If this be the politics of pile on, play on!

The blue-on-blue pile on continues. Bill Clinton tries to play gallant knight, for once, for his wife, and it is blowing up in his smug, bloated face. Schadenfreude tastes so sweet in the morning, doesn’t it?

On Monday, in defense of his wife against political critics, Bill Clinton cited the “swift boat” television ads of the 2004 presidential campaign that questioned John Kerry’s patriotism and the campaign commercials in 2002 that suggested Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia was soft on terrorism.

Obama told The Associated Press he was “stunned” to hear Clinton make the comparison. Both Kerry, who commanded a Navy swift boat in Vietnam, and Cleland, who lost three limbs in that war, are decorated veterans who were defeated by Republicans.

Obama said Hillary Clinton contradicted herself at the end of a Democratic presidential debate last week when asked whether she supported a plan by the New York governor to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. This week, the Illinois senator and former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina have repeatedly reproached her on that subject.

“How you would then draw an analogy to distorting somebody’s military record is a reach,” Obama said.

Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, another candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, called the Clintons’ response to the debate “outrageous.”

“To have the former president come out and suggest this is a form of swift boating … is way over the top in my view,” Dodd said in a telephone interview.

Looks like even the Dems have grown tired of the lip-biting Clinton victim card.

Not so swift anymore, Billy Boy.

As for the analogy, I define “swift-boating” as exposing hard truths about corrupt Democrats. Let the “swift-boating” continue!

Precisely. The democrats have always wanted to spend the “peace dividend” on all sorts of their favorite projects. They’ve never learned the wisdom of or the reason for the words “In time of peace, prepare for war.” During their time in power the democrats weakened the military and then accused Bush of going to war with an inadequately equipped army. I cannot vote for the democrats because I cannot trust them with our national defense.

By all means check the bent one for bruises, cuts, etc after she gets through castigating him. He has made her look pretty ineffective and certainly lacking the stuff that a leader is expected to have - but we all knew that.

Those Clintons have a lot of nerve. Does she expect the other democratic candidates to just lay down and allow her to be annointed?

AJ… You crack me up. Love the Shuttle and glad they made it home safe and sound.

DL… Gonna miss you. Have a great flight. Love your analysis of these two. If Bill would bomb an aspirin factory to deflect attention from his sexual depravity what will Kilary do when it’s her turn at the plate.

I know what team she’s playing on and she is definately a switch hitter who is more likely to lay down a bunt with her assistant than swinging for, or on, the fence.

Allright, that’s just damn funny. Any candidate that wears that on a t-shirt will jump in the polls. Good stuff.

Thacker, as much as I love this country, the rest of you can’t have Jindal, at least not yet! Those of us in Louisiana need him desperately to bring some sanity to this state. Give him a few years to straighten out the mess here and he’ll be more than ready to take on anything in DC

Does anyone recall an ad that compared Max Cleland with Osama & Saddam? Must be ‘true’ because Bubba said so in his speech:

When there was an ad that defeated Max Cleland in Georgia, a man that left half his body in Vietnam. And a guy that led several departments … with Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden because he dared to vote against the president’s version of the Homeland Security bill. Most Americans still don’t know the truth. The president was against the Homeland Security Bill for 8 1/2 months. And Karl Rove told him they were going to lose the 2002 election unless the American people were scared about terror again. So they decided to be for a bill they opposed. And they put a poison pill in it. That bill was designed by the president to take the job rights away from 170,000 federal employees that had no access to secure information, no access to secure technology. No business being treated like CIA. We need to be able to fire CIAs. .. But we don’t need to treat secretaries at FEMA that way. The whole thing was a scam.

So Max Cleland said, I didn’t go to Vietnam and leave one arm and two legs to come home and hold my job by stripping the job rights of 170,000 good, hardworking Americans. I don’t want to do it. So they put an ad on comparing him to Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden.

Also, is it just me or is Bubba rambling?
