Impeachment: The stage production

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 9, 2007 03:00 PM

1noose1.jpg If you think the impeachment circus is finished, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Screenwriter Richard Lasser and constitutional lawyer Bruce Fein have written an impeachment play that will debut in Washington, D.C. at George Washington U. when Congress returns from Christmas vacation. They’ve been meeting with moonbat lawmakers and contacting celebrities to cast and perfect the January 2 production. Dennis Kucinich is the casting director.

According to Lasser, Denny K has “forwarded copies to Sean Penn, Ed Asner, Hector Elizondo and Ed Begley, Jr.” All-star, baby.

Good news is: If they can’t get any actors to pitch in, they can always use giant puppets.

Liz Mair e-mails a heads-up that Republican congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina is involved in this left-wing theater of the absurd–on stage (he’ll be portrayed as one of characters conducting the trial of George Bush) and in real life. Note this report from September on Lasser’s blog:

Last week in Washington DC, highly-sought after constitutional lawyer Bruce Fein took me to meet with Jerrold Nadler, (D New York) and Walter Jones (R North Carolina), two Congressmen highly critical of the President’s illegal and unconstitutional activities. In an interview adjoining House Chambers, Congressman Nadler and I discussed what sorts of questions he would ask in a hypothetical trial and what arguments the defense might advance. His questions would be devastating if he ever got Bush on the witness stand (which actually happens in the play!) In Congressman Jones’ office, the soft-spoken Southern gentleman suggested questions he would ask, helping me with this aspect of the play. He indicated he would enthusiastically support the impeachment resolution…

Jones was one of four Republicans in favor of sending Kucinich’s resolution to the House Judiciary Committee.

Lasser explains the title of the impeachment play, “I”:

“I” of course, stands for impeachment. But more importantly, it is the personal pronoun that refers to each one of us. And unless each of us puts pressure on Congress to impeach President Bush, it just won’t happen. As Bush states in the play: “450,000 telegrams told President Nixon he was wrong. 2,000,000 phone calls demanded action. No one’s contacted me except Jenna to tell me she was getting married.”

Not only has Bush committed impeachable crimes; not only has Congress been complicit; but you and I, unless we put pressure on Congress, will bear the ultimate blame. The only way Congress will act is if we make them. That’s the purpose of “I” — to create such a groundswell of publicity that they must act or risk getting humiliated, or even voted out of office for failing to heed the will of all the “I’s” in America.

Idiotarian” starts with “I,” too.

Exit stage left…

The constitution specifically places the conduct of foreign relations in the hands of the President, with the senate having the responsibility to ratify treaties. When San Fran Nan went to Syria last summer to conduct “meetings” with the dictator Bashir Al Assad she violated U.S. law and usurped the powers of the presidency. This is an IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE. Where are the calls for HER impeachment?

Obviously, the media adoring congressional Idiots are hoping that they can provide the ‘evidence’ of impeachment via staging a play.

I can see why Bush wouldn’t want to waste the people’s money trying SanFran Nan on her treasonous and impeachable visit. I just wish for once, he would grow some strong ones and fight back.

Let’s get the RINO’s out of office. Rep. Jones can make his acting debut in this play, and maybe he’ll go to hollywood and leave DC..

If they impeached presidents for this, all of them would have been impeached. This does not fall under the “high crimes and misdemeanors” necessarry to impeach.
Alot of generals would have gotten court martialed too.

My dictionary defines “lie” as making a statement that one knows as false. That implies that you have to know the truth before you can lie. And I have yet to find a credible source that states unequivocally that the U.S. (and other intelligence agencies elsewhere) knew there were NO WMDs. Hence no truth, no lie.

And the “urban myth” continues that we went to Iraq to find the perpetrators of 9/11. I can’t believe that misinformation continues to be circulating and believed by anyone.

Southernboy, I’m gonna explain it to you the same way I just got done explaining it to a confused Brit on another blog…

    Blah,blah,blah…WMD…blah,blah…Saddam….blah, blah, blah…whatever.

Bottom line is this: Due to our government being asleep at the wheel and ignoring Islamic extremists repeatedly telling us and showing us over the previous 15 years or so that they wanted to kill all of us, we got our ass handed to us on a platter on 9/11 because we did not take them seriously.
So then the president does the smart thing: he takes the fight to them. Look, these whackjobs are not going to just go away. They have proven that they want to kill you, they want to kill me, and they are willing to come here if they can to do it.
Going into Iraq did accomplish one thing that you are not thinking about — it created a “front” on which to fight the war that was not in a mall or playground near you. That, to me, was smart.
If we gotta fight these extremists (and yes, we do, ’cause you dang sure wouldn’t like the state of things if they were in charge), then I much rather the carnage be on their home turf than on mine.

    “Groundswell of publicity”? oh please.

Never let it be said that Liberals lack in egotism or self-image.

the real problem with Liberals is that each individual Liberal tthinks that if they feel or think something, that obviously everyone else in the country does too. To find out otherwise leaves them slack-jawed and wide-eyed, unable to comprehend the situation. The thought process is, “How can you NOT be for impeachment?” They never once see what something like that would do to this country in the eyes of the rest of the world, to or economy, to our soldiers that they so strongly support, to the judiciary, to the Constitution or anything else. Since they operate off of pure emotion, all they care about it how it makes them feel; if it makes them feel good to imagine Bush being “frog-marched” out of the Oval Office, then obviously everyone would feel that way too and after all, it is more important and better to feel good than actually have good things occur.

What modern day Liberals are, are the end result of all the mind-altering drugs either ingested by themselves, or their parents. The children of “The Greatest Generation” were spoiled beyond belief by parents who endured the Depression and a global war where 50 million people were slaughtered. Their parents never wanted their children to want for anything, and thus the entitlement mentality was born, leading to hippies, yippies and dippies, tuning in, turning on, dropping out and spitting on the very tenents that their parents fought so hard for. unfortunately, eventually they did start to run the country, as well as breed. thus you have he wannabe hippies you see today. They try to use the same slogans, posters and tactics their parents used when they marched in protest to Nixon and the Vietnam war, trying to hold on to what Hollywood and the media over-glamorized. Thank God that there are X-Geners like myself and others here and elsewhere who knew better. We were able to grow up being influenced by Reagan and seeing the evils of Liberalism, accept personal responsibility and refused to adhere to the spoiled brats that are the Baby Boomers and Me Gens.

Now, obviously if there are Baby-Boomers here or Me Geners, I am excluding you from this analogy. It only relates to the Liberals and NOT the Conservatives.

This is why they are so into this whole Impeachment thing. They have wanted to impeach a Republican President ever since they failed to impeach Nixon. Every time a Republican is in the White House, calls for impeachment will echo troughout the land. Then, when we successfully impeached their false god for his lies and intimidation in court, that only incensed them into revenge instead of just nostalgia.

This play is just the latest in a series of events in their misguided view of poiics and the geo-political landscape. they will never be able to comprehend the complexities of the world, nor the enemies we face. They are too involved with trying to relive the bygone era of the Sixties, or trying to reinvent it since it looks so cool in the movies. Totally a pathetic way of life, but you just can’t tell them anything.

I can really appreciate what Lincoln and Gen. Sherman endured from the traitorous press during Civil War.
Anyway I for one won’t spend one cent on Hollywood’s sedition and treason. What is the genesis of mass intellectual dishonesty? And why can’t people see from history how screwed up their ideas really are?
I also think trolls like southern boy might feel more at home at DU/Daily KOS and Huffington.
