Miami Herald writer threatens open-borders intifada
This certainly sounds like a threat, doesn’t it:
The rapid escalation of the U.S. anti-immigration hysteria — fueled by ratings-hungry cable-television hotheads and leading Republican presidential hopefuls — is a dangerous trend: It may lead to a Hispanic intifada that may rock this nation in the not-so-distant future.
Remember the Palestinian intifada of the early 1990s, when thousands of frustrated young Palestinians took to the streets and threw stones at Israeli troops? Remember the French intifada of the summer of 2005, in which disenfranchised Muslim youths burned cars and stores in the suburbs of Paris?
If we are not careful, we may see something similar coming from the estimated 13 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, most of them Hispanic, who are increasingly vilified in the media, forced further into the underground by spineless politicians and not given any chance to legalize their status by a pusillanimous U.S. Congress.
Translation: Give us amnesty or else!
Fortunately, some members of Congress aren’t cowed. Remember the Democrat congressman I told you about, Heath Shuler, who is sponsoring a real immigration enforcement bill? Well, he’s joined with Republicans and the bill will be introduced today:
Two ardent proponents of border security are teaming up to introduce a bipartisan bill aimed at curtailing illegal immigration through employer sanctions.
Reps. Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.) and Heath Shuler (D-N.C.), who were both elected after strongly criticizing President Bush’s approach to immigration reform, are unveiling a bill Tuesday that has already attracted the support of dozens of members.
“It’s the one [immigration] bill that will pass this Congress,” said Bilbray in an interview. “We have to make this about illegal employment and crack down on employers.”
The Secure America with Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act focuses on three areas: employment enforcement, interior enforcement and increased border security.
…The Shuler-Bilbray bill would also close existing loopholes that allow illegal immigrants to use the same Social Security number and will require information-sharing between the Department of Homeland Security, the Social Security Administration and the IRS.
In order to increase border security, the bill seeks to provide an 8,000-agent increase for the U.S. Border Patrol and an expansion of the investigative abilities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“It really reflects what polls show across the board … this needs to be a bipartisan effort,” Bilbray said.
The California legislator said Shuler initially approached him with the idea and he immediately decided to sign on.
Shuler, a centrist freshman who defeated then-Rep. Charles Taylor (R) last year, did not return calls for comment.
At press time, 42 Democrats and 36 Republicans had signed on to the bill, including several freshman Democrats who are in Republican-leaning congressional districts.

My friend isn’t Latino, stop playing the race card.
So, you believe in spreading the gospel, only you leave out the “bad” parts like Hell and Hades, just the niceties?
I am not singling out your friend. You said that as a Christians you are 100% in support of amnesty. And I informed you that you are advocating lawlessness. I love my gay brother but he knows that he is committing a sin in God’s eyes. And I would quickly inform him of that if he ever forgotten. That’s not me being a callous or unloving person. That’s speaking the truth. You know what they say about that…it shall set you free.
My friend is not gay and has not committed a sick sin like that.
Come off it, will you? You’re just trying to dodge my points by subtly accusing me of racism. If you don’t have the wits to defend your position, then try another blog.
Homophobe! Nazi!
Not quite. I’m just saying that my friend has hardly committed an egregious sin worthy of me singling him out and telling him he is a sinner.
Let’s leave that to God, shall we?
To get this thread back on topic. Bring on the intifada! To quote Star Wars, “I prefer a stand-up fight to all this sneaking around.” This is not Europe and the illegal invaders among us will find out really quick why the US Constitution has the 2nd Amendment.
Where did I say that your friend is gay?
You seem to have a measuring stick for sins. That’s not of the bible.
Dear wanna be Palestinian Mexicans
Bring it.
Love,
America
Sorry, I misinterpreted your comment to mean that my friend had committed an egregious sin. No offense to the homosexuals, who are God’s children as well.
I can see I’m talking to a liberal.
All of the signs are there: Leftist labeling (accusations of racism, etc), failing to address points of argumentation, repetition of tired, already-answered points. I’ve got no time for this.
Good for you, Southernboy! You’re not telling him he’s a sinner, even though the Bible doesn’t command that anyway and it’s the job of the Holy Spirit to convict one of sin. Since, in your mind, proclaiming God’s law is the same as running through the streets and yelling, “Sinner!” why don’t you just ignore those pesky 10 Commandments, Matthew 5, and all other divine mandates. That’s the solution!
Southernboy, your attempt to remain “above” the fray has caught up with you.
Let’s leave that to God, shall we?

