Sedition in Olympia continues
Update 3:25pm Eastern. Rock-throwing. Concrete-pouring. Window-breaking. Shipment-obstructing. And now, you can add photographer-bullying to the list of “peaceful,” “non-violent” actions by the Olympia thugs (hat tip – reader Joe S.):
Let me make something perfectly clear: The Olympian’s newsroom staff did not get attacked by police when they were at the scene covering the recent port protests.
However, photographer Tony Overman was threatened by protesters and felt endangered to the point of calling 9-1-1 for assistance…Tony, who is not easily intimidated, was angry. You don’t mess with a photographer’s equipment. But it was more than that. The young demonstrators surrounding and taunting him were being egged on by adults, men in positions of influence in this community. They should have behaved more responsibly.

I said it wasn’t over last night. I was right. The latest wire dispatch on the anti-war thuggery at the Port of Olympia reports today: “At least three semi-trucks have left the port carrying Stryker vehicles used in Iraq back to Fort Lewis. Anti-war protest leaders say they’re mobilizing again, and a squad of police in riot gear is at the scene.” Even the Olympian newspaper editorial board, which opposes the war in Iraq, is fed up:
While we fully agree with the protesters that the war should end immediately and the troops should be reunited with their families directly, protesters have crossed the line of peaceful protest and deserve to be punished for their regrettable behavior.
“Regrettable?” Try reprehensible.
When protesters resorted to blocking roads, dragging debris into the middle of downtown streets, breaking windows, destroying public property, damaging police cars and hurling rocks at police, they clearly crossed the line. Their peaceful assembly evolved into lawbreaking and they must be held individually accountable…Sunday night, Olympia Councilman TJ Johnson added fuel to the fire when he held a community meeting at City Hall where protesters whined about their treatment at the hands of police.
What did they expect?
Surely protesters understand that when they put themselves in harm’s way they put themselves at risk. They cannot expect to be treated gently by police. Videos from the scene show armed police officers repeatedly warning protesters to clear the streets and stop blocking traffic or face arrests. Protesters didn’t budge until doused with pepper spray, pushed back on the sidewalks with batons, or arrested and carried away to a police vehicle.
But they asked for it.

This is not going to be limited to Olympia:
Anti-war protestors plan their next move this morning. This time they’re planning to march outside a local military recruiting station, and it comes as Congress once again makes a statement about military spending. The protest and rally begins at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Tacoma Mall…organizers of these war protests are planning yet more protests Friday in Seattle, Olympia and Chehalis…
The “progressives” want their minions to follow suit and obstruct other ports:
Hopefully, the militancy, courage, tactics, spirit, of these very strong actions will inspire others throughout the United States to stand up and not be complicit with the torture and occupation being carried out in our name.
It is very likely the military will not use the Port of Olympia again for military shipments during the duration of the occupation of Iraq. This is a victory.

Can somebody explain to me how shouting at the police, “No force is necessary” or, “These are peaceful protesters” makes any sense at all? These morons were endangering themselves and others by lying down in the middle of a public thoroughfare, at night, trying to stop traffic. Besides their complete ignorance of the laws of physics, (F = ma as discussed yesterday), they also don’t seem to understand basic civics. The election is over. You have representatives who were elected by the majority of the people who turned out to vote. You don’t get your way by whining, and shouting down people in authority. You’re entitled to your opinion, but get your arse out of the street before you end up in the slammer as some bad man’s girlfriend.

The majority of these individuals are not taxpayers, and most likely if they pay taxes at the end of the year they get a big refund. Viewed only a few adults (I use that term losely)in the crowd. The mother with the child in the last video should be reported to Child Welfare Services for endangering her child.
This is anarchy, and must not be allowed. Not to mention the waste of tax payers dollars to send out the riot police to bring ‘peace’ to a ‘peaceful’ march. I doubt any of these individuals will be footing the bill. Maybe TJ Johnson can be foot the bill for insighting these people?

Dodging and risking getting hit by rubber bullets, pepper spray, and the other non-lethal measures to get them off the street is their equivalent of playing war without risking permanent damage or death. They have no clue that situations can turn ugly and stampedes and real violence could break out and actually put their lives at risk, and the lives of the small children some of them are idiotic enough to bring with them.

