Even ascendant, Dems wary of ‘liberal’ label
…These are heady days for Democrats. The party is favored by almost all measures in the coming presidential contest. But while Democrats are emboldened, they remain wary of the term “liberal.”
Republicans, by contrast, are as unpopular in the polls as they have been for at least 15 years. Nonetheless, the label “conservative” remains in vogue.
At a recent Republican debate, Rudy Giuliani referred to himself as a “conservative” four times in roughly the same time span — a minute or so — it took Clinton to reject the word “liberal” and embrace “progressive.”
In seven Republican debates this year the word “conservative” was used 100 times.
In the seven Democratic debates the word “liberal” was used four times — not once by a candidate…
Hillary Clinton’s new catchphrases are “Turn up the heat” and “Turn America around.”
Looks like someone needs to print up some yellow placards with the Dems’ de facto slogans:
“Turn up the smoke” and “Turn away from the L-word.”

Shhhhh…that trap will be sprung on America once the ignorant masses, the dead and the illegal put Hillary in office.
Democrats are embracing liberal politics, yet rejecting the label “Liberal.”
Republicans are embracing the label “Conservative,” yet so many Republican leaders are shying away from strong conservative stances and just plain wimping out.
Why is this?
They should run from the “liberal” label.

They are afraid of “liberal” because people understand what it means: We will take your money and give it to someone who hasn’t earned it in the form of an inefficient and overly expensive government program to sap your spirit and make you our slave.

Like their desire to change the Constitution on a whim, Liberals want to change their moniker with every election. Whatever seems correct at the time.
“Tradition!” can be a good thing once in a while.
They don’t want to use the word liberal… good! It was never theirs to begin with.
Its original meaning comes from being free from outside interference, for example the government. In many latin languages “liberal policies” actually means right-wing, free market policies.
The fact that they can’t really find a correct word to define themselves by is probably more revealing.

I don’t think that liberal is accurate enough. I think it is time to refer to Democrats as socialists. At least on economic policy, that is what they are. From universal health care, to social security, to welfare, to affirmative action, Medicare and Medicaid. Every single economic policy the come up with is quasi socialist.
If we are going to call a spade a spade then it is time to refer to them as socialists on economic policy at least.
I wrote a piece about Hillary that asked if she is a socialist.
I think eventually the term the Dems will try and run away from is socialist.
How much longer before Man.bear.pig steps up and condemns her about that global warming thingy he says she is creating (or was that we - I just can’t remember)?

The funny thing is, self-professed “Progressives” are even more leftist than “Liberals”. The progressives that I know favor the name change because they consider their Democrat cohorts to be too centrist!
And what’s with this “ascendant” business? Here’s my prediction: the Democrats are going to get creamed in ‘08. They will lose the presidency and both houses of Congress, probably by a substantial margin. Quote me on that.
The cycle will repeat itself. After a time the word progressive will be avoided and liberal used again. Just pick one and run with it already.

I do not use the term “liberal”.
I refer to them as leftists or socialists, which is, indeed, just what they are.
It will probably not be long before I refer to them as communists.
At least fascist totalitarians (Nazis, Muslim radicals) are honest and open, in that they tell you that they want to obtain absolute power, and that they will kill you if you get in their way.
They are power-hungry and antireligion.
Leftists/socialists/communists are diffferent from fascists only in that they are NOT honest and open; they give us the song and dance that what they are doing is “for equality”, “for the greater good”, “for the children”, blah, blah, blah,….
But, they too seek absolute control, and will kill you if you get in their way.

George Carlin once said we should call rapists “involuntary sperm recipients.”
They can call tax hikes “investments,” and making profits in actual investments “greed,” but it is not their words that are wrong…it is their ideas.
As for “turning America around,” does that mean if America is doing well, they want to reverse that and destroy things?

It isn’t pretty
In politics, there are no “liberals”; only conservative and “moderate progressives”.
In referring to the slogan “Turn up the Heat”, perhaps it would be great if the Press and MSM would turn up the heat on their questions to our socialist brothers and sisters. They have no answers, alternatives to domestic or foreign affairs except surrender and accept communist methods. Again and Again they ignore Islamic threats and the invasion from the south, If Mexico takes over they will be under their foot and they are too stupid to realize it. Time to have some acceptable alternatives and answers to all you democrats.
I refuse to use the term “progressive”. This is an attempt to fool people into thinking it would be progress to follow the liberal agenda.
Not all motion is progress. Doing away with the moral values and rules for existing in a civilized society that mankind has spent thousands of years developing is not progress. Neither is blindly ignoring the lessons of history. A more accurate word for them would be regressives.
The liberals are harmed not by their words but by their policies.
I just call them commies, more to the point.

21. Recognize that when the constitution says that the government shall MAKE NO LAW it means MAKE NO LAW for whatever reference it is regarding
22. Eliminate ANY and ALL political contributions. If they want to serve us let them earn the right by themselves!

Actually, I’m happy that they are running away from the “L” word, since liberalism has a long and honorable history that the loony left trashed in 1968. I don’t know if it is still in print, but I studied in college a great history, “The Strange Death of Liberal England” by George Dangerfield (no relation to Rodney), that covered the period from the accession of George V to the outbreak of World War I during which the Liberal Party skidded into irrelevance. Someone should write “The Strange Death of Liberal America” covering the presidency of Lyndon Johnson, when the same thing happened to the Democrats.
“Progressive” was Communist code for “Communist.” I always thought it the charitable thing to call them “liberal.”
However, if they wish to abandon the name “liberal” I don’t mind - I always thought “Burkean Liberal” would be a good describe myself!

I prefer to call the usurpers “progressives;” all the better to connect them to and make them responsible for Margret Sanger and the American eugenics movement, the 16th ammendment, income taxation and the IRS; and the 18th ammendment and Prohibition.
