The latest eco-fads: Abortion and tube-tying
So, environmental nitwits are killing their unborn children and sterilizing themselves to protect the planet (hat tip: Allah). I suppose we should be grateful these people are not reproducing:
At the age of 27 this young woman at the height of her reproductive years was sterilised to “protect the planet”.
Incredibly, instead of mourning the loss of a family that never was, her boyfriend (now husband) presented her with a congratulations card.
While some might think it strange to celebrate the reversal of nature and denial of motherhood, Toni relishes her decision with an almost religious zeal.
“Having children is selfish. It’s all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet,” says Toni, 35.“Every person who is born uses more food, more water, more land, more fossil fuels, more trees and produces more rubbish, more pollution, more greenhouse gases, and adds to the problem of over-population.”
While most parents view their children as the ultimate miracle of nature, Toni seems to see them as a sinister threat to the future.
We’ve seen this anti-children animus before. Back in May, you may remember, a green think tank issued a report on how kids are bad for the planet:
HAVING large families should be frowned upon as an environmental misdemeanour in the same way as frequent long-haul flights, driving a big car and failing to reuse plastic bags, says a report to be published today by a green think tank.
The paper by the Optimum Population Trust will say that if couples had two children instead of three they could cut their family’s carbon dioxide output by the equivalent of 620 return flights a year between London and New York.
John Guillebaud, co-chairman of OPT and emeritus professor of family planning at University College London, said: “The effect on the planet of having one child less is an order of magnitude greater than all these other things we might do, such as switching off lights.
“The greatest thing anyone in Britain could do to help the future of the planet would be to have one less child.”
Not a big leap from there to here.

Eco-freaks not reproducing. Is that a bad thing?
Alan, just my thoughts. Maybe we’ll have less nutbags on this planet.
If they were truly dedicated they would off themselves too.
Oh I suppose I’ll anger everyone by saying this, but I recall the furor over Pope Paul VI’s encyclical Humanae Vitae, which admonishes Catholics to remain open to the creation of life in every act of sex.
We’ve been saying all along that the agenda of Margaret Sanger was a dark, anti-humanitarian agenda. We’ve called it part of the culture of death. Lots of people have asked me, as a Catholic, what in the world I meant when I referred to birth-control as part of the culture of death.
The demon is showing its face, folks.
LOL Brother John #3. We could only be so lucky. O.K. everybody, BDS will be on high supply today with France tossing out Rumsfeld torture case.
I don’t consider myself any kind of eco-nut or anything but I agree that overpopulation is a problem, and ultimately it will stabilize itself. The problem is that the way mother nature will stop population growth is unlikely to be a pretty thing. I think the realization that on an finite planet infinite population growth isn’t possible is a good thing, and if not addressed continued population growth will eventually, at the very least, drastically reduce the standard of living we have become used to.
Volunteers to have no kids are fine with me. I just wish we could get some of the welfare mothers with 10 kids from ten unknown dads to get the sterilization done before giving birth, rather than those who can afford to have kids.
Because of a ‘decision’ my mother made, she is now cared for 24/7 @ the age of 92 by a devoted offspring.
Dear Toni, this ’selfishly having children’ is SO going to make sense when you are an elderly member of society.
Children ROK!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=66IO3mzSUwo&feature=related
So, correct me if I’m wrong, wasn’t the whole “save the planet” movement designed so we would save the planet…for the children?
I thought we were supposed to preserve it so future generations could enjoy it.
Guess not.
Studies show that – by and large – conservatives (not only religious ones, either) have more children, and that children have a strong tendency to adhere to the same beliefs of their parents. Logically, this means in 20 years, more children will be raised in conservative households than liberal ones, and the trend in politics and social policy will shift.
Which explains, of course, why liberals fight like hell to indoctrinate children via public schools.
If eco-nuts want to sterilize themselves, they’ll be the ones who – in old age have no one to visit or care for them. Fine. Their choice.
My only concern is this will spill over into a mandate that requires all women to be sterilized, contracept, or abort…for the good of the planet. Personal choice be damned. If Hillarycare became a reality, don’t think this wouldn’t happen.
She is a HERO, that others should follow!
