“My God, she’s married to one of our people”

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 18, 2007 01:13 PM

Update 9:00am Eastern 11/19. Here’s more on Nada Prouty’s immigration scam.

***
1nada.jpg

The case of Nada Nadim Prouty is a Bush national security nightmare. If the Democrats weren’t themselves such open-borders incompetents, they could be screaming at the tops of their lungs about this story’s flabbergasting implications–and justifiably embarrassing the hell out of the White House. Instead, the story has gotten nearly zero traction.

The New York Post reports more damning details today:

FBI fraudster Nada Nadim Prouty not only used a sham marriage to get jobs with access to secret terrorist intelligence - her current husband is a State Department employee who has held sensitive posts in Middle Eastern embassies, The Post has learned.

Her third hubby, Gordon Prouty, 40, now works for the State Department in Washington, a spokesman confirmed Friday night. He had been stationed at American embassies in Egypt and Pakistan.

A Justice Department spokesman, Dean Boyd, refused to comment on Gordon Prouty’s job, or say whether he was under investigation along with his criminal wife.

“He’s not charged with any wrongdoing in this case,” Boyd said.

But the revelation surprised national security watchdogs.

“My God, she’s married to one of our people,” said Mike Cutler, a former US immigration special agent.

Nada Prouty, 37, admitted last week she faked her first marriage to a Michigan man in 1990, enabling her to get US citizenship that helped her secure jobs with the FBI and CIA. Her star as an agent rose, and officials trusted her to grill al Qaeda sympathizers.

She also confessed to sneaking into government databases for secret information on her sister and brother-in-law, both linked to the Middle East terror group Hezbollah.

One of the agencies credited with busting Prouty is the State Department’s diplomatic security service.

Gordon Prouty was a foreign service officer under Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. In 1999, he transferred from Cairo to Islamabad, Pakistan, a State Department document shows.

Heckuva job.

***
CIA officers are defending Prouty–and shrugging their shoulders at her immigration fraud scheme - via NYDN:

In the wake of Nada Nadim Prouty’s guilty plea to lying her way into U.S. citizenship and sensitive FBI and CIA jobs, operatives of both agencies disagree whether she breached the government’s trust, or just showed poor judgment.

For many in the buttoned-down FBI, a fellow special agent tarnished the bureau’s image and betrayed them by living the lie that she was a law-abiding naturalized citizen from Lebanon.

“That can’t be glossed over,” said John Sennett, a retired agent and former president of the FBI Agents Association. “To get into the FBI under false pretenses is inexcusable. This isn’t like lying about your age to join the Navy in December 1941.”

But to CIA veterans, where Prouty was recruited as a covert operations officer in 2003, a talented spy merely fudged the truth to win her citizenship.

Prouty, 37, admitted in court that she became a U.S. citizen by hiring an American to marry her. She then joined the FBI in 1999.

That’s not uncommon - people do it all the time,” said a dismissive CIA source.

And get this:

Several other CIA officers also shrugged off her pleading guilty to rifling FBI files for information on family members and a Hezbollah counterterror case in Detroit.

As far as I can tell, she was just looking out for her family,” another senior official said.

And that is appropriate in her position? I am stunned. The White House should be embarrassed. This is appalling. How can the FBI and CIA protect the US if they allow and condone spies in their midst? Don’t secure our borders, don’t control illegal immigration…it would appear our government is telling the terrorists to come on in and kill us. We don’t care.

Now approach this story from the point of view of your average, loyal American — like you. You have just found out something incredibly serious regarding the country’s security, a planned attack perhaps. You hesitate, worrying, but decide the FBI can’t possibly be that bad and give them a call.

Right away, they send over one of their “experts” on terrorism. Too bad she has contacts all over the Islamic world — not those associated with the Religion of Peace, of course. She notes your information and smiling, says it will be handled appropriately.

She tells her bosses there is nothing to worry about. And indeed there is not. That night relatives/friends of hers in this country pay a follow-up visit to your house. The problem is eliminated.

This is where we are heading. Got some information now you want to share?

The senior CIA official who said this needs to be outed and fired immediately. The Agency is not a local police station or political organization where flippant comments like that above could be ignored! It’s sad to say but the Agency we all knew is but a mere shadow of itself. It seems the Klinton era caused more damage than ever imagined. I never thought I’d say this but maybe it’s time to close Langley and man up the DIA. May God help us.

