Hillary’s big blunder
Update 2:26pm Eastern. Hillary decries the pile-on. Well, a great big Halloween Boo-Freaking Hoo, Mrs. Front-runner.
Update 11:45am Eastern. The Hillary spin machine sputters.
Hillary cruised through most of last night’s debate–until she was pressed on NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s illegal alien driver’s license plan. Ooh boy, I bet she was cursing Spitzer to high heaven. If not for that dunder-headed, back-firing New York state pander to the open-borders lobby, she would not likely have been pressed on this issue. She would have never stumbled. The cool-as-a-cucumber mask would have never slipped off.
Gotta give kudos to Tim Russert (and Brian Williams, for that matter). They made this debate worthwhile (and that includes the UFO question).
Now, it would behoove the GOP to put up a nominee who can exploit Hillary’s weakness from a position of strength.
Unfortunately, as we have seen , some Republicans candidates have no legs to stand on–and last-minute conversions will leave them weak, vulnerable, and as unpersuasive as the Big H herself.
***
Here’s how the NYTimes described the exchange:
Mr. Obama and Mr. Edwards came into the debate seeking to raise questions about Mrs. Clinton’s credibility — and, as a result, renew doubts about her electability. Mrs. Clinton may have helped them with her unsteady answer about whether she supported the initiative by Mr. Spitzer.
“Do I think this is the best thing for any governor to do?” she said. “No. But do I understand the sense of real desperation, trying to get a handle on this? Remember, in New York we want to know who’s in New York. We want people to come out of the shadows. He’s making an honest effort to do it. We should have passed immigration reform.”
She was challenged on what she said first by Senator Christopher Dodd of Connecticut and then by Mr. Edwards. “Unless I missed something, Senator Clinton said two different things in the course of about two minutes just a few minutes ago, and I think this is a real issue for the country,” Mr. Edwards said.
The NYPost’s Charles Hurt said it better:
She tied herself up in knots – in a way her opponents couldn’t – with her non-answer about whether she favors giving driver’s license to illegal aliens.
She must be the only New Yorker without an opinion on the plan (other than her colleague, Sen. Chuck Schumer).
Her evasiveness on the most talked-about issue in the state reminded everyone of the worst of husband Bill and what could be in store if another Clinton makes it to the White House.
Ed Morrissey: “This was a disastrous answer from Hillary. She can expect to live with this YouTube for the next year.”

comrade clinton’s gaffe while funny, isn’t a suprise for people who have followed her career. This isn’t anything that we have not come to expect from her. The problem is that most Americans don’t know the real hillary, and any attempts to show them her past is met quickly with either a yawn or threat of red baiting.
The only thing missing on her blouse a was red star pin, and mao’s book in her purse.
GSP
This is great, but it will probably go the way of the China connection.
The only people who could keep this alive are the other Dem primary challengers. They are too terrified of taking a strong stand on the immigration issue.
What blunder? She put the blame right where it belonged – on George Bush. Over at KOS and DU they are probably gushing about her wisdom and insight on this issue.
It’s just a matter of time before she completely loses it, tough call between Zsu Zsu’s Salmander and Hillary biting the dust.
Gotta give kudos to Tim Russert (and Brian Williams, for that matter). They made this debate worthwhile.
Michelle – well, maybe the debate was worthwhile until they got to the questions about who has seen UFO’s!
jsr,
What did the Bill do for Immigration?
She could have just as easily blamed hubby for sitting on his rump also.

?
That was sarcasm on my part.
One thing I found particularly frightening about last night’s debate was the number of issues discussed that are CLEARLY local gov’t issues or private sector issues, not federal gov’t issues. Like education and health care. Debate points included things like day-care and pre-school for 3-4 year olds, and older standard talking points like teacher pay, etc., plus some suggestions to take the “profit” out of health care in order to make it better (????) – this mens, of course, “universal” or gov’t=run health care. Frightening stuff.
Sorry jsr, not with it yet.