Would state run healthcare pay to sterilize liberals? I could warm up to this SCHIP thing…
You just can’t make this stuff up!! “Weirdos” pagan worship, I bet they moon bathe too. Is this the product of American Re education camps? Teaching, Self Hate and Self Loathing.
I do think this person made the right decision, I would hate for these folks to reproduce and make a child suffer with their neurouis.
If your crazy and you know it raise your hand…..NO, they don’t know it.
#10, re-education camps is such a un-PC term! And besides, that would imply their conditioning was done against their wills.
The PC term is university.
No kids – no more little liberal kids running around – no future of this crap
Thank GOD!
No, they will just push harder for the nanny state to provide for their every need. How a socialist style welfare state will sustain itself without any young workers to pay taxes is a different question that Europe will have to answer in the coming decades.
Michelle,
There’s a lot to recommend this remark.
It’s also a funny joke on the “evolution only” crowd: according to their world view, only the unfit don’t reproduce well enough to survive. There’s hilariously accurate irony in that when applied to this particular story.
As I mentioned at Hot Air’s headlines, I think it was Al Gore’s chief of staff (Roy Neel?) who once said children are the biggest source of pollution.
Will this position on child birth be a plank at the Democrapic National Convention?
Notice to all humans: All life is precious.
Read [America Alone] by Mark Steyn to see
who is having children
Half measures. If they really cared, they’d abort themselves.
What better outcome could be asked for? We don’t have to mourn the loss of more unborn children, and don’t have to worry about them being indocrinated with the liberal hate-speech and self-loathing.
I would send these couples congratulatory cards (had I addresses), and encourage them to further “impress” their views onto like-minded knuckle dragging morons infecting out nation.
Yeah – after I posted I thought about that, and you’re probably right.
Most of the 30 million children aborted since Roe v. Wade became law in 1973 would be taxpayers now, working and contributing to things like Social Security (which is going belly up). At one point, there used to be something like 6 taxpayers for every one withdrawing from Social Security. Now that ratio is 2:1 and still going down.
englishqueen01
I think you are wrong…of the thirty million aborted since R v. W, only about 2-3 million would actually be making wages and paying taxes. The rest would be on welfare…
I can think of several people in this country that are,
in actuality, a good pro abortion argument.
One day, this liberal goof is going to look around and
say, “OMG, what did I do?”
WOW Really deflates anything I would have to say but…..aw hell, nothing left to say……..except,, Those that wish to take themselves out of the gene pool should dry their feet and go.
What a selfless gesture! But, if she was really a team player, she’d really take one for Team Eco. Since EVERY additional person is an unacceptable burden to planet “Gorth” (Eco speak for gore plus Earth), she should really go one step further to really show her team pride. Get out that “Jim Jones” Kool Aid recipe, invite her friends, and make a real statement.

University of Moonbatistan?
Only people that can afford kids should have them. That includes those that pay taxes, not dependent on the government and our money for support and illegals having babies many times over.
The liberals who consider themselves intellectually superior to conservatives should be forced to read this thread-they might learn something. All of the posts here are so well thought out and logical, that I doubt any liberal could understand the reasoning, though.
#24, I was thinking more like Columbia.
I agree. But I wonder how these radicals are going to feel when they FINALLY realize that they have given up a child for a convenient lie?
I love how it never really crosses the mind of these people that:
No children = no future economy
No future economy = poverty
Poverty = pollution
Logic never was a liberal’s strong suit, I suppose.
englishqueen is right in #8 — the future of this kind of leftist think is to enforce it on the rest of us sooner or later.
As for not aborting themselves, remember, one reason libs tend not to have as many kids is they are quite selfish. They will never put themselves out. That is also why they will expect the rest of us to look after them in their golden years.
Yes, a retroactive abortion on themselves would do the trick. Then they could officially compete for a Darwin Award and save the planet at the same time.
OK, I am going to be the somewhat dissenting opinion on this one.
I’m 38, fairly conservative and my wife and I have no desire to have children. This is not to make some kind of ecological points or to cash in carbon credits, it’s just the way things are. We are happy with it, but we don’t feel the need to persuade others to go down the same road.
And for those who try the argument of “Who will take care of you in your later years”…I expect ME to take care of me. That is why I save up as much money as I can towards retirement for my wife and myself and we are investing in long-term care insurance. Isn’t caring for yourself without government handouts something we like to rant about?