Mayor Foutch is an alright guy. I shook his hand and thanked him (Sunday, at the Veteran’s Day ceremony – where he was honored, BTW) for helping to stop the “Rafah-Olympia Sister City” movement… another story altogether, but it goes to character.

CPS? Don’t call them. The CPS in this state is incredibly broken. Washington would be better served by not even having a CPS (as long as we get the reduction in taxes that would go to funding it). At least then the government wouldn’t be covering up for child abusers.
It’s so bad here that some police departments have issued press releases asking people to call police to report child abuse rather than CPS.
Every few months there is a major scandal involving a child under the supervision of DSHS being tortured by their parents or foster parents. DSHS then says “Well, the caseworker didn’t see anything wrong. We’re investigating what went wrong.” Then the caseworker doesn’t get fired (or even reprimanded) and the issue is swept under the rug until the next time it happens.
The latest major incident involved a child who was stabbed repeatedly in the eyes with hypodermic needles by her foster mother.
Poor little whimpering punks these anarchists are. The one who was crying about how he was not doing anything when a “cop came out of nowhere” and next he knew he was thrown into the air. He continues to cry about how his lip was bleeding from his face hitting the ground–funny how his lip was miraculously healed by the time of his public crying jag.
The other wimp who claimed that “they” were using concussion grenades against his fellow cadre of seditious low-life’s should be glad they weren’t “fragged”!
None of these losers have ever even been in a pillow fight let alone suffered a busted lip. Concussion grenades? That kid has some serious cred problems (among other ones I’m sure).
When you don’t arrest people who are commiting a smal crime, then you get an every increasing spiral of more violent and destructive crime. Isn’t that the Guiliani message associated with the clean-up of NYC?
Olympia really needs to police this situation before someone gets hurt. The police and the judicial system need to send a strong message that protest is honored but protestors aren’t fee to do whatever they want in violation of existing laws. Anarchy is defined in terms of lawlessness. Is anarchy what Olympia really wants?
You are exactly right, these Stryker vehicles do save lives. American soldiers , Iraqi soldiers, and Iraqi civilians. This is an awesome piece of equipment. From what I’ve read in many places, the commanders love it’s flexibility, and the troops who use it love the way it bridges the gap between the Humvee and the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. It’s fast, quiet and armed to the teeth. The Iraqi Army is very impressed by the Stryker Brigade Combat Teams, they have named them “The Ghost Riders”.
Another great product from America’s world famous Arsenal of Democracy, AKA Military-Industrial Complex.
These vehicles are great, but more importantly the soldiers that operate them are real heroes. That’s who these idiots are protesting, whether they realize it or not.
I’m going to buy some stock in a tazer-rubber bullet-pepper spray-riot gear company. It seems to be a bull market.

Concussion grenades? Really? Where’s the video? M-a-y-b-e “flash/bang” grenades, but concussion grenades? I don’t think so…had they been used, there would have been many of the protestors on the receiving end of them in hospitals, and in morgues. Concussion grenades were made to KILL, not to SCARE.
In addition, those responsible for dispensing said grenades would be in custody, and the MSM would be exclaiming the unjustified barbarity of it all.
Is there currently any applicable federal law that could be used to prosecute these seditionous cretins?