They probably will make life miserable for Tim Russert for actually pressing her on illegal immigration. He should have known better! He should have given her the question in advance, accepted her evasive answer, and gone on to the next question–just as the media does in socialist countries. Never embarrass a Clinton!
#9
That’s Ok. I’m still on my first cup of coffee myself. For a minute there I thought I was in an alternate universe.
Finally, the press and her opponents have figured out the obvious. When Hillary is finally asked a direct question she will answer strongly both ways! The problem is “is” that she is nowhere as good at it as her husband.
Duck and water. It’ll roll off her back and she’ll forget about it. Later down the road the Hildabeast will say she was misquoted and misunderstood.
Standard
progressiveliberal excuse.Missed the debate. Can’t watch the video here at work. Baaawaaannn
I’ll never eat a cucumber again.
Tennessee Dave,#13: The outrage in New York over the D.L. issue for illegals will haunt Hillary if she supports it. She is counting on the “Blue Block” of states to propel her into the W.H. Her negatives are at 50% now and this issue could send them higher.
Standing between Edwards and Obama, mildly put, I would say, Hillary was shredded sideways. Right from the start, both of them, ridiculed her double talk, bundling and lobby money.
I can just see the steam coming out of Hillary’s ears when she was in private after this one was over.
Not pretty.
Good thing the cats not with them anymore, she probably would have kicked it a mile.
Yes, Michelle and friends, Hillary reversed course two or three times on the driver’s license question.
The real questions for me are:
1) Is the average voter even paying attention and “getting it?”
2) More significantly, can the average voter see what Mrs. Clinton is really about when she instantly directs the focus away from not giving a straight answer to Russert’s question to a de facto attack on Russert for “playing gotcha”.
She is pretty adept at playing victim and going into blitzkrieg. I guess we’ll find out on election day if the electorate can see what we here in the friendly confines of Michelle’s back yard can so readily see.
I was thinking along the same lines work949.
Hopefully people are starting to wake up, but have no fear shes going to step in it again, and again so eventually they have to Get it.
Work949, this is why it’s essential that we tell our family, our friends, our co-workers, etc. about Hillary.
MM and other conservative blogs have strong, factual, and alarming information regarding her and her ‘plans’ for the White House and presidency.
Granted, you’ll run into folk who’ll support her anyway…but I believe, if presented in a rational and mature way, most Americans will look at this facts and be appalled.
#19 ajmontana
I wish I had your confidence in the electorate. But since they elected her husband twice, I fear they may be gullible enough to elect Hillary as well.
It seems to me the liberals make an emotional appeal to the electorate (and often play loose with the facts in doing so) and the conservatives prefer more rational arguments. The rational approach works for me but sometimes the emotional approach wins.
Hillary has real problem with the vocal wacko left. This is at least 20% of the Democratic party. If she does not toe the line, her opponents will have plenty of ammo to use on her. She needs to promise that she will end the war and bring home the troops on day one of her presidency. She must promise to allow open borders and free medical services to all who come. She must promise never to send troops any where for any reason, especially to defend the country or our allies. She must promise to raise taxes on all us rich folk to pay for any social program she can think of. This is just for starters.
I’d agree. This unforced fumble, while an excellent example of why
EvitaMadame Hillary runs such a tightly controlled and scripted campaign, which only she can get away with because of the “mainstream” media’s well-rehearsed policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” when it comes to the Clintons. After all, what other candidate could have survived the revelation of the multiple financial scandals that Clinton has been engaged in during the primaries without a media blocker wall of “See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil?”
Besides her mealy-mouthed gaffe won’t really hurt her because she hit the right buzz words for the audience: “George Bush.”
For most donkeys, recite the Magic Words and everything else turns into “blah blah blah.” They say Republicans can’t get over Bill Clinton, but they’re already proving that they’re still running against George Bush in 2008.
Edwards is right – two Americas…just different two. 1) Those who think, can see the results of the liberal agenda. 2) Those who do’nt think, wish for good things…play if I close my eyes, it’s not there. “Feeling” is everything for them and don’t confuse them with facts.
