You know I’m happy to bash San Francisco when the moonbatty town deserves it, which is often, but you’ll pardon me for not getting overly worked up over the Bay Area sanctuary city’s decision to provide ID cards to illegal alien residents. The plan was approved today:
San Francisco will give resident identification cards to illegal immigrants under a plan approved on Tuesday amid a fierce nationwide debate on granting privileges to undocumented aliens.
In a 10-1 vote, the city’s board of supervisors — the equivalent of a city council — approved giving identification cards to all residents, including illegal immigrants. The move makes San Francisco the largest U.S. city to back such a plan.
Residents will be able to obtain the resident cards by presenting photo identification and proof they live in the city, such as a utility bill. It was unclear if the new cards, which will be accepted at libraries and health clinics, will carry photos.
Such a move had been expected from San Francisco, which is famously liberal. Earlier this year, Mayor Gavin Newsom said he would not allow city officials and employees to assist immigration raids by federal authorities seeking up people who had committed crimes or disregarded deportation orders.
San Francisco, which declared itself a “sanctuary city” in 1989, also this year launched a program to provide medical care to uninsured residents regardless of their immigration status.
Gavin Newsom is an open-borders dweeb. Bu who’s ultimately to blame for the spread of illegal alien IDs?
Congress and the White House have allowed these sanctuary cities to operate with impunity. And it is the Bush Treasury Department that set the precedent for illegal alien ID cards by approving the use of the matricula consular card over the objections of veteran law enforcement officers.
Before Republicans jump all over San Fran for approving security-undermining, phony baloney IDs to illegals, they might want to take it up with the White House first.

Bush must like his approval ratings to be in the tank. I voted for him twice and am glad he has the guts to stick it out in Iraq and the larger war on terror, but this damn amnesty push almost negates all the good he’s done.
I don’t need to deflect criticism to some “root causes” perpetrator. The White House and Congress deserve, and have received, criticism and blame for their roles in the cultural and civic suicide that is unchecked illegal immigration.
Sanctuary city leftists — there are too many to name — deserve their own very specific and pointed criticism for their actions and intentions, so instead of coddling San Francisco, say it like it is. They’re not different than the other big cities that have virtually seceded by hypocritically declaring their Federal welfare-dependent city-states to be outside of Federal immigration enforcement, such as it is.
There is an awful lot that the Bush Administration must be held accountable for, which is one reason I have advocated that the Republicans launch their own impeachment hearings. Of course, it will not happen. But more to the point, when will conservatives stand up for their principles regarding the Bush Administration? Here and there a few have, to be sure, but for the most part conservatives, just as Republicans, have given Bush a pass with the usual, “Well, he’s not as bad as ________,” complaining about an item here or there, but never proposing a comprehensive criticism.
Conservatives and Republicans, those worthy of the name, have been utterly disarmed and demoralized. Bush II, who never got his mind out of the Texas statehouse, has done far more damage to the country than a Gore administration ever would have done, for the simple reason that Republicans and conservatives would have fought Gore every step of the way.
Future historians of the Islamic Republic of Amexica will look back on Bush II as the turning point, where he posed at the front door while leaving the back door wide open for them and their brothers to pour in. The coming Clinton Administration will merely be a mop up.

I don’t know that it is the fault of any one group of Americans at a given time, as much as it is, in my opinion, the fault of Americans in general over the past few decades or so. Year after year after year of trusting corrupt politicians to do the right thing has lead us to where we are now.

President Reagan attempted to deal with the illegal problem in his term. He granted amesty to a few million illegals and, tell me if I remember wrong, ran a bill thru congress to build a wall. This wall was physical and electronic.
Maybe 8 years ago I watched a ’supposed’ documentary on government waste. One segment of this documentary was this fence, a few miles were built then there was photos of miles of unused fencing, posts, and cameras laying in the dirt rotting. Some one had ordered the fence work stopped.
Why does no one ask: “who gave the order to stop construction even though so much of the fences materials had been delivered?”

Is there really no Federal penalty that can be levied against this city or it’s council members/mayor for all the things they do that are in blatant violation of federal laws? Federal laws trumps local and state laws, and therefore, anything they do that violates them can be punished by a Federal court.

I am no fan of Bush when it comes to his stance on the illegal invasion of this country. This is a national security issue just as vital as our fighting the global war against the Islamist. I am really amazed at the BDS coming out of the wood work on this thread too. I would love to see some real old time conservative leadership from the GOP, but they are delusional if they think selling this country out to the invaders will buy them a voting block. a legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized.

People keep saying, “Well, we can’t round them up, put them on buses and planes and deport them all”. i want to know why not? Why is it that we are not allowed to follow our own laws, capture those that sit at home Depot, that hang out on corners, that are known to be in certain places, that get arrested, or any nuber of places and ways that we find ILLEGAL ALIENS and take them to INS, process them and ship them all out once a week on a bus and/or plane to their home country. On a repeat offence, they are sent to a special prison, erected specifically for said offenders in the manner of the tent cities, with increasingly longer sentances for each subsequent arrest, and finally be rid of this issue once and for all. When word gets out that the gravy train has finally pulled out of the station, maybe then things will change.
And don’t give me that tired “We are all illegal aliens” or “Only Indians are natives here” or whatever other tired ol hippie logic you want to use that all Liberals toss out in order to end debate. To use as an example, something that happened 600 years ago, with different morals, different standards, different laws etc., than what is today is incredibly underhanded and dishonest and you know it.
While it is true that the vast majority of families came from somewhere else. this was not a sovereign nation wit laws and borders back then. We were welcomed, we did not have to deal with what is going on now, so stop using that excuse to apologise for violating our laws and weaken our country’s defense, borders and economy.

My wife is Filipina, and it took me more than two years to bring her here legally (I was deployed to Iraq at the time, so it was very difficult).
It appears to be impossible to bring her beautiful, intelligent youngest sister here legally unless I put the full amount to cover four years in a college in an account and she takes a TOEFL test. The State Department has been totally unresponsive on assistance, and in the meantime we have thousands coming over the border illegally weekly?