It is also interesting that new info out sheds new light on so called “McCarthyism” being so evil. Turns out Sen. McCarthy was on the dime but was discredited by the libs/globalists at the time. Then we find out her brother in law is an indicted fugitive for allegedly sending $20 million or so to Hezbollah, And oh yeah, she worked for him before the FBI job.

Next we find out she did not just work for the FBI, but also for the CIA.

And next we find out that she was not just an office worker, but conducted critical interviews in Iraq involving terror suspects.

And NOW, her current husband is a ranking state department employee who held sensitive posts in the middle east. And he now works at State in DC.

Talk about a train wreck. I’ll wager we haven’t heard the last of this. More surprises to come.

Large institutions, like the FBI and CIA, have been woefully ineffective against the growing threats of terrorism over the past three decades.

Leaner institutions, like the US Marines and Blackwater are often criticized for being to effective (aggressive) against terrorist threats.

Just proving Barry Goldwater correct when he was laughed-down by liberals for saying:

With regards to sham marriages: the military had this problem since the 50’s. Take a young private, offer him a few thousand bucks to marry a stranger (throw in some sex), voila, instant marriage. Generally the happy couple would part company after landing in the US, a divorce would be filed later citing abandonment. The military took this seriously, and if a GI wants to marry a foreign national while overseas, there are a lot of barriers to overcome to get permission (yes, you need permission). I know, I went through this many years ago.
For ANY government official in ANY capacity with ANY agency, especially one tasked with security, to minimalize sham marriages is unforgivable.

DeGioia, Georgetown U. addressed the merits of a “global univesity.” The theme of the briefing was how globalism impacts security, national and corporate. One premise DeGioia put forth was that when GU or any university engages other cultures, education facilities, etc. globally, we must be sensitive to their cultural values, faiths, and other beliefs in order to be successful. I found that interesting since our academia does everything it can to disrespect and undermine our own cultural values and belief system. He also stated GU and most other institutions depended on having a foreign student component of at least 25% to be financially viable because of govt grants to support such interchange. Now figure that out. Our tax money supports students from countries that are mining our technical wealth, undermining our Judeo-Christian heritage and national cultural values, we educate them, send them back to their home countries and we get zapped by them. Somewhere our country jumped the track and I believe the libs derailed us and the trainwreck is now US!.

Joseph McCarthy told congress The State Department was being infiltrated in the 1950’s. So to follow the logical progression my guess us that the CIA was next then the FBI.

After reading Debbie Schlussel’s coverage it seems even the U.S. Attorney’s office has been infiltrated too:

“The FBI and U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy (and before him, U.S. Attorneys Craig Morford and Jeffrey Collins) knew Prouty was a spy for Hezbollah back in 2003, but they allowed her to work for the FBI and CIA for over FOUR Years! They did not remove her from the job until the end of this past September–1.5 years after her brother-in-law was indicted for financing Hezbollah!!!!!!”

Don’t forget Sibel Edmonds who was fired and gagged after blowing the whistle on the FBI for hiring a mole/foreign agent is in charge of all all Arabic translators at the FBI back in 2001.

When Sibel Edmonds joined the FBI immediately after 911, she was the first and only Turkish translator there. Shortly afterwards, the FBI recruited two other translators, Melek Can Dickerson and Kevin Taskasen. Their boss was former translator Mike Feghali.

Five years ago, Mike Feghali was in charge of three Turkish translators, a patriot, an incompetent, and a foreign agent - he fired the patriot, sent the incompetent to Guantanamo, and had an affair, and probably received payment, from the foreign agent

In 2002, Charles Grassley said angrily, about these facts, “We need to turn the FBI upside down.”

Five years later, he is no longer at the bottom of the pyramid, but at the top. The FBI has been turned upside down! Feghali has been promoted, and promoted again, and is now in charge of all Arabic speakers at the FBI. “The translator is a traitor.”

Dickerson had worked for at least three organizations that were under investigation by the FBI’s counter-intelligence and counter-terrorism divisions. Sibel thinks that Feghali and Dickerson were having an affair - often conducted in his office, during business hours. Not only that, he also “covered-up information and leads pre and post 9/11″

And if Feghali’s promotion isn’t bad enough, in and of itself, let me repeat that Sibel’s claims about him have been reported up the chain all the way to Direct Mueller, and her allegations have been verified by the FBI OPR, the Dept of Justice’s Inspector General, the Senate Intelligence Committee and the 911 Commission. All of them know of Sibel’s claims, all of them know that her claims have been validated, and all of them know that Feghali has been promoted again and again and that he is now in charge of all 300 Arabic translators.