I had a woman at the grocery store tell me the other day that “Hillary deserves to be president because she’s had a rough life”. I kid you not – that was the exact quote. So apparently the qualification you need for president is “rough life” (as if Hill’s life has been rough).
And for those who wonder why Hill supports socialism – the truth is she’s lived her whole life off of the taxpayers dime.
I dont know if its gullible, maybe stuborn. Just elect whomever the Dem candidate is and who cares about America. or that old mantra “we need change” blah, blah, blah no matter what the consequences just look what happened to the Senate, what a joke.
1) How come they didn’t quote her first answer in the article?
2) She did not raise her hand when they asked ‘who disagreed with the idea’. Dodd was the only one. Did anyone catch that Biden disagreed in the interview.
3) How can she blame Bush? He did everthing to pass the shannesty bill. Blame the AMERICAN people Hillary…it was our fault! How can she not blame her first administration?
4) Yes Hillary, all yes/no questions are gotcha’s. Grow some **** and take a stand on SOMETHING!
Michelle Malkin said:
I think you have described the wrong part of the anatomy regarding Republican fortitude!
What we need is this clip of Hilariously’s flip flop with a preface and ending of her cackled witches laugh.
You may have a point about stubborn, aj. I had a friend, a small business owner old enough to remember the depression. The complaints I heard him voice about the government should have led him to vote republican, but he voted democrat every time.
sorry comrade hillary isn’t going to grow some b***s or ov****s, or a spine for that matter…Its not in the clinton dna for that.
So the question that has to be asked is: Is being a democrat/communist/ progressive a learned behavior or is it a mutation of a person’s dna?
Quick we must find the democrat dna gene and stop it!!!!
I missed almost the entire debate. I thought I heard someone afterwards mention Hillary’s papers in the Clinton library…true? Did she do a post debate interview? I went to bed after all the UFO talk. Are they undocumented workers also? I think all the UFO talk is about finding new voters…just in case some Klingon names show up on the registrations.
The debate proved Hillary Matters achilles heal, she cannot accept criticism. Shades of Hillary-care.
Downhill ride from here.
Did anyone see that one ‘analyst’ said before the debate that Richardson would come to Hillary’s aid if she was being attacked? Interesting…
I almost feel sorry for them…
I said almost.
Both she and Dodd want to solve the problem of illegal immigration by legalizing everyone who is here illegally, granting them amnesty. Then we can avoid this tedious debate about drivers licenses! They talk in code, but everyone knows what they are saying. I wish Russert would have asked them just how many more illegals we should have to absorb.
Anyone else notice the dismissive wave of the hand she gave? If the MSM would only occasionally press her (I believe last night was a first), she would self destruct in a hurry…
Senator Clinton did a fantastic job here standing up to all of those old-school men. The men just ganged up on her and their ringleader was Tim Russert. This is just another example of men ruling the political landscape in America. Hillary is challenging that and they can’t handle it.
Sincerely,
I’m Voting for Hillary Just Because She’s a Woman
/sarc
Incredible, really what a performance. The Spitzer plan is all about pandering, it doesn’t accomplish anything. We want people- aka invaders, to come out of the shadows. They already are breaking the law but now they will do something lawful by getting a driver’s license, they have no right to…it is against New York State Law and Federal Law. Is this all about perception of compassion? Illegal Aliens Issue, is not partisan, this issue crosses party lines…and these folks are so into pandering to their special interest (who appear to be lobbying them hard) they would rather shoot themselves in the foot, then respond in the positive to their own Democrat constituents. Hillary wants to pick up the swing vote, not with her position on this issue. WHERES THE FENCE?
Mornin’ everybody.
I missed the debate but enjoyed the squirming non-answer clip. I actually think I could see her making poll calculations in her head as she spoke.
