    No worries.
Happens to everyone sooner or later.
Don’t take this the wrong way,
but I was able to talk to a nice young lady on the phone today (only 2 years younger than me, 40 vs 42) and enjoyed a nice social life for once.
    So,
whereas you are my hero for what you do here,
it is kinda nice that I can still have a life
(when I’m not aggravating myself on sites like this).
    Hey,
    it’s all good.
Hope you’ve been able to have some time to enjoy your family today.

“People want war movies to have a slam-bang adventure feel to them … But Iraq is a difficult war to portray in a kind of rah-rah-rah, exciting way.

From the “Hollywood is casualty war” article (link courtesy of DannoJyd)

I can think of one angle– show the Marines fighting at First Fallujah and Second.

Then write up a script on “The Fall of Mookie al-Sadr”.

Sell em as a Director’s cut box set to a “micro-audience” that would appreciate them.

Mass marketing war flicks is dubious in this age where American moviegoers believe that Peace is the natural state of human beings.

    Pure folly.

Plus– how many of the script writers have ever even fired a bb gun or been huntin or to war?

Those who have and do aren’t getting any play in Hollywierd.

And furthermore….on the war movie bit:

make films that are controversial. “DeerHunter” was controversial. “Apocalypse Now” was controversial.

Films that incinuate the “America is Evil” mantra aren’t controversial nor are they even close to being rebellious in the status quo of socialist screen writers.

Controversial theme: A film that shows an opening graphic depiction of 9/11 with the shock value (based on reality) like the opening scenes of Normandy in “Saving Private Ryan”. No talking- just dying and hell breaking loose.

Then- move through scenes in Washington leading us through how World War 4 had been launched against the USA. Show the crushing of the Left by the will of the American people by the actions of leaders civilian and military alike.

Then- show the action on the ground. Straight up. Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebanon.

Finalize it with the destruction of Syria and Iran. War scenes backed with real footage and sound from the civilian battle against Islamo Fascism, complete with gore from the terrorist murdering.

Bring it home and make it hot.

Nothing spells controversy like the REALITY of what must be done.

Audiences know the dreck coming out of Hollywood is preaching to the Moon Loon choir.

Plus the segment of the economy with more disposable income isn’t on the Left. Surprise!

    So we’d rather stay home.

I guess you can tell this has captured my imagination.

Bear - if the best Bollyweird can do is make films always blaming America - then, I’d say let the loons support their films. There are many films now on cable channels that because of who produced/directed/starred I refuse to watch. I did see “The Kingdom” only because a friend that had spent over 15 yrs. in the ME footed the bill for a group of us, and I wasn’t in a position to say no. Personally, I’d not have spent a dime going to see it. It was soft compared to the others from what I’ve heard.

I was completely shocked the other nite when PBS aired “the longest day” with an all-star cast from the 60s.

That was back in the day when Sinatra was in “Von Ryan’s Express”. Right smack dab during the VN war.

I believe that we will watch war films as long as our patriotism isn’t insulted. During World War II, there was a serious debate in Washington over showing a documentary of the landings and battle on Tarawa, since the footage was far more graphic than anything Hollywood put out. In the end, FDR ordered that the film be shown. The shock felt by audiences over the horrific slaughter on this very small place quickly gave way to pride in the heroism of the Marines, where “uncommon valor was a common virtue.” A fitting post on Veterans Day.
