Tinfoil rattler of the day: NYTimes on the supposed risks of hiring Rosie O’Donnell

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 6, 2007 12:57 PM

It’s conservative talk radio that’s being targeted by the Democrat majority, but in NYTimes world, it’s MSNBC and GE that supposedly face horrible risks for considering Rosie O’Donnell as its next cable TV hire.

Only in NYTimes world, kids. Only in NYTimes world.

One would think that trotting out left wing loonies might help the ratings. If that is true, then explain why all the liberal media outlets (and that is nearly ALL media outlets) are declining. Only talk radio and the internet are growing in audience.

Fox has nearly put CNN out of business and they did it by being exactly what they claim “Fair & Balanced”. Calling Fox biased is factually dead wrong but when you see the world from so far left, the middle is a long way off.

What I can’t figure out is why these corporations don’t attempt to capitalize on Fox’s success. Incorporate some solid conservative voices & faces then watch the ratings soar. Using a dweeb like Carlson or an irritating personality like Novak as token conservatives isn’t going to attract people. Fox has plenty of liberals for balance but the difference is, the conservatives are articulate not objectionable.
Repeating what has clearly failed in the past hoping for a different result will only end with the same result…..failure

This will be what happens if Rosie gets a show on MsNBC. The main stream media will play it up as the next great liberal bastion of news. Men, conservatives etc will be blamed for it failure and how MsNBC never gave a host like Rosie a real shot. Then it will be the start of the next great liberal hope.

These networks will do ANYTHING for ratings. This would be the worse decision MSNBC ever made if they want to be taken seriously. People like Rosie are simply extreme radicals who crave media attention. She makes democrats and so called liberals look bad, because lazy mined people on the right assume that Rosie spouts mainstream views of the Democratic Party. At this point in her life, Rosie isn’t qualified to do anything requiring any skill(she was good a stand up once, eons ago).

One of the reason I believe Fox News has an extreme right wing bias is because they try to make the “left” look bad, by putting wack jobs on Hannity and B.O.R like The New Black Panther Party Clown, Code Pink, and other radicals. When Hannity had the Westboro Baptist Church clan, the lying piece of trash called them “left wingers” They never have extremists from the “right” on these shows, so the goal is obvious to smear the left by tainting their image with asinine radicals.

Rosie is an asinine radical, and has 0 credibility. If Fox put her own, I’d be making the same claims I make when they put on the fools I mentioned above. If MSNBC wants to give her, her own freaken show, they are essentially “bojangling” and “bamboozeling” their own ideology.

Perhaps I didn’t make my point clearly, but O’Reilly and Hannity never have ding bat right wing loons on their shows, but only the ones from the left. They do often have moderate democrats that disagree with them, but they never showcase the right wing zealots like they do the left wing zealots.

Hannity does have Colmes, but it’s Hannity’s show, and Hannity decides the topics and agenda. Geraldo is on his own planet, and the liberals don’t claim him any more than conservatives.
If any of you are bored do a little experiment, and for a month, count how many segments on Fox News show a democratic politician in a positive light. I mean the main topic of the segment. Do the same thing for republican politicians. Also, do the same thing for “negative” impact segments in regards to the politicians from the 2 parties. It’s plain as day. Don’t just focus on Olbermann, B.O.R., and Hannity, but rather all of the shows.

I’m a democrat, and I’ll go on record and say that MSNBC leans to the left. Foxnews most certainly leans to the right. Not a single person w/ a straight face, can tell me that FoxNews, holds democrats in the same regard as they do republicans. It can certainly be entertaining, but it’s not objective journalism.

I remember about 17 or 18 years ago, I was flipping through channels on cable TV while house-sitting for a professor; I caught just a few minutes of a show entitled, “Comedy Spotlight,” featuring one of the most annoying an unfunny [sic] hosts I had ever seen, and I thought to myself how sad it must be to know you have no chance at a career in show-business when you have no discernible talent. Fast forward to 2007… Rosie has had more opportunities laid at her feet and more press coverage than some of the most influential people of our time. How is this possible? For awhile, I chalked it up to the “freak show factor;” that people are drawn to sensationalism. But now I think the MAJORITY of our population is a part of the show, and giving people like Rosie O’Donnell so much face time is just par for the course… another example of how quickly we are spiraling out of control in our values and integrity in this country.

P.S. I still have hope that Conservatism is the real majority here, and that we’ve just been too conservative to cry for entitlements and attention as the media, Hollywood, and the left, in general. If my hope is true, at some point we WILL get back to some sort of “Main Street America” someday, won’t we? At least I can take some comfort in knowing that my TV is rarely on these days, let alone on MSNBC.

Seriously, she’ll pull some curiousity ratings for a bit, particularly from loyal Dims looking to boost her ratings. Hal Turner, Michael Savage, the people who have written to and support Richard Rudolph. As a counterpoint to the New Black Panther Party he could put on some Aryan Nation or KKK leaders to get their thoughts on Obama or the Duke rape case. That’s just a start. They are out there, and some of the right winger nutjobs would make Ann Coulter look like Jane Fonda, but Hannity and B.O.R stray away from them in favor of the “left wing loons”.

Go Buckeyes. I don’t think we’ll get any national respect unless we play and beat LSU. Ohio State D. S. is out there. It’s been a glorious season thus far.

Hey Buck you have to remember that BO has Demo operatives on almost daily. Kirsten Powers is not exactly a Pinko Liberal, other operatives from the democrats are on his show daily as well. Besides MNSBC, you have all the other networks that lean to the liberal side of the democrat party while only one as you say leans to the right. Also the far right wing zealots don’t have the media control like the demos do, and while we are at it what has the KKK been doing lately? Seems like the last 20 years its pretty dead in the water

87% of journalist that work on the major networks admit that they are liberal democrats. It’s not a big leap to conclude that there is a left bias. Editorial shows can tend to follow the leanings of there “stars” that’s one thing but, hard news programs should report the news. B.Goldberg’s book “Bias” is a good book on the subject written by someone with definite inside knowledge.

Can’t we just ignore her? Its not like she hosts any important shows or her opinions matter. If everybody including the blogosphere were to ignore Rosie, she’ll fade faster than Greg Kinnear.

MSNBC’s ratings have already been headed toward the sewer. I guess they just want to stay the course.

I would love to see them put her how head-to-head in the same time slot as The O’Reilly Factor and see her tenure quickly go down in flames. ;-)

So, what is MSNBC going to do once the Bush admin are gone? Going to be fun to watch. But I suppose the next republican president and new house and senate members will be enough.

I guess we agree that Fox News leans to the right. I’ll concede the most of the MSM leans to the left. I’d say the KKK and Aryan Nation have about as much relevance and media control as the New Black Panther Party(who seem to get most of their exposure from Fox News). Hal Turner and Michael Savage are pretty relevant and influential.

The whole attack on talk radio is sickening. Who DOESN’T know the democrats are going after it because it’s mostly conservative? Seriously, there are so many liberals out there that need EVERYTHING from the government. Radio is a business, and the left isn’t known for that or for being able to manage budgets–in key cases at least.
