Calling all photoshop/graphic artists: “Posterize” the Democrat Party
Want a project for the holidays? Check this out: Arianna Huffington is calling on her minions to design posters that capture their BDS spirit. It’s “A HuffPost Project: Posterizing the Modern GOP.” She hooked up with one Rich Silverstein, the guy who created the “Got Milk?” ad campaign, and came up with three posters “that simply but graphically capture the lunacy of the modern GOP.”
“Silverstein, who as co-chairman of Goodby, Silverstein, and Partners was behind the famous “Got Milk?” ad campaign and the Budweiser frogs, had such a grasp of what makes for effective communication in radio, movies, TV, and online, that I thought he might have some ideas on how to help the Democrats, who continue to struggle with framing an election where they are holding all the cards. He did. When I suggested that he blog about his ideas, he said that since he usually expresses himself best in visual terms, he wanted to see if he could “blog visually.”
The result is three powerful posters that simply but graphically capture the lunacy of the modern GOP. “Here is my thinking,” Silverstein told me, “What if we could TiVo the last six-plus years and play them back – without comment — for the American people, and let them connect the dots? It’s not a pretty picture.” Silverstein’s take away message is uncluttered and direct: “Haven’t we had enough? Democrats ‘08.”

this is the best they could come up with? it is bland, lacking in imagination and down right sophomoric. i never thought the ‘got milk’ adds were all that anyway.. didn’t get me, thought it was sophomoric.
democrats have a bumper sticker mentality. they think that is how you set your political ideas in place, don’t have to really ‘think’ out a strategy to give to the people. they are not the party of thinkers.

I would love to take on the challenge of posterizing the Dems, but if I did so I would probably lose my account.
I’m reminded of the newspaper editor’s tirade in “Spiderman 2,” right after spidey took back his costume from the office wall:
“He’s a thief! A criminal! I WANT SPIDERMAN!!!”
- Just swap “George Bush” for “Spiderman” and you’ve got Pinch Sulzberger in the NYT editor’s office.
OK, maybe I just have too many brain cells, or maybe I didn’t spend enough years living at home with my mom, but I just plain don’t get it. To what purpose does this really serve? It really does seem like they honestly believe that Bush is still running for President. For all intents and purposes, they appear to be campaigning against him. why else would they continually be bringing up him and all the things that relate to him, including his cabinet? Can they really not see past this administration? Do they really think that the history of this planet begins and ends with George H. Bush Jr.? I mean, it is always an open joke that their sense of history seems to begin with 9-11-01, but this is just plain ridiculous.
Is it worth anyone explaining it to me? Is anything Huffington does worth explaining to anyone? Didn’t she used to have all that alien/New Age/crystal/astrology stuff going on when she was married? I mean, wasn’t it already shown years ago, when she was claiming to be a Conservative that she was a certifyable whack-a-do?

They are in fact running against Bush – they will be for a decade. I don’t know if it will be as successful as Republicans running against Carter for all those years but given Bush’s popularity at the moment, it just might work.
It’s easy to out-liberal the liberals. We’ve got the mental horsepower to trump their emotional catharsis and do it with humor, flair and dignity.
Rick Moran, #36, I have to disagree. It’s true the Liberals are running against Bush but that won’t work. Here’s why IMHO, 1, the country is split almost 50%50% RED/BLUE. President Bush will never get higher than 50%, as that is when the Republican base is fully behind him. We need to look at why his numbers (congress for that matter as well)are so low. Is there one issue that comes to mind? If you said “the war”, you would be wrong. It’s the illegal alien issue. America faced the amnesty nightmare 5 times and 5 times we forced them to kill it. The Republican Party suffered greatly as a result of the likes like Gramnesty and Smell Martinez pushing it through. Look at McCant’s numbers, dropped like a lead baloon for supporting amensty. Hillary’s lead slipping over her drivers license debacle. It’s an issue that is sure to shape this race. I’m a big fan of Newt Gingrich and damn sad to see that he didn’t jump in. I could be wrong, but I don’t think the democrats can win by bashing Bush. If Jeb was in the race, maybe. The Republican that gets the nod only has to pull a Sarkosy and distance themselves from President Bush and all that dirt will land on the wall and not the candidate. They will need to stick to Victory over defeat on the war for extra cushion. My buddy (he’s in Iraq) emailed me for Thanksgiving and said ALL is WELL and they have turned the corner and can see Iraq coming back on track. That’s bad news for the Liberals. But I ramble on. How about changing the above slogan to an image:
A picture of a sniper taking target practice. At the top or bottom of he image is your slogan. The target is a Republican Party Poster, the sniper dressed in a Brownshirt uniform with Huffpo/MoveOn.org emblazoned on the back. The last but important part is that the sniper is holding the sniper rifle backwards.

I’m not sure it’ll be so successful. Carter messed up everybody’s life – long waits in gas lines (odd-even days, ask your folks…), interest rates over 20%, things that really angered and worried people (to say nothing of the Iran debacle.) People didn’t forget. But while the deranged hate Bush, other people’s personal lives aren’t in such widespread disarray.
As I always said the Demos are good at bumpersticker stuff but they have no alternatives or ideas how to stem the Islamofascists. Kerry didn’t have any, Hillary doesn’t, John Edwards doesn’t, and none of the other freaks do either. A Slogan should comprise something about wearing Burkas and following Islamic Law, and I am not creative enought to come up with any right now. Only thing I could come up with is vote Demo and get used to Shiria. Sorry but its all I can do now.
Well, I came up with a graphic that I sent in hours ago, but not sure if it will make the cut. It basically shows the loser code pinkos in their so-called beach chairs at a protest, and takes the theme from the Marines ad…The Democrats…The few, the proud, the lonely (my change, obviously).
