Hillary’s control freak campaign: The politics of planting questions
Update: Another one!
***
Looks like FEMA crapweasels aren’t the only ones faking questions for the public.
Remember when Hillary launched her presidential campaign by touting her folksy bid to start a “conversation–with you, with America?” We knew it was phony baloney, but not this phony baloney:
The Iowa caucuses are known for their “living-room chats” where ordinary Iowans can meet candidates face-to-face and talk about what interests voters. When candidates have larger events or make major policy speeches, the crowds are bigger, but there is often still an opportunity for questions. But under the pressures of major media coverage, with polls narrowing in Iowa, campaigns can potentially control questions and coverage by planning questions ahead of time.
While no campaigns admit to this practice, at a recent Hillary Clinton campaign event in Newton, Iowa, some of the questions posed to the New York Senator were planned in advance, planting some audience members in the crowd.
On Tuesday Nov. 6, the Clinton campaign stopped at a biodiesel plant in Newton as part of a weeklong series of events to introduce her new energy plan. The event was clearly intended to be as much about the press as the Iowa voters in attendance, as a large press core helped fill the small venue. Reporters from many major national news outlets came to the small Iowa town, from such media giants as The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press, and CNN.
After her speech, Clinton accepted questions. But according to Grinnell College student Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff ’10, some of the questions from the audience were planned in advance. “They were canned,” she said. Before the event began, a Clinton staff member approached Gallo-Chasanoff to ask a specific question after Clinton’s speech. “One of the senior staffers told me what [to ask],” she said.
Major Garrett at FNC zeroes in on the scripted query:
The tape of the event shows that the question and answer went as follows:
Question: “As a young person, I’m worried about the long-term effects of global warming How does your plan combat climate change?
Clinton: “Well, you should be worried. You know, I find as I travel around Iowa that it’s usually young people that ask me about global warming.”
The campaign’s admission that it planted the question may be another blow to the New York senator’s image as a trustworthy politician.
Clinton’s critics have accused her of being a double-talker who refuses to answer tough questions specifically. Now her campaign has acknowledged planting at least one question.
The Democrat-on-Democrat pile-on continues. Grab your popcorn for a ringside seat:
“In light of a weak debate performance, not to mention a persistent inability to answer the tough questions, it appears the Clinton campaign has adopted a new strategy of planting questions,” John Edwards’ Communications Director Chris Kofinis said.
“It’s what the Clinton campaign calls the politics of planting.”
And more:
The practice of planting audience members to ask specific questions does not appear to be a common practice, or at least not a politically acceptable one. “Our campaign does not plant questions,” said Lauren Rose, Communications Director for Governor Bill Richardson’s campaign. When asked what she would think of other campaigns who did plant audience members, Rose said, “I think campaigns should give Iowa caucus-goers the chance to ask the questions they want.”
Schadenfreude. It’s what’s for breakfast.

Once again, Senator Clinton refuses to acknowledge wrong-doing and to accept responsibility for her actions and her handlers’ actions. No where in these articles did she or her handlers admit that planting questions was wrong. They just simply said it won’t be done again. As the kids say, she got “busted” and now she’s doing the typical Clinton damage control. If she hadn’t been “busted” she wouldn’t have said a thing. She would have kept on planting questions to make her look good. She obviously cannot be trusted to tell the truth on the campaign trail, on her marriage, on her finances, on her role as First Lady, on religion, on tipping waitresses, or any other topic. Yet, she has the audacity to expect the citizens of the United States to trust her to tell the truth if she becomes president.
Why does this not surprise me? Bill O has been saying all along that Hillary prefers softball Q&A sessions. Put her in front of some of FNC’s tough questioners and see how she does.
And as far as this being “another blow to the New York senator’s image as a trustworthy politician”, that’s an image she has never had with me.
Since WHEN has this woman been regarded as a “trustworthy” politician? How can Americans be so stupid to even consider her as a serious candidate for president? And those claims that she’s the smartest woman in America? Please, don’t insult me.
#2-
Same here- I actually think of the term “trustworthy politician” as an oxymoron.
I think it’s interesting that the Edwards campaign is complaining — Elizabeth Edwards was “outed” by Air America for providing reporters with suggested questions as recently as last month.