Just another example of left-wing loser mentality and counter-productivity.Or is it just the live-for today,to hell with tomorrow lifestyle?Anyway, thank goodness for fine young mothers like you, Michelle, who understand the true value of children.
I dunno, maybe I am being callous, but would we really want such selfish, unthinking, black-hearted, egotistical people raising children to begin with? These people only care about one thing…themselves. They only care about personal gain and personal satisfaction. They only care about number one. The last thing on their mind is the love of a child. To say they are doing this for the planet is just a scapegoat. Giving her a congrats card? He is just relieved that he doesn’t have to put forth any type of responsibility for anything. He can go on being the only child in his life. These people deserve each other. As wrong as abortion is, and it is wrong, it does guarantee one thing…less Linerals on the earth. it guarantees lees filth, less unwashed hippies polluting the planet with their humorless drivel and ridiculous feelings based illogical responses to global politics.
no more baby moonbats and nutroots….sounds like a good plan too me…it looks like less of them will get dropped in the future. heh
I hope all liberals decide to take this earth friendly breeding technique. By the end of my life time the planet could be a liberal free zone.
I seem to always agree with you Retf. Cameron, I have
known several couples that have decided for whatever
reason to not have children. I have always felt their decisions were well thought out. However, I doubt that
this persons was.
In the, I believe, 70s, there was a man who was on the
Johnny Carson show and he was talking about how we
cannot save every victim of disease and/or famine..
that this was nature’s way of taking care of the planet.
Naturally he was booed by every group of people that heard about what he said. However, none of them could dispute his logic. What I am getting to is, apparently what this woman did is the new famine and/or disease. She is having a knee jerk
reaction to Al Gore and his so called panel of
experts. At least she is (possibly) no longer using an abortion clinic as a birth control device.
It isn’t really about ’saving’ the earth….it is about their fear of not having what they need if there are others sharing it also.
I never met a green-lib who wasn’t deeply selfish. It is all ’save the planet’ until the sparrows nest in their windowsill…
funny how quickly some of these self-enthroned, ‘enlightened’ folk will kill to solve or get rid of a problem.
It reminds me of someone’s bumper sticker that said, “I’m not trying to overpopulate the planet, I’m just trying to outnumber the idiots”.
Seriously though, what illogical thinking. One other thing I’ve noticed is that although human life is devalued and seen as a “drain” on the planet, no one should ever under any circumstances eat any meat because killing animals for food is WRONG.
What infuriates me are the people that cannot feed one child, let alone the however many more they had.
I did not have children to take care of us in our old age. We decided that we wanted two to four children.
That was the number that we could care for and
educate through college. In other words, we thought
out our decision..getting pregnant wasn’t just a fun
thing to do when there was nothing else going on or
a means to pile up welfare checks or a way to cement
our place in this country if INS ever came calling.
I am already tired of this carbon footprint thing. I
do remember the 70s and global cooling. Just wish
the goofballs would make up their minds. Are we
gonna freeze or burn up?
C’mon. Like God would give us a planet that couldn’t take us. Puh-leeze.
The uncivilized peoples of the past would sometimes engage in child sacrifice to appease the Gods. In today’s civilized world we sacrifice our children to appease mother nature and save the planet. But we do it while they are still in the womb so we don’t have to hear their crys or see their tears. We are SO much more
advancedevolved and compassionate than the peoples of the past!Having kids and continuing to have life on this planet does not go AGAINST nature, that IS nature! And again with the reducing of carbon by having less kids. Again: Carbon. NATURE.
But if they want to reduce their carbon footprint to zero by not breathing and not having kids, fine!
Sounds good to me. Let them go at it, and phase out their own genes. Probably make for a more intelligent human race.
#23 Jim M., ROFL:
“But, if she was really a team player, she’d really take one for Team Eco.”
Time to head over to CafePress to design new t-shirts.
If they truly cared about the Earth they’d kill themselves immediately
Darwinism in reverse!
I wonder how this woman, and the rest of the “no children to save the environment” folks, live.
Every single family I’ve known with children has to cut corners and save money where they can, to make their income go far. They are more efficient in their shopping, their consuming and disposing of goods, and how they treat what they do own.
