Georgians to Crazy Cynthia: DLTDHYOTWO
I mentioned last month that Crazy Cynthia McKinney was heading West to Cali in pursuit of a Green Party presidential nomination. Georgians were more than happy to see her go. Here’s your Wednesday schadenfreude via Fox News (hat tip – reader Tom):
A 20 mile stretch of I-285 — a main thoroughfare that connects downtown Atlanta to the suburb of Stone Mountain — was renamed the Cynthia McKinney Parkway in 2000 after the congresswoman secured $14 million in federal funding for DeKalb County to upgrade what was then called Memorial Drive.
Georgia House Rep. Mike Jacobs is supporting a state resolution proposed last year that calls for the parkway to revert to its original name.
“If had I had to pick any road in the state of Georgia to strip the name from, this would be it,” said Jacobs, who represents part of DeKalb County. “The original name of the road is Memorial Drive, which is named for the men and women who died protecting our freedom.
“Who’s more deserving? I think the question answers itself.… [And] in light of the fact that her commitment to the state of Georgia is nil, we should re-double our efforts to remove her name from a state road.”
It takes a lot of cleanser to erase an unhinged legacy. Good luck, Georgia.

One of the Fox News pundits suggested that Georgia residents should be required to keep the Cynthia McKinney Parkway name — as a warning for future voters.
Shouldn’t be a problem since everyone calls it Memorial Drive anyway.

I always thought it was ridiculous to name anything after a living congressman. Most of it is a pat on the back for increased pork spending.
Has Robert Byrd managed to change the name of West Virginia to Robert Byrd-land yet? Seems like everything else there is named after him.
Of course, we are talking about the voters who elected her anywho sooooo – that theory stinks.
Soap-box – not too loud – the Golden Gate Bridge District might want to rename the GG Bridge! Talk about total disasters! To them that theory makes perfect sense.

I live in California, and I again apologize for the 60-70% that live here that wreck it for the normal ones. I am a New Yorker living in Cali, never a Californian.
As for Cynthia McKinney, the road should be renamed “Israel Highway” due to her and her dad’s love of the
J-E-W-S.
I think it is wonderful that the Green or Peace and Freedom Parties would want a racist antisemite as their standardbearer, or in this case, lack of standardsbearer.
Ok, enough venting. Maybe in Cali she can be recycled with the rest of the garbage.

BT, I ran into Senator Byrd at Walter Reed several months ago. He was in a wheel chair, being pushed by an Army NCO. I spoke with him briefly. He did not seem to be all there. He could have been under sedation. What amazed me was the fact that there were no aides, or staffers, with him.
As much as I disagree with his politics, I admire the man. Unlike many others, he lives on his senate salary, carries a copy of the constitution in his breat pocket and displays moral charactor.
That being said, the fact that he is still serving scares me, lol.
Is that Parkway or Porkway?

Cindy McKinney and Jerry Brown…what a wonderful thought! Can you imagine a Cindy/Jerry Presidential ticket?(Sounds of wretching, and heaving!) And just when Pelosi thought she was “distancing” herself from the nightmare!
She will fit right in here in California, except that with her racist persona, she would probably be better received in Richmond, or Berekely. Oh, I forgot…they don’t meet her housing criteria there…no castles!

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Of course, like someone points out in the article, I don’t know of anyone who ever called it McKinney Parkway; it’s still Memorial Drive to me and most people I talk to back home.
Of course, if she were a *true* Georgian, I’d like to think she’d have a more difficult time fitting in with her new neighbors in California. I mean, has anyone *tried* to get sweet tea west of the Mississippi? Not so easy!

Cynthia is such a side show. Now she’s running away from Georgia… wait a minute, look at this photo. If you ignor race and look at the hair and the wide eyes, could she not be the spawn of Sideshow Bob and the Runaway Bride?
Most of my family still live in WV and they invariably vote for Byrd. Closing coal mines and a generally poor economy are part of the problem, along with one of the highest average aged populations in the US.
Byrd brings in the pork, and that’s pretty much all the locals think they have. He’ll be getting votes years after he truly is dead.
Note to the San Andreas: let Cynthia get settled, then shake her and her to Davey Jones’.

Picky, but I-285 is the intra-state road that circles Atlanta. It doesn’t “connect” downtown Atlanta with anything, it surrounds it and allows travelers to avoid my crime-ridden birthplace on their way to Florida.
Please let the door hit her. There’s a certain Capitol policeman who would like to be the one to swing it, too.
Why do all the loony liberal politicians who can’t get elected in their own states go to CA or NY? If that’s where they go, there’s a few OK politicians I would let them have.

Actually, 43% of us CA residents voted Republican in the last presidential election, so I’d say it’s less than 60% who are wrecking it.
Cynthia McKinney obviously believes that California offers a more fertile environment for politics based on feelings, rather than rationality.

I totally agree with you. Corrine Brown took over the seat of Charlie Bennett. Bennett was known in the House as Mr. Ethics. Corrine Brown had not even warmed her seat when the FEC was already investigating her for violating the law. Every time she’s been caught doing things illegal (such as money laundering), she starts crying, “You’re only going after me because I’m black,” and the media backs off on her. Of course, she has a safe seat because her district has been gerrymandered from Jacksonville to Orlando, with stretches of miles that are not wider than a city block. So we’re stuck with her and her racist venom, such as her attacks on Roger Noriega.
And when she gets to California she will be amazed at the number of public buildings with Maxine Walters’ name.
She’ll be back in Georgia next term. She has a long history of getting elected, then doing something so outrageous that it makes even her Nation of Islam/New Black Panther constituents angry enough to boot her (of course blaming her loss on the JOOOOS!!!). Then she sits out a term, only to run the following term and be elected once again by the dolts here that vote solely based on color and party affiliation. Heck, Satan himself could be elected in her district–as long as he is black and a Democrat.
She’ll be back in Georgia in 2010–and probably get re-elected. That is, unless she is serving in the Hildabeast’s cabinet.
She craves attention and power so much that it will be impossible for her to sit back and enjoy that big fat congressional pension.

Uh-oh. Better hope none of the Democrats pick up on that remark. Indeed, the road was named as a memorial to soldiers. It runs by Oakland Cemetery, where the soldiers are buried, along with their vice president, Alexander Stephens.