I think it must be a learned behavior. Doesn’t anyone remember that Hillary was a Goldwater girl in college, and interned (I think) for Melvin Laird before she went over to the dark side? I believe she counted the number of Democrats, and the number of Republicans and decided it was easier to fleece the Democratic faithful with “rob from the rich, give to the poor” rhetoric than it was to support conservative values. It’s either that, or she decided to follow Bubba, who clearly knew that liberal chicks were easier to score with.
Did anyone use the word illegal last night (except when talking about Bush of course)? All I heard was undocumented workers.
Hillary: We really need to get the undocumented gang bangers out of the shadows…which a drivers license would address. Why don’t you just go ask for contributions Hillary. They seem to come out of the woodwork when you do that.
I thought she and Russert did very well as a lib tag team. He handed her a fluff question that she managed to avoid without exposing that she is a corrupt, unpatriotic, pro-illegal senator who cares more about the Hispanic vote than the sovereignty and security of our nation.
Her character is starting to show. She should have just been honest and said she supports driver’s licenses for illegals in NY. Take a position, and some will think you’re wrong. Can’t get away from that. That’s politics. Then her campaign blames Russert? I can almost hear her indignant tone in my ears as she searches the room for someone to blame. Blaming others, not taking responsibility for her own positions — we’re going to see a lot more of that. I don’t think people will tolerate it very well. I can’t stand it myself. But for her to be unmasked and seen for who she really is — I’d love to see that.
A truly smart man (Einstein) once said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Anyone who expects that Hillary will ever answer a question responsively and honestly must be crazy.
Yup. I see it happening just that way. Brings to mind a quote …
No men are oftener wrong than those that can least bear to be so.
Francois de La Rochefoucauld
Last night Hillary got caught off guard and slipped and America saw a little of the stumbling, angry Hillary that we all know is at the core of that whitewashed little commie.
The press has given her a pass on her contradictory statements and no one, until now, has really held her feet to the fire on an issue like this. They haven’t really done any serious reporting on her at all.
There is still a long way to go to the presidential election and it’s only going to get more stressful for her. I wonder if she’s up to it? One stressful moment that she wasn’t preped for and suddenly she’s talking in circles. What about ten months from now when she’s flying around the country, not getting enough sleep and is forced to answer a real question?
I’m just wondering.
Bill Clinton “was so smart and so slick that he could think up a lie, and he’d think it up quick.” He could look at a camera, tell a bold faced lie and give a smile that made half the women in the country want to have his baby.
But not so Hillary. She’s not quick, she’s not a genius, she’s well handled. I wonder if that’s why she’s been keeping the press at arms length.
I also wonder how long she can keep it up.
I know Slick Willie. Slick Willie was my president. And she’s no Slick Willie.
Apparently Hillary never learned that you can’t please ALL of the people ALL of the time……. She gave it the old college try though and wound up looking like a pandering non principled politician !
She stepped in deep, deep ka ka!!!!!!
I hope Tim Russert, for his pressing question of Hillary regarding drivers licenses for illegal immigrants question, doesn’t wind up in the company of the likes of Vince Foster…
The Clintons don’t just cover up, they exterminate.
Tim Russert, despite his liberal back ground, sometimes does a professional job.
He comes from the old Democratic east coast guard ala. Mario Cuomo. And men like Kerry, Dodd, Biden, and Kennedy and others of their ilk, resent this upstart senator seemingly waltzing into the W.H. The Clintons could not go quite that far.
And we wonder why Dems wont go on fox news ?
Love to see Hillary sit down with Bill O.
Never happen.
#44 ROTFLMAO “..that whitewashed little commie.”
OT sorta—
Dear Hillary:
As I read up to the word commie i was hoping the last word would begin with a “b”.
And, yes, I am happy I “came out” as a UFO survivor. Less happy that I wasn’t probed, well, you-know-where.”
– Leonard Nimoy’s Love Child (aka Dennis Kucinich
Where are the Conservative Republican women?
First woman Attorney General: Liberal failure Janet Reno
First woman Secretary of State: Liberal failure Madelline Albright
First woman Speaker of the House: Liberal failure Nancy Pelosi
First woman President: Hopefully not Liberal failure Hillary Clinton
Gee, doesn’t Russert know we aren’t supposed to hit girls?
