Your Black Muslim Bakery update: Massive welfare fraud scheme revealed
Via SFgate, I’m sure this latest twist in the ongoing expose of the Your Black Muslim Bakery criminal racket will be a shock:
As the late Yusuf Bey built Your Black Muslim Bakery into an empire of wealth and influence, he also orchestrated a systematic welfare fraud scheme at his Oakland compound, three of his former wives have testified.
By the wives’ sworn account, Bey directed many of the 100 women whom he considered his wives to make fraudulent applications for government aid programs intended to assist poor families, then diverted the benefits to himself.
Bey’s alleged fraud scheme began in the 1970s and continued in some form until his death in 2003, according to the women, who gave depositions in a negligence lawsuit against Alameda County that was settled out of court earlier this year…
…The revenue - thousands of dollars per month, perhaps more than $1 million over the course of the scheme, testimony in the case suggests - helped inflate the clout of Your Black Muslim Bakery, a business Bey proselytized as an icon of economic self-sufficiency.
The alleged fraud scheme was aided by two employees of the Alameda County Social Services Agency who were also Bey’s sisters-in-law, the former wives testified. A welfare worker who was Bey’s sister-in-law once tipped off the bakery that it might become the target of a fraud investigation, according to the testimony. As a result, the bakery’s households jumped off the welfare rolls in an attempt to avoid scrutiny, a former wife testified.
The depositions and other evidence obtained by The Chronicle allege:
– Bey’s wives fraudulently obtained Aid to Families with Dependent Children payments and General Assistance monies that were then diverted into bakery coffers.
– Bey family members fraudulently collected Section 8 vouchers - designed to help the poor with rent payments - despite owning houses in the Bay Area.
– Bey’s children fraudulently received medical coverage through Medi-Cal, a program for the state’s neediest residents.
In all, roughly 100 women and many of the 46 children Bey is thought to have fathered were involved in the fraud scheme, according to the wives - a category, the depositions say, that included girls whom Bey allegedly raped and impregnated.

Innumerable cases of abuse of welfare and other entitlement programs crop up and yet Dems simply refuse to admit that these programs need to be abolished or revamped. For goodness sake’s everybody and their mother are on welfare…figuratively speaking, of course. These programs are just to valuable. What’s a million dollar scam here or there?
Anyone could have given this case a serious once over and would have found that there was something fishy with this case. But that would require actually wanted to make sure that “free money” got into the right hands.

Ya know, having had some dealings with some of the Alameda County Offices in the past, it doesn’t surprise me that this could take place. There seem to be a lot of people who get “most favored” treatment. Since I’m a white male, and advancing in years, as well as semi-mobile, I can just forget about customer service. Surprised? Nope - that’s the norm not only in Alameda County, but pretty much any government office these days.
The sad thing is this incident is only the tip of the iceberg in welfare and/or social security fraud. I have seen more than one huckster work the system for all it is worth in my adult life. With all the need for unskilled labor in this country why are we allowing employers to out source to illegal invaders? Once the invaders are stopped there will no longer be a need for welfare and all the social workers employed by this bloated system rewarding those too lazy to work. Then we can start on a solution for social security fraud, not that it will do any good for the coming meltdown of the funding pillaged from this system by moving it into the General Fund.

While next in line at the grocery, my then young child and I noticed that the VERY well dressed woman in front of us was paying her bill with the aid of food stamps -OK. As we were going to our car, my child noticed that the said woman was getting into a VERY expensive car. “Mom,why did that lady need to pay with food stamps?” Out of the mouths of babes. I know that there has always been fraud in the welfare business. Now I’m “connecting the dots”.

The above statement is the rationale for NOT vetting who is REALLY entitled to our country’s socialist freebies. It does not matter how they get the stuff, what matters is that they get it. (The end justifies the means.) If this group of people would work as hard to live the American Dream legally, as they do (apparently) illegally, just imagine what they could accomplish?
It is amazing that so many con artists consider American generosity as prey, and attack the social welfare system with not a whit of decency or shame. We have seen this before…Katrina, and the recent California fires are recent examples. Strong-minded individuals need to insist on the strongest possible punishment for the abusers