So, since I am not telling my friend he is a sinner (because I believe he has committed no sin by being here without proper papers), I am wrong?
I think you know more than I do about my religion and my spiritual connection with God. Please inform me, oh person who is holier than me, what I should tell my friend.
Thanks for the reminder Boomer. Trolls come in all shapes and sizes…
What laws do think should be upheld? As I can see that there are some laws you agree with and those your think can and should be circumvented.
I don’t support lawlessness; I think all laws should be followed, but that some were (conveniently) made to be broken.
Well, that’s unfortunate. But can I offer you some advice? Don’t use the bible and Jesus to support that position next time. That is a bad move.
God guides my every action.
Yes, since you don’t seem to know what the bible says anyway. And just to make clear, no one here said it was a sin to enter the country illegally.
Thank you, you are one person who gets it. Just wished there were more.
Hey southernboy,
Your friend wouldn’t happened to be named Tommy, would he?
No.
Let’s see.
The troll believes all conservatives must also be fervent Christian fanatics. Therefore, by using the Bible as a foundation, the troll can convince conservatives they are wrong.
However, the troll never quotes any scripture to back his point and seems to lack a working knowledge of Christianity.
Kudos, southernboy, for spelling pastor correctly!
You are the troll, I never said anyone is wrong for their beliefs.
But I am an uncompromising Christian and whatever He says goes!
So I take it that you want mind if my family and friends invade your back yard and settle down…or better yet, how about we just move in your house (there are no borders….right).
Apparently southernboy cannot distinguish between a “sin” and a “crime” and does not recognize the hypocrisy of opposing lawlessness while maintaing “some laws are made to be broken.”
But once they start using services paid for by tax paying citizens…could we consider that stealing?
Umm, I’m a conservative on a conversative web site spreading a conservative message. How exactly does that make me a troll?
You’re here preaching open borders under the guise of religion.
Fact 1. Wages respond to supply and demand. Increase the supply of unskilled laborers and the wages will be driven down. Meat cutters make a fraction of what they made 25 years ago. Could it be because we have ILLEGALS here willing to do the same job for a fraction of the pay? I don’t know what iundustry you’re in, but imagine that someone were willing to do your job for half of what you’re making. What would you do? You can’t get a job elsewhere because now the pay has dropped there also.
Fact 2. ILLEGALS use more in social services and education than they contribute.
Fact 3. ILLEGALS send billions of dollars out of this country that a citizen would have spent here contributing to the economy, not being a drain on it.
Fact 4. There is no health screening for ILLEGALS crossing the border. Tuberculosis wasn’t much of a health concern for the general population until recently and its rise coincides with the increase in ILLEGAL immigration.
This reporter is out of his (or her) ever-lovin’ mind. I’ve been to Israel a couple times, also to Jordan, Egypt and a couple other Middle Eastern countries. This past March I crossed through the security fence from free-spirited, independent Israel into oppressive Palestinian-occupied Bethlehem. There was a difference in the air, let alone the million other differences.
All that to say, I would have never thought of a Hispanic intifada. I can’t see any kind of comparison in the two situations. Whatever side you fall on regarding the Middle East peace process, Palestinian agitators have risen in different intifadas because, at heart, they do not believe Israel has the right to exist. Passionate, violent belief.
Islamo-fascism — whether in Israel, France, Indonesia, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., etc. — is at the heart. You don’t generally see people throwing rocks, or firing off weapons, or blowing themselves up…simply because someone else says they think you’re breaking the law.
Of course, the Miami Herald reporter might just be trying to sell newspapers by using inflammatory rhetoric such as “intifada” when really he means demonstrations and grammatically incorrect sign waving.
And here comes PRCalDude fresh off his Hot Air banning. What a piece of work this guy is.
Has anyone listened to what the Mexican organizations are saying to illegals? They are lying to
them and telling them that WE WANT them here to do
our scut work so we can all retire on easy street and
they will be the only ones working. Also, the dems
think that if they get them the vote they’ll all be in
office for life. They really don’t know the mindset. No
Kerry, Kennedy or Clinton will be elected. It will all be
Guerreros, Vegas or Hinojosas. I know. I lived in Rio
Grande City, TX in Starr County, so close to the
border that we could see the whites of their eyes
when they waded the river.
These illegals have been convinced that Europeans
stole this country from them. Pardon me, but, the
last time I looked at a map, Spain was in Europe,
and we paid for this country with blood and money.
Aye!
BTW, BZO your weapons.
whangtight & PRCalDude – if anyone were truly smart they’d not attempt to argue the finer points of the Bible with either one of you. Kudos to both. Wrapped and tied with bows.