And now that we know the real identity of Hillary’s questioner, how can we not be sympathetic? (Hint — scroll to the end)
Why would she need this plant or any others? With the exception of Time Russert and the illegal immigrant license question, it seems every question I see her answer has been asked by a plant. She is only challenged in the most very narrow sense, asked for specifics and or given the rough handling that a national politician routinely face, (as they should.) She has as much to fear from the MSM as Soviet leaders did from their press corps.
I heard Hillary will have a supporting role in the new Wizard of Oz… commanding the flying monkeys.
I think Hillary could take a gun out of her purse and shoot an Iowan in the head and some people would stubbornly vote for her while on death row.
Some folks will continue to excuse any Clinton behavior, hopefully reasonable Americans will also continue to discover the real Clinton’s in all of their despicable glory.
Now we understand. It seems the soil at Fox News Channel is not as fertile for planting, so no questions from there.
Let’s have a dialogue!
Clinton is simply the political equivalent of a Three Card Monte dealer with less integrity.
Let’s not kid ourselves. Every politician loves softball questions. The only difference here is that the MSM supports asking softball questions to the Wicked Witch of the East. They know that if her true colors show, she’ll be seen as unelectable. So they go along with it.
If the gov’t would release a copy of the Barrett Report that is only redacted for security, we’d all get to see what type of control freak she really is.
I still want to know which staffer planted Hillary’s Rose Law Firm records on the table outside her White House office right after the statute of limitations expired on the Whitewater investigation.
Will James Carville now tell us that someone dragged a $100 bill through a trailer park in Iowa to find someone to embarras Hillary.
#4 Katie in FL
I think there are some trustworthy politicians, but unfortunately very few of them. Our political system doesn’t seem to produce many of them. Even when our elected officials seem trustworthy it behooves us to keep an eye on them.
Often it is a mixed bag. I have a great deal of trust in President Bush to go after the terrorists. As Dennis Miller said, he’s the terrorists worst nightmare. However, he has let us down on illegal immigration and has been rightfully called under the carpet for it.
Folks,
None of this surprises this New Yorker. Hillary uses whatever and whomever is necessary to get closer to the prize, the White House. She used my great state as the spring board for her race to the WH. She cares about NY about as much as she cares for Monica Lewinsky. We were her gravy train.
Choosing NY as the place to run for Senate was just as calculated as following up the last debate with an event at Welsley and the planting of questions in Iowa.
As soon as the rest of the country starts to peel back the cosmetic layers of Hillary and get to the core of who she really is, they will realize what we in NY already know, Hillary only cares about Hillary (and Bill, sometimes).
-Marc
Hillary learned her Machiavellian tactics at the knee of the MASTER, the great Bubba! Whenever Bill got in trouble, out came the quivering lip and the claims that “they’re all out to get me”. Its classic misdirection; evade, ignore, deny and moveon…..org
If she were a Republican it would be al over the news. And I will speculate that her opponets are too cowardly to use the admission.
Someone needs to look at past video of ALL of her Q&A’s.
Watch shillary’s maidens in the audience guiding the Shill to people who have the ‘correct’, easy, and planned(&planted) questions.
I bet they’re ubiquitous as dandelions in spring.
#18 pushiawa, MM’s post included comments by Edwards and Richardson. These may be one shot deals, though. I hope others take up the story.
How many times must we publicly “pants” these grifters before their eloi-like followers get the exposed, dangling participles of their con game message? (Sorry for the spew-worthy imagery.)
.
I’m still mystified by the Shillary’s answer…
HOW? How could that be?????
It keeps me up at night wondering….
What I can’t understand is why the “smartest woman in the world” or her handlers thought they would even have to plant that particular question. Even without prompting some leftist whackdoodle was almost sure to bring this one up.
#22
I also notice that she didn’t really answer the question.
Guess she can plant questions, but not tips for waitresses….
La la la…
Knock three times on the mic for loaded questionssss
Twice on your ear , tap tap,

My undergraduate years were spent at a small college in Iowa, and it was a great chance to talk to presidential candidates during the caucuses. I met several candidates from both parties and voted in my first presidential election in 1980 during my sophomore year. My candidate won!
