This is the worst year I have ever seen. Some idiot up at the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) level decided to only grant funding authority at 36% of the funding required to establish fiscal year 2008 (FY08) requirements during the Continuing Resolution Authority (CRA) allowing us to operate at frugal levels. Many service contracts we are forced to fund (bogus A76 studies used to outsource GIs and contract basic services that are supposedly cheaper than having a GI do the same job, which in my experience is total BS) and require a substantial amount of our budget in the 1st Quarter of FY08. Before going on my post FY07 close-out leave/vacation I was not able to establish many of the FY08 funding documents required to provide basic services to the Wing in my squadron. When I return to duty on Monday I will get to face this mess again and hopefully the idiot at OSD causing this problem has been fired (don’t hold your breath). With the help of the idiot at OSD and the useless members of the Democratic lead Congress we may be facing another Government shutdown again. I will never forget having to work a START treaty inspection the last time funding it with my own funds and those of my fellow American escorts because of the last Government shutdown. We were paid back, but a MSgt should not have to use the funds to support his family to comply with Article VI Section 2 of the US Constitution. I would love to express my stress level before going on leave to each useful idiot on the left side of the aisle in Congress but fear I would wear out after kicking the crap out of about 8 or 10. I have just about had it with these idiots and hope they get that 1% approval rating they are striving for. Sorry about the rant, but had to get it off my chest.
