California Dem Party meltdown over Feinstein censure attempt: Beverly Hills 527 formed by HuffPo/MoveOn collaborators leading the way
The nutroots are unhinged over Calif. Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s recent votes to confirm Bush attorney general Michael Mukasey and federal appeals court judge Leslie Southwick. Far left members of the Democrat Party in the Golden State attempted to introduce a censure measure over the weekend. It failed, but the rabid liberal base of the Democrat party has only just begun. The “Courage Campaign” is chaired by a HuffPo radical and counts among its partners, “MoveOn.org, Democracy For America, New Progressive Coalition, Powerpac.org, CalPIRG, California Nurses Association, Common Cause, Brave New Films and Progressive Majority.” It’s a 527 with a Beverly Hills mailing address, purporting to represent the grass-roots, and it’s promising to be the California Democrats’ worst nightmare.
Here’s the video they posted of the raucous state Dem executive meeting over the weekend:
California Dem party bigwig Bob Mulholland lambasted the MoveOn acolytes as “worse than Bush.” And more:
Mulholland blasted the bloggers and activists supporting the censure resolution as “fringe” and “pre-nursing home”.
“The Democratic party’s purpose is to remind armchair activists that the duty is to elect a Democrat to the White House so we can end the Iraq mess”, he said. “Nothing should get in the way of that.”
Ooh, the nutroots don’t like that “pre-nursing home” insult. Whatever it means.
Let’s hope they keep at each other’s throats. If they’re preoccupied tearing themselves apart, that’s less time and energy they’ll have to hike your taxes, expand government, and undermine our security. Every bit helps.

Seems the befuddlement of the nutroots as to the definition is running 5:1 for every clinical useage. They just aren’t as edumacated as they thot they were. Bwhahaha.
I can think of several things for which Diane Feinstein could be censured, beginning with the shady dealings involving her husband’s contracting firm. Fulfilling her constitutional duty by confirming qualified appointees to the office of Attorney General and the federal judiciary are, however not among those reasons.
If the nutroots can somehow force out even very liberal senators like Di Fi, who on God’s green earth will they give us as replacements?
Oh please Nutroots… Please make sure your senior members don’t get re-elected. We’ll have Repubs as ranking members everywhere…

We CA Repubilicans did a great service for the country- way back when. The CRP supported A.Huffington’s husband for the vacant Senate seat over a good Republican Congressman named Dannemeyer. Those of us who just could not vote for the Democrat-Feinstein- and definitely could not vote for Huffington – sat out that year. At least we have Feinstein and NOT a Huffington! We’ll take a pat on the back any time now (-: It was also the LAST time that many of us were sucked into the arguement of “vote for the lesser of two evils”!

#15 MrArchieBunker. When I was in college in the 70’s I had to read Miami and the siege of Chicago. The contrast between the two parties was even more striking than it is today.
Back then lefty “demonstrations” were a lot more violent than they are today.

The last non-Democrat elected mayor of San Francisco was termed out in 1964, and it’s been D’s ever since. As a lifelong San Francisco resident, Democrat mayors are all I have known.
Feinstein has always been a cut above the archetypal San Francisco Democrat. As President of the Board of Supes in 1978, she inherited the city suddenly from George Moscone after he was assassinated (along with homosexual martyr Harvey Milk). Feinstein is by far the best mayor of S.F. in my lifetime. It doesn’t shock me that she would buck the reactionaries and confirm Mukasey and Southwick. She’s got her warts, to be sure, but while she’s definitely a Democrat, she’s no empty

Iraq was fourth on the list of reason why people went Dem in 2006. First on the list was perceived corruption. Iraq was 4th, and not to get us out, but to get us to win by different means. Getting us out b y surrendering, by cutting and running is not in the list of reasons. The fact that the Liberals and Democrats continually use this as sound bites is just plain lying to the public and a large mis-statement of facts. It is manipulating things in order to try to influence the Presidential election. Unfortunately, their poll numbers shows that no matter what the reason was they were elected for, they are doing a truly horrendous job at it. their poll numbers are lower than Bush’s and lower than they ahve been in decades.
How do they go about trying to rectify this? By continuing down the path that got them there, and then in-fighting. Democrats attempting to censure a fellow Democrat? Not just a Democrat, but one of the highest ranking FEMALE Democrats? And for what? For being co-operative and bi-partisan? For voting conscience and not party? For doing what was right and not stalling because some blogger said so?
the Dems have really screwed themselves in a way they have yet to realize. they have signed their name o a contract with the Devil in blood. When they hooked up with Moveon.org and these other Liberal bloggers, they thought they were going to be able to use them and their money any way they wanted. this has, instead blown up in their faces, and they now cannot find a way out. this was Feinsteins way of trying to tell them that they do not own her. Look at how they repaid that sentiment.
This is going to get much, much worse as time wears on over the next 11 months, mark my words. You will have those that will fight back against them and then ou will have the milk toaast Libs who will do the bidding of their Blogging Overlords. Who will win out in the end and what will it mean for the rest of us? that, is the million dollar wuestion and what will make it really entertaining to watch. I’m just surprised it took this long to start happening.

Yes, interesting question. When the Left Leaning Looney Liberals such as Diane Feinstein are still not left and looney enough for some… where does that mean the party is going?
Taking money from Moveon.org and their cohorts is tantamount to entering into a contract for serfdom much like many people did to gain passage to this country in its beginnings.
Unfortunately, unlike the people who took that path to get to this country, there is no end to the contract for these modern “serfs”. It becomes a lifetime contract and they become indentured slaves to these extremist organizations.
Master-Slave plain and simple.
I hope we can keep this type of activity by these fringe groups in front of the American people for the next year so they can see what they are really getting if they vote for these people again.

I may not be a big fan of theirs, but the Dems speaking out against the leftist fringe are right. Even in California, those far-leftists are doing damage to their party, and causing votes to switch to the other side.
Not a very diverse crowd, especially those chairing the meeting. I’m sure you’d see a higher percentage of minorities in a gathering of, say, Bush appointees.
Republicans really need to use this for their campaign ads. I seriously doubt the country wants THESE kinds of people’s influence behind our government, or our future. Hillary = Moveon.org, nutroots.

Bob Muholland is a “Jane Fonda Democrat” with deep roots in the CDP. A radical from way back, and still one of the Dem’s greatest offensive tools. I live in the same small city as does he in Northern California, and every campaign season finds him out slinging mud…it doesn’t surprise me to see him knee deep in this campaign.