What’s next for the Senator Lady Macbeth from New York? She already has all of the free media she could ever want, with sycophantic liberal journalists panting over her so one wonders just how much lower she can sink.
She doesn’t care about the 75% voters here in NY . I am sure they are not all rep.she just fliped us all off. Shut up I know what is best!!!
Thanks you Muriel for exposing this act of deceit. I’m sure others have told the media about being approached by Clinton’s staff to ask questions but the media just ignored them. A duplicitous act on their part.
The Clintons must have an acting coach on the payroll.Everything I see them do looks like it was rehearsed.I’ve never understood how they kept getting away with it but maybe the old horse is out of the barn after this last week. This stuff must be pounded on day after day.
Hillary’s January 1998, NBC Today Show Interview Regarding Monica Lewinsky:
Eight months and millions of taxpayers’ dollars later, “this” played out and the entire country finally had “more information.”
This woman simply can’t answer a question because of who she is and what she stands for.
Hmmm…I wonder how many people in the crowd got passed over why might have had legitimate, “real” questions.
Thank God for FNC. To everyone else this was just business as usual.
#14 — no doubt Carville will recycle that imaginary $100 bill that was supposed to go to the Iowa waitress.
Was not Tim Russert a satisfactory plant.
Thank God we a have a president who would never stoop so low.
The great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is Hillary’s choice of political vocabulary.
Someone on another blog noted that Hillary is always “fighting” for this, or has been “fighting” all her life for that. Why is she always fighting, and who is she always fighting?
Same thing with this “you should be worried” line to the college student. I smell a future book title, “Hillary Clinton’s Politics of Fear”.
How’s that for parsing words?
The operative sentence in her prepared response is “Well, you should be worried.” Yeah, worried that she would ever be in position to “rule” over all her subjects! The only converstation she wants is ONE WAY…let’s have a conversation indeed!!!
With all of the truths coming out about Hillary, the unfortunate thing is the voters who intend to support her won’t accept that she is as dishonest as she has been proven to be.Democrats just seem to be able to (in their own minds)justify anything the Clintons do,or convince themselves that everyone else is lying.
#35 BrianNY
Her frequent use of “fighting” has always bothered me as well, but I would say this is not limited to her. Democrats are always talking about how they are fighting for this right or that group. That is if they are not talking about protecting children or the elderly or worse yet, veterans. It is very revealing of the condescending view they have of the general public, as well as their paranoid view of the world around them.
The Clinton Campaign are skilled in the art of turd polishing, achieving the highest possible “dull luster” from their oh-so-smelly candidate.
Yes, there are multiple stories of “fighting” in the White House, on the campaign trail, with staffers, etc. And the campaign staff got stiffed because they planted the wrong question to little Timmy Russert, liberal weasel that he is. Timmy boy now is trying to redeem his tarnished image to the Clinton machine. Who planted the Rose law firm records mysteriously in the White House? Yes, Hilariously, inquiring minds want to know. Unfortunately too many twisted, closed, liberal minds blindly blunder onward championing this windbag in a pants suit.
Years ago I remember reading a questionnaire my Dad had to fill out for an upcoming reunion.
He’s always been a humble man who’s achievements far outmatched what he’d ever claim.
The question that struck me was this:
“What are your pet-peeves?”
He wrote:
Bill and Hillary in no particular order!
(yes he used the exclamation point)
At the time it made me laugh but now it just makes me mad.
Karma needs to come-a-calling on their door — and soon.
No surprise… look at what happened when she was asked a question she didn’t rehearse the answer to. lol!
Here is a sign to look for to see if a question is planted- if the person asking the question is a plant they will preface the question by declaring the group they are allegedly representing, example: “I am a young person…” Really?! I thought you were here from AARP!
Look for more questions to come by people who say. I am a Veteran, I am a single mother, I am a victim of Bush’s policies, blah, blah, blah.
Hillary keeps fighting for this and that…
Has she ever won any of these fights? Apparently not. She’s too busy going mirror mirror on the wall…
It was only a short time ago Hillary had someone ask her a question she didn’t like and accused the questioner of being a plant by the opposition. She later apologized to gentleman who asked the question, but up until that point she insisted that she had run into repeated “planted questioners” as being the reason for her reaction to the gentleman.
