told you so or if you read my opinions. You have all been conditioned by the likes of OhBrotherMan and his MSM compadres to assume that every American black man is a dyed-in-the-wool liberal who looks to Jesse Jackson and/or Al Sharpton as a leader, believes he needs Affirmative Action to “make it,” who is still whining about being born a descendant of slaves and having to deal with descendants of slave-owners (that is, of course, those descendants that aren’t liberal), and who spits on the ground when the name “Clarence Thomas” is mentioned.

    It’s interesting that Olbermann thinks he knows what Republicans think of Filipinos (“[they] who would happily lump her in with the people in Chinatown”), but he cites no source. Hmmm. What is his point of reference besides the brain in his head that is fighting with his ego for space? And what does that say about what HE thinks of Filipinos?

    That being said, I would take such an accusation as the greatest honor in the world. To not be liked by Olbermann shows that you clearly must have a good head on your shoulders.

    It’s this sort of unquestioned “facts” that the MSM gets away with all the time. It’s the sort of Goebblesque propaganda that passes off as the truth to otherwise conservative-minded people in this country who have bought the liberal lines that Democrats only want to protect the “little guy.”

    I do not personally know any real leftist liberal dead-heads–only conservatives who have been fooled by this sort of portrayal of Republicans as being Nazi-like scumbags who want to put everyone who isn’t a white protestant into a ghetto or a concentration camp. Reaching them has been a long process, but quite a number of them are realizing what today’s Democratic Party is really all about. I can only hope that enough sane folks will realize it before they vote in the “Manchurian Candidate” in 2008.

    Sort of subtraction by addition.

    Good one!

    I don’t remember that one.

    I do, however, remember the term “such a pill” used to refer to such a negative individual.

    I also remember that there is a type of person who can make you actively angry – that seems to go out of his way to irritate you;

    and, that there is a type of person that is so incapable of clear, rational conversation and thinking that, when you ask him a question:

    not only do you not receive an answer;

    not only do you forget the question you had asked in the first place;

    you feel that there has been a net “knowledge drain” out of you.

    I will go to my grave shaking my head in wonderment at the abject stupidity of the left.

    Keith Olberman is right. I am a conservative Republican and I have been ethnically profiling Filipinos, singling them out for special attention. For example, I ethnically profile Filipinos whenever I need some lumpia, because they’re the only ones who’ve got it.

    And, heck, I’ll admit that I’ve been ethnically profiling Michelle, pausing to watch her on TV when she appears, because she reminds me of those feisty little pinays back in Luzon, not just because she’s cute as a button. That would be Shallow and Wrong. All that good conservative talk she talks is just icing on the cake. Michelle reminds me of my time in the Philippines, which was a fun and exciting time, which just makes me feel happy.

    I’d watch his show to see it slowly implode, but then I’d have to watch his show.

    We just need to say it. The Democratic party is the party of racism. It always has been, since Abraham Lincoln beat them into submission until the Southern Dems tried to keep Blacks out of their schools. And they still are, they just realized that they could only gain/maintain power if they changed their schtick from overt to covert racism and began forking out money & favors to get the minority vote.

    They still think minorities are’t as smart/good/capabale as Whites (see Biden’s comments today). They just learned how to play the game.

    They are nice to minorites when they toe the party line & deliver the votes, but as soon as they go off of the reservation, look out, the gloves come off and the old racism comes out. I’m not sure how this is that much different then how they treated Blacks back in the South back in the 60′s. They were just fine with minorities as long as they knew their place. Like my uncle once said “I have no problems with Blacks, as long as they stay in their place” (that’s when grandma slapped him).

    That could be the motto of the Democratic party.
    We accept anyone, as long as you know your place.

    Yep. Go through the HotAir archives and you will find a whole bunch of Republican males judging Michelle on her appearance. The consensus runs from “hot” to “smokin’ hawt.

    I know this has been mentioned before on this thread, but it bears repeating.

    As for myself, the first time I encountered the name “Michelle Malkin” was while reading a link to one of her columns for Jewish World Review. Therefore my first mental picture of her was to imagine a middle-aged Jewish intellectual (perhaps a rabbi’s wife). Boy was I wrong.