The Islamo-fascists don’t know that, and that fact takes Hillary Clinton right out of the running to lead the free world against terrorists. It isn’t possible to command respect from someone who believes you’re a lower form of life in the first place.
If she can’t handle herself against Russert and the other Democratic eunuchs running against her without spewing nonsense out of both sides of her mouth at the same time, how could she stand up against someone like Ahmadinejad who, as crazy as he is, is no fool.
THE ROCKY BALBOA MOMENT. Stay with me here. In every Rocky movie the battered underdog has that moment in the fight where the music is qued and the tide turns leaving the heavily favored opponent with a stunned look wondering what happened. As the heavily favored Hilary stuttered and tripped all over herself trying to find the “safe” answer on immigration I could almost hear the music starting. Today she still hasn’t found the safe answer. Can you say KO’d on the issue?
iamsaved #52: Hopefully not First woman president- already a liberal failure.
ThatSamIAm: Way with you on that RB moment. Hillary embodies what the liberals used to blather about Reagan, falsely, that he had to be fully scripted or he couldn’t go two feet in any direction.
But he could. I picture Hillary having to go toe to toe with other leaders of free nations without a script.
She can’t do it. Not electable. And I don’t think the media has a blanket big enough to throw over her real self in order to market a PIAP to the American public.
(PIAP= Porcine In A Pant Suit).
Since I am from Illinois, I will share something that out of staters probably don’t know. Check out this article from over three years ago. We debated the same thing as we are debating the same thing now. Guess who was then leading the effort to give driver’s licenses to illegals? That’s right, then state senator Barack Obama. This issue will kill each of the front runners.
I’d like to see her sit down with the O’Reilly from yesteryear, but the 2007 O’Reilly, meh. He’s obsessed with stripper stories these days. Or any story where they can get shots of strippers on the pole from the waist down. I don’t watch O’Reilly much anymore. Heck, most of Fox I have to force feed myself these days. EWTN is where it’s at.
It wasn’t only on the illegal immigrants licenses though that she was called into question. I believe it was Tim russert who also later asked about something she said in NH and compared it to what she said in IA regarding Social Security. And there was also her fumbling when asked about support of Charlie Rangels “Mother of all tax increases”. It was the first time somebody started connecting all the dots at one time and trying to get an answer.
Now the skeptic in me says the moderators only did this to make covering the primaries a little more interesting by trying to tighten up the pack some and once, if ever, it appears Hillary is in trouble they will cease and desist, and indeed turn their attention to the others. They are hoping to defuse any future Republican attacks on her of this nature and then try to make it appear that the Democrat nominee isn’t a sure thing.
So sure people will make hay of this for a couple of days but if nobody else in the Democrat side makes any progress in closing the gap then there is no harm. Then the Republicans can nominate Ron Paul and still beat her in the general election.
does it matter why Russert did it? Maybe, it is because he is a good moderator. I don’t really care. I said for a long time that the Dems would regret selecting Hillary as their nominee. This debate performance is evidence of what I am talking about. We will see if the debate will make any difference.
Mike Volpe- I am with you on this one about the license issue.
Obama and Clinton are in bed with the Mexicans.
eww.
Think history will show just how the Clinton’s got out of Ark…and point their fingers to Ross Perot? Tks Ross
Not the Mexicans, their puppetmaster George Soros
Their entire agenda crosses with his. From economic to social to foreign policy, they along with the majority of the Dems take whatever position Soros takes. It matters not how radical it is. This is just one example. Remember, half the candidates want to get rid of don’t ask don’t tell. More than half thought it was a good idea to teach second graders about gay princes. More than half want to negotiate with Iran unconditionally. All of them want universal health care. These are all bedrock Soros positions.
