Another Harry Reid snit fit: No recess, no recess appointments
So, they can’t–make that won’t–get it together to provide funding for the troops, but they’re going to pretend to work over the weekend in order to stomp their feet over Democrat appointments. My four-year-old is more mature than Harry Reid:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., will keep the U.S. Senate in session over the Thanksgiving break because he wants to block President Bush from making any recess appointments.
Roll Call is reporting that Sen. Reid inserted a statement into the record Friday stating that he will “hold the Senate in a series of pro forma or nonvoting sessions” to prevent Bush from exercising his appointment power.
Reid said, “While an election year looms, significant progress can still be made on nominations. I am committed to making that progress if the President will meet me halfway.
“But that progress can’t be made if the President seeks controversial recess appointments and fails to make Democratic appointments to important commissions.
The elevator is going down, down, down.

Yep…the 40 years they held Congressional power! Never fixed the socio-economic problems, educational problems, race relation problems, but always managed to blame the Republicans for those problems. They used those issues to campaign for office even though they did nothing to correct those real or imagined problems while they held the majorities.

Since getting a good idea of Reids manipulation of the Amnesty(s) debate I have come to realize there is democracy and then there is Reids version of democracy. To what extent is this detrimental to American democracy: to the extent that we have a representative form of government and to the extent Reid subverts this process is the extent of the damages done to all of us. Has any terrorist done worse to America than Reid and has any high treason he has committed done worse damage to our war effort than any terrorist.

The amount of attention a senator pays to his/her constituents is based pretty directly on how long it’s been since the last election. My senator, Jon Kyl, ran as a conservative in 2006. In 2007 he lead the fight for Shamnesty. Go figger!

This jerk has really stepped in a pile of excrement this time. I heard on Rush last hour that Reid says SecDef Gates told him the Army and Marines will be just fine until March with the last incomplete funding Democrats grudgingly passed. There is one little problem. That is not what SecDef Gates said with CJCS Adm. Mullen at a Pentagon presser just yesterday. Reid thinks that Bush is too unpopular to correct the record with the public.

Not one person has noted what recess confirmation Senator Reid is trying to prevent.
Dr. James Holsinger, President Bush’s nominee for Surgeon General, has published medically inaccurate papers in the name of homophobia. This paper is based on incredibly simplistic, and inaccurate assumptions like that heterosexual couples don’t engage in anal sex and that all homosexual male couples do. This is so far from the truth that’s it’s laughable.
Holsinger has shown in the past that he’s willing to put ideology over science. That’s unacceptable. I applaud Senator Reid and I urge President Bush to find a nominee who doesn’t think homosexuality can be “cured.”
Harry Reid’s outside shows clearly what is on the inside. Small minded, mean spirited and selfish. What a guy. And how loudly he’d be screaming if the situation was reversed with a Republican leader and a Democratic president! Even my Democratic friends passionately dislike him.

When Ben Franklin wanted to have the turkey declared our national bird, he must have had Harry Reid in mind. The turkey is among the stupidest animals on the planet (sounds like Harry). The idea that turkeys drown in a rainstorm has been heard for generations (yup, that’s Harry). The turkey’s brain accounts for only 2% of its body-weight putting it among the lowest of the bird brains (Harry, nuf said). So when Harry wants to stomp and scratch around his Congressional barnyard at Thanksgiving, it should come as no great surprise.

What are medically inaccurate papers? Are they the same as politically uncorrect opinions? I’ve seen it reported that homosexuality may be genetic. May be is a long way from iron clad positively is.

I have never read anything saying that homosexuality was genetic. Many argue that it’s biological. But certainly not genetic for the reason you cite.
I consider myself a huge gay rights supporter, but I admit the science on the issue is still very much up in the air.
That doesn’t mean that Holsinger’s 1991 paper isn’t total crap though. He bases his views on homosexuality being unnatural because anal sex is unnatural. This is crazy because many gay male couples don’t practice anal sex and many heterosexual couples do. And I guess lesbians are just chopped liver.
The problem is that Holsinger used his title as a medical doctor to promote something with no medical evidence. It was his opinion based personal beliefs instead of medical studies. That’s a problem because it means, at least in this case, Holsinger values ideology more than science. That’s not ok for the #1 doctor in the land.
That’s a load of crap. Every liberal I know hates Iran (and our “ally” Saudia Arabia for that matter) for their treatment of women, treatment of gays and their stifling of dissent.
Just because most of us don’t want to turn Iran into a glass parking lot and just because most of us could care less if an Iranian figurehead gets to speak at Columbia… that doesn’t mean that we consider Iran an ally.
Is this the same ‘most of us’ that includes those who won’t let people like Ann Coulter or the founder of the Minutemen say their peace on a college campus without riotous disruption and pie-throwing?

You know, at the risk of raising red flags: Being from Nevada, I can actually remember when Harry Red was willing to come on conservative talk shows and answer for his actions. I remember the last time I heard him on the Reno station he hemmed and hawed about changing his position (After “Coming into power”) and he never looked back. So much for Battle Born in his case, more like chicken little now. Just sad.
As those of us have pointed out: Reid is an embicle, and frankly his conduct is the issue.
Not at issue is the Presidents Executive Right to choose his appointments. Most likely he has a better grasp than you do on this candidates qualifications. Never has a Democrat President had to put up with this type of political game playing. At least not in Recent History. However, I dare say, if we Republicans win the houses back and Shrillary is appointed, you can bet the base is going to phone, fax and email our representatives to make sure she doesn’t get her appointments without a really strong fight and push for her to ’select’ Republicans and be ‘fair’ and select a more moderate and not so liberal candidate.

If you have the scientific facts to prove him wrong, then please right a book countering his claim. I wish I had the sense that the American people get what it is to be a Democrat these days. It used to be an honorable party, but no longer. I only wonder why the republicans aren’t standing out on the Capital’s steps every hour complaining about the liberal tactics so the rest of the country’s “not very smart” liberal voters are force fed what their leaders are really like.