On topic, I wholeheartedly agree with the bill being introduced. Until we dry up the jobs by putting unscrupulous employers in jail (forget the fines and threats by authorities), illegal aliens will continue to invade this country….from all parts of the world. I believe it’s foolhardy to think the American people will not defend what is theirs if push really does come to shove.
If/when it’s decided we are really just one big happy continent – I’m staking claim to beachside property in Baja!
We are not a theocracy, but a nation of laws.
To “Mr. Holier than Thou”: My grandson has put his life on the line and my brother was killed to defend your right to speak freely in the United States of America, but not to break its laws.
No greater love hath a man than he lay down his life for his brother.
Whatever, barney.
I was on HotAir for a long time (2 years) and I’ve had a login here since Michelle revamped her site. Allah, the atheist-centrist that he is, decided go the route of Charles Johnson and other ‘conservatives’ and stifle any difference of opinion on a subject that is basically a non-issue for anyone in the United States. Interesting to see that you tacitly approve of such fascist tactics. Ever consider the possibility you’re brand of ‘conservatism’ is just leftism with a shifted mean?
Of course not. You’ve got Allahpundit’s approval for your thoughts on his site (for now). You’ve got the moral high ground!
This is not a religous debate. Mexicans can be Christians in Mexico. Jesus has nothing to do with it unless he can turn that corrupt country around.
Every city that they’ve populated has turned into a cesspool of crime. Please no more comparisons to European immigrants. For one thing, they were invited. For another, they assimilated into American culture. We didn’t have to print things in German and Italian in the 40s and no one had to press “1″ for english.
Let then bring on their intifada. It’s time to get them out of the country.
USMCgramma #131 – Please know we keep the members of America’s military forces in our prayers everyday. If your grandson is not already home, a special one will go out for his safe return. God will lovingly care for your brother until you see him once more.
dakine – those of us that post on other sites are a bit battle scarred over the past couple of weeks. MM doesn’t need us to carry it over here. A blog site is very close to entering someone’s home. Show the host respect, and those they’ve invited in as well.

That is absolutely true. The U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service web site specifically states:
An immigrant is a foreign national who has been granted the privilege of living and working permanently in the United States. You must go through a multi-step process to become an immigrant.
BTW, my wife is a green card holder. Her official status is Lawful Permanent Resident. I fume with disgust when a Dhimmi-crat demagogue (and some RINO rejects) tries to state that anyone who is against unchecked illegal immigration is just racist and anti-foreigner.
Classic Stalinist tactics. Immunize yourself!
The Mexicans will still believe you’re a racist regardless of what you believe.

Here’s the link if anyone wants to read it (instead of receiving divine revelations from their pastor about what they think Jesus would do).

And want to spit on me too.
Let the Mexicans and other Latinos have their “intifada” – that could jump-start an Article 5 Convention where a Citizenship Amendment is proposed which would do away with birthright citizenship, dual citizenship and give Congress explicit power to define U.S. citizenship and how it may be gained or lost, another amendment barring the formation of a North American Union except by unanimous consent of all the States,
another to assure that no treaty or “agreement” would ever trump the U.S. Constitution and another to bar the Federal judiciary from hearing any case originating in a State or municipal court.
Bring it on crybabies. Americans (as in the country) are ready.
Around ten percent of all Mexicans is an indian/mestizo, and the tribes from which they are descendents have always inhabited lands situated within the current territorial boundaries of modern day Mexico.
So how does the descendent of an Olmec or a Toltec or an Aztek have a legitimate claim to Maidu or Miwok or Paiute lands hundreds or even thousands of miles to the north?
Prime Director#141 – Dr. Peter Yeagley (sp?)@Badeagle.com has written fine articles on the same subject and the Comanche involvement. The re-writing of history, by those that want to invade and conquer this land, and actual history seem to collide now and then.
PRCalDude, your banning was well-deserved. I’ve read your stuff. Your thinking is dangerous and gives true conservatives a bad name. Classic authoritarian personality-type.
Agreed, plus he has hatred for anyone who disagrees with him on the immigration issue and appears to loathe Hispanic-Americans.
From the looks of the hospital emergency room in which I work, the gang graffiti in my neighborhood, and the increase in crime in certain parts of town, I posit that the “intifada” may have already begun.
This is exactly what happens when the criminals take over….
Any idiot who compares illegal invaders to Rosa Parks is to be thrown in a mental institution. That is what we do with people who are demonstrably insane.