Many of the DINK couples I’ve known decided not to have kids because they didn’t want to spend the money on them or give up their free lifestyles. But they spend their money like there’s no tomorrow – many owning several cars, living in large houses, buying new when something doesn’t work, etc.
While I acknowledge there’s a difference between a couple that just chooses not to have children and one that chooses to be fixed to claim a sense of moral superiority in being so “selfless”, I have to wonder if these eco-friendly people who do not have children live in small houses, drive efficient cars and live an acceptably “green” lifestyle.
If they don’t, then this premise is just a bunch of hooey, and more of the “Way too many of you, just enough of me” mentality that pervades the American left.
#44, are you THE Doctor Hook, like with the medicine show?
“The greatest thing anyone in Britain could do to help the future of the planet would be to have one less child.”
Muslims are counting on it. And Islam’s concern for the environment is legendary.
Let the eco-madness end with generation of tube-tying idiots.
I use to say, jokingly, that the liberals would soon be encouraging people to get abortions and in turn get carbon credits they could apply to living ‘carbon neutral’. After reading this I can see it is a realistic possibility in some of those twisted minds.
It just keeps getting harder and harder to parody liberals.
puhiawa, I do not doubt that Muslims are counting on it, but I am not familiar with Islam’s concern for the environment… I am willing to listen if you would care to explain.
Good, a few less to spring up in thier place. Now if we can find a way to deal with the one’s alive now. People like those are morons who think with man gone the Earth would be all sunshine and happy faces. No matter what planet your from Sh!t Happens.
I’ve always seen these people as a threat, at least if Islamist if they got an all powerful virus bomb that only killed Humans they would leave at least converts alive. The PETA And Planet freaks most likely would not stop for anything but a few of there own number. Caring for the planet is a must, but to the level they want and at the cost of Human survival and advancement is going to far.
As far as over population goes, in Urban areas it seems that way, but how much of it is really over population, or Mismanagment? Poor City planing, greed, lust, and down right stupidity. Besides to keep a current population up all Male & Female pairings must have two children. Having none or becoming homosexual is a sure fire way to commit suicide.
For instance With planed growth plan on a city chart and more large scale buildings with multiple floors but that take up less space than current designs (Such as the Japanese Floating city concept) could easily put an end to urban Sprawl. And with more money placed into a monorail system and more safer effeciant public transportation and end to much pollution.
Food waste is also problematic, as well as many nations with unrestricted farming and fishing programs. All in all there are many little problems that add up into a bigger one. Also maybe we would not have such a problem if people became content with living till there 70’s and 80’s. Or the fact that stupid things like growing plants that need lots of water in humid regions, or in the Civilian population having a lush yard in such a place, is going on. I could go on and on here and unlike some actully present Sollutions.
You know, I was just thinking. While they’re at it, why don’t they just phase themselves out too, at the same time. Save a lot of resources right now. You know, “Do it for Mother Earth”, and be a “martyr” for the cause.
If Muslims were really environmentally conscious, they
would quit blowing things up and littering the country
side with body parts.
I noticed the picture of Gore, above, and surely all of
that fat could not be good for global warming!!
I say, good for her. Now she can demonstrate all she
wants and doesn’t have to worry about dropping her
child on his/her face when she’s celebrating.
When I worked in Jeddah [Saudi Arabia] in 1990, the population of Yeman was around
11 million…
Now it’s about 22 million. With a fertility rate of 6.49/woman and 5 million
males age 14 or less…hmmm I wonder what all those “youths” will be doing with their 35% + employment rate spare time.
I think they probably think “Roe” is something you get out of a fish.
Meanwhile, radical Islamists are conquering Europe through the wombs of their women!
LOL TxRose, wonder if she eats jerky.
http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?secid=1501&status=article&id=280454835339162&secure=1&show=1&rss=1
‘ “I believe it appropriate to have an overstatement of factual presentations on how dangerous it is, as a predicate to opening up the audience to listen,” Gore told the environmentalist magazine Grist in 2006.
In the early days of the warming scare, when Gore was just a Tennessee senator who had mere presidential, not world-saving, aspirations on his mind, Stanford University environmentalist Stephen Schneider told Discover magazine in 1989 that “we need to get some broad-based support, to capture the public’s imagination.”