So to really make it simple for her I propose that opposition parties send people to her campaign stops wearing tshirts that clearly identify them of being from other groups and ask the questions that the press won’t ask or see if she blocks out participation of any body but her supporters.
After all look at the stops Republicans do they answer questions from all comers.
Mitt and Rudy and Fred have taken questions from all sides even the truthers and stood their ground well.
I doubt that Hillary would be able to do so.
Update: FNC’s Major Garrett has an exclusive of more question planting. Investigation ongoing.
From another thread, a fitting discription, “a pig in pant suits.” You can’t put enough lipstick on that pig.
Shadin’ Freud.
Uh huh.
Why am I not surprised that Senator Clinton would plant a question? This lady is a unique piece of work. She has all the heart and soul of a reticulated python that hasn’t eaten for about a year.
BTW I really like that term “crap weasel.” Rolls off the tongue nicely and it’s pleasing to the ear, in a different sort of way.
Go, Michelle!
Tim Russert not included.
Typical liberal politician-interested only in power and nothing else. She won’t represent this country anywhere; just herself. As far as global warming is concerned, they were showing newsreels back in the early 30s, about the polar ice caps melting and the demise of the polar bears. 1 84-year gentleman stated that he’s been through so many global warming and global cooling crisises, he can’t keep count.

From appearance, it must be the same coach that John Kerry used:
1. spooky “Kim Ill Jong” hand claps while walking around stage, thus prolonging forced ovations.
2. Exaggerated stares and grins while acknowledging unspecified individuals out of a crowd of hundreds.
3. Pointing to same unspecified individuals while covering one’s heart, thus implying that you are eternally grateful for something that those individuals did.
4. Clasping hands in prayer and bowing towards audience like a Buddhist monk.
These predictable stage gestures are always a source of laughter for my family. We wonder if others feel the same.

These two, known to honest people as crapweasels, known to everyone else as the Clintons will do anything, and I do mean anything to get and keep power.
They are the most dangerous people in the world except for maybe Islamic Jihadists and I’m not too sure they aren’t just as bad. In fact, I bet that if she’s elected, her first term will not be over before she surrenders us to Islam.
I hope I’m wrong but I wouldn’t put anything past these two. Just look at the list of dead bodies that are connected to their campaigns. The list includes police officers, lawyers, subordinates, lovers and others who thought they were in the inner circle.
Why else would Sandy Berger (the guy with the extra pockets and the XL socks) be a part of her campaign. Keep your enemies closer. She knows that he knows too much.

But I digress.
OT Update: Berekeley Barracudas Under 10 Soccer club finishes the fall season 10-0 with a forfeit by the all-illegal alien team. Looks like ICE got busy up in there last nite.
Back On Topic:
Hillary is going to melt like a Day of the Dead sugar skull left out in a November drizzle.
The Hsu scandal. Slow dribby drabby FEC red tape.
Pig piling on the PIAP Spitzer issue debacle.
Now the “Planted Questions”.
Candidates unravel a little at a time. Their personal base gets eaten away little by little until the campaign has to actually strategize all the new little holes being bored into her clay feet from within.
There are plenty of Clinton family scandals. I know we’d like to see Bubba and PIAP in jump suits- but these old scandals may not ever get picked up.
Hillary’s own shortcomings will undo her.
But it happens one little drop at a time. Erosion. It brings castles down the mountain.
No one is invulnerable in a campaign.
Sandy Berger= SB= TB
Do the math, America
The Clintons are the reason why the founding fathers wrote the second ammendment, to protect us from tyrants.
This is my pet peeve about *most* Moon Loons who have been in my classrooms and public lectures and workshops.
Their “faux” spiritualist appearance ripping off a philosophy that they try to sell as “religion”.
I was in Boulder, Colorado a few months back doing a workshop on reducing interracial discrimination. 300 people. Lots of workshoppy type exercises. Lots of Moon Loons doing the hand thing anytime somebody said something intelligent. Making their eyes roll up in their sockets like they were going to channel Guatama himself.
Puke.
Thanks for the explanation of the abbreviations, bear. I’m sure that will be helpful to some of our newcomers who may not have followed the thread(s) where those came into use.
I considered making a list of TB’s, giving such examples as Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Ted Kennedy, etc., but I realized it would be too long and far complete.