Hillary must have gotten her talking points from John “Flop-flop” Kerry. She had the gall to accuse Russert of playing a game of “gotcha” for asking a simple yes/no question on an important issue and then following-up when she failed to answer it the first time. Anyone who wants to be President of the United States, and can’t take a position on an issue, has no business in the office. What a joke. She may as well have Rosie O’Donnell as her running mate.
The Republican candidate will make mince meat of Hillary.
Bubba won with 43% in the plurality because of the votes pulled away from G.H.W. Bush by Perot. We see what happened in the next eight years after that. We can’t afford Mrs. Bubba in the W.H. for 10 seconds.
mike volpe:#63 Amazing how many people say,”George who”?
He wants to change America to be more like a Euro-socialist type model. Which is a failed model. He is using the Democratic party to do it. One just has to look at the money he is pouring into the candidates through his surrogates at Media Matters and MoveOn.org.
Did anyone expect anything different. The left can NEVER answer any question with a straight answer. They always turn it completely around and get away with it.The only way to beat this Witch is to keep pounding the dirt she and her bunch have, day after day after day.We cant stop, they will have illegals, the dead and non-existent people voting for her.She knows how to steal. They have gotten away with so much for so long that they feel home free. This battle is worse than any in Iraq and it must be won or we can all enjoy 8 years of both of them running the USA.Get ready to open your wallets.
Mike: Gotta agree with you on pupetmaster. I think the shortest version of what George Soros stands for – anything that is morally relativistic and anything that is for socialism (ie. – the masses in one class and himself and his minions in the ruling class)
Ya. I agree they’ll regret it too. It seems to be a Dhimmicrat pattern where they wind up their nominee well in advance and push them as “Inevitable”, like it is some kind of psy-op against the rest of the electoral landscape.
The last time around, after they killed off Dean (or should I say bought off Dean), they set up John “Candle Face” Kerry as Mr. Inevitable, following in the footsteps of Gore, and the other wack job from Massachusetts- oh yeah, Dukakis.
In the end they were all a pair of empty boots with smoke wafting from within.
I am not so sure that is a sign of strength as much as a sign of insecurity.
The biggest Dhimmicrat obstacle right now is not credibility with the electorate. War looming with Iran and Syria, along with Israel in a death match with Hezbollah and Hamas, is the Dhimmicrats biggest problem.
They will have to take a side and stick with it.
Against the war- that we will win- they are doomed. (The surge has hurt all of them already.) For the war- they’ve flopped and lost their fringe base to a third party candidate.
And Hillary- though she hates the military- will have to campaign as a war time commander in chief; or, at worst, a commander in chief who has to rebuild our nation’s forces after a major war time undertaking that could span the next two presidential terms.
She has spend a fortune remaking herself just to campaign. When war comes, she will have to undergo radical surgery and may just be unrecognizeable to anybody.
Good luck, PIAPS.
yes, to some extent Soros. But the NAFTA Superhighway- which is never mentioned in the debate- is a more compelling reason for the drivers license to become a watered down piece of paper.
No absolutes in the discussion, Mike. Sorry.
Soros is powerful but he isn’t the quintessential puppet master in this because the real ones are never visible.
More than the socialist take from me give to somebody else issues of the Dems…I am concerned more about two things:
The moral decay that any/all of them would hasten
The open embrace of the least peaceful ideologies on the planet.
With that said though, I do agree with Mike that most people won’t care about those two – rather they would be concerned with their own wallet and that is an emotional point that might motivate them.
All of this agreement. I hope everyone remembers our back and for on SCHIP. I wrote a piece in which I proclaimed to be bullish for the Reps in 2008. Hillary Clinton was one pillar and George Soros was another.
A while back there was a debate on the blogosphere about whether or not infighting in the primaries is good or not. I personally think it is great.
I see it from the perspective of my profession, sales. (mortgage broker really but sales in general). The best clients are always the ones that it takes the most effort to close. The reason is that they have exhausted all of their objections before they agree to work with you. It is the ones that agree to work with right away that you worry about. All of their objections haven’t been aired yet.