What I find interesting are the striking parallels to the rise of Hitler and the Nazi party:
1. Find a cause you can distort to your liking.
2. Fan the flames of hatred of other like-minded people, gather en masse, have meetings/protests, disrupt everyday life around you as much as possible, then…
3. claim to be persecuted for your beliefs if anyone speaks out against you.
4. Count on figures in positions of authority to try to appease you first and take full advantage of every inch they’re willing to give. Like, say for instance, Poland or Olympia. Claim it as your own and enforce only the rules you choose there. Once entrenched, start looking for the next nearest place you can grab.
5. If Steps 1-4 haven’t worked, resort to mindless, destructive violence. The public in general hates violence and will assume that you’ve got a righteous grievance, or are simply “misunderstood souls in need of state-ordered, publically-funded counseling”.
6. If forced by anyone with a spine to actually attend counseling, revert back to step three and howl that the others are “ganging up on you because you’re in the lead”.
7. Most of all, never admit you’re wrong, even if you’ve done something incredibly stupid like invade your ally Russia, or blockaded a port filled with troops RETURNING home from war (i.e. going home and not fighting any more).
All of the same signs are there, folks. Deal with them now, or deal with them later, but rest assured, we’ll have to deal with them all eventually, and it probably won’t be pretty.
Personally, if I were in charge of bringing the troops home one ship at a time, seeing how crazy the nutroots went in Olympia, I’d ship them ALL home through that port! I’d put so many troops on the ground there at one time that the number of Strykers would make Olympia seem like a Los Angeles freeway at rush hour. Don’t seen any green-loving nutroots protesting against SUVs and Global Warming standing out in the middle of a bunch of tired, hot, angry commuters, do ya?
I also think they need to rig “cow catchers” on the front of those trucks, start them up, and move them right out if the police won’t clear the road (as is their SWORN duty).
As far as I can recall, “freedom of speech” does not extend to roads. I don’t believe you can even gather in mass to have a protest IN A ROAD without some sort of permit from local government. If a permit is required, then there’s a law about it, and if there’s a law, then this is clear, unrefuted evidence of that law being broken.
So why again weren’t these people summarily hauled off the road by the local cops and arrested? Could someone please explain that to me?

OK, so I finally decided to watch the videos posted above. Man…I just can’t express enough how I feel, at least not on a somewhat family friendly site.
I hate to tell the…lady…video taping in the first one, but the minite you start chanting and yelling, you cease being a “non-violen observer and become just another protester. I am in agreement though, why do they always feel the need to yell out, “Don’t use violence, these are peaceful protesters”, and “The whole world is watching”? DO they honestly think that the police care? Do they honestly think that the whole world IS watching? And don’t they think the police are best to judge what constitutes violent protesting and what doesn’t?
Another question: What is it about Liberal gettogethers and protests that makes unwashed smelly long-haired hippie free-thinkers show up and turn the whole thing into a Grateful Dead Crod-esque drum circle? I swear, evcer time you get the mandatory 10-15 throw-backs standing around in a mushroom and pot indiced frenzy, pounding aimlessly away on some Peir One Imports purchased African replica drum. Is there some purpose behind that that I am unaware of? Heck, I’m even a veteran of many Dead shows and I don’t get it.
Video two was no longer working, but in video three…the woman that was telling the police how to do their job and the legalities of “using non-lethal and other…stuff…” on the protesters just killed me. You could almost hear the cops’ thoughts of, “You have got to be kidding lady, the day we listen and take job advice from the likes of you…” just classic.
Then there was the loser who was videotaping the thing, and his painful lament about how “these poor people are so uninformed”. hello Mr. Kettle, meet the pot. He went on to talk to the pretty boy about the alledged use of many, many cuncussion grenades, automatic weapons firing rubber bullets and the gratutitous use of pepper spray following the soldiers becoming nervous after reaching a road block put their by these anti-American thugs. The classic moment came when they seemed to blame the military for allegedly scaring an innocent citizen, as if the entire thing was the military’s fault and not the fact that their anti-American, traitorous actions were what was causing this fracas at the intesection.
Just classic. Always someone else’s fault, never accept responsibility for your own actions. It is their trademark.
Blocking traffic, hindering commerce, creating a public disturbance, threatening a truck driver, endangering children, failure to obey a peace officer, covering your face, the list is long and gets longer.
these are horrible, horrible people. They are deluded and delusional. My hat is off to the truck driver. I do not think i would have been able to show such restraint. I wanted to thump melons just watching the last video, so I can just imagine what that truck driver must have been thinking and wanting to do.
No sir, I have not one kind thing or word to say about these “people”. They are just horrible, horrid people that have no shame, no honor, no conscience, no brains, and not a single shred of common decency, common sense or patriotiism in the least. Shameful, shameful, shameful.