PIAP is such a heartless thug she usually puts her hand anywhere but in the heart region.
Her stage antics remind me of the beauty queen contestant who has to put vaseline on her teeth just to keep smiling- so unused to doing it in a genuine way.
PIAP also reminds me of a cheating student getting an “honors” award. Everyone knows she is lying her butt off.
And then, there is the archetypal snake in high school, whom everybody knows is a reptile, making her big entrance into the basketball gymnasium- of course, after the game is underway, pointing into the crowd and doing all the winky eyebrow raising “I’m in with the in crowd.”
But if ya turnaround to see where she’s pointin and lookin, one sees that no one is lookin back.
EEERRRRNTTTTT!!!!!!! Busted. Loser.
You’d think she’d talk about these things with her daughter What’s-her-Name, the overpaid consultant from Oxford.
Puke.
backwoodsConservative:
ya know, i love documentation of the enemy within. we could call it “backwoodsConservatives Kitchen Table List of TBs”.
It is such a great descriptive. I remember a picture covering an article in National Lampoon, with vague recollection- so rescue me if I am wrong- about the politics of “bullsh*t” in Washington. Sometime in the early 70s.
The picture showed streams of BS coming out of a cartoon nixon’s mouth, his phone, and wherever the lines lead, Kissinger, haldemann, erlich, dean etc
All the BS coming right out the mouth.
TB fits all of these domestic enemies to a T.

No rescue from here. I don’t recall that particular issue of National Lampoon. At that early stage of my life most of my knowledge of politics came from Mad Magazine.

This hasn’t really been big news. I just wonder how often we would hear about this if Bush or someone like that pulled a stunt like this.
Where there is fertilizer, there are plants. That much should be obvious, but will it matter? The wheels keep coming off the Clinton-semi, but the damn thing still hurtles down the road to the White House.
Like the OJ trial, where there was an eerie fascination in watching a man get away with murder, there is something uncanny is the way the Clinton’s get away with everything and anything. People seem to forget what they have done even as they do it.
BTW, has anyone read Kathleen Wiley’s book? It might make for a very interesting thread, but even Conservatives appear to be ignoring the book. That should convince us that liberals reign supreme in this country.
#72: see what I mean? She’s unraveling because she can’t just “let go”.
So she will be victim to DINOPA or the Dinesism on the Nature of Paradox which holds that the more one strives to create a certain effect, the liklihood increases that the opposite effect will occur.
PIAPS is overefforting. She is so bent on control and minimizing risk of failing to answer the tough questions- which is really her fear of being tacked down to a position or two-that she is creating the opposite effect.
The opposite effect from the one she wanted to create (controlling the questions and media sound bytes)is now PIAPS will have to demonstrate that she can “handle the tough questions”, which she obviously cannot because she is a scripted mannequin.
Bingo. PIAPS is creating the opposite effect of her intentions. Say Buh Bye!
Oh, another related Dinesism I love is “Trends continue until they end.”
PIAPS is feeding a trend with her recent history and current manipulations.
All of the crap PIAPS and Hubby Bubba have set in motion is, yep-you guessed it, still in motion.
Their paradox creating, overefforting momentum is so strong and well-financed that it is going to roll through the electorate’s living rooms like a slime-covered disco ball.
How fortunate for us that we are approaching the year of PIAPS so-hoped-for “rise to power” with that slime covered disco ball picking up speed.
Planted questions thought up by handlers with IQs less than geraniums. Classic.
Oh, before I forget, Dinesisms are the wisdom of James Dines. At a tender age in his 20s Dines ushered in the use of technical analysis among the Wall Street priesthoods in the late 60s. He was promptly run out of Wall Street.
Best thing ever to happen to him. Dines resides in the North Bay Area.
He recorded his Dinesisms in the book “The History of Mass Psychology” where he articulates his thesis that the stock markets are like a mass encephalogram of society.
The Dinesisms are a can’t miss practical guide to human behavior in almost every domain that we can experience. Worth adding to your libraries.
Bear has been sober for so long now that “the only bar i ever see got lettuce and tomato”….
all the best to you!
Your Ever Grateful Birthday Bear1909
aj- you continue to chisel away at the stone cold portraiture of the PIAPS TB.
nice touch.
