Goose Creek Two update
More details have emerged in the case of the Goose Creek Two defendants. Once again, we’ve come a long, long way from “two innocent boys just driving to the beach with fireworks and getting lost looking for cheap gas.” Federal prosecutors disclosed more info about the YouTube bomb-making videos on Ahmed Mohamed’s laptop:
Instead of carrying out “martyrdom operations,” people can use remote explosives and save themselves for the real battles, an Egyptian student said on a homemade video, according to federal prosecutors.
A court filing released earlier this week provided new details about the video. It is a key piece of evidence in the case against University of South Florida student Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed, who faces federal explosives charges after his arrest in August.
Mohamed and fellow USF student Youssef Samir Megahed were pulled over by police for a traffic stop in Goose Creek, S.C., about 15 miles northwest of Charleston and near a Navy weapons station. Officers found explosives in their car and a laptop belonging to Mohamed. It contained the video he made that demonstrates how to convert a remote-control toy car into a detonator for bombs, according to the FBI.
The men are in jail pending trial. They have pleaded not guilty.
Also on Mohamed’s laptop — in a folder labeled “Bomb Shock” — were files about ingredients for explosive, according to the filing by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Hoffer in Tampa.
In addition, the laptop was used to upload the video onto YouTube, the filing said, and it contained a record of an e-mail sent to YouTube in July asking why the submitted video had not been posted on the Web site.
Mohamed said he made the video “to assist those persons in Arabic countries to defend themselves against the infidels invading their countries,” the FBI said. He said “he considered American troops, and those military forces fighting with the American military, to be invaders of Arab countries.”

Somehow I doubt there’s coverage and commenter swarm on these Goose Creek updates at HuffPo and DailyKos. I’m that confident that I don’t even need to check. Remember, because honesty is simply unacceptable if that honesty stands to prove Bush right at any level. The left denies a “war on terror”, and admitting that there’s even something suspicious here is like committing treason among lefties.
Typical excuse being used. “am doing it for those in the middle east” yep, sure they are. Why is this not being covered top story front page by the MSM. Oh wait it might show that we are at war with islam and the extremists that have taken over this so called peaceful religion (lol, peaceful my pitute)
I see nothing in MSM regarding this story. I wonder if, their ‘alleged’ bombing plot had come to fruition what the MSM would have to say about the “Bush” administraions lack of security efforts.??????? Hail CAIR and the lawers who work for them.

They didn’t want to convert a toy car into a detonator-they were trying to convert it into a dune buggy that they could run on a S.C. beach.They just didn’t realize that there are beaches in Florida. Honestly some of you people are so bigotted and Islamophobic.Sarc off.
I can’t believe the MSM is actually ignoring such an important story.It is disgusting to see that such a thing can be ignored like this.
This is what kills me. Muslims are always complaining about kufirs “invading” their lands, and killing Christians and Jews for being in their lands etc., etc., etc., yet they seem to have absolutely no trouble going into everyone else’s lands. No one can go to their lands, no one can practice their religion in their lands, no one can spread their religion in their lands yet they have no problem DEMANDING that everyone cowtow to their religion, adapt to their religion, adopt their religion and shari’ah law and everything else, we all have to respect the koran, can’t draw mohammed, can’t mock them etc.
If you ask me, if you want us out of your countries so damn bad, then get out of all of the other countries first. You lose any and all right to demand anything so long as you sit in places like Denmark, England, Spain and elsewhere, demand that people adapt to your religion when there are absolutely no historical referrences what-so-ever for it while at the same time claiming that all these issues going on is because of all the “infidels” being in Muslim countries.

but my gut says they are not just crazies. My gut says that they are dedicated, but not so well trained soldiers on a mission.
What makes me nervous is how many more just like them are here on student visas or worse yet are sneaking across our southern border disguised as day laborers. This is the wake up call for the Department of State to stop granting student visas although I doubt they will do a damn thing.

Re: #12, you’re right on. They insist on us getting out fo their lands. In fact, they claim that this is the “root cause” for terrorism. But they have no problem coming to our country and demanding that we cowtow to them. A perfect example are the Minneapolis cabbies that won’t pick up fares that have alcohol. Another example: the flying Imams.
I think that this whole thing about us invading their lands as a root cause for terrorism is just nonsense. The real deal is that they want to take over the world. They want Islam to be the only religion. Anyone not willing to convert to Islam will be killed.
I’ve said since 9-11 that this is a religious war. This is not a small group of fanatics that has taken over a “peaceful” religion.
I apologize if my opinion of Islam offends anyone, but this is how I see it. If someone would like to prove me wrong I would gladly look at any evidence you can provide that Islam is a peaceful religion… Fortunately, I think I’m preaching to the choir.

For the government to do anything they would have to:
1) Admit there is a problem
2) Admit that we the people were right and they were wrong
3) Quit pandering to the lunatic fringes of this country
Just a guess, but I am guessing the government will just sit this problem out and then worry about how to maintain their power after the radicals have taken over what is fast becoming an open-air asylum. (Though I do not remember who to credit for that one but I am certain it came from one of the other comments here)