“That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have.”
Guilty as well is James Hansen, the climate change godfather, who said in 2003 that “emphasis on extreme scenarios may have been appropriate at one time, when the public and decision makers were relatively unaware of the global warming issue.”
We’re sure he no longer believes they are appropriate because he knows they aren’t needed. He and others have effectively bamboozled the world into believing that climate disaster is imminent. ‘
The most recent candidate for the Darwin Awards!

Like all Muslim legends, it is non-existent
She probably doesn’t eat jerky because she probably
belongs to PETA.
She won’t have to worry about what will become of her
when she gets old because if HRC becomes president
she will get her healthcare plan through and more than likely it will contain an euthanasia clause along
with guaranteed abortions and free tubal ligations or
vasectomies. After all, HRC held herself to one child
(I’ve always suspected there were no more because she either lost or broke the turkey baster), and her
way will be the only way.
The real selfishness is not having children, then they get to spend all their time and money, on themselves, the I am doing it for the planet, is to make them sound like they are somehow thinking of anyone but themselves. Anyone who has raised a child knows it takes devotion and a great deal of time and patience, and money. Sounds like she is busy being the child herself. I think she made the right decision but not for the reasons she professed.
This chick acts like she’s all selfless, when it’s her type that is the most selfish of all. They want to only have to support themselves in their productive years and then when they are tired of working, they want my kids that I paid for to keep supporting them.
They’ll be the first ones to holler that the nanny state should be providing a more comfortable lifestyle for it’s seasoned citizens, but they’re not about to incur the expense and self-sacrifice of providing more taxpayers to fund their grand schemes. That means I have to work harder now so my kids are better prepared to bust their tails paying for 3 generations — themselves, their kids and half of the previous generation
When are people going to stop believing the over-population myth?!?! The number of people living on the planet today could all fit in the state of Texas with room to spare!!! Don’t believe me? Do the math. Go to the UN website to get the figure for world population, go to an Atlas to get the size of Texas and do the math…
HEY!!! We’ve got more than enough at the moment!
OK got smart when they passed their anti illegals
law and now, besides the ones we already had plus
the ones that come in every day and all of the snow
birds and Katrina refugees…..well, we don’t need
all those people samiam is talking about, okay.
s
Don’t know where that s came from and OKs illegals
are leaving the state like, well you can imagine.
Go ahead you eco-freaks; stop having babies, then within 50-years we won’t have to listen to your mind-less incoherent babble anymore. How about euthanizing yourselves so I can live in peace now! My God! Al Gore has these sheep drinking the hard kool-aid.
Yet, these liberal wackjobs will have hissy fits if a judge sentences a pedopheliac to be sterilized. Go figure.
If you really want to know how far this can go I blogged about this last month:
Voluntary Human Extinction, How green are you?
Remember that animal rights used to be a really “out there” idea at one time.
Good, OldGuy. You do know that in the South we
treasure our crazies in the attic, I hope. Loved your
blog.
Thanks TXRose, although I’m not up to MM’s level it’s nice to have a place to point some things out.
The holidays and work have slowed me down this month but I’ll be adding to it when I can.
Do you really believe overpopulation has anything to do with how many people we could jam into one small area? The last time I went to a football game the crowd was jammed in shoulder to shoulder. It was OK for the game, but I wouldn’t want to live that way. There are many things that determine overpopulation, the least of which is whether you have enough space to stand.
Down the Logical path…
Darwin…Liberals…Extinction…YAAAAY!!!
[clapping hands]
“Idiocracy” – It’s not a movie, it’s a documentary!
IMO, it is very unfair to say that everyone who chooses not to have a child is selfish and that they make this choice due to money considerations. It is better for people who are not maternal or paternal not to have kids. Child rearing isn’t the right choice for everyone. I know numerous loving, caring and generous people who chose not to have kids and they don’t believe that “it’s all about them”.
We came to this decision shortly before we got married. What grates on my nerves with this article is that she’s making it sound like a trendy thing to do.
Actually, I support other people’s kids by paying into property taxes on public schools that I will never put to use and I will draw in Social Security, Retirement accounts and insurance policies that I paid into with MY money.