They feel free to do as they wish, spit in the eye of the country, and make threats.
The rule of law is INTEGRAL to our survival as a COUNTRY.
People on the left and the right are guilty of throwing their hands up, proclaiming the task too big to handle.
That is false and they know it.
Here is my plan to fix our broken immigration system.
1) Pass legislation unequivocably making employing illegal immigrants illegal. Dedicate a team to investigate infractions. Any company with illegals working gets fined $10,000 per employee, regardless of length of employment. Additionally, 3 months later, review those organizations. Anyone with illegals on the payroll gets their business license suspended for 30 days. Three months later, the same but repeat offenders get shut down for 60 days and fined $1,000,000 per employee. Use that money to fund the system.
2) Sanctuary cities and states get zero dollars in federal funding. Period. I live in one such City. Yank the funding. In Chicago, we are facing a serious funding crisis yet no one wants to even look into the fact that much of our budget deficiencies come directly from illegal aliens taking advantage of our sanctuary status. One major public hospital is seriously underfunded. On any given day, there are dozens of illegals taking up space in emergency rooms so a doctor can treat their colds.
3) State police should be utilized to enforce immigration. If you pull over someone without a license that barely speaks english, ask them (while they are in jail) about their green card. Determine their status and detain them until INS can come collect them.
4) Deportation occurs within 7 days of being brought into detention. period. If you brought a kid here with you, collect them too. If you had a kid here, he’s off to foster homes – it’s your bad parenting that created an orphan, not our laws.
5) Call out Mexico on their rampant, massive corruption. Many, many illegal aliens in the form of Hondurans and Guatemalans are stopped from flowing into the US. These people are often robbed before they are sent back. Stop doing business with Mexico until they straighten up their own corruption. If I have to hear from one more Mexican national that the US is the problem, I’m going to lose it.
6) The next time the illegals throw a rally that disrupts cities and costs the taxpayers millions in protection and policing, have some INS busses at the start and finish. Demand to see identification – if you have some, you are cleared to enjoy the freedoms inherent to American citizens, if not – get on the bus and enjoy your trip back home. The past few years, millions of illegal aliens marched through Chicago, disrupting the business district, aggravating people trying to work for a living, while waving mexican flags and holding signs that say “we are not criminals”. Um. Yes, you are. If you broke our immigration laws, you ARE criminals. I’m sorry you don’t understand the definition of the word ‘criminal’, but you most definitely have broken and continue to break our laws.
7) Any whiny moron elected official that chooses to ignore the laws of our nations immigration is to be impeached, immediately, and jailed as a criminal conspirator.
9) Streamline our immigration system so that people who actually want to become citizens can, faster and more efficiently.
10) Build the fence, patrol the fence, and stop the flow of illegal aliens into our country now. With guns. If they are spotted, they should be dealt with like any other potential invader. Turn them away. If necessary, shoot at them. I don’t care. If the word gets out that we are shooting at illegal alien invaders, there will be a reduced chance that they will try to invade our nation.
11) Begin immediate and public investigations into Cair, La Raza and any other group that wants to encourage our nation to be borderless. That’s not patriotic. We have borders. They are supposed to be enforced. Don’t like it? Then why are you here exactly? Is it because you thought America was the place where dreams can come true? How long will that continue if we allow everyone and anyone in without documentation, intent to become American, and who send their illegally earned wages out of country the first chance they get?
Stay in school, get your high school diploma, work smarter by learning more, it’s all for the children (that we $pend $pend $pend on $choolteacher$)…
Well, hell. And from the same idiots, if you’ve no education or skills worth a damn, can’t read, write, or speak English, but if you’re fast enough to swim a river, hop a fence, lie, steal and swindle your way to anyplace in the US (or just pay a coyote…) you deserve a place here.
Whatever shall our kids think? What will they think in 10 years, 20 years?
Meanwhile, Allentown Pennsylvania will have a Hispanic majority within four years. And we’re probably not alone in our march towards full blown Democratic Socialism powered by the spanish speaking.
Yeah, so America is a continent, not a country. Well, actually it’s two continents if you want to get picky about it, which apparently these people do. When it suits them.
The United States of America is a country, though.
So when Islamists chant “Death to America”, do they mean everyone on both continents? Do they want to sink the land mass(es)? What? ? ?????
Lol Southernboy. Don’t get bitter because you got pwn3d.
Everyone on this site called you on your logical contradictions and inability to adequately defend your position.
You and Morris Dees belong together.