Understanding democrats and their love of the Clintons: make no mistake, only the democrat women love her unconditionally. 60% of the democrat party are women and 40% are male. 20% of the democrat men will NOT vote for Hillary. while a certain majority of the women will vote for her ‘just because she is a woman’.
My guess is that they are hoping beyond all hopes that it will be Bill running things (behind the scenes). And, they will put up with Shrially PIAPS just so they can have Bill get around the Constitution and end up in the White House by hook or by crook.
Her campaign people are insisting that 18% of Republican Women will vote for her just because she is a woman. I am sorry, my guess is they don’t really know any Republican Women….
and let’s hope for this to become an election issue should she get the nomination.
The tough question: “Mrs. Clinton- given the fact that you are married to th ex-President Clinton (Cough) sewer rat (cough cough) what assurances can you give the Nation that you will be the chief executive of the United States and commander in chief in both title and decisionmaking?”
Tough question?
just ask her what size she is so we can fit her for a straight jacket.
PIAPS- back away slowly from the podium…..
PS: Erratum-
The Dines book title referred to in #76 is “Mass Psychology”
Yolk back atcha…birthday boy.

#75 BTW, has anyone read Kathleen Wiley’s book?
I just heard about it on H&C. Isn’t it just coming out or am I behind times? Will definitely look for it and read. I’ve already read several Hillary books so far this year.
I have an extensive wish list but can only read one at a time!
I just finished Michelles “Unhinged” (Also read Invasion) I dropped it off at the library this morning and picked up “The Deporter” and “Power to the People”
I’m on the waiting list for “Lone Survivor” and “World War IV”.
I’ll read it if I can get my hands on it!

I can relate to that.
One of Hillary’s major problems is to try to maintain a public persona that is very different from who she really is.
She is about the best I have ever seen at masking her true identity. That polish can only be maintained for so long without slipping up.
In a controlled environment, she is much better able to show what she thinks the American people want to see. Which is the reason for plant questions, viscious attacks on opponents and highly scripted interviews.
When she gets out of that environment, there is only so much preparation that she can conduct. When someone throws her something unexpected, as Russert did with his question on driver’s licenses for illegals, she cannot handle it.
If anything, that one incident should show America that if she does have an opinion on a subject, it will not be shared. If she cannot produce a scripted answer, she gives a non answer. And if it blows up in her face, she goes on to attack the messenger.
A President needs to be able to handle the unexpected; to think on his or her feet. Hillary has not demonstrated that ability in the least. She is indeed highly intelligent and undoubtedly ambitious. But those traits do not a leader make.
I havent read Wileys book yet either.
If you haven’t read “Unlimited Access” by FBI agent Gary Aldrich, its a must for real life info on billary in the white house. Nightmare on Penn.
atxcowgirl: I devoured WW4. Best summary of the “Bush Doctrine”.
“Wars of Blood and Faith” is a good follow-up. Ralph Peters swings for the fences. Series of his essays. Chock full of ammo. Even gives the venerable Mark Steyn a good run for his money on Muslims taking over Europe.
Big thumbs up to the Shooter
I put this one on my list, Shooter. Thanks for the tip.
#87 & #88 Thanks.
Wow more books to read. Will definitely check into them.
I read Hillary’s Scheme and Extreme Makeover of HRC. I read Her Way but after the first two that one seemed to leave out and gloss over a lot.
BTW how do you do that box?
Glad to hear her tHighness is having trouble covering her tracks. We all know she’s crooked, but its great to see some evidence of her perfidity make the news cycle every now and then.
Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone or anything can knock her out of the dem’s top spot and derail her candidacy. Still, the primaries are a lot like a demolition derby, where the winner is just the last one standing.
The more dings and dents she has at the end of the primaries, the greater the likelihood she’ll break down in the general election.
I can see it now: the PIAPS car barely moving, grill smashed in, gushing fluids, smoke pouring out of her rear end, a sitting duck, all lined up, ready to be t-boned and put out of our misery by the red 08 car.
aj wishin he was in the 08 car..

I cut and paste your info to the comment area, then highlite and click on quote.
For anything in quote box, highlite what you wrote, then click on ‘quote button’ above …
Use the same for BOLD, emphasis, etc.