I see the primaries the same way. We want to air out as much dirty laundry as possible because whoever we choose we will already know all their baggage.
With Hillary, there is so much baggage that hasn’t been challenged yet. If they choose her, it WILL be challenged come general election time. By then it will be too late. I believe that at some point Hsu will become a mainstream issue. The story is just too plain juicy to simply be swept under the rug. She has taken nearly ten positions in Iraq. Doesn’t anyone over there think that will be a problem? She has already switched her position on negotiating with Iran.
Her own words make her a socialist. After all it was her that said these two things
and this one
Now, either the Dems are socialists themselves and think the rest of the country is as well, or they are simply too dense to realize what she says. Either way, it makes her an atrocious candidate.
Either way, it makes her an atrocious candidate.
shhh… not so loud, the Dems will hear….
Let it go, Dude.
I never held it. I just find it peculiar how the same people that were vigorously attacking me then are now jumping over themselves to agree with me. That’s all.
Never held it, yet you bring it up. You are kinda like a bad marriage, Miguelito.
Jumping? Take yourself down a few pegs in your own mind, Mike.
You got hammered on S-Chip, rightly or wrongly.
The points you make about Hillary- for the most part- are points I hold for myself. You are naming them. I voice agreement with the points- not you.
You’ve got this penchant, perhaps unconsciously, to appear as the one who said it long ago.
And it’s kinda schteppid. See, in this age of instant media and 24/7 punditry, almost anybody with a sharp mind and more than a little gonadile fortitude can say stuff that’s correct about major venue politics and politicians.
So I don’t quite get the “agreeing with me” narcissism on your part. That’s all.
Oh! That’s all.
Right Vince? Monica? Paula? Kathleen? Socks? I guess they really do come out ahead.
“They’ve deferred payment for a long long time- just like Nixon.”
-Vern Terwilliger, the guy sleeping under a hedge down the block, 2007
Bear, with all due respect, I haven’t posted enough comments here for you to know what penchant I have.
I am altogether sorry that I brought the entire thing up. I have been in sales for ten years so trust me when I tell you that my skin is plenty thick.
I could really careless if the bulk of you agreed with me on SCHIP, and frankly my assertion was that you wouldn’t. I am dropping this now.
OK, glad to see her get her’s, but the real issue (for us in NY anyway)is still Spitizer & his blatant attempt at voter fraud. When 72% of the state disagree with the Governor I think it a good reason to vote for recall…
Any one know if the law allows in NY?
Brooklyn Red, why don’t you make it a threesome — Spitzer, Clinton and Schumer?
Brooklyn,
I don’t think there is a recall law in New York, and I live in a neighboring borough. However, Spitzer just might self-destruct and leave the recall moot.
He makes me wish Johnny Carson was still around.
Carnac (with the envelope to his forehead): T.S. Eliot.

Carnac (opening the envelope): What do you tell Gov. Spitzer when his driver’s licensing scheme gets shot down?
This woman is fine with adultry. Think illegal immigration bothers her? Whatever brings in the votes, is fine with her.
What a contrived idiot.
Hillary’s debate strategy: nod knowingly…nod knowingly…nod knowingly…avoid answering the question. “We have failed…We should have passed immigration reform”?! Meaning the bill that the majority of Americans couldn’t stomach because it sounded an awful lot like amnesty? Please let her supporters see her duplicity…
The key to this DL issue is the FACT that they (illegal aliens) do NOT need OUR Driver’s Licenses! We have millions of LEGAL visitors that DRIVE here or WHILE here, in the United States. Mexico and Canada being the countries with the most legal visitors who DRIVE across our borders, legally, and drive ON OUR streets and highways, LEGALLY! They use (now wait) THEIR Country’s Driver’s Licenses! They do not nor are they required to stop at a local DMV to obtain one of ours! Those from countries who can’t use their own DL, well, the US allows them to use an INTERNATIONAL Driver’s License.
Please, call your local State Police, ask them. Call the Big Rental car agencies, ask how tourists rent cars, drive and get insurance, here!