For a touching example of PRCalDude’s views, see the following:
http://lionofjudah.squarespace.com/journal/2007/11/6/bannings-islamization-balkanization-iii.html
Sorry southernboy…I’ve got to call you out as a troll my man. If you’re going to come on a VERY conservative blog and be a polemicist, then you need to man up and own your liberalism. Folks around here will still consider you a troll, but at least you’ll be an honest one.
Who is Morris Dees?
Morris Dees is a civil rights lawyer who founded the Southern Poverty Law Center. His primary claim to fame springs from his legal fights against neo-Nazi groups and other white supremacist organizations. Click on PRCalDude’s handle on one of his posts and read some of his blog entries. Once you do that, I think you’ll understand his use of Morris Dees as an “insult” against you.
Hmmm yeah I googled Morris Dees, I am honored to be compared to this man!
Andres Oppenheimer just cannot bring himself to say illegal alien, can he? All he can muster is “undocumented alien”, even though the actions he insinuates they might take would certainly also be illegal too, in addition to the fashion they violated U.S. laws to enter this country.
Let’s hope Shuler and Bilbray and successful at getting some decent immigration reform pushed through Congress. We certainly could use it.
I was placing you in the same category with Morris Dees as a lying liberal who carelessly throws around racism charges. I can see how a liberal like yourself would take that as a compliment, however.
You geniuses are aware that you’re on the site of a woman who wrote a book entitled, “In Defense of Internment,” aren’t you? Seems odd then that you would attack me for holding many of the same views that Michelle does. Just sayin.
It’s also bizarre that you’re so enamored with the Southern Poverty Law Center, which lists VDARE.com as a hate site. Michelle’s articles appear at VDARE, and her old site linked to them.
Perhaps the DU or DailyKos would be more appropriate venues for your particular brand of conservatism.
I’ve got a better idea, if you’ve got a beef with something I’ve said on my blog, why don’t you criticize me on my blog, or on yours if it exists? Why not leave the criticism of commenters on this post to the substance of things they’ve actually said RELATED to the post? Etiquette certainly doesn’t seem to be your strong suit.
Again, your insults do not work, because I am PROUD as a Christian man to be compared to Morris Dees, a civil rights lawyer who has singlehandedly bankrupted several white supremacy organisations.
Good for you!
Yeah. What you didn’t read is here:
“The Center earned $44 million last year alone–$27 million from fund-raising and $17 million from stocks and other investments–but spent only $13 million on civil rights program , making it one of the most profitable charities in the country.”
and
“In 1987, Dees won a $7 million judgment against the United Klans of America on behalf of Beulah Mae Donald, whose son was lynched by two Klansmen. The UKA’s total assets amounted to a warehouse whose sale netted Mrs. Donald $51,875. According to a groundbreaking series of newspaper stories in the Montgomery Advertiser, the SPLC, meanwhile, made $9 million from fund-raising solicitations featuring the case, including one containing a photo of Michael Donald’s corpse.”
and this:
“The SPLC’s “other important work justice” consists mainly in spying on private citizens who belong to “hate groups,” sharing its files with law-enforcement agencies, and suing the most prominent of these groups for crimes committed independently by their members-a practice that, however seemingly justified, should give civil libertarians pause. The legal strategy employed by Dees could have put the Black Panther Party out of business or bankrupted the New England Emigrant Aid Company in retaliation for crimes committed by John Brown.”
and of course, this:
” in 1971, founded the SPLC, where his compensation has risen in proportion to fund-raising revenues, from nothing in the early seventies to $273,000 last year. A National Journal survey of salaries paid to the top officers of advocacy groups shows that Dees earned more in 1998 than nearly all of the seventy-eight listed, tens of thousands more than the heads of such groups as the ACLU, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and the Children’s Defense Fund. The more money the SPLC receives, the less that goes to other civil rights organizations, many of which, including the NAACP, have struggled to stay out of bankruptcy. Dees’s compensation alone amounts to one quarter the annual budget of the Atlanta-based Southern Center for Human Rights, which handles several dozen death-penalty cases a year. “You are a fraud and a conman,” the Southern Center’s director, Stephen Bright, wrote in a 1996 letter to Dees, and proceeded to list his many reasons for thinking so, which included “your failure to respond to the most desperate needs of the poor and powerless despite your millions upon millions, your fund-raising techniques, the fact that you spend so much, accomplish so little, and promote yourself so shamelessly.” Soon the SPLC win move into a new six-story headquarters in downtown Montgomery, just across the street from its current headquarters, a building known locally as the Poverty Palace. ”
You SHOULD be proud to be associated with such a ‘great’ man.
I still am.
