I don't know if it is still in print, but I studied in college a great history, "The Strange Death of Liberal England" by George Dangerfield (no relation to Rodney), that covered the period from the accession of George V to the outbreak of World War I during which the Liberal Party skidded into irrelevance. Someone should write "The Strange Death of Liberal America" covering the presidency of Lyndon Johnson, when the same thing happened to the Democrats. Time to have some acceptable alternatives and answers to all you democrats.