And I do agree that it is rather unfair to make the broad, sweeping claim that those of us who choose to avoid having children do so for selfish reasons. Parenting isn’t for everyone and there is nothing amoral about choosing to not have children.
No there isn’t, and for some people it’s the right thing to do…er not to do, or whatever.
Anyway the point is there are better reasons for some people to not have children than to claim it’s a “green” decision.
There are actually people out there who advocate the idea that the earth should return to it’s natural state, the one without human beings. They make this claim based on the idea that mankind is nothing more than an infestation, in other words they don’t believe in the nobility of the human species.
This is a far cry from being critical of couples who choose to not have children, they are in reality proclaiming moral superiority for their “sacrifice” and denigrating “breeders” for their selfishness.
It may seem like kooky and fringe thinking, but how many things were considered also kooky 40 to 50 years ago that are mainstream now?
It may seem funny to us, but will it be such a weird and nut ball idea to our childrens children?
Sounds a lot like the idea from the movie “Logan’s Run.” Not only can we celebrate the fact they refuse to breed maybe they will voluntarily take themselves out to protect the fragile ecosystem of the planet. They can all hold hands sing kumbya and jump off the nearest cliff on their 30th birthday. The older hippies and leaches on the butt of society can start self terminating immediately. Save the planet eliminate yourself and your carbon footprint now! LOL!
I know of a couple that decided not to have children,
because of a gene in one of the families. However, this
same couple has fostered more children (real problem
children) than I can count and he coaches childrens
athletics teams and is an assistant scout master. I
would say that a lot of children are so fortunate that
these two people decided not to have children of their
own…and these are people the greenies consider an
infestation on the planet.
Liberal eco-freaks want to be sterilized so as to not produce more of the same? You can tax me for it and I will pay gladly.
It backs up the adage that kids are now hearing on PBS childrens’ shows:
“It’s a free world!”
(When did that happen?)
Logan’s Run + Soylent Green = no more greenies
One of the most important books published in the last 10 years:
HARD GREEN: Saving the Environment from the Environmentalists- A Conservative Manifesto
by Peter Huber; 1999; Basic Books
There are more of us out here than the Moon Loons who have used PR and media to send our Nation into a drunken orgy of superstition, anti-science, and social alchemy.
I encourage you to read this book as soon as you can and get active in your communities to create a positive counterforce to this very very fascist movement headed by Gore and Company.
I don’t consider myself a reactionary or a conspiracy monger. Yet, I say to all of you environmentalism is the issue that has galvanized the younger generation among us to ACCEPT wholesale solutions to help “the dying planet”, in a docile unquestioning manner. And these solutions are to be engineered, administered, and ENFORCED by legions of lawyers, unelected think tank wonks, and bureaucracies without any accountability to private property laws or constitutional authority.
The new fascism is “Green” and it’s global.
The effectiveness of the Goebels-esque lie that is Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth” documentary is that it has- without the use of mace, club, bayonet or torture chamber- conditioned one young female to sterilize herself voluntarily.
How many more have already followed that lead, at least in their heads, nodding in agreement?
So how does this play out? Free-thinking humans choose to stop breeding. What remains? How is the deficit in labor, law, entertainment, sex, religion, culture, civic life, art, leisure, and every other field of “human endeavour compensated for?
Deeper questions persist. Are our elected leaders and aspiring elected leaders even thinking about anything even remotely relevant to this “silent spring”?
Thinking? You expect them to think beyond the present?
I thought the question might bring some light to bear on the matter of how little they do think about things that extend farther into the future than their….oh well, never mind.
And the Lord God said to the man & the woman, be fruitful and multiply. So what else is new with these people opposing the natural norms and standards set down by God? They kill babies literally and now figuratively.
As far as over population, the problem is not lack of food. There is more than enough aeriable land to more than sustain the earth’s population and more. The problem is management and government! Look at “Zimbabwe.” Rhodesia, now Zimwastebasket, was the breadbasket of Africa, exporting much more than the population needed. Look at liberalism, collectivism and communism and you can understand why there is an eco problem. Russia did more damage to the environment, and still does, than any other country on the planet under the Soviet experiment. Yes, thank God we still live in a free country where can make an effort to stop these abhorrent and aberrant people.
Just be thankful that she has removed herself from the gene pool – may many more like her follow this path.