Surely that makes us all much less safe.

This begs the question whether we can trust anyone in Government Service-IMHO. The communists said they would take us over from within and the Islamists seem to be following their advice.

#45 DAKINE- By my recollection, FDR was not a Republican, correct? Pretty safe 40 year margin you left yourself, omitting his own little espionage debacle (one of the largest in history).

I believe this type of information and intelligence espionage first surfaced in his presidency when some top members of his administration (Alger Hiss) were found to have ties with the Soviets and involved with passing along top secret information to the KGB through a very intricate ring of spies, inclusive of government employees, like Nadia.

In fact, there was a counter espionage project in place by the NSA called the VENONA Project. Many good Americans were responsible for the decrypting of confidential intelligence secrets from American Spies to the Soviets. Some of the spies who were compromised on account of this project were Alger Hiss, Julius (code name LIBERAL) and Ethel Rosenberg.

Although it took almost two years before American cryptologists were able to break the KGB encryption, the information gained through these transactions provided U.S. leadership insight into Soviet intentions and treasonous activities of government employees until the program was canceled in 1980 – NSA Website-VENONA PAPERS

I find it funny that your analysis of Republican “Control” of the White House somehow falls short of including perhaps one of the most reckless periods of time where we had several hundred individuals compromising our military intelligence to various spy networks on behalf of the Soviet government and the KGB right under the does of FDR, a Democrat.

Looks like we still seem to be suffering short term memory loss when it comes to the hiring practices of our government agencies who are implemented for the primary purpose of protecting us from these people.

So funny that all we ever hear is all the Liberal B*****g about wiretaps…meanwhile, we’ve got a mole sending secrets directly to Hezbollah.

BTW, Im gonna take a pass on your book with no author. But why don’t you check out some of the NSA translated documents on our NSA government website under VENONA papers. Pretty eye opening stuff.

After reading this about Nadia, and after reading a little about the FDR situation…my question is…how many more Nadia’s do we have out there????

Security clearances used to actually mean something. There used to actually be penalties that had to be paid when you violated that trust. Then Clinton took office and clearances were granted to people who had no business being around classified information. They wouldn’t have qualified for access to any classified materials if it weren’t for Clinton insisting. God knows what kind of information walked out the door and was sold to the highest bidder or bartered for political favor. Suddenly, Top Secret meant: Don’t tell everyone you know this information but you can discuss it with the press as long as you don’t use your name.

Heaven help us if this is the logic level of those chosen to help defend our country.

That official ought to not only lose his/her job, but also ought to be prosecuted. I’m not up on the technicalities, but I believe that part of their oath is to uphold the law and that official seems not to be aware of this.

While Clinton was busy raping the CIA, who do you think were retained? Staunch Republicans?

Of course the Agency is political. It’s made up of people and headed by political appointees. And the current version is all too dysfunctional because of past injuries received during the Clinton years that are embedded in the culture. Bush screwed up by not implementing a major top-to-bottom fix as soon as he entered office. And OBTW, the State Department is no better.

When are we going to wake up and realize that we are at WAR with Islam, a religion of violence not of peace. Our policy of trusting Muslims in any position that is remotely related to national security is like trusting a 16-foot Burmese python to watch over an infant. We are as naive as that infant, if we continue to believe that Muslims are not actively waging war against western civilization… This is just more proof that they are able to infiltrate our government and military at virtually any level. Our only hope is for everybody to wake up and learn from the past… They’ve been doing this all along, from the Moorish 700-year occupation of Spain, to 9/11… And they’re still doing it. We must realize that they are our enemy, all of them. The truth is, Osama-bin-Laden IS following his religion to the letter. I have personally taken the time to read key parts of the Quran, just to make sure that I’m not judging prematurely… Truth is, Allah has demended that all non-muslims be subjugated. Period. Any Muslim that does not believe this is a hipocrite. Therefore, hiring a Muslim for any position in which American interests are at stake, and this includes allowing them into the military, is just plain stupid. Even the “good” Muslims can’t be trusted, because we can’t really tell them apart from the “bad” ones. Ther internment of the Japanese Americans during WW2 seems wrong now, but ya know what? It was necessary. Nowadays we have a far worse threat, and we are forced, for the sake of “political-correctness”, to allow these snakes to move about within our society with impunity. Well, the time will come when we will have no choice but to do something, and if “profiling” is the only way, so be it. If the government is afraid to do it, the people WILL.
